Ignored us for twenty minutes after paying the previous server--next shift acted like we were invisible. When I got the bartenders attention and asked for a drink I was surprised to learn we were cut off with some lame excuse about 'overserving,' pinning it on the previous bartender who'd just left. No scene caused, was not belligerent and I understand they have a responsibility and job to do. What I don't understand is why the first server could not have said anything to us but rather wanted to settle the bill as her shift was ending and that the next server would assist us. Blame game instead of service? Garbage management. Zero stars if I could. read more

Solid spot! Great food, prices, portions and service. They have two patios. A small one at the front overlooking the danforth with about 4-5 tables and then a large space in the back. Pizza was really good. The base tastes like fresh tomatoes just picked from your yard. Not overly salted or seasoned. I think it's brick oven. Delicious and huge ! 5/5 The home run for me was the grilled cheese sandwich. Halloumi with Apple, carmelized onion and greens. Wow! 5/5 They take covid safety seriously unlike many other places. I was able to check this place out when we were allowed on the patios. They have a cute patio in the back of the restaurant, it had a backyard vibe which I definitely enjoyed and appreciated. The server got our drink orders right away (Dark & Stormy, Margarita) and it wasn't too long before we had it! We also ordered sweet potato fries to start and for our entrées my friend got the Rigatoni a la Vodka, which they advertise that "people travel a long way for", and I got 1 lb. of Hot Jumbo Wings. I had a bit of my friend's pasta and it was delightful, cooked perfectly and sauce was very well done! The hot wings I got were a great size and were served with fries, carrot sticks & blue cheese. The wings were juicy and the fries were crispy. Overall I had a great dining experience here and I'm hoping we're able to dine-in once again sooner rather than later. A ladies Saturday xmas shopping afternoon on the Danforth had us lunching at Factory Girl. No reservation so was pleasantly surprised that they were able to seat us on arrival around 12:15pm. We typically order their specialty pizzas as they are top notch, but we changed it up this time. I ordered the Crab Cake Benny and the other ladies ordered the Eggs Cordoba. The crab cakes were crispy but not dry, but it's the lemon dill sauce that took centre stage. Delish!! Fresh leafy greens and well portioned made for an amazing meal. As for the opinion of the other ladies, they found their dishes flavourful. Unfortunately, no "wow" factor compared to their pizzas so next time will be ordering pizza. We popped in here for a late lunch following an interminable medical appointment. What a find! Will make a point of returning. This lovely gastropub has a great atmosphere, service, menu and two of the best pizzas we've had a in a long time. We opted for the Luigi and Francesca pizzas. Both done to perfection and absolutely delicious. Served with hot pepper flakes and chili oil on the side. Wine list was also very good. All in all, a most pleasant experience. read more

Getting home late last night, this is the only image I had in mind as my dinner. Boy did Factory Girl deliver. All I could think of was their Margherita pizza made with their own soda water like dough. When you can achieve the crunch and chew together in each bite - it creates a memory you need to rekindle. The fresh basil, delicate sauce and the density of the cheese make for an incredible experience. Be sure to ask for olive oil on the side; great to lightly drizzle over - apparently selected by owner for it's full flavour and no bitterness. I had a glass of white, finished dinner and headed home to dream of my encounter all in an hour! Looking forward to stopping in soon. read more

This is one of my favourite spots on the Danforth! There's always very delightful entrées that vary from time to time, and they're consistently done well. In terms of ambience, music legends adorn their classic rustic look, finished with a welcoming friendly atmosphere. This Wednesday noon, I was fortunate enough to be the first diner as they opened and I went with the Factory Chicken ("pan fried boneless breast of chicken, lightly breaded, oregano, white wine, olive oil, lemon") paired with sautéed daily vegetables. It was an exquisitely prepared plate of the finest tender poultry breast; I could not wait, thus immediately took to my cutlery and was rewarded with the simple yet refined taste of this freshly made dish, hence no photos! I also enjoyed a fine order of poutine in a red whine gravy. Needless to say I couldn't finish this generous spread and was able to bring home a very nice treat for my partner. Although I no longer live on the Danforth, Factory Girl will always be a well-earned staple establishment in the area! read more

