Something started rattling and "flapping" underneath my car. I went to Fair Auto Repair and Tire and they found that the people that did my last oil change didn't secure the under guard near where the oil is drained, so it eventually became damaged and was just hanging on, which caused the sound. Fair Auto just cut off the dangling part and reported that this would not effect my car at all. They didn't even want to charge me, but I gave the owner's son $10 that I had in my wallet. Had a strange noise coming from under the hood. Regular customer, asked if he could listen to it real quick. He discuss me to his son who wants my info and keys to look at it. Lot more than I asked for, but I wanted to know what it was, in case it was something I could do myself. No charges were discussed or anything at this point. Now this was late in the day, and I didn't expect enjoying to happen before they closed so I went home and waited for a call with a diagnosis and pricing. Got the call, they said, it's done, come get it. ?? I get there they said a part had needed replacement. ( One that was supposedly replaced when they worked on it a year prior. I provided OEM parts for the repair and never got any back do I figured they used them all. This particular part does not go bad on a year. They last a very long time) I mentioned ask this to owner he said it wasn't a party replaced as part of service. Even though it was part of a service kit that I brought to him. So I should've got it back if he didn't use it. Oh and that will be$200 . I never agreed to any service or pricing so I wasnt real happy at that point. I'd been a long time customer, but always got full price repairs done. And noe $200 for something I never agreed to? I honestly don't think they did anything and I know the new OEM part I provided wouldn't have failed so soon. Not to mention my defroster hasn't worked and it started sucking down coolant which was not a problem before the service they did on it. Anyway, that's my experience. read more

On Friday, my car was making an unfamiliar noise. I was worried it was about to break down. I was worried it was going to be expensive. You can believe them. I made an appointment for Monday morning. They looked at it right away, took it for a drive, then had me go with them to confirm we were hearing the same thing. Then they fixed it. It was a relief to get a straightforward prognosis, a reasonable estimate(!), and a full explanation of what was wrong. My car was ready when they said it would be. I highly recommend them and couldn't be more pleased to have a mechanic I can trust I wrote this several years ago and here I am with a different car that I had to bring in because something that wasn't my air conditioner was leaving a greasy puddle. I don't know about this place anymore. I might wana take my review back. It hasn't even been a month since I got an oil change and I have to add more oil to my engine: I also got 2 tires replaced from them 1 in the back and 1 in the front and now my suspension and alignment is messed up on my car. Also my coolant light came on after getting services by then and that light has never came on either. When I went to get a on all these new findings the owner kinda brushed me off. But we'll see.
