Their coffee and coffee drinks are superb, try the lattes! We got them hot one day and iced the next and both were perfect (no burnt coffee taste here). A neighborhood elder stopped to tell us that she doesn't get her coffee anywhere else, because theirs is the best. They also have breakfast and lunch sandwiches which were delicious. We got a sausage, egg, and cheese croissant and a chicken avocado sandwich. Excellent! They also have a little market with bakery items, small cereal, treats and a wide variety of drinks. They even have a quite extensive selection of wines. All in all, a neighborhood gem with the friendliest staff you've ever met. Ideal for a quick stop before you go into the city. read more

I was passing by the fabulous market today and decided to go in and see what they had to sell. I stopped at the bakery display. I chose what I thought to be was a chocolate muffin. And then I turned to the cashier or barista and asked about their smoothies they had on the menu. Now the sign never said fruit smoothies so I guess it's technically not false advertising because there was not one fruit in this smoothie. She told me the flavors they had. Up until she started making it. I assumed they had frozen fruit at least. I chose a mango and peach smoothie because well that's how she said it. She then proceeded to pull out two jugs from a refrigerator. One with peach syrup and the other mango syrup. She then put some ice in a blender for the syrup in the blender and then proceeded to blend it up. Then put it in a cup and handed it to me. While the flavor of the smoothie was good it just seemed to be missing something. It just seemed a little artificial. And the muffin, tasted like it was two days old. No real flavor. The market also offers a coffee selection as well as wine and premade sandwich sandwiches. I guess fabulous is a loose term that could be used many different ways. read more

This place is actually fabulous, as the name suggest. Walking by it, you can't get a feel for all the great food and goodies that are inside so please don't overlook this smaller establishment. I had a bacon egg and cheese croissant and it was huge, warm, flaky, buttery and delicious. Bacon was crispy and cheese was melted nicely. Def large enough for two people to share or one really hungry person. When I checked in I got a Yelp perk for a free soup. She didn't have soup and let me choose a free danish instead. I choose the Apple danish. IT WAS AWESOME! Equally as huge as the croissant. The lady/owner is so incredibly sweet. There was a bit of a language barrier but her customer service was polite and patient. The strawberry banana smoothie was about the size of a medium. Overall, The price was not even $10 for the sandwich and drink. This was the perfect spot for a late breakfast. I was so mad that I initially overlooked it and went to a more expensive, less flavorful restaurant for coffee. She has coffee, and wine. Great place! I guess this was my first bodega experience and I loved it! Definitely heard of how great they were and because of HERS, I'm looking forward to my next bodega experience in other cities. read more

After 30 seconds, the person handed me a pre made, pre wrapped sandwich with no label or indicator of when it had been prepared. $8 for a pre made, cold sandwich? We stayed at the Melrose which was great but we were able to go right next door to the most friendly little place. We ended up coming over every morning for breakfast and even had some evening sandwiches. Prices were very reasonable and a good selection. If you're staying close give it a try you'll be happy you did. It was great !! read more

Awww...cute little market. I stopped in a few times while I was staying (almost) next door at The Melrose Hotel for a cup of coffee and a breakfast bagel sandwich - both good. It's not a super well-stocked market, but it's certainly adequate for a small bite, a six pack of beer, cup of coffee, etc. The market is clean, bright and has a window counter to sit and eat a sandwich of whatever one needs to do for 20 minutes or so. 3.5 stars. Note: A few more smiles from behind the counter would be really nice. read more

After driving from Richmond to DC finding a place to eat without wasting money on Uber's was quite difficult! This place is small and unfortunately me and my boyfriend were able to find it right before we left, ironically right next to our hotel! The workers were warm and so nice! Came here twice while staying at the Melrose Hotel it's a small mom and pop shop; open everyday at 7am. Good selection of cold drinks, beer & wine, prepared sandwiches, snacks and some groceries they also make hot breakfast sammies and lunch sammies as well. A good coffee and tea menu along with baked goodies. They even sell cigarettes for those who still partake in that unhealthy habit. If you are in a hurry, forget it only 2 people there at any given time. Otherwise it can take about 10 minutes to get a specialty drink and a fresh sandwich. The coffee and food was well prepared and tasty. There is counter seating and a table for 4 in the back, staff was friendly. A good local spot for essentials and a quick bite. read more

I really loved this place. I came here on a Saturday morning and their ham and cheese croissant was delicious and cheap, I couldn't believe it was only $2.95. They toast it warm for you, it's buttery and crispy, and SO good- I bought two. They have tons of European goods too, different kinds of chocolates, cheeses, yogurts, nuts, chips, etc. They even have Magnum, my favorite ice cream when I was in Europe. Also known as Marvelous Market, Came here on a rainy Sat evening looking for dessert--- this place wasn't it. But the selection of coffees (and the taste) was a benefit. The chocolate brownie is just chocolate-- great for kids, most adults (especially those that are health fanatics) wouldn't eat this whole thing. Other desserts they had included ginger cake and ginger pound-- varies in concentration but very moist seeming products as was the brownie that I did indulge in (and rushed to the gym afterwards). They do have a bathroom and umbrella rack (you may pass the rack since it is directly in front of the door). Very very few seating spots (4-5). Probably great for those on to work for a grab and go breakfast or lunch. read more