Really just a genuinely great spot. I feel like a lot of places have gimmicks or tricks to sell themselves, this place sells itself. Menu has a little something for everyone, the staff are friendly and the service is quick. Food flies out of the kitchen like the wind. This place looks so small from the outside, don't be fooled! There is lots of seating and the cutest patio tucked away at the back. We came here for lunch and split a pizza. The pizza had a very thin crust and was cooked in a pizza oven, my fav! The sauce was to die for and they used fresh mozzarella which is so much better than the pizza mozzarella that comes pre-shredded. I go out to lunch quite regularly and as such, we often end up going to the same place over and over. One such place is Factory Girl which we are now likely to avoid in future. First off, they REALLY need to change their menu! It's been the same for years now and it's become so boring. Too limited! And what restaurant doesn't have BREAD?!!! Don't bother asking for garlic bread because they don't even have PLAIN BREAD. Guess they're on the Keto Diet? Well, the rest of the world ISN'T and sometimes, we'd LIKE BREAD WITH OUR MEAL! It is a great spot for Danforth people watching but if you really want a rather overpriced and under-satisfying salad, then be my guest. But don't expect any bread. read more

Came here on a Monday night during a concert and it wasn't too busy. I loved their patio as it was tucked behind their restaurant. Came with a party of 4 and we all ordered our individual pizzas. I found the crust too thin, but at least it was packed with toppings. Each pizza ranged from $15-$18 I believe. The servers were nice and attentive. Food was tasty and came out quick. They have a nice view of Danforth. Inside, it is dark, rustic and typical bar vibe. Even though it's sunny outside, it's still dark inside. Food came out super quick, it really makes you think they just microwave it. Had the taco. The shells had slight burns like it was grilled which always good. The coleslaw tasted really good. So yummy. I had the Creamy Tomato Sauce Rigitoni with Pancetta, a la Vodka, Green Onion and Chilli. I loved it because it wasn't super creamy, but had that texture. It was so yummy that the waitress made fun of me because I had to finish the sauce and lick it clean. It's a great bar/ restaurant atmosphere. We made a reservation for Friday night and it was super busy. The staff is friendly, and although the place was busy, we were never rushed (3 hrs!) They have a great diverse menu, with an Italian focus (pasta and pizzas). Each one was so different, I can't wait to go back and try another (but tempted to have the one I had this time) I've been told they also have a great brunch. I got the Rigatoni a la Vodka (which is what I usually get lol) This hands-down has to be one of my favourite restaurants in the city. I love the atmosphere and the music here, but it also doesn't hurt that the food is always ridiculously delicious and filling every single time. I also really like their vodka-lemonade drink with the strawberries in it- the strawberries that aren't moldy or rotting, as I have gotten from other places. Service has been excellent the 5/6 times I've gone, though the time it wasn't so good I suspect she must have genuinely forgot, which is alright since it was a busy friday night, so I understand. So, I've been to Factory Girl in the past, pre-Covid, and had pretty decent service, food, and drinks, but this time around was totally scammy, so I have to write... I will give them this: the back patio was well upgraded with a roof and some separators between booths for outdoor dining and safe spacing. That's about all that I enjoyed. The hostess seated us and ended up serving us, both with very little sincerity or interest. I ordered a beet and goat cheese salad with steak add-on, and I might as well have just ordered a giant bowl of beets with a couple forkfuls of arugala scantilly lining the bowl. Don't call it a salad and charge $25 for a bowl of beets and some overdone meat, thanks. My friend got a pizza and apparently enjoyed it, but she was shit faced so no accounting for taste, there. Whatever. It was what it was. But when we asked clearly for two separate bills, and the fake-sounding server returned, she was all, "Oh, right, you asked for separate bills! Okay, well, we can just split it..." AND SHE PROCEEDED TO DO SOME REALLY SHITTY MATH IN HER HEAD, seeming to hope the drunk girls wouldn't notice her scam. (So glad I wasn't actually drunk.) She rando tried to charge us a nice round $37 each for a $71.74 bill. She punched $37 into the machine for my friend, and then tried to pull the same shit on me. I was like, "You're not trying to tell me 37 is half of 71, right?" Like, I am NEVER a cheap-ass, and I eat well, and I almost always tip 20%, but when some little c*nt is trying to skim a few extra bucks here and there, that is some shifty-ass behaviour. She started by trying to defend her arithmetic, and then tried to apologize for her shitty calculations, and suddenly was the nicest server ever. *barf* I eventually just subtracted my poor friend's $37f rom the tab, paid the remainder, and still tipped her 15%, both because I'm an idiot and because she was obvs desperate for a few bucks. But I won't be going back there ever. That whole situation could've been avoided by her going back inside to redo the bills properly, as requested, instead of her awkwardly attempting to scam us. Plus, the bowl o' beets? Not worth returning for. Yeah, it was only $71 and barely worth the time it's taken to type this review with my thumbs, but it's the PRINCIPLE of it! I've never had any restaurant try to pull something like that EVER. That was only my second meal out in Toronto since patio reopening - what a let-down. read more

