Poor lash tinting job as compared to other places in Portland. Stylist seemed inexperienced. She did not let the tint sit on my lashes and it did not last more than a week. She also poked and prodded at them.. Possibly trying to clean tint off my skin, I'm not sure, but it resulted in my most painful (as far as eyes burning/ tearing up) tint yet. Unfortunately I had a series of poor service here. This is the first negative review I have ever given any business. Since there were so many incredibly unprofessional things happening, it's best to list it in order: 1). I scheduled an appointment for eyelash extension, shellac manicure and a pedicure 2 months in advance for 10am. The hours posted say 9am - sometime in the evening, but at 10:15, the doors were still locked. I got a call a couple of hours later saying that there was no record of my appointment. 2.) I rescheduled for a week later. Then got a call the next day saying that they're actually closed for a PR event in the morning and wanted to change my new 10am appointment (this time for a cut/extensions/shellac mani/and pedi) to 2:30pm. I said I had a meeting nearby at 6:30 and they guaranteed - numerous times - that it could be done in time. I was doubtful, but said okay. 3.) When I showed up, they were still filming the PR spot. My appointment ran 30 minutes late. I had to sit on a barstool in the corner (then was asked to move and stand in the corner) so I wouldn't be in their commercial. Perhaps I should have just left then. 4.) Both people working were then confused why I had so many services in such a short time frame and I was told they simply couldn't do it all in that time. I opted for a quick cut, shellac mani only (with no lotion/massage/etc.), no pedicure, and eyelash extensions to get it done in time. 5.) For the haircut, I was asked when I was seated, "You know it's dry cut only, right?" No, I wasn't told that (and I have curly hair). The reason? They don't have stations installed yet. The "cut" took 10 minutes max. 6.) They had no tinfoil to remove existing shellac and only four of the new strips to remove it. The manicure was okay. 7.) The eyelash extensions were very nice. 8.) I had already paid in advance for these services. However, since I'd paid for a package shellac mani/pedi combo I told them I would pay then for the manicure and come back in 2 weeks for the combo I'd already paid for. I was charged a total of $55 for the manicure - $40 for a "manicure" and an additional $15 for shellac. I've never been charged $55 for a no-frills shellac in my life. 9.) I just called to schedule the mani/pedi combo and was told their "nail station won't be ready for another month or so, but would I like to schedule for the end of September?" No. I'm just going to take a loss on what I've already bought. Overall, the service is perhaps the worst I've ever experienced. Exceptionally unprofessional and unorganized. It's unfortunate because the location is good for me and the eyelash extension work is very good. However, when I do get compliments on my eyelashes, I have to tell people my experience and I recommend them to another salon that does similar quality work without repeated bad service. read more

The facility is beautiful and clean, and all the housekeeping/administration for my visit was painless - almost as painless as my waxing session! Korysa is exacting and systematic in her approach to hair removal, which is a lovely change of pace from the slap-dash waxing done in nail salons of ill repute. Beyond her excellent work, Korysa is highly concerned with her clients' comfort, and is excellent at creating a fun and easy-going vibe around a procedure that is painful by necessity. Andy and Karissa are absolute angels! Andy gives the most detailed and wonderful microdermabrasion treatments. It feels like a lose couple of years after each treatment. Karissa is Portland's #1 airbrush tan artist. The spa ambiance is darling, classy and modern. Also, they advised me in permanent removal of a very serious burn scar, and helped me purchase the Skin Medica TNS serum. If you have a serious scar, the TNS serum available at Skin Tight is a MUST (this was less than 5 layers from 3rd degree, now I have no scar). read more

