They were the opening act on the outdoor stage and it was a nice surprise to happen upon this. There is some outdoor seating available, but most patrons had brought their own camp-style chairs for comfort. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy more pleasant weather following an earlier rainfall. Bar area was open and drinks were available for purchase. Interior spaces are lovely and also feature tables and chairs, as well as many interesting pieces of artwork. It's a challenge to decide where to rest your eyes. Terrific venue with plenty of space to relax or jump around. Large shade trees and strings of oversized Edison bulbs make the space feel magical. Large parking lot next to venue is free, as well as some limited street parking spaces. The venue is extremely accessible for all mobility levels. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to many happy returns here.

The beverage options at the onsite bar are varied and good. The bathrooms are clean and staff have been friendly. The tables, big chunky wood incorporated with colorful resin and things cast inside, are really cool. The low-backed bar height chairs are cool looking but also a little scary to think about sitting in (if you see them, I think you'll know what I mean). Silent discos, dj'ed events, I think some interesting things are happening here and I am interested to see how it goes.

It finally did, so off to Trellis Brewing we went. And what a happy little discovery. The outdoor space is fantastic: family-, kid-, and dog-friendly, surrounded by old buildings that give the whole area a cool, nostalgic, industrial vibe. They've done a really great job with the space. Inside, you'll find a mix of tables and booths, friendly people, and a laid-back atmosphere that feels genuinely welcoming rather than just saying it's welcoming. I also love that Trellis embraces the whole kids + parents + dogs brewery situation. You can't always get a babysitter, and so smart!!. More importantly: the beer is very good, and so is the food. I had the smashburger and fries, my husband had a Banh mi Dog, and we shared the pickled vegetables--which were tangy & delish . Everything was reasonably priced, and the service was bright, friendly, and helpful. It is counter service, but honestly, it fits the casual atmosphere perfectly. Bonus points: dogs are welcome inside, too. They just can't be on the couches, which seems like a perfectly reasonable boundary even though Gypsy may disagree. Gypsy had an excellent evening, made approximately 47 new friends, and thoroughly approved. I could absolutely see us becoming regulars here. Great beer, good food, cool space, dogs welcome. I'm sold.

Are we talking "On Heavens Gate!"…read more Yes, Bob Dylan, that inspirational author, songwriter, wordsmith, and artist has a Bourbon. Now they were looking for where to build his so called place to breathe life into it. That "it," place. It's not in Nashville, it's here in small little Louisville. What better place than an old church? Bourbon and Church! Amen! All are welcome! Now they don't make it here this is where they come to pour it and enjoy the flavors of it. Is life about the ride? How about dinner and some Heavens Bourbon made and inspired by Bob Dylan in a church. It's a must! Now this is a small venue and off the beaten track of life. What drew me? A large image of Bob Dylan on a building, mural style seemed out of place. Come to find out explore more and salut to a better version of heaven in this world of art, music, and words that have never been better than now. This is not just a church but the grounds house an art deco museum to his work. It's true dedication to the man of Bob Dylan. A Tennessee whiskey, distilled in Pleasureville, Ky. This the final stop here at the Last Refuge to celebrate his legacy and better aged bourbon among us.

Turning an old church into a bar/restaurant always makes for a unique environment. I loved walking through the rooms and seeing all the vintage details and stained glass. The Whiskey room has quite the shock factor with floor to ceiling bottles lining the walls. No complaints to be made about the service! It felt quick and smooth! The signature cocktails we ordered were very good (not pictured)! My only disappointment was the limited menu. The menu seemed to be mostly appetizers and pizza with some additional options for entrees. We ordered the Holy Fire Dip for a starter and it was delicious! It was warm and had great flavor. The waitress did need to bring more bread, the dipping options felt sparse. My husband and I split The Burnt Offering Pizza and Sanctuary Sliders, they were both solid. We both favored the pizza but would have liked more variety. I can see why this place comes highly recommended for the experience. I would definitely come back but hope they expand the menu by then!

With the wedding day scheduled for a Saturday, the bridal party and groomsmen were able to leave gowns, beauty products, suits, and overnight bags in our rooms the Friday before upon completing the rehearsal. This allowed for an easy situation to walk in to on the morning of the wedding as we prepared for the ceremony later that afternoon. The house was built in the mid 1800s and has been kept within the family since then. The current owners, Kim and Chaz, take great pride in the house and were extremely accommodating towards our group. They were on hand throughout Saturday to answer any questions. As a history nerd, I loved speaking with them more on the history of the house and the surrounding gardens (that were stunningly beautiful in September) as I snuck a cigarette on the back porch during the reception. When the bride & groom booked the venue, they were also able to secure accommodations for the bridal party. Considering that all five of the bridesmaids live over an hour away, it made for the perfect place to crash post reception. Our two flower girls had a ball exploring the house and spent the night as well with no problem. To top off the magical wedding weekend, Kim and Chaz prepared coffee and breakfast on Sunday morning for the guests that spent the night. I highly recommend considering Midlane Farm as a special events venue. The service we received certainly deserves five stars!