We had the best experience at Factory Girl! We went in on a busy Saturday afternoon and we had the most amazing experience. Kaela was our waitress she went absolutely above and beyond for us. They didn't have any colouring pages for our kids, so Kaela printed off some colouring pages right then and there and then ran across the street to buy crayons for us! Wow!! She made us feel extremely comfortable and certainly well taken care of. The restaurant was very busy, but Kaela was very communicative and kept us in the loop. We never felt like we had been waiting, it was great! The food was fantastic also, Kaela suggested the fish & chips and it was delicious! Crispy, fresh, and came out quickly. The kids ordered the pizza and spaghetti and I was very impressed with how quickly the food came out. The kids were able to eat first, which was so great! Took a patio seat in the back and the staff were friendly. Calamari is one of the best if not THE best I've tried in recent memory (light flaky batter, juicy and tender meat), and the onion rings were superb. The not so good: The Pici Siena which had a great texture to the noodles themselves miss the mark due to saltiness and a void of veg in the fish.. It was just butter, pancetta and parmesan. A nice green like brussel sprouts or even mushrooms would have made the dish better...oh and less salt please! The Luigi was just super disappointing...I dont like to order pizza unless it's from Maker, and I caved because they do wood oven here and highlight their use of San Marzano tomatoes in the menu...however when the pizza arrived, all I could taste was the homemade spicy Italian sausage...which is crumbled (not sliced) in heaping amounts. The sausage taste overpowers everything...I didnt know there was mozzarella or tomato sauce..and later it made my stomach feel it as well.. Beautiful patio, but the items might be hit or miss, so it might just be better to look elsewhere if you're not looking to gamble some money at the end of the week. read more

This is a rock-themed restaurant, nice vibe, but more for drinking with friends than for a meal. Expect lots of noise and yelling, large groups abound - while we were here there was a guy with the most piercing, annoying laugh you've ever heard, going right through your innards. Good thing about this place is that kitchen is open until late (we were there around 11pm). We had the pulled pork poutine as appetizer, which were very good, though the gravy could have been more tangy - it tasted like from a jar. I had their Mac'N'Cheese entree, but it was actually baked Zitti with alfredo/beschamel-like sauce, not your classic M'N'C. Not bad, but not what I expected. My girlfriend had the Chicken Marsala (sp?) which was a chicken breast in mushroom sauce with a side of wild rice - good, but nothing to write home about. Dayum girl! Drop by for a super quick meal before a concert, and definitely happy my friend suggested this location! Since we were on a time crunch before the concert, we ordered appetizers. I got the Mac n Cheese with sausage, and my friend got the Ahi Tuna Tacos. The mac n cheese was phenomenal! Amazing flavor, nice and cheesy, and pulled together wonderfully by the sausage! Highly recommend this one. The tacos were more like a salad in a wrap than tacos though. Good flavor, with amazing cole slaw and tuna, but it was just missing 'something' to tie it all together. Maybe something with a kick to round it out. Service was pretty good, though she seemed quite busy and ran around a bit inside and out on the patio. It was a bit tough to get her attention, but she was still quick when we requested something. I will definitely be back if I'm ever in the area. read more

Is there any place on the Danforth that comes close to this gastropub ? NO. During the lock down due to Covid, I have returned time and time again to Factory Girl. The food, as always is amazing and tonight I was able to order the "Maria" pizza (to die for) but was also able to take home their wonderful olive oil as well. Anything on their take out menu is well worth it, the pasta, burgers and pulled pork are incredible. I can't wait for things to return to normal to enjoy the full menu, the vast tap selection and customer service that is not only first class but attractive as well. If there is one place in Toronto that I will return to it's Factory Girl ! read more