I have never ever written a negative review of any business, but I feel people need to know... I had eyelash extensions done 10 days ago. I only have one left on the corner of my right eye (In the picture I have about 4 left - the long ones) I am VERY, VERY, VERY disappointed. I took great care of them and followed all the after care instructions. I avoided water for 48hrs and then when I showered about half of them fell off. These are supposed to be waterproof and the glue is supposed to set in 24hrs. I called and she kept assuring me that this is "normal" for your first set and that my lashes are "just getting used to them". I am sorry but something is wrong when the ENTIRE set falls off 10 days later! She also used "rubbing alcohol" on my eyes, which burned and my eyes were red and goopy for several days. She also assured me this is "normal". I tried calling the spa several times today and no one is answering the phone. I also stopped by in person and the door was locked. It is Saturday afternoon. Their hours on the door states they are open on Saturday. I wanted to have them look at my eyelashes because I only had a couple left dangling on. I would like my money back! Don't waste your money here, go somewhere else! Initially, I was not happy with the shape. They made my eyes look small and round. I wanted to have longer ones on the corners added, but then the extensions started to fall off! I went here because it had good reviews...What happened? It makes me wonder... I have been trying to call all day. What kind of spa is closed on Saturday? No note was left on the door... and the door hours say they are open...? NOT a good experience! I want a refund! read more

This was by far the worst experience I've had at a salon or spa. My friend and I booked services weeks in advance to spend a spa day together, and she made our appointments for conncurrent manicures/pedicures and facials so we could visit during the nail service. We were told to expect to be there 2- 2.5 hours. When we arrived, we were told they only had one technician for nails available and she would have to do our services back to back while the other person had her facial. While not happy, we decided to be ok with this. Then my friend was taken back for her facial and I listened to the nail technician explain to her coworker in exasperated tones how she was the only one there and because she "had to" take care of us she would not be able to see several other clients that were booked. He told her to call them and tell them they couldn't come. I started to feel guilty for even being there! This conversation should never happen in front of customers. When I went back for my nail services, the chair I was seated in was hard, upright plastic, similar to a lawn chair - very uncomfortable after the first hour and awkward for having to have my feet up. I was told I could not have a french manicure because they did not have the right brush. During the pedicure, she literally rubbed the skin off of both my big toes with the file. When I told her this she blamed this file and said it was too sharp. The pedicure and manicure took a full two hours. My friend was brought in after her facial to wait and we were able to visit a bit, however when I was finished I sat there for about twenty minutes waiting for my facial. A different woman came in and said "who needs the facial?" I said I did and she explained that she's "somehow" been double booked and needed to just go do a spray tan on another customer and she'd be back in "just a minute". Thirty minutes later I was still sitting there. By this time we'd been there three hours and I told them to forget the facial as I had to work that evening and couldn't be leaving NW Portland at 4:30. They cancelled the appointment but there was no apology. Meanwhile, the business office was across from the nail room and we could hear the owner on the phone apologizing to various customers for other issues. When my friend was finally done, the nail tech did not even walk us out to the lobby, and we stood there for several minutes being ignored while another employee arranged merchandise on the shelves before he deigned to take our money so we could leave. I'm not sure how long they will stay in business if this is their customer service model, but I certainly will not be returning. ******* 6/16/13 After reading the unprofessional and immature response from the owner of this establishment, I can now understand why we had the experience we did. I have never in my life treated a service industry employee with disrespect and everything I illustrated in my review is exactly what happened. You will notice he didn't refute one word of the problems we experienced but instead tried to make the argument about us and our nonexistent rude behavior. For my first visit to Skin Tight Spa, I was very impressed. This spa is handsomely decorated, and there is a warm vibe. I work graveyard at my job, and get off work at 8:00 am. Andy was very nice to accommodate me and book my session at 9:00 am. The location is very easy to find. It is just a quick stop off of the street car, or if you are driving, a swift drive through the Pearl District of Portland. I have had lots of work done on my face (no plastic surgery). There have been so many chemical peels, micro-dermabrasions, pixels, solar panels, etc.... I was a client of Forever Young where I received all those services. If you don't know the story about Forever Young, I'll give it to you in a nut shell. Forever Young was a company that based their products in the spa/tanning industry. They offered their services at highly discounted prices and claimed you would achieve amazing results. Well flash forward to 2013, they closed their business abruptly one night (we are talking about 4-5 locations that served over 20,000 people), and now owe hundreds of thousands of dollars in uncompleted serviced to their large clientele. Just wait, it gets even better. There have been over 800 complaints filed with the Attorney General myself included, and the Attorney General has launched an internal investigation with Forever Young. The owners, Ron and Jennifer Zemp, robbed many people of their money. Their services were offered at very cheap prices, but the quality of these services were horrible. The estheticians were not trained properly, the products such as the lazer equipment and chemical peels and micro-dermabrasions were poor (you had to buy more to get better results meaning the more you spend, the better it will be, and the Zemps pocketed more money from you), and every appointment felt rushed. Forever Young had a huge clientele base, and with such a vast amount of people paying for services, they had to get people in and out fast. I dropped over $5,000 at Forever Young, and the only thing I had to show for it was darker skin and over 100 treatments done to my face. I am very fortunate that I do not look like I had a horrible face lift from a foreign country. Back track to Skin Tight Spa. You are wondering why I made such a spiel about Forever Young. Well, I love to get these types of services done. They improve my self esteem I have about my physical appearance, and I take care of myself. After being a client of Forever Young for 6+ years and the sham they were running, I became very skeptic of any spa's. It took about a good year for me to really start looking for a reputable business that wouldn't pick pocket you for money. One day, I met Andy Hillis who owns Skin Tight Spa. I told him about my ordeal with Forever Young and what I was looking for. Andy was very sympathetic to my situation, and he informed me on Skin Tight Spa. Andy has had every laser, chemical peel, and micro-dermabrasion done. He knows what he is talking about. You can tell just from talking to him about his services how much knowledge he has. Andy is like the Einstein of the spa industry. Now let me tell you about my sessions with Andy. Skin Tight Spa is beautifully decorated and has a warm vibe. The minute you walk in the door, Andy greets you with a huge smile and asks how your day is going. I sit down on a comfortable sofa and fill out the usual paperwork. Then we proceed to the back room to have my Dermasweep done. Bare in mind, I am one of those weirdos who have an extremely ticklish face. I forewarned Andy and he laughed and said it was fine. He started me off with a very nice facial that cleansed my skin. I almost fell asleep because it was so relaxing. Afterwards, the fun begins. He started the Dermasweep, and the giggles ran out of my mouth like I was at a triathlon. Andy had the patience of a saint with my tickling fit and took breaks when I needed. I could feel quite a difference between Andy's products and the ones Forever Young used. Forever Young was rushed, job not completed 100%, areas missed, the machine was poor quality, and they kick you out the door. With Andy, I could tell he was getting every single section on my face, he was taking his time, talked to me while I was charading with giggles because of being so ticklish, the quality of the machine was so much better then Forever Young's, and overall a nice and comfortable session. Afterwards, I walked to the mirror and saw the results. The blood had risen to the surface like it should have. That means it did its job. Collagen produced, I am a happy camper! I definitely recommend Andy At Skin Tight Spa. From someone being ripped off at Forever Young, you can trust Andy and Skin Tight Spa! read more

