First time visiting The Dragontree and it was a lovely experience. My friend and I opted to come in earlier to use the sauna before our massage services. The ambiance and overall vibe was very tranquil and calm. The facilities are clean and well-maintained and customer service was excellent. While the locker room area is slightly cramped, they have sufficient room to get ready and hair & skin products available for use after showering. The sauna was an added bonus! I had a 60-minute Swedish massage with an aromatherapy add-on and Muireall was my massage therapist. Muireall was wonderful and checked in frequently during the massage and catered the massage to my preferences. My husband and I spent a lovely day together at DragonTree in NW Portland and it was exactly what we had hoped for. We did the vata foot bath, head, neck and shoulder massage, and facials, and every part of the experience was so relaxing. Not ideal for a relaxing couples experience. We wouldn't go back. Our time at the spa lacked cohesion, and felt like a string of pitches to up-sell more products and services, although we had already booked a couples massage and facials (which were over $600 in value). We were told that if we arrived early, we could use the sauna, which was an unexpected and nice bonus to look forward to. However, once we arrived, we learned that there are two saunas and they are situated in gendered locker rooms, so if you do not share the same gender identity as your partner, this cannot be done together. Which is fine, depending on what you're looking for in an experience. During the couples massage, the massage therapist who worked with my partner introduced him to her own take on Swedish massage, which he was open to and even liked, but at the end of the booking, he unprompted was handed a card with a link to her website to learn more about her business. The person who worked with me, unfortunately, did not properly cool off a hot towel before placing it on my neck. I involuntarily jerked and jumped up from the sensation and it left the skin on my neck very tender, even the next day. Needlessly to say, I found the massage to feel rushed, rather than relaxing. We purchased a box of chocolates that were sold as an add-on to the couples massage. They were simply handed to us, as we were being exited from the massage room to the shared waiting lobby. It felt disingenuous for these to be marketed as part of an experience for a couples massage, when really they were more like a treat for the road home. The couples' facials we booked were held in different rooms. It would have been nice to know ahead of time. What we found is that the spa seems to be staffed by separate practitioners with their own approaches, their own styles, and their own business. Ultimately, this place could be a better fit for someone looking to book individual services rather than to spend a day at the spa with your significant other. read more

This is my second time going to the Dragontree Spa and I have nothing but good things to say about it. First off, the front desk staff has been super kind and welcoming each time I've gone. They explain how everything works at the spa (the snacks and water you can drink, how the sauna and shower work, where to store your items, etc) and answer any questions you have. I suggest getting there early so you can relax and drink some cucumber water, have some snacks and get comfy! You get a nice robe and sandals to wear. My massage therapist was Tucker and he was great. I got a deep tissue massage after hurting my back lifting at the gym and it helped soooo much. He didn't push conversation and listened to my ailments so he could help me exactly as I needed. I hit the sauna after for about 15 minutes, and then ended it with a nice warm shower. So luxurious and you aren't pressured to leave right away either. Worth every penny!! The plus side about this place is they aren't over priced. They are comparably priced to other massage therapy places so it doesn't feel like you're violating your bank account lol Parking is just street parking, it can be a little tricky to find parking right in front but the surrounding neighborhoods have ample parking. read more

Finally used my years old gift certificate - worth the wait! My facial with Jennifer was fabulous and relaxing and felt like a fresh start to the new year (albeit a few months in). She recommended some products to use and my skin was "glowy" according to my pre-teen daughter. :) My deep tissue massage with Mark was great - he could tell I'm a terrible sleeper and stressed so taught me a few relaxation techniques that were helpful. There were definitely some pressure points that I could feel during the massage but they were in need of help and I felt great the next day still. What an amazing experience I had at the Dragontree today! They were able to get me in same day, and the vibe upon arrival was great from the start! Ambiance is very suiting and relaxing, they have the saunas located in the locker rooms, as well as showers and products to ensure you aren't lacking anything. My name is Alesha I had a wonderful massage at the Dragontree today. Unfortunately the woman (red hair) who gave me my foot bath made reference three or more times to 'getting me out of there' maybe halfway or closer to the end of my bath not sure.... and it felt personal after a while.(???) Not sure why she felt the need to keep reiterating that?? I had no intention of overstaying my $37 foot bath. Very strange, also the fact that I was the only African American person in the establishment that I could see, that treatment certainly didn't make me feel any more welcome. I do wonder if she would've said the same had I not been a person of color. It didn't sit well with me at all. My first visit here was wonderful, this time, with the exception of the massage, not so much. If I visit again, hopefully I won't work with her. It's a shame I get massages often at very nice spas, and have no problem leaving and tipping well when they're over. I normally have a great experience at the dragontree but yesterday this was not the case. I was running late for a massage and called to let them know. They told me explicitly to come when I could, and they'd get me in for the "last 10 minutes" in the worst case. Hearing this, I rushed over as fast as I could. When I arrived, with about 20 minutes left of my paid time, I was told the message therapists had left for the day. I understand why the hour of time was still charged, but I find it unacceptable that I was told to come in for a partial service and then when I arrived the service providers had left already while still expecting to be paid handsomely for that time. Update in response to owner: it is deeply telling to dismiss the concerns of loyal customers. The receptionist did tell us to come as fast as we could, and that we would receive even a 10 minute massage. The receptionist who checked us in was new, took a very long time processing us and didn't even mention the massage. Then, after a lengthy discussion the on-site manager, I am not surprised your records would reflect a later time stamp. I understand the cancellation fee is in place to respect the therapists time. However, it's then reasonable to expect the therapists to stay for the entire time they are paid. We were told they had already left the site twenty minutes early. We were also told it's not feasible to receive a shorter massage due to set up and take down, which made no sense since the massage rooms should have been set up prior to the start time, and take down should occur after the massage time has ended. We have enjoyed the dragontree for many years. Unfortunately, after how we were treated during our last visit, and this very dismissive Yelp response, we will have to reconsider. read more

