Fade Street Social is a casual, fine-dining experience with something for everyone--beef, seafood, pork, lamb, and vegan. Ordering can be fun by ordering "Off the Board": Beef is listed on a big blackboard indicating what's available and the price. In my case, chose the Cod, perfectly cooked. Appetizer was uniquely presented: a scallop served in a scallop shell. Tip: Avoid the bench seating by the outer wall. Uncomfortable. Choose the chairs. Tip II: Don't miss some of the veggie sides--all standouts, such as the Blackened Cauliflower, Cabbage with Apple Purée, and Creamy Mashed Potatoes. We even ordered seconds. Amazing! Zero complaints. I recommend sitting in the Gastro Bar, not the fine dining restaurant downstairs. While I enjoyed the fine dining restaurant, the food isn't the same (completely different menu) and the vibe isn't quite as hip as the Gastro Bar. Make sure you have a reservation because the place gets packed and it's hard to just walk in​ and get seated for dinner, grab a drink on the top floor if you do have to wait, then enjoy AMAZING food and conversation at the Gastro Bar. Fair warning, sitting near to where the cooking happens can be really hot! But it's cool to watch the food being prepared. Also, it's in a really fun area to just walk around and enjoy after or before dinner, so build in some time for that too. I need to live in a world where I can be flown to this restaurant on the regular for dinner. My husband and I are not from Ireland, and yet we've been to this restaurant four times in the past four years! We had the scallops, the pork belly and then the smoked trout, oh my God the best smoked trout and best scallops I've ever had in my life, they were breaded and deep-fried with a type of hollandaise sauce on them, OMG! Then for dessert we had the Banoffi in a glass and the warm croissant and butter pudding, and OMG some of the best desserts I've ever had, run don't walk to this restaurant, it's a wonderful Foodie orgasm! The tapas are fancy but the service was pretty lacklustre. Also the seating at the high tables on those saddle-like stools is just plain uncomfortable! We were seated here even though we had a booking and there were plenty of empty tables, when we asked could we move we were given rather hostile treatment by the waiter who said we would have to ask the manager as he couldn't alter seating arrangements. My friend had to ask the host who then moved us. We ordered six tapas between us which was plenty, though some of the servings are very small. The pumpkin pasta dish was doused in fennel which didn't feature in its description on the menu and I found it rather unpleasant as I'm no fan of aniseed. We had the server try to insist that we had ordered a beef dish twice before he accepted that it was for another table. The chicken carpaccio dish was a bit bland. The potatoes with hollandaise and goats cheese bites were the best of the tapas but the goats cheese plate was teeny tiny. The dishes are innovative but some fail to deliver and the pricing is quite high. I would return but not for any of the tapas I sampled on my last visit. A bit of a mixed-bag of an experience is how I would sum up my meal here, but there's enough going on that appeals to the senses to warrant giving Fade Street Social a second go. read more

Fab tapas lunch here last month. Didn't book but managed to get a table really quickly. Staff were so nice. It was really difficult to choose but eventually we chose four to share. Salted popcorn with crispy free-range chicken cooked in tapioca flour, rolled in sumac with truffle butter. Mini lobster hotdog, lobster meat bound in béarnaise and melted hazelnut butter, brioche roll. Pumpkin macaroni with spring onion and parmesan. Fine green beans rolled in cep dressing with mushroom powder, lemon zest and chervil. For dessert chose Praline doughnuts, tonka bean cream, white coffee ice cream. Had two glasses of white wine but no cocktails. If you're looking for somewhere to go for a date (and you don't mind sharing food!) You should definitely put Fade St Social at the top of your list. When you walk in they ask you if you want to be seated in the tapas section, the à la cart menu or the upstairs bar. We opted for the Tapas menu. The service was very fast and efficient. The classic cocktails were 50% off. The restaurant is very clean except the tables are very close together and the restaurant got noisier the more people they seated. The food was delicious. We ordered a pumpkin pasta, a truffle pasta, popcorn chicken, and fries. The portions were extremely small even for a tapas place. My pumpkin pasta had exactly 8 pieces of pasta in it. And my popcorn chicken was more popcorn and very little chicken. Please don't send me a comment, insinuating I do not know what tapas should or should not be. My first trip to Spain was in 1977. Our bill was 40€ and I had to go home and fix dinner. If you like extremely small portions, and a pretentious restaurant this is the place for you. read more

