Let me tell you about how Dr. Mast and Dr. Donald Lee (anesthesiologist) made my toddler (2.5 yrs old) breaking his front tooth OFF the best experience possible: I'm a nurse. When patients bleed and hearts arrest, I'm calm. I have a job to do and freaking out doesn't help. When my baby's face was accidentally kicked by a wild, flailing toddler (his brother) and my baby's face was gushing blood, I stayed calm but was DEFINITELY freaking out. Blood, poo, pee, I'm good. Teeth? NOT my thing. So, this was the worst possible situation I could encounter on vacation two states away from home. I called the top five rated Bellevue pediatric dentists with the hopes that someone, anyone with licensing would be able to immediately help my little man. Luckily, I had three responses when I awoke this morning - one of which was Bellevue Kids Dentist. I actually made an appointment with a different dentist before Bellevue Kids and cancelled it when Bellevue Kids was recommended by multiple friends of my parents. THANK GOODNESS for Dr. Mast and his awesome staff and what a wonderful choice it was to make this appointment instead! Lonny answered my first message and my call this morning with warmth and the good humor necessary for a crushed momma of a baby in crisis. Worried that my little man's beautiful smile would be forever gone - or worse - his adult teeth in jeopardy, I was so nervous about how time sensitive this issue could be. Lonny was great! We got an appointment scheduled for literally minutes after my phone call to the office. The time it took to drive to the office was how long we waited. That. Is. Unheard of! The moment we arrived, Lonny greeted us with sincere apologies for the stress and a gave us a great big hug. The family atmosphere and obvious love that office holds is incredible. The team worked together well with respect, kindness, and quickness that is required when dealing with kids. The hygienist was calm and kind. The paperwork was easy. The toys and fish tank were clean. It was all right. What was even more right was Dr. Mast. Dr. Mast was kind and considerate. He was gentle with my sore little man's face and seemed to genuinely care about his pain and well-being. He assessed the (serious) damage and was tactful in discussing the severity and our options for repair. Ultimately, my little guy's tooth is not salvageable. We had three options that were all viable and reasonable. The one we landed on involved an anesthesiologist. The problem is the emergent nature of the removal would mean scheduling difficulties as far as contacting anesthesiologists and getting someone NOW. Except! Bellevue Kids Dentists made magic happen! Their amazing staff and well-connected, awesome Dr. Mast phoned a friend and they had an anesthesiologist at the office in 30 minutes. Literal. Magic. I have no idea how they got it to happen, but they did! After extensive discussion and consideration, we ended up deciding to wait for treatment for our hometown dentist so as to reduce risks of the necessary anesthesia. Knowing our little man had other work to be done (filling on a different tooth) than just the emergent extraction, we opted for the safest route - which Dr. Mast carefully lead us to. The entire (stressful) time, Dr. Mast smiled and explained everything. I am SO incredibly grateful. The office staff was outstanding. The whole "emergency" was handled just beautifully. Strangely flakey and regularly cancelled appointments made weeks in advance for two kids. I missed a voicemail, showed up - the apt had been cancelled. The second time the cancelled I began to worry. Maybe they are going out of business, can't retain staff or are just flakes. There are lots of great options in Bellevue. They aren't reliable. read more

We just switched over to Bellevue Kid's Dentist due to an insurance switch and I'm so impressed with how gentle Dr. Jenny Lee and her staff are. We took both our autistic four year old son and eight year old daughter for a routine cleaning a month ago. After the appointment,our little guy actually looks forward to going back to the dentist. The office layout with individual stations offset in corners really helps with him as opposed to the open layout of our previous dentist which had all the stations in an open area parallel to each other. My daughter unfortunately had a cavity so we had to come back this morning for a filling and I appreciate how patient Dr. Lee and her assistant are with her. read more

This place is excellent, especially if you have a child fearful of dental procedures. Dr Mast is not just a good dentist, he should be a behavior therapist! He came up with a plan to get my son used to being at the dentists and has such a calm, gentle demeanor that we are able to get a little more done at each visit. The hygienists are all very competent and kind as well. Lonnie at the front desk is the life force of the clinic. She will make such a big deal about my son, as though she's been waiting for him to walk in all day, it makes him so happy! She is so compassionate too, she will bring over paper work, appt reminders etc, to me, so I don't have to leave my son's side and come up to the front desk. La Nette at the Snoqualmie office is another wonderful (and so efficient!) person. I only wish they were part of a dental PPO. It's not an issue with just regular cleanings and check ups but I do wonder what my out of pocket costs would look like for more complex procedures. read more

Tip: Ask for a vaccinated dental assistant to clean your kids' teeth. Some of their dental assistants are not vaccinated. This is especially risky since your child cannot have a mask on during teeth cleaning. read more

