A special thank-you goes to Gary, the Manager and Service Advisor, who went above and beyond throughout what became an extremely complicated insurance claim. Gary was not only knowledgeable and professional--he was patient, compassionate, and truly became an advocate for me throughout the entire process. A little background on my situation: I was driving on the freeway when a diesel trailer hitch came off a big rig directly in front of me. I had no way to avoid it and unfortunately ran over it, causing extensive damage underneath my Infiniti Q50. Almost everything underneath the vehicle was affected. The accident was just that--an accident. What followed, however, became a five-month battle with my insurance company. I have been a State Farm customer for more than 44 years, since I was 16 years old, so I was extremely disappointed with the way my claim was initially handled. The claims representative challenged virtually every estimate and attempted to reduce the amount being paid for the repairs. There were also disagreements over the quality of parts being authorized and additional damage that was discovered during the repair process. This is where Gary and the TOS Auto team made all the difference. Gary worked directly with State Farm, continually providing documentation, estimates, supplemental information, and the evidence necessary to support the repairs my vehicle actually needed. When additional problems were discovered during the repair, he continued advocating for the proper repairs and worked through the supplemental process. Most importantly, Gary kept me informed every step of the way. His communication was exceptional. He gave me the information and documentation I needed so that I could better understand and articulate my position with the insurance company. After more than five months, the claim was finally resolved, with State Farm ultimately approving the necessary supplemental repairs, minus my deductible. I cannot say enough about the professionalism, workmanship, patience, and dedication demonstrated by Gary and the entire TOS Auto team. Gary treated my situation with empathy and genuinely cared about getting my vehicle repaired properly--not simply getting it out the door. I highly recommend TOS! Rick was knowledgeable and honest. I had TOS do a brake inspection on my 90k mile Highlander because it was pulsating when braking. The brake pads were in good shape, but the front rotors needed to be resurfaced. They also inspected the fluids. The oil and transmission fluid were good, but the brake fluid failed the copper corrosion test. The Toyota dealership tried to have me replace the pads, rotors, and all the fluids. TOS was honest and advised me to only do the services that were needed. They saved me hundreds of dollars from what the dealer wanted. I will definitely go back! read more

They only agreed to work on a solution to what turned out to be a $9000 repair AFTER I had to promise to change my review to a 5*. I can't do that, based on my experience with the shop, especially Mike, the person in charge. He had such a bad attitude and arrogance about him, that even after he dropped the price (he made SURE I knew what he was "giving me" in great detail), I was not 100% comfortable with staying there. I had my car towed to the closest Nissan shop, that not only beat the price by almost $2k, but also worked with me on financing. They did all that without threatening attitude, bad customer service or arrogance. read more

Extremely nice and polite customer service. I asked and they showed me what the problems were and why it was not passing smog. I personally was able to see the problem and understand it right away (also would've known if that was part was part of the smog system). They also explained why there was two error codes coming up. One being, the part they had to be replaced. The other was for the factor of the codes being reset recently and not enough mileage on the car (the reason for the mileage is in regards the computer system on today's cars). They were able to finish my smog repairs before estimated date (done same day in late afternoon). Average rates for an automotive shop this big with multiple licensed and educated mechanics. Nice waiting room, better than automotive repair shops at dealers. The supply company used by TOS Auto Repair is well-known, and has been in business for decades. The same supply company that is used by any business that does automotive repairs or tractor repairs. Very impressed by the courteousness of the people in the office as well as the mechanics. They also supplied a ride home through Uber. I recommend TOS Auto Repair over dealers (when your car is no longer under warranty). read more

We used TOS Auto Repair years ago when it was at its other location. Now, since we have a 2016 Toyota Prius and live right down the street, we thought we'd try them again. We walked in and were immediately impressed with the staff's friendliness and the amenities available while we waited. Our service writer walked through what we needed and what we expected from TOS and gave us an estimate for the repairs and a completion time. They came through with flying colors. The final repair total was $100 less than they had estimated, and they finished an hour earlier! The repair work was explained in detail, with pictures showing what was done and why they did it. We were impressed with the attention to detail and look forward to our next visit. read more