So, they do 'fancy' tapas. It's recommended to order 2 to 3 dishes each, between the two of us we had 5. The food literally came out 2 minutes after we ordered, which makes one wonder how fresh it is. Some of the portions were really teeny weeny tiny. The goats cheese, ham and honey fritters were our favourite, but sadly after 2 bites they were gone. On the other hand the parmesan fries and popcorn chicken (which was like kentucky fried chicken mixed with popcorn..weird!) were good sized, so we did feel full up after our meal. However, if you feel ravenous, I don't think this is the place to go to. We shared a bottle of sparkly rose, and having found a seat on the terrace I really did enjoy the whole experience. 3.5 stars. Several colleagues and I ventured to Fade Street Social Club one weekday evening for dinner. The Yelp description of this place is very accurate - this is a casual, hipster place with a very cool vibe. The server recommended two to three tapas each for dinner. I had the tempura prawns on crusty bread, and truffle pasta. The prawns were sized like American shrimp and were tasty, but I wasn't really impressed with the bread. It was simply too thick, not toasted enough, and hard to separate. The truffle pasta, however, was to die for. The sauce was delicious, and the pasta was served in long, thick ribbons. There was only one piece of asparagus, but I didn't care. My colleagues also tried the mushrooms, crab toasties, green beans, pumpkin pasta, and point end steak. Some were better than the others, like the steak, crab, and mushrooms. On this Tuesday night, they had half price cocktails. I had a very good Tom Collins! Overall, we had a nice meal for a reasonable cost. I'd likely return! read more

Great atmosphere, excellent selection of tapas, and good company make for a great night. Fade Street Social provided the first two, and my friend and I made the trifecta complete. We ate at the gastroBar and sat at the tapas bar in the downstairs restaurant which was a great choice (we were also given the option to sit in the cool bar/lounge upstairs but opted for the tapas magic). Was awesome to see the chefs make their works of art... Which then went straight to our bellies. Everything we tried was delicious. I think we ended up sharing 5 mains & a desert which was the perfect amount. Highly recommend trying the truffled pasta and the Jerusalem artichokes w/mushrooms. The sirloin was also tasty. I have mixed feelings about this place. Fade St Social serves Irish tapas - yes, it sounds weird, but it's actually a nice combo! Let's be honest: the menu looks very appealing, and the food is pretty good. I would highly recommend the truffle pasta, creamy and tasty. It lost a star because, mamma mia, my wallet hurts! Tapas can go up to 10€, and you would need approx. 3 to feel fed. The service was okay, but not outstanding. Booze is pretty expensive too. As a consequence, even though I liked the place and the food, there are a lot of restaurant in that price range that give me more gustatory pleasure than this one. They have a great rooftop upstairs if you want to chill, it's a great place. They also have decent cocktails, but nothing exceptional. Had my third visit to Fade St Social today & it's only on the back of my previous visits where service has been great; that I've kept the rating at 3 and not 2! I'd had one of the wines on the menu on a previous occassion & liked it so suited me just fine to go with it again. It seems this was not to the liking of our waiter who seemed determined to get us to upgrade, so much so that he brought over a taste of the dearer one (I almost thought wow this is great service) but he seemed highly unimpressed when we genuinely preferred to stick with our original choice! Our food was also a bit hit or miss. Goats cheese logs were lovely (but small) and the sole dish with lentils was delicious - we wished we ordered 2 of these instead of the pork as 2 of the 6 pork slices were extremely unappetisingly fatty. The truffle pasta with asparagus was a little bland but okay and the bread was tasty but we needed to ask for balsamic. Do people ever want to butter foccaccia? I thought it a litte odd to just give butter with the breads without olive oil or balsamic. Once we'd finished all of the above, our skinny fries with cheese & parma ham arrived so I guess they were our dessert! I went there for a second time yesterday and I didn't find it much more exciting than the previous time I was there. I had the flatbread which is quite tasty but although it looks quite big it didn't fill me up. I had a side of colcannon which came in a little brass pot and was nice. It had a green foam topping, I think was pea. My friend had a salad, , she always has a salad. Bit boring I think with all the flavours available and for the price of €15 you can get some extra fancy leaves with grated carrots. Me, I leave that stuff to the rabbits. The cocktails were adequate with the long island icwd tea a bit meh but the goosegog was tasty. But the irritating part of the meal was when the manager who was pandering to the people at the next table stood between the tables invading my personal space. He was sp close if I'd turned my head lord knows what would have happened. He knew I wasn't happy but just stood and stood. A bit rude in my opinion. read more