Skin Tight Spa is my new favorite place. The space is gorgeous. There is ample free parking, which in my opinion starts things out right! The staff is friendly and helpful--there were even treats and beverages. I had an amazing massage with Philip who has become my favorite (and only) massage therapist. He takes time to make sure he knows what the client wants, hits the sore spots and checks along the way to make sure the pressure is correct. An hour massage is great, but I always splurge and go for the hour and a half. This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. read more

Very pleased with my visit to Skin Tight Spa. Was visiting from out of town, but Andy treated me just like I was his top customer. It was completely unexpected, but before even touching my face, Andy sat me down for a personalized skin care consultation (included with facial price) so that he could better understand why I was there, what my skin care needs were, and what kind of results I wanted to see. I haven't had a skin care specialist this thorough in years. As a result, I did not receive some cookie cutter facial designed for "most" skin types, but rather a pampering session designed exclusively for me. I was also much more relaxed going into the session and able to enjoy it much more. The spa's gorgeous and calming decor also helped with this. I just had my first facial with Andy (redefining facial). It was 70 mins of heaven. From the moment I walked in, Andy was warm and gracious. He took the time to talk to me about my skin and what I wanted to achieve long term. As we chatted I filled out a small profile sheet which took about 10 minutes and then it was back to my facial. Not only was my face treated, but I got a massage across my shoulders and my scalp.
