We have been to a lot of children's dentists to find the right fit for my kiddo with autism. He has had some not great experiences with other providers and developed some pretty severe anxiety when it came to going to the dentist. The office is SO accommodating for my very nervous son. They meet him where he is at and respect his boundaries. They take the time to earn his trust and never try and pull a fast one on him. He actually can get his exam and a cleaning and it's such a relief to know he can get the care he needs. Dr. Aimee is absolutely incredible, the techs are all so sweet, and the front office is super helpful and even lets my kiddo peek at their office equipment. Milla's first dentist appt went well. She just turned two and she now likes the dentist. She was unsure at first but after being given some frozen stickers and a new toothbrush she warmed up. She was on my lap with her head on the dentist's lap. When the first started looking in her mouth she said "mommy help, I need help mommy!" But they quickly started singing songs to her and she laid there calmly as they checked her mouth. Then it was so funny when they cleaned her teeth because she kept trying to lick the cotton candy tooth paste and she would say " it is yummy mommy, it is so good". Afterwards they gave her a prize. I really like this place the staff is friendly and great with kids. The place is very inviting for a child, the tv was playing tangled, there were lot of toys for my kids to play with. Everyone here knows what they are doing and works so well with children of all ages. My 18 month old who is a typical toddler just had his teeth examined and cleaned. My 4 year old was in another seat also being cleaned. It went way better than expected. I didn't think he would hold still long enough for them to look at his teeth. They are great at what they do. I decided to come to this pediatrics dental clinic since it was close to my home. I took both my kids in for a check-up/cleaning since they were due for their 6 mths follow-up. There's easy parking and the clinic itself is clean with some toys for the kids to play with and even video monitors to watch DVD's. The staff in general are very nice and calm, and a couple of times, Angel, who was up at front would ask if I would like some coffee or tea. She was very sweet and patient. When my kids' appt time arrived, the dental assistant was very nice. Both my kids were a bit apprehensive, but surprisingly they did well. The DA didn't rush and she took her time to get the kids comfortable before trying to clean their teeth. Then the kids' dentist came to see them--Dr. Aimee Bernardez-Fu, and I found her very calm and patient. My daughter was pretty apprehensive, but Dr. Aimee was good in handling her. She even tried singing a little song while brushing and checking my daughter's teeth to distract her, which I think helped my daughter to calm down a bit. Afterwards, Dr. Aimee gave me good information about what her assessment with my kids' teeth were and treatment options, and I didn't feel any pressure to make a decision at that moment to get anything done or scheduled, unlike my kids' last dental place. the dentist that we saw was wonderful, but his financial coordinator was a bit pushy...so with Kirkland Children's Dentistry, I felt a little more at ease without any pressure. Even during the week, I kind of had a confusion with the amount I paid leaving the office and the EOB that was sent to me a few days later...I emailed the office to question it, and within the hour, got a phone call from Angel to clarify any discrepancies. Overall, I feel this office is very professional. If my kids seem to stay calm without screams and tears, then it's definitely a place I will continue to go to read more

Wow! We took our 10 yr old kiddo in for his routine checkup, which was our first visit with Dr. Aimee and company. First impressions were fantastic! The office itself is very kid friendly and welcoming. The staff is so friendly and put us at ease right away. Dr. Aimee and Devon did a fantastic job engaging our kiddo during the entire visit, and he came out of it saying he likes going to the dentist! During that first visit, Dr. Aimee found a few things (ie cavities and the like) that required a follow up appointment. She took the time to explain the issues to us, why it would be good to get those things taken care of, and then walked us patiently through the various treatment options.There was no artificial pressure to schedule anything further, and Dr. Aimee even offered to send her diagnoses on to another dentist if for whatever reason we wanted to go somewhere else! We could definitely tell that she cared first and foremost for our kiddo, and wasn't just suggesting superfluous procedures. So we decided to get the additional work done, and the office staff was able to work with our schedule to get something on the books quickly. Even though the kiddo was a bit nervous the day of the follow up appointment, he was very much put to ease remembering how great the first appointment was. And our second appointment did not disappoint! Even though it involved needles and drills, Dr. Aimee and Devon were able to explain to our kiddo what was happening throughout the procedure in a very kid-friendly way that made it seem "easy" and no big deal. They engaged him the entire time and he didn't even realize when the needle went in! Needless to say, he was a happy camper not just because the procedure went so well, but because he could see the visible results of the procedure and how much better his smile looked afterwards. All to say, Kirkland Children's Dentistry is really a gem of a dental practice. Dr. Aimee and staff really have a way of putting kids at ease. We are so fortunate to have found Kirkland Children's Dentistry and can't imagine bringing my daughter anywhere else. She has had trouble at other dentists in the past, but Dr. Aimee has been patient and was committed to working with us to create a positive experience for her. She recommended that we come in one time just so my daughter could become familiar with the space, play with some toys and watch movies. This clinic is lovely. My children are swept up by the amazing child-friendly staff and i could probably sit back and have a coffee (if i was that kind of parent). All three of my kids had a regular check the other day. When we walked in, a movie was playing that frightened my daughter. I thought thw visit would be doomed but the hygienist (Devon) brought her around slowly. I think Devon spent more time breaking the shy-barrier than cleaning her teeth... But this built huge rapport and my daughter now thinks that her teeth were cleaned by a Disney princess. A small disclaimer:we have never needed anything more than routine cleaning for the kids here so i can comment on any more advanced procedures. read more

