We have been going here for around 8 years, but have recently decided to leave for a couple reasons. While the staff is polite and gentle, they don't seem very focus. During my child's checkup, the assistant paused every 30 seconds to chat and laugh with her coworkers (who did not have patients). Something that should have taken less than 3 minutes ended up taking over 5. It is extremely hard to schedule with them, since they seem to work only when my daughters are in school. They also don't work on Fridays, their last appointment is a round 2:30 (which is BEFORE school ends) and take a break during their winter vacation. It seems any appointment we schedule forces my children to miss school. Finally, they don't seem to put in a lot of care or effort. One of my daughters appointments was only about 15 minutes. This is very short for a regular dentist checkup. Also, the assistant flossed very roughly and almost broke my daughters retainer (she has a permanent metal wire on her upper and lower teeth). My daughter later told me they didn't even know she had a retainer. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. read more

We've been patients of Factoria Pediatric Dentistry for 11 years, and let me tell you Dr. Jimmy and his staff are the best! They have excellent communication, are flexible and are very knowledgeable. Two of my daughters have special conditions with their teeth and with Dr. Jimmy's prevention and treatment plans, their teeth look amazing! He is a genius when it comes to fixing chips in teeth and doing repair work. You literally cannot tell where the tooth ends and the composite material begins. On top of that his staff are very kind with children and have movies the kids can watch while having their teeth cleaned. Their waiting room is also great with Wi-Fi and reading material for adults. I'd been bringing my kids here for 13 years! The staff is like family. About two years ago I switched to a pediatric dentist closer to my house... what a mistake! My youngest was terrified of the dentist because of them. At 4 he still wouldn't open his mouth for the dentist - so I switched back! And he had a successful check up today. I'm so happy! We are Factoria Pediatric patients forever- I'll never leave again!! They are very professional, friendly, patient and organized. Anyone looking for a good kids dentist, even if you have to drive 20 minutes, its worth it!! My husband got a new job and they were able to track down his new insurance for me. This is our second pediatric dentist. We switched after my 4 year old needed some fillings and an extraction. After having a so-so experience elsewhere where we were told the situation was an emergency and the plan was to give my son 4 (silver) crowns and two extractions, we came for a second opinion. With Dr. Jimmy the situation wasn't an emergency, they were able to fill most of the cavities with fillings, only 1 crown and 1 extraction. They were able to complete all of this except for the extraction without anesthesia which was amazing! Even the general anesthesia appointment was great. My son was very relaxed and the entire staff was helpful and calming through a stressful process. Dr. Jimmy and his staff are all very kind and welcoming. They explain everything they are doing to the children and treat them with respect (my son was told not to act like a baby when he cried at 3 years old elsewhere). The office staff clearly communicate estimated costs and procedures and are willing to work with you when it comes to scheduling your appointment. After having a consistently stressful experience at another dentist we have been so happy here. Fillings and extractions are hard on a little kid but my son has been calm and happy here throughout the process. We are so grateful for the office and the staff. read more

We've been going here since 2006. I have 4 children, 10, 9, 7 and 4. All of them love going here! My kids have always been treated with the best and kindest of care We all highly recommend it. There are two different play areas which helps to distract the younger kids. The kids love picking out their own toothbrushes and flavored toothpastes. The kids are very easily distracted with their individual TV monitors over each chair. They always look forward to a movie while getting their teeth worked on. And when we leave they always go home with a bag full of goodies including a toothbrush and paste, stickers and a toy. I'm quite a bit surprised his review is not close to 5 stars. I have 2 kids who have been with his office for more than 12 years at least. Never had any issues with his office. He is surprisingly detail oriented, and my kids love this place (yes, they have movies playing during treatments). What I like the most of this office, is, the cost estimate in writing that they give me, if my kids need to treat cavities, fillings, etc in advance. I know exactly how much I would pay, how much insurance covers, etc. Yes, you'd have to have your kids skip classes most of the appointments, but pretty much all dentists work only for M-Th, so that's normal. I really like dr. Jimmy. He's really kind and gentle with my kids. I feel like to be a pediatric dentist, you probably need to be those things because you've chosen to work specifically with children. My two star knock off is because they have such restricted hours. They are only open 4 days a week and roughly 8 hrs a day. This leaves no room for working parents to be able to take their kids to appointments without taking time off work. Also, you inevitably will have to take your child out of school to make an appointment as well. I mentioned this when trying to make a follow up appointment for my kids, and the receptionist said, "well most parents just take their kids out of school". OR you can find a dentist that accommodates parents who don't want to have to do this for every dentist or doctors appointment, like I chose to do. read more