Let's start off with the front desk people. Talk about feeling welcome when you walk in. They are so wonderful and greet you with a big smile. You feel like a rock star coming in. My son has been seeing Dr. Cody since he was one. My son was terrified his first couple of visits and now LOVES going to the dentist. Dr. Cody and his nurses are great explaining what they are doing to both the kids and the parents. My son had a small cavity he had to have filled. Of course this sent me into a panic since I knew he was going to have a shot. (He's only 4) Dr. Cody and his staff gave us a sheet that has "lingo" and how to explain to your child what is going to happen. For a month we talked about sugarbugs and how Dr. Cody was going to get them out. The day of my sons appointment went flawless! My son didn't cry and they did such an excellent job making sure my son and myself were okay. This is an amazing place!! read more

How many parents can say that their kids cannot wait to go to the dentist. ME, I can! My son LOVES Dr. Cody and cannot wait for his appointment every 6 months. They have video games, dvds, a huge toy chest and a cavity free club that some lucky patient who had no cavities gets a prize. The staff is over the top amazing and all are just wonderful with kids. This office ROCKS. I could not imagine my kids being in better hands for their teeth. read more

We just moved to Issaquah from New Mexico and needed to find a dentist for my 21 month son for his first dentist appointment. After doing some research and reading reviews we picked Bellevue Kids Dentist. The location is in a very quiet area and there is plenty of free parking. The website was very easy to navigate and all of the forms that I needed to fill out were readily available on it so I could do all of my paperwork beforehand. The receptionist was very excited to meet my son. I was surprised how kid friendly she was. There were plenty of toys to keep my son busy. All of the staff from the dental assistants to the dentist were extremely kid friendly (we saw Dr. Nelson, she was awesome!), in fact all of them had kids themselves. All in all a very positive experience. I was very impressed and would definitely recommend them to all of my friends! read more

Very bad customer service, especially phone call system. They will call you from a no-number and you cannot know who they are. Plus, even if you leave their clinic, they will keep bothering you and reminding you about the appointment. Very annoying!!! I would definitely not recommend this dentist to other people. read more

The best dental experience ever. Dr. Jenny knew exactly how to handle an emergency visit to the Dentist at 8:30pm for an 8 year old boy with a painful crack/chip that left roots exposed. Woohoo! As good as it gets is right! I can't say enough great things about this business, it is the first business or practice in a long time that has wowed me, not only with the quality of the practice and dental work, but the customer service etc. This is the Nordstrom of Pediatric (or non-Pediatric) Dental Practice. My sister in law recommended Bellevue Kids Dentist when my 17 month old son fell at the pool 2 days ago, and badly chipped his two front teeth. Walking in, the facility was super nice, clean, lot's of toys and a welcoming PNW feel. Lonnie and Laurie at the front desk, were the most welcoming and friendly and funny gals I have encountered in a long time. As my 17 month old was running through the lobby causing a ruckus and trying to get into the appointment rooms -while I was trying to fill out paperwork, Lonnie scooped him up and said, "Don't worry, he has lot's of Aunties here. He can be my Jr. Assistant", which made it so I could actually complete the paperwork! Laurie and Lonnie were super accommodating to my insurance issue as well. I had recently transitioned companies and upon the start of my new job, my insurance paperwork was lost and was being worked out internally with my company. Not a frustrated look in the building, not even a comment, but a smile and "email it to me when it comes through." It was taken care of today, and I can't tell you how nice it was NOT to have to battle at check in, with reasoning surrounding why I didn't have my insurance card on me (which did happen at another dentist we tried to walk into, while my poor little guys mouth was bleeding). Dr. Cody was so friendly, he was great about telling me what he was doing as he was doing it. He even drew me a picture of what my son had done to his tooth and what it would look like on the inside. He had a plan, which included follow up and what to look for as well as what he would do, if it was his like aged daughter. He also gave me some great tips (which I would not have thought of otherwise) on how to brush at home and get him more comfortable for his next Dental visit. I also loved that he has two young daughters of his own, and has real world knowledge of how to work with toddlers on dental hygiene. He was realistic and very smart. We saw Dr Cody. I was a little late due to traffic - they were very accommodating. I am so impressed with how they work with children. I actually learned from them and my kids first ever dental appt went off without a hitch. I highly recommend this business. The dentist even recommended a good kids dentist closer to us as it's a drive. After our visit, we will make the trek to BKD because it's worth it. The Best! The Best!! THE BEST!!!! I was referred to Bellevue Kids Dentist by a friend of mine who has twins. First off I noticed how AMAZING the staff was when I took my infant son in for a routine dental exam. The front desk staff is beyond WONDERFUL. They are bright and cheery. The dental hygienists are FANTASTIC. They are GENTLE and CARING. The dentists are BRILLIANT. They are thorough and meticulous and I didn't feel rushed or like I asked too many questions. You can tell that everyone there LOVES their job. The entire experience was GREAT. How many people can say taking an infant to the dentist was a GREAT experience? The staff was utterly INCREDIBLE when we had a dental emergency. I called in a total panic and the front desk calmed me down and IMMEDIATELY got the dentist on the phone. The dentist talked me down from a panic and they got me in RIGHT AWAY. They even checked in with me to make sure I was okay. Seriously I can not say enough NICE things about them.
