Second time staying at this hotel and for sure last time. Do not trust this place when they ask for your credit card. I gave them my credit card and they charged me and my company both for the room. Credit card information meant to be on file in case of damage to the room and today I noticed that they have charged my credit card for 281$. This place is not trustworthy and I will follow up on this with our corporate office first thing on Monday. read more

I stayed here for work and had a great experience. The room was clean, fresh, and comfortable. Although I only stayed one night, everything was on point. The room came with a refrigerator and kitchen supplies--which I didn't use this time, but definitely good to know for future stays (and yes, I'll be staying here again!). The location is excellent--right next to a mall with plenty of dining options if you're not planning to use the in-room kitchen. Super convenient. One small note, more of a personal opinion than a complaint: I wish the hotel staff showed a little more care for the local strays. Thankfully, many of the hotel guests do feed them, which I appreciated seeing. Overall, highly recommend this spot for both convenience and comfort. read more

Nothing special about this property other than it's centrally located to shopping and food. The property is under renovation, but I was not told this upon checkin...When I did check in I stated I wanted a room away from the elevator and the agent specifically said "don't worry its halfway down the hallway" NO IT WASN'T it was right across from the elevator AND NEXT TO the stairs. I didn't want to hear a ding from the elevator or the door opening and closing who were using the stairs! When I went back down to the desk, the same agent said 1/2 the rooms were down due to the renovations and I would have to opt for a room on the 3rd floor....(I requested high floor, I don't like hearing people stomp above me)! At breakfast it was interesting to hear the ladies say good morning to all those who spoke Spanish.... I poured milk for ceral at breakfast and noticed it was think and a different color...so I had to ask...FYI the milk at the breakfast isn't labeled "OAT Milk"-they have cartons but word to Management, label your milk, I have allergies to OAT MILK. My room had a light out, and the water in the sink in the bathroom doesn't get cold..only SUPER hot! I let the front desk know about the light and they WANTED TO MOVE MY ROOM!!! I had already unpacked and set up my work station....all b/c of a light..no the manager stated, "we had a long term guest in there and there are things that need to be fixed"..WHY WAS I PUT IN A ROOM THAT NEEDED MAINTENANCE? Again the best part about this property is the location. Didn't give me the Marriott vibe...friendly vibe... Note-upon checking out I noticed a charge for internet...I explained to the same agent who put me in a room next to the stairs and across from the elevator (when I specifically asked to be away from BOTH) it should have been blocked off for maintenance....he told me my "silver status" does not get me free internet...funny thing..I worked for Marriott and I know it does. He got snotty and grabbed a paper that said "enjoy the benefits of MEMBER PLUS"...see attached paper he said he "got from management"...Bonvoy membership GETS YOU FREE INTERNET..my status gets me even more........................I think this guy may need a little more training. Fun fact..before I stayed here, I reached out to an Elite Yelper who reviewed all the surrounding hotels and she said this one was her favorite BUT WATCH OUT FOR THE CHARGES ON YOUR CC....good thing I did! read more

TownePlace Suites: Your Spacious Home Away From Home... with a Side of "Meh" Let me tell you, if space is what you're after, this place has it in spades. TownePlace Suites is like the hotel version of "Oh, I didn't know this closet could be that big!" You could host a yoga retreat in your room and still have space left for a small llama farm. (Not that I recommend trying that.) Now, about the breakfast. It's...fine. Imagine if a cereal box and a waffle maker had a low-key brunch date. No fireworks, but enough to keep you fueled for the day. Definitely don't expect a gourmet spread, but hey, it's breakfast--mission accomplished. As for the staff, they're like the background music in an elevator: you notice them, but not really. They're pleasant enough, but no one's winning any hospitality awards here. Friendly-ish. Polite-ish. There when you need them...ish. All in all, if you're in El Centro and need a comfy, spacious place to rest your weary head, TownePlace Suites has you covered. Just don't expect a breakfast buffet worth writing home about--or staff who'll make you feel like royalty. But for a decent stay? This place is solid! read more

