Went to Faces Skincare with a gift groupon. This was my first intro to professional skincare ever. Jean provided professional service and on top of it she's a nice, caring person. I've never purchased costly skincare products, but wanted to see 'how the other half lives," and was excited to see how the Glymed Plus line would work. I'm still using the Glymed products since they are excellent for hydrating my skin, keeping down the brown spots and improving my wrinkly visage. Not coming back. Jean is lovely as a person!!! But the pricing was VERY confusing and her narrative about what my face "needed" was very inconsistent. She asked me to cancel the Groupon and pay her directly but that the treatment I "needed" was more expensive than the Groupon one. She forgot because she ended up doing the Groupon treatment and even asked me for the Groupon receipt (when she asked me to cancel it). I've never done any lip color tattoo. This is my first experience. TBH I was super nervous and was scared at first. Eyebrows tattoo were a lil bit painful for me and I'm thinking lips are more delicate and sensitive. (How am I suppose to handle the pain?) but, guess what? Jean' s concern was to make sure her client's comfort is her main focus. The pain wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. You feel pain but it is tolerable. The bottom lip was less painful for me. I didn't feel pain. But as we get to the Cupid's bow and the center of my lips that when it gets a lil more sensitive because more of the nerve is right in the middle. What helped me relax was knowing to put my trust in Jeans care and having a stress ball can help too. Just squeezzzzeeeee. We had a consultation about lip color. I wanted a more natural look with a pop of color. Pink and mauve were mixed together to get a custom color. We had went over the procedure few days before. Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hrs! Jean is so thoughtful (I tend to forget simple things) she texted me a day before procedure reminding that my last sip of caffeine/alcohol would be at this 0:00. Two types of needles were used. One for our lining the lips and the other one was for color/shading (3 tiny needles) I think the Nano was one needle. Jean showed me both needles are new and packaged. Never been used. Brand new. She showed me the tools and what they are being use for. Lip would be prepped/exfoliate/clean and moisturizer will be applied on. Lips would be drawn and then numbing cream is applied. Outlining the lips and then color/shading. I went with three passes on top and one or two on bottom. The bottom absorbed more color than on top. That was what I was told. The whole procedure took about 2.5 hrs to almost 3. (Varies depending on skin) After my procedure my lips did get swollen ( I knew because I do bruise easily) the color is very pretty and I am happy with the color. She gave me after care instructions and told me to avoid salty/spicy food up to two weeks because it will cause color to rapidly fade. Jean also included a full size aquaphor lip balm (tube) But, Vaseline or Carmex could also be used. The first 5 days I follow the instructions. 3 days I use aquaphor. Then I switch to carmex lip balm with SPF 15 (tube) however I didn't use Vaseline. The tube was much easier to use and I just squeeze a small amount on a cotton swab. I did not rub it in. I gently rolled the swab over my lips pressing down with our rubbing to prevent accidentally ripping or tearing the scabs/dry skin. I use a tiny scissor (eye brow scissor) to trim the peeling skin. By 1.5 weeks. I was able to apply the lip balm onto my lips. But, I only do so when my lips are dry. I don't do it often. The great thing about my healing process that I did not blister at all. Just swollen lips for two days. I did not apply no ice pack because it wasn't in any pain. Hope my review help anyone who is interested in lip tattoo. Jean does a marvelous job. Without getting into "TMI" territory, let me just say that I wasn't satisfied with the results of the waxing that I received. Either my hair and skin did not like the wax that was used or Jean did not do a thorough enough job. At first, looking in the mirror after she finished, it appeared nicely done, but upon closer inspection at home, there were missed areas and irritated skin (even days after). But because I really liked Jean, I'd like to think that it was the products she used rather than her technique. She seemed to know what she was doing, and although I didn't ask, I assume she was doing this work for awhile. From the time I walked into her lovely office, she was very professional, welcoming, and made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately, I've had way better results-cleaner, more complete, and without irritation-done in the past from other estheticians. I found Jean and Faces Skincare through a Amazon Local deal. It turned out to be not such a great deal. Honestly, I won't be returning for another waxing, but I do wish Jean luck in her business and future endeavors. Lordy Lordy, can't say enough good things about Jean and her shabby chic, adorable aesthetician studio! I had been searching around for just the perfect person and Peel to help me with my skin issues. I have very dry and oily