Often there's a good breeze. This also eliminates the piss smell. Area around it is pretty good. The Union Market is pretty close by here. It has a location in an improving area. Lots of new businesses are coming. This mostly is pretty safe.

I was not used to DC metro stations being above ground. It was a nice warm day so I didn't mind standing around waiting for the train. I could imagine in the winters this might be more of a hassle for folks. There are several restaurants and stores nearby. It is a mostly residential neighborhood so I felt completely safe here.

I guess the customer who rides metro regular really gets screwed as driving downtown is horrific by itself. The ads all tell us the train is easier with the endless delays, filthy cars and lack of any management in stations. I did pick up an idea if you don't want to pay. I watched this one go by while the dude in the little hut is playing in his phone. A woman has a small child plus a stroller. She sends the kid through the end turnstile which opens when the kid touches the card to the card reader. She walks on through with the stroller and pays nothing (aside from the kid). It's genius. Maybe Elmo is available to be hired.

For the time being this isn't particularly the best Metro station in the city. I swear they have…read morebeen working on this stations for months, if not years at this point. I'm not quite sure what they are doing, I believe they are repairing the stairs, but every time you walk by this it looks like it it closed. With that being said, it is quite the busy station. Especially if you really don't want to get off at one of the other nearby stations and don't mind a bit of a walk. The Red Line services this station so you can bypass either Union Station or Gallery Place and jump off here. The one good thing about this stop is that it'll lead you to another that connects to where you want to go. I needed to get to the Blue Line and this was the lesser evil compared to other nearby stations. It serves it's purpose, and like I said before, isn't too busy of a station because of it only being one line passing through here.

Riding a bus is never joyful, but to have to take the bus for nearly an hour makes it less joyful. The station itself is fine, when you just view it as a station and nothing else. But when you actually use the entirety of the station, i.e., transfer, bus, walk from, there is no way to actually like this station. If you happen to have to transfer here, it's not bad, but if you want to catch one of the many buses here, prepare yourself to battle to get onto the bus. Or, just hope and pray that the bus will show up at a scheduled time. There was one day where I had to wait for over an hour and a half for a bus to come. No reason given, employees working the bus bays didn't care. In fact, one bus going my way was told to switch the line they were running to another one to accommodate backups. Mind you, there was a major backup for the line I needed. Compound that with the fact that when it downpours, only a portion of the bus bays are covered. So when it does rain, there is major overcrowding to keep from getting wet. Or you just suck it up, get drenched, and hope that your bus shows up shortly. Which was me one day. Flying by here on the train or having to stop at the station every so often is fine. But if I never have to actually use this physical station, I am fine by that.

Except for an initial consultation fee, we did not pay anything extra to EE. The company's compensation was taken from bookings. We received regular updates regarding spending. Deirdre and her team seamlessly incorporated into the itinerary our desire to visit four different sets of friends in three countries, including transportation to these cities. Our trip itinerary was presented in a highly organized way in an app that was easy to read on our PCs and mobile phones. The walking tours they arranged--both private and group tours--were superb. Our guides were knowledgeable and lively, with a love of history. We enjoyed nearly all our hotels, which were conveniently situated close to train stations and the historic areas of the cities. Several of the hotels had "old world charm." Breakfasts, which most of the hotels bundled into their lodging services, were delicious. It was evident to us that Deirdre Swinson genuinely enjoys travel and wants for her clients to enjoy their travel. She is the consummate travel professional: highly collaborative and thorough, responsive to our needs and requests, and personable. She and her team actually arranged our trip twice: a 2020 trip which we had to cancel because of the pandemic, and the 2022 trip we just took. We cannot recommend Deirdre and EE more highly.
