Once she became responsive, I was talking to her to assess her condition with basic questions. Don P asked if he should start cutting my son's hair and I asked if its okay if we could wait a few minutes until ems arrived. Once ems arrived and stabilized the situation, I was ready to talk with Don P about my sons haircut to which he says "its too late for a haircut because I have other appointments waiting". I looked at my watch which showed 1:34 pm and said "I've been here since 1pm and this lady had a medical emergency" to which he replied that he was taking lunch at 1pm and that she was stable when he asked if I was ready for the haircut. Talk about being callous and completely unaware of the situation (not like he did anything to help except sit in his chair). I get it, hes a barber and not a emt/medical expert but the fact that I stepped up and made sure the elderly lady was conscious and alert for ems should have cut me a slight break. Unfortunately Don P did not see it that way because he had other customers waiting. But everything happens for a reason because we went to Magic Clippers and my son received an amazing haircut which he loved. Now, Magic Clippers has a life long customer whereas Wise Guys lost my business and along with my respect. I would have loved to leave this review on Booksy (since I booked through the app) but because Don P cancelled the appointment, I was no longer able to leave a review for others to see. But shame on Don P and shame on Wise Guys Barber. Shout out to Yorktown PD and EMT for their response and help!.

It didn't just look good, I could literally see him taking the time to understand the natural grain of my hair- and it turns out I've been parting it to the wrong side my entire life. For 3 decades, no barber had ever taken the time to do that. Not to mention, he's an all round great guy and a joy to be around. He's working stiff like me; just trying to get his own new enterprise off the ground, and support his family by depending on quality service and the exceptional application of his trade (something he has talked to me at length about caring a great deal about- has tremendous pride in his craft and is always striving to grow). I think it's reasonable for there to be a place for the best product or service in any market- and as far as I can tell, Viy gives the best haircut cuts around. People are who have gone their whole lives spending $10-15 for a cut may not "get it." Thats fine, there will always be a super cutz for you out there. But at vVs you get what you pay for and then some- I only make it in about quarterly because the cuts look good for so long!

That was what I first said to V as well, but unlike previous barbers, he didn't just shrug and do a minor trim. The owner, Tony, is very friendly and has recently celebrated 50 years in business. A year or two ago rates were dropped (!) to $20 for a basic cut. My two boys get their's cut for $16/each. I rely upon Gus but the other barbers are all excellent. My kids often insist on waiting for Gus but are occasionally drawn into the kids chair (and TV) that Tony set up. Great place.

I was under the impression the appointment was with Alex, the owner, but after he sat me down in his chair and we spent a few minutes discussing my haircut and reviewing pictures of how I style my hair (which I told him I am very particular about) he told me that my appointment was actually with someone else, Herman. I was surprised by this and expressed concern as to whether Herman could give me the cut we spent several minutes discussing. I was assured that "we're all barbers". That should have been the first red flag. Herman and I were not able to communicate so Alex briefly told him some of what we discussed. I also showed Herman the picture. The haircut I received looked nothing like the picture, is uneven, faded poorly, is so short and choppy I can't style as in the picture I showed, and it needs to be fixed. The quality of service at this show is so poor I could feel how dull the scissors were during the cut. The scissors were consistently pulling my hair, rather than cutting. I did not receive the skin fade I asked for even after i was double checked that he knew I wanted a skin fade (he initially only gave me a taper). I was visibly upset with the process but decided not to make a scene in the shop and to wait until I got home to call and speak with Alex. When I called right after getting home and seeing how bad the cut was, he blew off my concerns, said he thought it was a "great cut" and then told me I could make another $45 haircut appointment to have it fixed - but I would have to wait until Tuesday, at the earliest. I was expecting him to tell me to come in after his last cut of the day, but I guess Alex has better things to do than make things right with his (former) customers. He did tell me to wait by the phone incase someone cancels - great customer service! I'll be getting this terrible haircut fixed elsewhere. Save your $45 dollars - a lawnmower can do better.

Alex gave me one of the worst haircuts I have ever had. If you have long hair, Alex can't cut it. Alex made no attempt to 'wash' the gel/ hairspray out of my hair. How are you supposed to cut hair that is 'gelled up? That should have been my first clue that this was going to be bad. Both my sides are completely different. One ear actually has a sort of crappy blend. On the other side, my ear is carved out like a shelf and half-hidden still. And the back is uneven, uneven isn't even the way to describe it; it is horrible. Seriously, how is this guy in business? It is embarrassing how bad of a haircut I received. And don't waste your time making an appointment you will still wait :30 minutes.