skin, lots of hyperpigmentation and discoloration. Large pores, uneven texture and tones. I was a hot mess! Purchased an awesome deal through Yelp and came in for my consultation. Jean was incredibly professional and warm, very welcoming environment and personality. You can tell Jean is the kind of person that people call in the middle of the night when they run out of gas! She checks over my skin and informs me that the best approach before any harsh peel is to prep the skin for at least 3 to 4 weeks, I love that that she advised me on the proper way to go about this, not all aestheticians are willing to do that. They want their money upfront and don't take the time to make sure you're as safe as possible. Jean sells a wonderful line of skincare products called GlyMed while she did recommend for safety reasons and quality of product I invest in this line, she was not pushy at all. I informed her that I have a ton of products at the current time and wouldn't be available to purchase the whole line, but rather willing to try one product that was the most important. I got the toning agent with glycolic acid and I must say, it is amazing! I use it religiously every morning now! The day of my peel, my skin was a bit flush from allergies so once again, being the professional that she is, Jean called Glymed to ensure there would be no adverse reactions. Professionalism at its finest! After all, safety first. She warned me the peel can burn quite a bit as you progress on through the levels, I made it to two levels and had to stop. That Peel is some serious business! My face got very read the first day or two, then got tight and began peeling.. i'll admit there was some discomfort the first few days, but now? Now?! My skin looks and feels amazing! I can see very noticeable differences in the size of my pores, texture of my skin, fine lines are decreased just a Tad, and my skin has a more consistent and even color. Went to faces for my first time on Tuesday. Jean was so nice and professional. She draws on your brows beforehand and let's you look at them to make sure you will like them before waxing them which is genius! The wax itself was pretty painless and I didn't get too red or break out after. Jean knows exactly what she is doing and is very knowledgeable, I got the groupon as well so it was a great deal! I remember our first appointment, Jean told me of all the possibilities of why I get acne. Most of the information was new to me, she was very informative. My experience was not good with Jean. She books multiple people and rushes through the appointment without proper cleansing. After the treatment I got chemical burn scars on my face which never went away. I also had swelling on my face on using the products she tried to sell me and didn't do anything about it. All through the treatment she kept talking about her life problems. I understand people go through things but that's the time I would like to relax and not get more stressed out listening to her issues. Also, while booking the next appointment she said she was tentatively booking me on Sunday but never confirmed it and tried to charge me for not showing up. After seeing a Groupon for Chemical Peels at Faces, I called Jean for more information. I wanted to get rid of dark spots that appeared after having a baby, likely also due to sun damage. The thought of putting chemicals on my face was beyond scary and I asked her a million questions after doing my own research. She was very patient, answered all my questions, and so incredibly knowledgeable. It was incredibly interesting talking to her, and I was impressed. I went in for a consultation, where I asked her a hundred more questions, she recommended products to use prior to beginning my treatments, and let me know what to expect. My first peel was mild and I peeled as if it were an annoying sun burn. I just did my second peel (she adjusts the peels according to the condition of my skin, my expectations and concerns) and it was stronger than the first peel. This time, the peeling was very significant, a bit embarrassing (but I was prepared for this from looking at photos online and attempted to schedule my peel accordingly). I informed her of my progress (she also asked me to send her photos, which was awesome, so I didn't feel like I was bothering her with my texts and she was actually concerned with my care even after the treatment!) and she said that due to my significant progress, we would do a lighter peel for the 3rd one. This way, I can plan ahead and schedule my appointment accordingly. OMG That week of peeling was SO worth it!! I am SO loving my skin again!! Now I'm staring at the mirror not believing that it's MY skin, admiring the smooth texture, and evenness of my skin tone instead of staring at my flaws, fine lines, and dark spots. I honestly can't believe it! Now, I wake up in the morning happy with my makeup free skin instead of scaring myself and wondering when THAT happened! I can even go out in public without any makeup, and not be self - conscious. I don't like to wear a lot of makeup, anyway, so this makes me VERY happy! I am currently getting chemical peels with facials with Jean, the owner. I got a groupon, I was skeptical because there were no reviews but