Dishonest Pricing and Poor Customer Service I had a terrible experience with this shop. If you're not knowledgeable about cars, beware--they will take advantage of you. I initially spoke to Gary over the phone, who quoted me $220 for a diagnostic. Then the estimate suddenly increased to $430. Gary also added $190 for a valve gasket replacement, which was unnecessary as the gaskets were just replaced a few days prior. Despite explaining this, he back pedaled, refused to reduce the price and instead altered the description of the diagnostic. Since my mom's car wouldn't start, I was stuck. Towing it elsewhere would cost just as much, so I reluctantly agreed to the diagnostic at double the originally quoted price. When the diagnostic was done, the estimated cost of repairs was as much as the car's value so I decided to tow the car home. When I called to settle the bill, the diagnostic price increased again. This time, Rick quoted $479 for a valve gasket. I had to remind him that the gasket didn't need replacing. He eventually reduced the cost to $430, but then told me the gasket was thrown away by their technician and I need to wait to get the car. This entire experience was a a bummer --dishonest pricing, poor communication, and complete disregard for the customer. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Toyota Avalon circa 2005 repair estimate for $110.00 with description and photos of needed repairs totaled $9,800.00. I submitted that report to two mechanics. Each questioned several items on the report. A licensed mechanic repaired my car, using the report and photos. In so doing, found several "needed" repairs that were NOT photos of my vehicle and did not need repair/replace. (details available if you want them). Total needed repairs came to less than $500.00 AAA would not tow the vehicle .4 mile from TOS to my home (been a member since 2006). "only tow from repair shop to repair shop". Rick and TOS stepped up to the plate and offered a rental car for the weekend (which I gladly accepted) until my vehicle is ready on Monday. I will update this review again after all service on my vehicle is completed. ZERO STARS...Let's see where should start ?? How about it's after 5:30p on a Friday, you didn't bother to call me back and say oh by the way your car is /is not ready and we close at 5:30pm and on weekends so I'm left CARLESS without one drop of a call. We spoke this morning and the job was to place a radiator cap, top off the anti-freeze, do a clean/dye test. I'm left stranded without a vehicle !! Who is the afterhours manager on duty ?? ZERO customer service satisfaction. And to think I'm giving you the business because AAA said " your local, 10% discount, 100% satisfaction guaranteed..." Woefully late in posting this...I had a ton of work done on my 2002 Taco back in December. Extremely pleased at the time. A few weeks ago, my power steering started to make a weird noise. Turns out the fluid was low...even though it had been flushed and refilled in the original service....but I never saw any fluid on the garage floor I took the truck back in and explained the issue to Mitch. He fully explained what the possible scenarios were and topped off my fluid and scheduled me to bring the beast back in the next day. Turns out the new rack and pinion assembly had failed and the fluid was leaking into the boot. They replaced the defective part under warranty...no questions asked and I had my truck back that same afternoon. These guys rock ! DON'T FALL FOR THE REVIEWS!!! I took my vehicle in with Codes P2440 and P 2445. They called and said it needed a new secondary air injection pump and that it would be $2300.00. The next day and $2300.00 later Code 2441 appeared with the Check Engine Light and the vehicle was in limp mode. I called and their response was that this was unrelated to the repair as it was related to the EVAP system (which it is not) and that they would do a "free diagnosis" but I would incur additional hourly costs beyond that. I called multiple mechanic shops, and they informed me that likely it was just the solenoids that needed replacement ($200.00) and not the pump. I specifically asked them to keep the old parts and they did not. This is precisely how these scams begin: half baked repairs that never get completed and before you know it, you are back in every week and out thousands and thousands. On Saturday I sent a request for a 7:30 am Monday appointment for a smog check. I figured I would get it done before work. No confirmation was received all day, so I called them at 5:15 on my way home. I was informed they are not Star Certified. I said I was on my way home, and would call back in 10 minutes. He said he would be gone by then. I guess they aren't really open until 5:30. I discovered I didn't need star certification, so decided to arrive at 7:30 the next day. The guy asked if I had an appointment, and I reminded him we had spoken last evening. He said I could leave the car. I told him I would wait. He said they might be able to get to it by 10:00. I said I was there at 7:30 because I was getting it done before work. He told me his mechanics don't even get there until 8:00. I decided to go elsewhere, and drove to Fair Oaks, where I was in and out in 15 minutes. TOS is definitely not the place to go for a smog check. Update: I find it interesting that they chose call me within 20 minutes of posting a negative review, yet they didn't have time to call me at all in 9 hours 45 minutes yesterday to confirm or discuss my proposed appointment. read more