Can't imagine a better dentist to take my baby. The layout is so well thought out for children to every last detail. Dr Aimee and her staff are very welcoming to both children and their parents. They did an amazing job entertaining my one year old while answering all my questions in a relaxed environment. The staff and hygienist are very friendly and really know how to work with kids. I'm always amazed at how patient they're with each child. I was really nervous that my kid would be clingy and not listen/cooperate, but the hygienist engaged her in conversation and slowly explained all the tools. My four year old daughter was super happy and bouncy after the appointment. The movies and toys in the waiting area are also really helpful, except when I'm trying to get her to leave :). Love this dental clinic! Such a kid-friendly and cute office, all the staff is great and Dr. Aimee is the best! They really try to make it an enjoyable and educational experience for the kids (and parents too!). Dr. Aimee is so gentle, kind and patient with the children. She really has a gift for this field. I have called in with questions before and got a very quick reply, great explanation to my question and really felt like my concerns were being addressed and mind put at ease. We first attended the parent dental lecture when my son was a newborn and we started him early on dental hygiene regimen. He is 2.5 now and loves brushing his teeth, even lets me floss and use a dental pic to scrape off plaque build-up. Such great healthy dental habits to start young! I couldn't recommend Dr. Aimee and her staff more highly! They are absolutely wonderful. We've been coming here since both my kids were about a year old (3.5 and 5.5 years old now) and we've never once had anything but a fantastic experience. And the dental care is top notch, the dental assistants do a thorough job and take time to talk about best practices with you, and Dr. Aimee is very knowledgeable and capable. Dr Aimee and her staff are great with kids and very patient. They even have a special chair with a TV on the ceiling playing movies. My 3.5 year old lives it and didn't want to get out of the exam chair as she did a "lap exam" with my 1.5yr old. This is when you hold a young child in your lap with his hea hanging over your knees and Dr Aimee jumps right into their exam. She is REALLY quick. Beat of all, they have 4 drawers of prizes! I think it took longer for my boys to pick a prize than the exam. I can't recommend them enough. read more

My kids love Dr. Aimee! She held a parental dental education lecture and demo in her office last year and I took my back then 2 year old son there. She was very calm and enthusiastic which made him feel comfortable, he felt so at home that he opened his mouth and followed her directions without resistance (this is rare!). She answered all of our questions and gave us some very helpful preventive tips. Both my boys still ask about seeing Dr. Aimee! I was referred to KCD from a coworker and and based off of her referral I brought my 5 year old for her first dental exam with Dr. Aimee! Dr. Aimee was great and very patient. The office was nice and up-to-date and I felt safe that my children's health was in their hands. Dr. Aimee has always been great. A few weeks ago my son had injured his front permanent tooth while riding a scooter. Dr. Aimee came in on a Saturday within an hour or so of the injury and repaired the tooth. I thought for sure we would have to wait until Monday which would have been stressful. KCD has always been great but the test is when things go sideways. They have been highly helpful with the few emergencies we've had! read more

I think this dentist works well with children who are comfortable at the dentist. My son is not, and requires sedation. A few years ago, he had a cavitiy filled with Dr. Aimee, had two types of oral sedative (no anesthesia) and our experience was very good. Our most recent visit, the office prescribed much less sedation, and when our son became uncooperative, asked my husband to hold down his arms and legs, which was traumatic for my son. When my husband refused to continue restraining our 5-year old, we were told he'd need full anesthia. A few weeks later, we were surprised to see a bill from Kirkland Children's Dentistry-- it was for the office visit and oral sedative. We paid the bill, cut our losses and found another dentist who worked with us to provide the oral sedative and fix my son's tooth. As a side note: I've read about this issue with other dentists. It may be that we should have immediately told the dentist we would not hold down our child prior to the appointment. read more