If you are looking for a place to stay near El Centro, this is a good location. It is well-lit on the outside and a short walk to different restaurants, stores, and the Imperial Valley Mall. The hotel itself is not as awesome as some of the other Marriot Locations I have stayed at and we found it overpriced compared to some of the others we have stayed at. The rooms were much smaller too and the breakfast buffet was meh. The room itself is a weird layout and quite uncomfortable if you are travelling with lots of bags because the entryway is very narrow and not alot of closet space. Speaking of the closet, it connects to the bathroom so if you want to play a trick or scare a loved one go in through the closet and you will end up in the bathroom. The closet doesnt lock so if your kid happens to enjoy lockingyou out redt assured you can access the bathroom from the closet (atleast we could in our room). The staff is nice but the wifi was wonky for us. If we had to stay in the area again we would come back, but just wish the room wasnt so cramped the photos on here are deceiving. read more

I stayed here 10/31-11/1 Hotel seemed pretty clean but when we went in to the room, the carpet was torn where it met the tile in the kitchen & my girlfriend stepped on a staple or something sharp and cut her toe. When we were going to shower, the shower/faucet didn't work so we had to call maintenance to come in and fix it. He was very nice and professional & fixed it in about 40 minutes. TV wouldn't work either. We turned it on & nothing would show. Only the backlight in the TV turned on. Overall the room was pretty clean, but for the price I paid, I would expect the utilities to be in working order and the carpet not be torn. read more

In this area of California, I was super surprised to see that they actually have a Marriott down here so it only made sense to book a room here for our friend's wedding. This place isn't that big or fancy probably because not a lot of people come down here for fun. The hotel is usually empty so we can make a little bit of a ruckus. Our room was a little small for a king studio compared to all the other Mariotts but it is cheaper. But when I went to all the other rooms that paid just as much as us, ours is a little smaller. On top of that, our AC was sucking major ass. Sometimes it would blow us cool air and other times they don't. They said that it's because our room was on top of the laundry area so the lint gets stuck. Then why the hell would you put us there? This hotel has plenty of room yet you put us where the AC barely works in a city where it gets 124 degrees?! Screw that! Sucks that we already unloaded all our luggage because I would have demanded to be moved and upgraded. This place also has the worse complimentary breakfast in the Marriott chain. My rented kitchen could have came up with better crap then they would. The only reason why I'm giving them an extra star is because it's clean and comfortable for a decent price. Make sure to check your room though before you get settled in just in case they give you a crap room like us. read more

I stayed here for 3 nights from April 25th through April 28th. When i was looking for a room there wasn't much available in the area at the time so i chose to stay here since this was one of the better locations in the area and it was very close to my place of business. During my 3 night stay the fire alarm went off 4 times. Once fairly early in the evening but the other three times everyone staying there was woken up to flashing lights locked fire doors and alarms sounding loudly. The first few times the people at the front seat blamed one of the guests and said that they were cooking with the door open. I don't know how true that was at 2:30 in the morning. But i took their word for it and looked passed it since they were able to get the alarms turned off fairly quickly. The final time was around 5:30am an this time they could not get the alarm turned off. The employees were running around with no idea what to do for about 20 min. The guest were put out and were waiting outside in the cold for everything to settle down. When people started talking with the guy at the front desk he made it seem like there was something wrong with the alarm system and they were having someone come take a look at it. I'm glad the alarm system works, but i don't want to be part of the testing process. This was extremely inconvenient and the fact there didn't seem to be a more appropriate response to a possible problem was not ok. The place was clean, but i don't know if i would recommend this place to anyone. You never know when the alarms are going to go off and disrupt your stay. read more

What a huge disappointment. This place had bugs, soiled furniture, mold (or something similar) on the ceiling, soiled and fraying carpet, a thermostat that would not go below 79 degrees, unsafe and insecure door that would not automatically lock when door closed, damaged furniture, thin walls to the point we heard the next door guest snoring, and polite yet uncaring employees who had no interest in the complaints. The breakfast area was overcrowded and constantly low on supplies. read more

Hotel is certainly adequate, but as Christine B notes - check your bill. I was quoted (by the hotel) a rate of $119, and billed $134 (plus taxes of course). No one at the front desk could help me - and since I'm traveling on business, I don't have all day to fight over the extra $15/night. What a SCAM! Loved this hotel. I specifically looked for a hotel that had a separate bedroom so it was easier to put my toddler to sleep at night. Stayed in the two room king suite. The staff at the Towne Place Suites El Centro was wonderful, friendly and helpful! When I needed directions or suggestions they were happy to help - and when I discovered that I left something in my room hours after I checked out - I made a quick call to the hotel and the guy at the front desk went up to my room, located my item and held it at the front desk for me (with something else I'd left behind that I hadn't even realized I'd left.) Check-in was quick - and warm chocolate chip cookies at the front desk were a delicious added bonus! My room was nice. The amenities were great and the TV had a larger selection than you see at most hotels. Even though my stay was brief, it was pleasant. If I'm in El Centro again - I will definitely stay at the Towne Place Suites! read more