The staff were very friendly and the service was great, but the food was very overpriced for what it was and I left still feeling hungry. We ordered three dishes each and shared everything, (for 2 people) with water and half bottle of wine the bill came to a whopping €70 for tapas!l We were sitting in the middle bench, which was very cramped. My back was to the kitchen/bar area where there was more seats. This was a very tight area and anytime someone passed me I'd get knocked on the back, very annoying! Sitting in the middle area, there is this kinda bench idea going on however as my friend pointed out, it was a little cramped and particularly on her side, she was constantly being hit off people (and staff) as they walked behind cause there really is not enough room for seating between he kitchen and the middle isle. The size of the tables don't actually lean towards being tapas, too small so as your dishes start running outta the kitchen, at one point we had dishes half on/half off the table - accident waiting to happen! Waiter was friendly and initially attentive but as it got busier, topping up my wine was less priority or clearing empty dishes to allow the ones nearly falling off the table to fit in better. I had been looking forward to this one - Fade St. Has been open for a while and the reports back have been good - words like Pork Belly being repeated enough times to make me expect the culinary equivalent of the second coming... yes, I was excited. Things got off to a rocky start when our reservation wasn't on the system - the front of house guy explaining that the computer had been doing some strange things like reassigning tables and double booking people etc..., however, we were not left waiting long and were duly shown to our seats... er.. benches.. well, more like vaulting horses to be honest. The menu, when it arrived, was simple but packed with appealing sounding things like Lobster Hot-dog and (Hurrah!!!) Chinese style pork belly, I could feel my trousers steeling themselves for the extra strain that top button would soon be under. Our waitress, ooooh dear.... pretty much ruined the eve, no small achievement given that we were 4 people in a good mood and ready to forgive any slip-ups on the strength that we don't get out that often, had no children with us and it was my birthday! The food: we ordered lots for the first round - deep fried squid (OK, but not blinding), cabbage and rib burgers (very good), fries with bacon and Parmesan (OK... was expecting better), goat cheese rolls (very good), the pea special (very very good) and Lobster Hot-dog (terrible - balance between bread and filling was way off). The wine was a 19 Euro bottle of Ausie Shiraz and was exceptional for the price. ...then we ordered more food . More fries - EXCEPTIONAL (really, fantastic!) - it showed the 1st batch must have been sitting around for about 10 mins before we got them, ditto with the Chinese pork ribs (I could see why others had raved about them) and a pasta and white asparagus dish (very nice) - there's a lesson in there somewhere but I don't think it is "Ask the waitress to make sure the food is hot and fresh"... shouldn't that be a given!? For 4 of us, 4 beers, 1 bottle of wine and enough food to fill us it cost 185 Euro, in retrospect it seems like reasonable value but the discrepancy between food quality, losing our reservation and unaccountably rude table service means this is a first and last visit. read more