It turns out that charges for a door lock actuator on 2007 Honda CR-V were double what was suggested for this area ie almost $700 as opposed to $350. They charged additional $150 to drill out 3 screws for 1/2 hour. I know the time because that is the extra time from original promised time. Door was fixed but they gave poor advice when son called later. read more

Have been going there for several years. We've never had an issue with the quality of auto service. That's always been great. However, when we dropped off our vehicle this morning only one of the gentleman at the counter was wearing a mask... When we came in to pick up our vehicle in the afternoon no one in the office was wearing a mask and neither was the customer in front of us. They have a very small lobby/counter area. If TOS is not going to adhere to state health and safety guidelines... They will no longer be getting our business. read more

I scheduled an appointment over the phone a week in advance to leave my car there all day. We showed up at our appointment time and the man at the front desk informed us they had cancelled all scheduled appointments for the day. We received no communication or warning beforehand to let us know that they would be canceling appointments. The man was rude and unapologetic. We asked why the appointments were cancelled and he bluntly stated look how many cars are in the garage. He did not offer to schedule another appointment or any other solutions. Was fully prepared to spend a mint and I came in with a very befuddling set of issues but made it out relatively unscathed. Super professional, friendly service, and nicely stocked snack bar and a very robust massage chair in the waiting area. While I was there I overheard Gary fielding a phone call from a disgruntled customer that, for some reason, was not pleased that he was being told his problem could be remedied, potentially for a whole lot less money, by the dealer. Gary never lost his cool and tried to explain numerous times that the dealer may be able to handle the vehicles problem without cost. And after he hung up the phone he did not shit talk which showed a great professional attitude. I'm not saying car repair is ever cheap because it isn't. I am saying that you will get great service, fair treatment and thorough explanation. Another bonus is that when they do a repair they offer you one year of roadside assistance free of charge. A win-win for everyone. You can get your car towed in if it breaks down and that's smart business because you're getting it towed into their facility, you don't have to pay for towing and you will be having your car looked at/repaired by a very professional business. read more

I have a 2001 4 Runner and needed the valve cover gaskets replaced. It had a bad leak where oil was getting on the engine block and causing it to smoke. So I brought it to TOS and I was super impressed with the detailed and thorough diagnostic printout they had texted me. It showed all the things that passed and needed to take care of. Two major things popped up my gaskets and my rear axle seals plus my driver side rear brake drum was pretty bad so they replaced that. All said and done it was a little pricey but it needed to be done. It took around three days. Oh and the three year warranty is nice to have just incase something happens. I would definitely recommend this shop to people I know. read more

It went in needing to be towed and still doesn't work although they charged $2000. Actually their fee was over that but I'm not paying anymore than that. They never gave me a written estimate of a repair and what was expected. I think their repair was misdiagnosed to begin with. Do not bring your car to this place! Absolutely amazing customer service!!! The guys setting at the reception are very professional and very knowledgeable. I went in there for just an oil change, but they did a thorough full inspection of my car for free. The guy Gary explained everything to me in detail and really give me an honest opinion. These guys know there stuff very well. Honestly their service is way better than the Lexus dealerships. And way reasonable in price. All in all I was impressed and very satisfied with their work. About six months ago I had a check engine light on, so I came here to get it diagnosed, and they told me it was a broken 02 sensor, and that it would cost $500 to replace&repair the sensor. I had them replace the 02 sensor, and within four days my check engine light came on with the same 02 sensor diagnosis. I told these fucking idiots that they didn't repair my car right, and that the check engine lite came back on for the same diagnosis. But they denied it and said it wasn't their fault. I came close to knocking these idiots out, but I didnt. Don't ever ever ever take your car here, it will end up worse than before!!!!!!! These mechanics are morons!!!!! read more