that is because her business is new. I feel like I found a gem. Jean is very respectful, accommodating, and knowledgeable. She has experience and extensive education. She is very honest, she will not try to sell you things you do not need. Location: there is a parking lot. Her suite has just been decorated, looks very sophisticated and fresh. Time: After having a stressful day I love calling and getting after work appointments. She stays beyond normal business hours to accomodate me which I really appreciate. Product: I looked for facials because I had just gone through a stressful time in my life and broke out. The acne left scars. After 1 chemical peel I noticed a difference about a week later. I believe it was called the lactic-30 ?? It boosted my confidence for a wedding I had to attend. Bonus: When I got my face waxed she gave me a quick facial on the house. Please, please avoid this salon!!!! 1. Doesn't provide services promised 2. Questionable billing policies, is not upfront or honest regarding cost & what it gets you 3. Unknowledgeable esteticians 4. Service made my skin break out in cystic acne, and worsened fine lines. --- 1. Doesn't provide services promised: Upon my first visit, Jean (the owner) sold me on her services with the promise that the cost of a facial covered the face, neck & upper chest facial services, waxing the upper lip & brows, as well as the cost of cleanser and lotion that I would use at home. As I was going on my 3-week honeymoon soon, she also told me the cost would cover a kit of products tailored to my skin's needs in each climate we would visit on travels (i.e. extra moisturizing products for morocco / skin balancing products for humid parisian summers). Sounds good so far, right? But wait... On my second visit, the facial didn't cover my neck or decolegee. Jean forgot to wax me until after the facial, so she explained she wouldn't be able to do my upper lip (meaning I would have to pay someone else to do it later), but she did wax my brows. Perhaps because of the exfoliating strength of the facial treatment that skin had just endured, it pulled off a few layers of skin in addition to brow hairs, and resulted in unsightly scabbing above my eyes that lasted 2-3 weeks. Jean also didn't provide me with product refills of cleanser and lotion... not wanting to think the worst, I assumed she had forgotten to restock me. On the third visit, Jean rescheduled me at the last minute to a new hire, Suzie. Suzie didn't know much of what was going on, and Jean clearly hadn't bothered to update Suzie on the clients she would be seeing that day (see below: Suzie asked me what type of products she should use in my facial -- umm, that's what I pay *you* for, honey!) My facial again didn't cover the neck or decologee. At the end of the appointment, I had to ask Suzie for more cleanser and lotion, at which point she attempted to charge me for the products I had been promised were free. Feeling uncomfortable, I explained that Jean (the owner) has promised those products were included as part of the cost... at which point Suzie provided me with a tiny sample of the cleanser - enough to last perhaps 1/4 of the time until my next visit - and no facial lotion at all. No mention of the previously promised travel kit for the honeymoon was ever made... needless to say, that promise was broken. 2. Sketchy billing policies I was feeling pretty uncomfortable about the entire situation by this point, but it gets worse: Suzie asked me what pre-paid billing plan I was on. Not having heard of this option previously - and interested whether they offered discounts - I asked what my options were. Suzie literally didn't answer me, left the room after an uncomfortable silence, was gone for a few minutes, and would only say upon her return, "don't you worry, the price you are getting is really a great deal." SHADY. What reason would a salon have to prevent their clients from knowing and being able to choose their service options and prices? 3. Unknowledgeable esteticians Aftet two appointments with Jean, the owner of the salon, she cancelled my third appointment with her, rescheduling me to a new hire at the last minute, Suzie. Suzie may have graduated from beauty school (maybe.. see below for the cystic acne & new fine lines that resulted from seeing her), but I do know that she literally asked me mid-facial what products she should be using on me. Seriously? That is the supossed "expertise" for which I was paying $65 / hour. Remind me again why she asked the client how to do her job? 4. Service made my skin break out in cystic acne, and worsened fine lines. After this entire uncomfortable, highly unprofessional experience, the results are that I have 4 cystic ance eruptions on my face, and new fine smile lines at the corners of my mouth. At 30, its been at least 5 years since I've had this type of acne, and never so severe as to have multiple cyctic ance eruprtions at once. And new fine lines have appeared, smile creases at the edge where my smile amd cheeks meet. I'd pay money to undo this experience. I'm happy to report I've found a new estecian, and her services improve the texture, appearance, and tone of my skin. Do yourself a favor, keep Jean and Suzie away from your skin!! read more