My 4 children have been patients here for 8 years. We have had stellar experiences throughout with a wide variety of care. Dr. Jimmy is professional and yet relates well to my children. A time or two, we have had billing issues related back to the insurance companies and the office staff has been incredibly helpful. They are honest and ethical while never performing a treatment unless it's truly needed, or necessary. I've been taking my boys to Factoria Pediatric Dentistry for 10 years now and can't say enough about how great they are! Both my boys have autism and sensory integration issues--which makes even the most minor procedures (like regular old cleanings) a REALLY big deal. Everyone in the office is supportive and friendly; they take however much time my guys need to relax. They take the anxiety (both mine and the boys') out of whatever work needs to be done. Dr. Jimmy and the staff are so good. We've had teeth pulled, cavities filled, sealants put on and had great experiences every time. And they always give us a call later in the day after a procedure just to see how we're doing--so nice! We couldn't be happier...my boys' teeth are in good hands :). read more

I was quite excited to hear that there is a 'pediatric dentist' in the factoria area. We brought our daughter there for her first visit, thinking that she will have a great experience there. Instead, it was a nightmare. The assistant was great but the dentist had zero patience. She asked me to hold my child down while she examined her as my daughter is kicking and crying. She never attempted to try anything to distract her with, even though she knew it was her first time at the dentist. We will never go back there again. Heard similiar experiences from other friends later. If you had to go to this clinic, I would try the other dentist at this practice. I was looking for a second opinion for my 4 year old and checked out Dr. Jimmy because of all the great things I had heard. He was so kid-friendly, funny, and patient! He is so great at explaining things in a way that kids are receptive to and was consistently praising my little guy for doing such a good job while he had his first root canal. My husband is a general dentist, and as embarassing as it is, our 2 yr old had a cavity. We chose to bring our 2 year old to this office as not to give him a scary early exposure to dentistry. It turned out he didn't have to be sedated or even numbed b/c the Dr. worked so quickly and explained everything to him. The fun atmosphere with a promise of a toy helped too. The cavity was still early so no need for a shot but as another reviewed suggested, cavities don't resolve themselves. They get deeper and don't always hurt. read more

I have used Yelp frequently but never bothered to create a profile to leave feedback. Yet our experiences with Dr. Jimmy Yun at Factoria Pediatric Dentistry is so bad that I am taking the time to make sure other parents won't go through the suffering. Our 4 and half years old kid needs to have some operations done. When it was her turn at the chair, she got pretty nervous like all young kids do at that age. She started sobbing when the doctor started with the examination. He didn't do anything to comfort her, instead, he got visibly impatient and asked the mom to calm her down. When she couldn't stop sobbing after thirty seconds, he threw down his dental instruments, removed his gloves and declared he was done. The total "operation" lasted less than 3 minutes from beginning to end. Oh, the best part? They still asked us to pay $100 for the visit. Once I shared this with a few friends, I found out we were not the only one, and after reading the review above, it seems to be a fairly common occurrence at this practice. This was our experience with this practice a while back, and to this day, it still makes me angry. Stay away. read more

Where to begin...my children have come here for many years but now I'm seriously wondering if that was such a great idea. The children like the office because of the TV screens on the ceiling and the hygienists are pretty good with the kids. The last time I came in, however, they told me my son had a cavity he needed to fill. For the first time, I went to get a second opinion since he didn't have any pain and I thought it was odd that they were fine with having it scheduled out pretty darn far - I can't remember - 4-6 months? I brought him to another pediatric dentist who told me that it was very minor and if he brushed well, it would resolve on its own. Needless to say...no filling and 9 months later, he's doing fine. Another negative experience I had was that they pushed my other son to have an X-ray (normally we go ahead with them but he HATES x-rays..) because, as they kept pushing after the cleaning, insurance covered it. Well, it turned out that it was not covered because we were maxed out on our annual benefit so we had to pay out of pocket. Furthermore, they wanted us to pay the un-contracted rate, even though they have a contract with Regence. I basically had to have multiple not so pleasant conversations with the front desk woman to get the contracted rate (and believe it or not - wouldn't allow me to talk to the dentists, Susan or Jimmy, implying they were too busy/important). What a waste of time and energy. Not to say the office is horrible. My 8 year old did have a tooth extracted by Dr. Jimmy around the time all this went on and he was gentle and did a good job. I only kept the appointment out of convenience. However, we won't be returning. I would check out the new pediatric dentist on Mercer Island if that is in your neighborhood... read more

We've been coming here for years with my two children but my frustration has been building. While the office staff seems fine (nothing spectacular) the biggest issue is their lack of scheduling options. The office hours are only during weekday school hours. In other words, this is completely not ideal for kids who are in school. The lack of scheduling flexibility has created more and more problems as it's getting a lot more difficult for my kids to miss school as they get older. It's such a shame. read more

Be careful!!! They told us last year they were no longer going to be a part of a PPO with my insurance, even sent out letters saying you DO NOT NEED TO FIND A NEW DENTIST. Told me it would only be a few dollars extra billing the way it will be. So I thought OK for a few dollars more I would stay well. So NOT true. My Son needed some work done and was to cost me 30% more. So instead of 287.00, 410.00 . In these tough economic times for the middle class this is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Be HONEST!!!!!
