Visited Fairhaven Poke after hearing about it so decided to try it! Ordered the large poke, split, with rice. I chose the sockeye salmon, Korean marinated hamachi, and the tofu as the side. The tofu was surprisingly my favorite out of the three choices, that marinate was good! The hamachi tasted a bit frozen, or atleast it was very cold, and the sockeye salmon was alright. This is probably the first time I had sockeye salmon in poke so it was a bit unusual to me. The salmon was a lot tougher than Atlantic salmon and not as fatty so I didn't enjoy it as much. Overall, the poke was good, I wish the fish had a bit more seasoning to them but it tasted refreshing! read more

Server was happy to explain how it worked and what everything was. Freshness, this is always a worry at a new sea food place. Everything from tuna-Ika was soft and fresh nothing chewy. Spam musubis- was the thing I both wanted to try the most and least . It was recommended by the server who was having one for lunch herself. It was the perfect level of salt and spice. At $3.50 it would make a great quick cheap protein boost. Would order again. We shared a Shaka mango hibiscus ice tea. Good level of sweetness. Over all everything was $40+tip. Even though the crab meat is imitation, I found the dressing to be really good, so if they gave the option of swapping out for real crab meat for even a little extra charge, I think it would make that side item awesome. Fairhaven Poke is highly disappointing. I tried this place because of many good reviews, but they do not represent my experience. For an expensive $18, I got a poke bowl with two scoops of fish and one side (yes, only one side). The salmon was not sushi quality with many poor quality trim cuts and did not taste good. The eel was so tough and rubbery that much of it was inedible. The sauces and seasoning were also overly salted and heavy. Even the rice wasn't prepared well. I would most definitely not recommend this place. Not sure why they had so many good reviews. The place also looks untidy. Go to Just Poke instead, where the poke is far better, and less expensive. read more

This is the best poke place in the entire state of Washington. Super fresh ingredients each time, local Hawaiian ingredients that are not sold in other poke places like sea asparagus (called sea party) and Hawaiian seaweed, as well as super delicious scallops that look insane!!! Made a return visit on our trip to Bellingham and even though it was another delicious meal, it did not meet the poke of my dreams. The drunken scallops were still some of the best things I have ever tasted bu the albacore tuna while still plenty delicious was not as fresh and memorable as last time. I did really enjoy their hamachi both in the miso cilantro and the thai basil. What I didnt realize was that getting half salad is NOT a good deal (very little greens) and that the fish itself is quite expensive! E Komo mai (welcome) to a taste of the Hawaiian islands. I miss the days of living on Oahu and going to Foodland grocery store to pick from at least ten different varieties of poke. Needless to say I was delighted when Aloha Poke opened in Fairhaven. While they don't have the extensive offerings (crab, salmon, mussels, etc.) one would find in Hawaii, they do offer several different mixes of ahi (raw tuna) poke. My favorite mixes include Shoyu Ginger, Habanero Ahi and Spicy Mayo. How it works: Step up to the counter and ask to try a sample in order to decide which flavor Ahi mix you want. The server will direct you to select either a small or large bowl, load it with rice, and then deck it with your choice of ahi mix on top. The Shoyu Ginger Ahi is by far their most popular, but why stop there? If you are like me and can't commit, ask the server to put several different mixes in your bowl. I really miss the spicy mayo Ahi bowls in Hawaii. Aloha Poke hasn't quite mastered the mix that I long for, but hey, it's cheaper than a flight to Honolulu. The Ginger Shoyu made up for it, and definitely deserves high marks in my book. It's as they say on the islands, "Broke da mouth grindz!" The family owned business flies in fresh fish from Hawaii. Finally tried this place out today! Been wanting to ever since it opened. I love poke bowls. I have only had them from sushi or Japanese places that usually just have one choice on the menu. Here you get to pick your protein and side. I had the small bowl, the large one looked too big. The small bowl still had plenty of food for one. I chose the spicy tuna for my protein and seaweed/ocean salad for the side. You can get it on a bed of rice or salad or they said you could do half and half. I chose the bed of rice. The tuna had just the right amount of spiciness, it was covered in a delicious sauce. The seaweed salad was super flavorful as well I could eat that on it's own even. They also sprinkle a yummy seasoning over the rice. It was just a scrumptious bowl of delight. Had me craving more. read more

It's still the same great staff and delicious poke!** You know a new restaurant in town is good when you find yourself craving it and making convenient excuses to visit the neighborhood just so you can go back. This, my friends, is what has happened to me (numerous times) since Aloha Poke opened! Located on the main drag in Fairhaven, this place is offering up some seriously unique food never-before-seen in town. And if the long lines during the lunch rush are any indication, the poke-loving public has responded well. They have everything from "regular" poke (which, for the uninitiated, is raw ahi/tuna tossed in soy sauce and a few other yummy ingredients) to salmon to hamachi and even tofu and shrimp offerings. Some even have a spicy version and trust me, they ain't lying about the "spicy" part. All are served over a bowl of either rice or salad greens. When you arrive you choose either a large or small bowl, then head over to the poke-window-of-temptation and choose one or more main ingredient offerings, optional extras like sea asparagus or seaweed, and then grab any sides or drinks you want (they also have beer/cider/wine). Everything is priced by weight, and I usually manage to get out of there with a small rice bowl and 2-3 poke offerings for around $12-15. Do I find this unpredictable pricing technique a little annoying? Yes. Has it ever once stopped me from eating here? Nope. Because the amazing freshness of their fish is worth it. BTW if you're poke-curious they will give you a taste of anything out of the case, and their friendly staff will answer any questions you have. Great, now I'm craving poke AGAIN.