Food and service was good but owner stopped me at the door with my service dog, without identifying himself, stating that dogs were not allowed in. I informed him that she was a service dog but the owner fought me saying that I don't look sick and asked for my personal medical information. I presented paperwork stating the dog is certified and walked in. After our meal I confronted the owner with the AODA to which he told me it did not apply because I did not look disabled. We were touring the neighborhoods of Toronto and decided to pop in and try out the food. There were 4 of us so we ordered 2 different salads and 2 different pizzas. It was obvious that the salads were all from the freshest ingredients. They tasted great. The pizza was the same. Very fresh and tasty. One of our party liked spicier food and found the chili infused oil to be an especially great addition. Normally we skip dessert but were talked into trying the bread pudding. My wife and I do not like bread pudding but agreed to taste it as we were told it was unlike any bread pudding we had ever had. It was unlike any other! And it was fantastic. Nestled into the plethora of competition on Danforth, this small little bistro didn't do much to impress me. First of all this place is for local traffic only as there is no free parking available, like many others on this particular strip. If I'm going to have to pay for parking I'd like to expect a decent experience However this venue seemed to really miss the mark for me. Marketed as a "rock n roll" bistro with the only real reflection of this being the pictures adorning the walls and the obvious name otherwise it was a rather stuffy little Italian bistro in my eyes and I did some researching prior as well. The service is fast and fairly pleasant however there is a real rushed feeling here, maybe it's the limited seating I'm not sure but this isn't really a place id like to sit and enjoy company. I found it cramped, very dark... so dark that reading the menu was an actual issue for many guests in fact a few used their own phones to illuminate the menu. The setup of the seating was even more awkward with the only real highlight seeming to be the small back patio that looked quaint however it is awkwardly tucked in the back of this very small venue. The front patio is literally a sliver, I think it's supposed to be for "people watching" it's just very cramped with these cold metal tables and seating. They have what seems like a wonderful bartender though it's hard to tell who is who as there are so many people behind the bar. They have a selection of kraft cocktails however none are sweet and again can vary in time and taste depending on who makes it. The specials are pushed a fair bit but they are a tad expensive for what they offer, however they do have a fair bit of varying selection on they're menu. They do not do many if any substitutions which i understand is for convenience and prob time however there isn't a lot of personalization here. They offer fresh pepper and Parmesan only for certain dishes and actually suggest against using it in particular ones. I don't think that would have bothered me had I expected it but I didn't know it was such a fussy culinary destination when I chose to visit. Lastly The owner appears to hang out at the location often, sitting at the bar and eating which I've never been a fan of. It's fine when other guests are getting served but when your servers attention is split between guests and the owner, that's just a little odd to me and something I rarely see. I walk home by this place everyday after work and was curious. This use to be the home for years to the Mexican restaurant called Willow which I never actually tried. I initially had thought the place was called Factory Grill until I took a closer look. The name is supposedly taken from a Rolling Stone tune from the Beggars Banquet album. We started off by sitting in some nice chairs/couch lounge area and having drinks and some calamari. We then shifted over to a table for our meal. Their menu has too many great sounding options and it was really hard to pick what to go with. Its largely an Italian based menu but there is some standard pub fare too like chicken wings/nachos. I had a very tasty pasta with sausage and red peppers. I also got to taste a friend's "Maria" pizza. Both were fantastic. The desert menu (2 items) sounded amazing but I was stuffed by this point. Service was excellent. The place has been renovated to the hilt and has great atmosphere. The restaurant/bar has a number of big screen tvs for sports and a huge area in the back. They also will have a patio in the summer which I'm sure will compete with Allens for top patio spot when warmer weather hits. Cost wise it ran me about 50 dollars for Appetizer/3 Pints/Pasta/Tax/Tip so definately reasonably priced for what you get. I would and will definately go back again. read more

I've eaten here a few times now and the food is always excellent. The pasta is fresh every day and all the sauces are homemade. I think my favorite dish is the Agnolotti, although I've not had a single pasta that I didn't like. I also would recommend the nachos with the Cajun chicken added, they were significantly more flavourful than the regular nachos without just being extra spicy. read more