This is seriously the best pediatric dentist I've seen. First off, the receptionist is fantastic. Calling and making an appointment was extremely easy, and she was very clear, helpful, and kind. She seemed genuinely happy, and was an awesome person to work with at the front desk. I got stuck in traffic and ended up being late for my appointment, but the staff was extremely patient and kind. The office is clean, up to date, and super kid friendly. My kids wanted to spend more time in the waiting room, even though we didn't have to wait! The dental assistants worked so well with my 5 year old and 2 year old. They are VERY good with kids, and put both of them at ease. There were fun things for the kids to look at while waiting (one child had to wait while the other was getting x-rays) so I was never worried I didn't have anything to occupy them with. The dentist was very kind as well, great with my kids, and very informative. All the staff is extremely friendly and puts you at ease. It's the best experience we've had at a dentist office, pediatric or otherwise. My kids didn't want to leave. read more

I needed to switch dentists for my 9 year-old daughter because the individual insurance coverage we just subscribed to wasn't accepted by her regular pediatric dentist. While we liked her other dentist fine, my daughter and I LOVED Dr. Aimee Kong and her staff! When you first arrive they give you a little questionnaire about your child's interests to help them get to know your child. Upon taking my girl back to the exam area (very cheerful and open) the hygienist (I think it was Shanna) was great at building rapport with my daughter right away. It was casual, fun, and put her right at ease. Not an easy task at all with her in a new environment or in any kind of stressful situation. When it came time to get some tough plaque out of my daughter's front teeth Dr. Aimee herself sat down and gently did the job herself, all the while talking and encouraging her squirmy patient. It was pretty awesome to see. I can't imagine a kid not taking to Dr. Aimee and Shanna. As the parent, I was waiting for the dreaded "your child isn't doing a good enough job brushing" talk, but instead I got a good report along with reasonable advice for the future. An especially nice touch? After the examination and cleaning we got to meet the office dog, a real sweetheart. I would recommend this easy-to-find office in Kirkland to anyone who needs a children's dentist. Whether we keep our current insurance or not, we will definitely keep our new dentist. read more

My son just turned 2, and I took him to Kirkland Children's Dentistry for his first ever appointment. I made the appointment a couple of weeks out, and talked to him about the upcoming appointment each day when brushing his teeth, to hopefully prepare him. My son usually has a laid back attitude about everything, and I was hopeful that he'd be relaxed when he had his first dental visit. All of the staff at Kirkland Children's Dentistry were very friendly and made for a non-threatening visit. My son was excited to show how much of a big boy he was, and wanted to sit in the exam chair all by himself. He was thrilled to know that they had blueberry flavored toothpaste, and loved the experience of having his teeth cleaned. I'm so grateful that I found Kirkland Children's Dentistry, and that my son's first dental checkup was such a positive experience. Dr Aimee and the KCD team are fantastic. Both our kids love Dr. Aimee, and love seeing the office dog, Denver! Our 7 year old has a clean dental bill of health, brushes and flosses consistently and enjoys going to the dentist. But our 4 year old had a long history of resisting brushing and keeping his mouth clamped tight when we went to the dentist. We switched over to KCD and Dr Aimee was very patient, built great rapport with him and has helped him get back on track AND helped him and us with strategies to get him to brush and floss more often. He's had to have a couple of cavities taken care of (remnants of his prior resistance), and while no one likes novacaine, he had a great experience. The office itself is clean, well laid out and has a nice toy section and area to watch a movie while the kids wait or have their appointment. It should be noted that we drive all the way to Kirkland from south Seattle to see Dr. Aimee - that says it all! We highly recommend KCD to anyone with kids! read more

This place is GREAT!! The staff is so friendly and amazing and made our visit here comfortable. My daughter is somewhat shy, and always takes more time to warm up to other people, but she did amazing! Jamie at the front desk is the sweetest person and so helpful. My favorite part is seeing all those plush stuffed animals right when you walk in. Even as an adult, you just want to surround yourself in this pile of softness, snuggle, and fall asleep. Dr. Aimee is a very kind, patient and skilled dentist. I feel like I can ask her questions and she doesn't try to sell us services we don't need ("Sealants still look good..."). I don't know how long I've been taking my daughter here but it's been years now, they have been wonderful with her. She loves going to the Dentist which makes it so much nicer for her and me. I had originally gone to this office when Dr. Clint was with this practice. Since leaving, I have had billing nightmares and they sent the account to a collection agency that is completely horrible. I would NEVER do business with this office again. I miss Dr. Clint, but this new incarnation of the practice is horrible!!! Avoid them like the plague..... read more