I liked the ambience and enjoyed the spa feel in NW Portland. My boyfriend and I got a deep tissue couples massage. Afterwards, he told me that his masseuse was not applying nearly enough pressure. He felt that his deep tissue massage was a relaxation massage and didn't walk away feeling better about his stiffness or knots. Meanwhile, my masseuse ran her lotion ladened hands through my hair without asking if I wanted my scalp to be oil slicked. Also, she literally tugged my hair into a tight ponytail several times which made for an odd experience. It would be helpful if the masseuses communicated better by asking if we wanted more or less pressure or, by asking permission before getting someone's hair full of lotion. Their saunas are located within their respective women's or men's locker room and they're incredibly small. I wish it was a coed sauna.The door leading into the women's room has 0 privacy. I'm a longtime client of The Dragontree and never disappointed with the staff, the treatments, the cost or the environment. There is absolutely nothing that I would change or suggest that they do differently. The only addition that would make this place perfect would be some sort of Japanese soaking pool or Jacuzzi hot tub, if they had room to add it. I had another Swedish massage on Saturday by Andrew. I don't know what to say other than...that dude is the BOMB! He has a very intuitive sense of what's sore and how much pressure to apply. Somehow he zeroed in right in the precise spot between my shoulder blades that needed worked out. I left feeling about 1,000% better and slept like a baby last night. The Dragontree is pretty much always good, and of course the atmosphere is nice. It's a little bit spendy but then...when it comes to the types of services they offer you really do get what you pay for. I'll be visiting Andrew again for sure! read more

I came in on 6/27/25 for a prenatal massage. The spa itself is nice. The women's locker room is way too small with no privacy. The table for the massage is incredibly narrow for pregnant women who need to safely move and adjust, and there's no step stool to help you get onto the table. The massage utilizes a bolster which isn't ideal, because you need to shift to your other side halfway thru. You guys need to switch to the belly pillows that have a hole for the belly to go into. At payment, the front desk told me I would be paying a 20% tip, and didn't first ask WHAT I would like to tip. Skip this place and go somewhere else. read more

Quite some time ago, I bought my wife a gift certificate for a massage a Dragontree. Our schedules are busy and it took a while for her to finally book her appointment since I wanted to make sure I was available to drive her home so she could contintue to stay relaxed after her massage. 36 hours before her appointment she woke up sick and called to reschedule first thing, literally as soon as humanly possible. She had to leave a voicemail explaining the situation. Hours later she received a voicemail in return stating that they would be charging the card on file for 50% of the cost of the treatment for canceling within 48 hours. Seriously? I understand it's a stated policy, but I've also managed customer service teams long enough to know exceptions aren't difficult to make especially when a customer's primary concerns are the health and safety of my team. I've already looked into the policies of other spas in town and have found a number of them are more reasonable. I guess going forward, I'll spend my money with them. read more

I came to The Dragontree with a gift certificate and booked their monthly special which included a foot bath, head/neck/shoulder massage and a 60 minute muscle melt massage. Courtney took care of my foot bath and it was a very pleasant experience, After that was complete Tucker came to take care of my head/neck/shoulder massage which was fantastic. It was a great mix of relaxation and working my tight muscles. Both of these services were completed in the Sangha Room which is a community space but was very lovely and calm. Then Tucker took me to an individual room for my muscle melt massage which used a tincture along with a full body deep tissue massage. I cannot say enough good things about Tucker's massage skill. They gave me the best massage I've ever had. This was the best treat for me and I'd highly recommend a visit to this spa to anyone in the Portland area. read more

I just had an amazing half hour that transformed my day - and my body! A good friend made an appointment for the two of us at The Dragontree for a service called "Pad Abhyanga" - a gentle foot and lower leg massage. I have sensitive feet and was a little anxious but the woman who gave me my massage (Heather - excellent!) told me it would be very soft - no deep tissue work. I was able to close my eyes and relax completely. It was only a half hour but I have been relaxed ever since! The room was elegant and comfortable, the scents - delicious (and I'm scent-sensitive), and my friend who had just flown from Portugal to NYC to Portland felt relaxed and refreshed. Her therapist did an equally great job - McKenzie. I highly recommend The Dragontree for a body treatment of any type. I trust them! read more