Love this place :D Reviewing the Gastrobar - have not tried the restaurant I've gone about 4 times to this food haven, sometimes with, sometimes without a reservation but the hostess always looks after us and makes you feel immediately welcome. The last time I went for food here we were at a table tucked in the corner... this made me a little wary as it's easy to be forgotten in the corner. I needn't have worried though the service, as usual, was excellent. In terms of the food, well it is absolutely outstanding.... honestly my mouth is salivating just thinking about it :) Id list what we had but pretty sure that would be the whole menu! However to be nice I'll recommend the iberico pork , the point end steak and mini goats logs... mmmm yummy! In terms of alcohol they have a large selection of wines, beers and cocktails. Cocktails mid week are 2 for €10 as far as I can remember. Very embarrassingly though, the last time I came for a few drinks with a friend we shared a bottle of wine on their roof top terrace (which is awesome and has a giant baby!) Feeling very merry we made our way downstairs, bid adieu to the staff and sauntered down the road, only to realise we had not paid and had to make our way back red faced and apologise. After our initial not altogether positive experience of Fade Street Social, my family had written it off. Over Christmas, a number of relatives raved about it, and we decided to give it another shot. Will not be making that mistake again. When we booked, we specifically asked to be seated downstairs. We were told this was fine, and when our booking was confirmed on the day, we were again told we would be downstairs. This space is much nicer, you can watch the kitchen in action and there is a good buzz. When my parents arrived, they were quickly told they would be seated upstairs. A quick look around showed everyone in the downstairs area was of the 20-30 age group, while everyone upstairs was 50+.... Eventually, we managed to persuade them to give us our original table downstairs. The food was excellent as always, but the service pretty much ruined the experience. There were a number of errors with our orders (bringing red wine instead of white etc), all of which were met with eye-rolling when we asked them to be fixed. The worst came when correcting an order, the manageress (I assume) came over to see what the issue was. Having explained that what had been given to us was not what we had ordered, and explaining politely what we had in fact ordered, we were told 'to be more careful in future, since they would have to throw the food out now". In general, we were made to feel very unwelcome. We had wanted to have a drink in the bar afterwards, but decided to head over to Fallon and Byrne instead, where the friendly staff were like a breath of fresh air. read more

I usually hate when people bring up the Celtic Tiger mentality in regard to restaurants but I was blown away by how the people who frequent this place are willing to pay so much for so little. We ordered 3 tapas dishes each followed by dessert and I came away still hungry. I ordered the truffle pasta which was one of the most expensive dishes at 9 euro and it was the best thing I ate all night, everything else was downhill. I also ordered the chickpea chips, 5 of them arrived on a little plate, I also ordered the popcorn chicken, it was stale and the chicken was barely there and extremely chewy. I also tried the pumpkin macaroni which was fine and the artichoke dish which was mostly mushrooms. None of the dishes seem to gel well together so I ended up eating mostly stodgy food. Some of the dishes are too hard to share such as the lobster mini roll, even though I don't eat seafood it would have been awkward to cut such a tiny roll into several pieces. All in all the food was below par, way too expensive, there were parmesan shavings on pretty much everything (why?) so be aware if you don't like it and the service was patchy. Before even traveling to Dublin, I knew I wanted to go to this place. I read about it in my Lonely Planet guide, as a recommended dinner joint. Ideally I would have gone with more people because it's a tapas/shared plates restaurant, but I was traveling in the city by myself. I tried several different dishes and mostly enjoyed them. The popcorn with chicken was tasty but had very few pieces of chicken in it. The skinny fries were disappointing, with hardly any of the other ingredients mixed in. The truffle pasta was tasty, but nothing special. Everything was good for the most part, but I was just disappointed overall because I had such high expectations. I rarely saw my waitress, and I ultimately had to find someone new to close out my tab because my waitress had left for the night. Additionally, it's all just overpriced. I had a really lovely time here. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is just generally a very nice bar and restaurant set up. We started with a nice cocktail up in the roof garden, which was very pleasant despite the cold weather on the street below. Cocktails were half price on Tuesday which is always great. We had with some guidance from our very nice waiter 6 really delicious tapas. I cannot recommend the bacon and cabbage burger enough but everything was so tasty, with a real depth of flavour that is hard to come by. I will definitely be back soon. read more

The good, the bad, and the ugly! I had a mixed experience at the Fade st social, but overall really enjoyed my evening. I was really looking forward to trying this place out as I'd heard the menu featured some unusual, refreshing ingredients. The good: the magret (duck) was delightful, although it wasn't magret as it was on the bone and had the texture and the aspect of a confit. The truffle pasta was so scrumptious I had to ask for bread to finish the sauce. The jerusalem artichokes (if you like that sort of taste) were very strongly flavored and came with a side of mushroom mousse on a bed of jellied leek. I did not think those two dishes married well but individually they were quite good. Unfortunately, the leek jello was completely over salted. The bad: the soft shell crab! The batter was plain horrible. Really thick, chewy and the crab inside was destroyed. The dip was nice and I ended up eating the crab just to justify eating the sauce. The noise level was ear-shattering and pushed us to leave without dessert as we couldn't take much more. The ugly: the service was abrupt and confusing. The waitress always seemed on the verge of wanting to kick us out one minute and very pleasant the next. We were greeted at the door by an exceedingly enthusiastic host (yay!) but on our way out, the same host appeared to have developed a case of sudden blindness and we left without anyone wishing upon us the best or even a good bye. read more