I'll start by saying that as much as I loved staying here, the one thing that pushed me to write a review is no other than the best front desk attendant I have come across, Lisbeth. She was insanely accommodating, warm, & welcoming. Now the hotel as a whole - hospitality at its best, clean, & comfortable. Each room has a small kitchen which is amazingly practical. We were there for my sister's wedding & everyone of our friends & family had nothing but good to say about this place. It's near any store u might need, near fast food & restaurants, & the mall which includes a movie theater. My sister lives out in the Imperial Valley. Their house has a guest room but it's more likely we'll stay here when visiting. :) read more

Very dissapointing with the place. We drove 4 hours from Los Angeles, to imperial California. For a trip my boyfriend and i had planned he called 3 times before we left on a wednesday and thursday to make sure if it was okay to check in early at 2am that would be on a saturday we would depart from L.A at 10pm on a friday. So we would arrive early on a saturday if that makes sense. Everyone that picked up had said "Yes thats fine" so my boyfriend wanted to make sure again and called and those 3 ppl have said yes. So we drove 4 hours on a friday once we arrived we were tryijng to check in and the lady at the front desk said we coudnt check in until 7am. We told her we have called plenty of times to make sure if it was okay to check in earlier. So this wouldn't happen all her employees have said yes. Again we are tired and just want to sleep. But she kept saying she coudnt check us in and whoever picked up shoudnt have said that. My boyfriend and i were so upset and tired. I didnt know what else to do. We didnt want to pay anither bill! Just to check in earlier tho it wasnt 7am yet! So we did and we cohdnt get a refund which is understanding since we did pay online. But again we eneded up paying another bill just to check in earlier. So we spend like 300 in total. They should get thier staff together and make rules so everyone could stay in the same page so unorganized. read more

Great hotel. The rooms are nice for when you are on business because they have a full kitchen. The staff greets you with a smile! The bathroom was awesome, great water pressure. BUT NO MINI CONDITIONER (just fyi ladies). Each room ( I was in a two-room suite with my father and business partner) has a tv and the walls are pretty thick because I could not hear the tv in his room (which is surprising because he is half deaf!). Breakfast is nothing spectacular but nothing to complain about. Was not able to use the work out facilities when I was there so I cannot write about that. Nor was I able to take time to use the pool. It is located close to the highway for quick transport to and from the surrounding areas. Although close to the highway, there is very little noise. The shopping center near it has an Outback, Starbucks and other shopping within walking distance. ALL IN ALL A GREAT MARRIOTT PROPERTY and will stay here every time I travel to El Centro! read more

Customer service here is mixed. There are some staff that go out of their way to make your stay pleasant and there are others who only care about a paycheck. Being a small hotel, I would expect standards would be more uniform. I have been here on extended stay for over 4 months and have had mostly negative experiences with cleaning staff, except for the first person who did my room (Christina). Don't expect for your floors to be swept or your mirrors to be wiped. Or your carpet vacuumed. Or your linens actually ever changed. They are satisfied just making the bed. I literally took the sheets off and bundled them up on the floor to show I wanted new sheets, but they reused my same makeup stained ones. Also Don't drop off mail in the front desk, they took 2 weeks to mail my important letter. Other wise, it's an average experience. Oh and on another note unrelated to the hotel itself, be prepared for it to smell like cow manure all the time outside of the hotel. Luckily it stays outside and not in your room unless you open the windows. read more

Nice hotel and reasonable rate. Rooms modern and clean. I tend to stay at the hotel next door, Fairfield Inn but decided to give this one a shot. I wasn't to pleased with the check-in at the front desk... I travel to the area often for work, after a long day of driving and work I check in and specifically asked the woman at the front desk for a room near the end/exit and not near an elevator (generally those rooms are not as noisy), she said, "sure, no problem we have plenty of rooms available"... So, I was given a ground level room next to the elevator, room situated in the middle of hotel next to utility room and my room window overlooked the outdoor pool! I was to darn tired to ask to change rooms and have to lug all my stuff. Though this may seem minor to some, when you travel often for business you know what you like and this wasn't it. I'll likely give them a try again since I'm sure it was an isolated incident. read more