It was St Patties day in Dublin, and the gang and I were craving some munchies, so we stumbled (Literally stumbling from the Guinness) into Fade Street Social for a bite to eat. One of the friends with me had been there before, so I trusted his judgment and prepared myself for what came to be one hell of an awesome meal. Being that it is tapas we each ordered a few plates of food then shared as the fired them from the kitchen. It will be easier just to list out the different dishes with a small review next to each one. Note: all these dishes are made right in front of you or within a few steps of your senses. The choreography of the kitchen was amazing, fun and an over the top bonus to the quality of the food. Mini lobster hotdog, lobster meat bound in béarnaise and melted hazelnut butter, brioche roll - The Lobster was fresh, sweet, and crisp. The roll was hot, soft and held the lobster filling without falling apart from the sauce. (MUST ORDER) Chinese pork belly, slow cooked with Asian spices and crispy peanut brittle - The pork belly was perfectly cooked with just a hint of bark, juicy meat, and a beautiful presentation. I am not even sure what the peanut brittle tasted like, as I consumed the pork belly like it was going out of style. Octopus rolled in herbs served with thin slice of Spanish ham brushed in pork fat scented with rosemary - This dish was insane! Not even sure how to explain the richness of the flavors, the presentation and overall beauty of the dish. (One of the best things I have had in a very long time) Truffle pasta with artichoke and parmesan - I dare you to find a better pasta dish. Anywhere. The hand made (right in front of you) pasta was thick, perfectly cooked as to not be mushy but still allowing for the light sauce to permeate. Skinny fries with grated Parmesan, smoked bacon and brown onion puree - The bacon was fantastic, the fries were fries, and the Parmesan was local & fresh. Prawn tempura on charred crusty bread with pesto, tomato, herbs, lemon puree and good olives - Another amazing dish! I am uncertain as to why (perhaps the ocean surrounding Ireland) but all of the seafood dishes were of extremely high quality, and the olives were a perfect compliment. There were other dishes ordered, but I did not try them all. However, everyone aid they enjoyed all of the plates they had, so I am guessing the quality I experienced was not lost on the dishes I missed. The only disappointment: Chocolate and rose yoghurt ice cream in a waffle cone - Something was off here, but We could not put a finger on it at the time. Looking back, it may have been the rose yogurt that threw the taste off, but this dish was a complete miss. The review would have been 5 star if this had not been so off. Conclusion: If you are in Ireland you must try Fade Social. We are certainly giving it another run when we visit Ireland again. read more

I have been to fade street social many times . Every time it impresses me more. The roof top bar with delicious finger food and restaurant with unique but tasty food is definitely among the best in Dublin . Gastro pub is simply the most amazing area, particularly if one gets a place on the counter where one can see food being prepared and served . Lovely lively atmosphere . In Dublin for a few days and this place kept getting kicked onto our radar. After a bit of research and some local feedback, we grabbed a table at Fade Street early in the week. This would be a great choice for dinner, cocktail or pint with a few good friends. Our service was exceptional albeit we were hosted by the GM who was extremely versed in the menu. We left it up to him. Great choice. Recommendation: - start with a small flat bread | veal and truffle - pork belly - braised rabbit / Heavy cream sauce BUT ridiculously good - medium rare lamb - medium rare beef / smokey and a ton of wood flavor - mixed vegetables / peas, radishes, carrots and greens (delicious) This was one of my favorite meals in a long time. I have been to the Gastrobar twice now! It's loud, it's cool, it's hip and it's supposed to be one if the top places in Dublin! Well, I agree - they have great cocktails, amazing food and a very specific atmosphere! It doesn't feel like a restaurant - more like a place where you have drinks and it happens that you can eat there too! The only difference is that you have amazing choices if food! I never tasted anything I didn't like here - you taste buttons are certainly entertained :) Only downside for me is that they usually have a bit if difficulty of getting the appropriate standard of customer service, they wallah could improve in regards of speed, smiles and accuracy! read more
