Spent nearly a week at the Maui Schooner time shares in Kihei. My girlfriend's an owner. The resort was fine, unfortunately the Capitol vacations timeshare management company wasn't. Her timeshare is a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom. That's what she reserved and her confirmation email showed. Unfortunately Capitol vacations told the property to give her a 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom unit. We were a party of 5 so 1 bedroom and 1 bathroom wasn't enough space for us. When my gf called the front desk she was told that the property was sold out and that was the only unit available. So we spent 2 nights in the 1 bedroom unit but were promised a 2 bedroom unit on Tuesday. Unfortunately on Tuesday that unit had a broken air conditioner and couldn't be used. So they offered us a 2nd 1 bedroom unit. Wednesday the 2 bedroom unit's a/c was repaired so we moved again. My girlfriend and I flew home on Thursday night. Friday morning they moved the other 3 to yet another room. To be clear, it wasn't the local staff on site at the Maui Schooner, rather it was the Capitol vacations who couldn't get anything right. It's my girlfriend's timeshare and I am just her guest. So I don't have any standing to complain. She's very frustrated and I believe that she will be expressing her displeasure in a letter to Capitol vacations. 2 stars because the resort and amenities were nice. The management of the timeshare should get negative stars. read more

I'll start by saying I would never book here again. This place does have some good aspects. Love the two bedroom two bath condo. It was affordable. Thats about it for the pluses. Just know what you're getting into before booking. No turn down service. No fresh towels, gotta clean the room before you leave. Gotta run the dishwasher. I wouldn't call this a resort. It's a decent no frills room for the price I guess. read more

We had a lovey stay here at Maui Schooner. The condo was clean & well appointed with an ice chest, chairs and washer/dryer. Our Baby stayed in the fold out sofa and was nice & cozy there. Loved the coffee maker in the morning and the pool was so nice & clean. Pool area has very nice barbecues that many of the guests take advantage of. I found them to be clean & well maintained. We have owned at the Maui Schooner for a looong time! We love this place because it is small, local and a great location to do everything we want on the island of Maui. We like that the Schooner is well kept, clean... ( it is not fancy) but it has all the amenities we need for our two week stay every year! Mahalo! read more

Place is clean, views are incredible. We got here late had to use the phone to call security to get us checked in. Wasn't too bad, had to wait for a little bit for someone to come meet us. Parking is kind of limited so not sure how that is going to work out. Room was clean, bathroom shower is nice and bed is comfy. Rooms have ACs and a washer and dryer. Location is spot on with beach accessible. Kind of dated but overall worth it. Check in the next day was super easy. Clerk was nice and helpful. read more

This may be the best value on Maui Island. When you reserve your unit, you'll have the opportunity to be in the front building (if available) with a view of the waters surrounding Maui plus the islands of Molakai and Lanai. The units are well kept up and clean. For those who own, the timeshare fees are very affordable. read more

Place was good to chill Everything is there from dryer and washer to dish washer etc... Just a heads up They do have general rules for the pool area No jumping / don't bring your owe music to the pool! Whatever is playing is playing ! No noise after 10pm So if your in the party stage this might not be the place. We had this security person dressed in his pjs and didnt like that we were a bit loud and our music was playing so we found out about the place. Me and my husband stayed at Maui schooner during our trip. The place is right next to the beach, close to the main streets with good restaurant options and very well maintained. If you are planning to stay longer than a week you gotta wash your towels and throw trashes as they dont provide you with a room service. I love this resort. Easy to park and walk to your room with out a lobby or maze. This is more of a vintage Hawaii vibe if you like to be secluded and easy access to the beach. The pool and spa are well maintained and the grounds are always immaculate. Short distance from shops and dining and each unit has a full kitchen. Staff is really kind and easy to work with too. The resort was clean and spacious. We booked the 2 bedroom 2 bath. It had a washer and dryer. Just make sure to run the washer with a cleaning pod before using it or your clothes may end up smelling musty and stale. The office can provide you with one. I liked that we got the first floor right across the pool. Pool & jacuzzi area were kept clean. Our patio was surrounded by tropical gardens so we had plenty of privacy. The beach was walking distance right after the grassy park area. We had pickle ball & tennis courts at the park. The office provided us with anything extra that we needed. I would stay here again. The manager onsite needs to retrain the front desk person named "Anu" with Customer Service courses. She made the decision but claimed the actual manager was "Heather" when asked who the manager was. We were told that "they wanted us out" when we asked about staying longer. They clearly state that there is a fee for staying beyond the checkout of 10 am. We asked about the fee and were hit with such unprofessional behavior it almost erased all the good customer service from the other staff. The day we checked out they actually shut off card access to our room at exactly 10am. My wife was left stuck outside while taking out the remaining luggage. They weren't kidding when they said they wanted us out.. they had to send a staff member to open up for us. Again every interaction was positive but this "Anu" person, she needs customer service training or maybe service industry is not for her read more

We are enjoying our nice, clean 2 bed/bath condo overlooking Maalaea Harbor. I've seen many whale spouts and a few turtle heads from my ocean view balcony! Great sunset views too! It's a great location, away from the tourist traps yet close enough to anywhere you want to go! There is no restaurant on premises but plenty nearby. We enjoy cooking breakfast in our room then finding some great happy hour; there's many to choose from! read more

We loved staying here for the first time. Family of four with two teens, so we needed extra space to spread out. We had excellent views of the pool, volcanic ridge line and ocean from our lanai. The management is super nice and very welcoming. There isn't a lot of action near the condo and the private beach we didn't find suitable - but we had a car and drove to the public beaches all over Maui. This place was a good value, they even provide a cooler, beach towels and three free Tide pods for the in-suite washer dryer. read more

Love our timeshare! Absolutely beautiful place, and very relaxing. It's very quite pretty much all the time. In the rooms you have pretty much everything you need to cook and they have a washer and dryer inside each unit and a lot of stuff you need for the beach. Love being able to sit on our balcony and watch the sunset and just be able to see the ocean. I do think they need to update the rooms a little bit, maybe repaint and just deep clean. We have friends who are owners and we asked if we could use one of their weeks. First time in Maui and we love the location and the space is perfect. We are in a one bedroom ocean view. Beautiful location, can watch sunsets from your balcony. Close to grocery store, coffee shop, etc....and the unit has all The necessities plus a cooler and lawn chairs that we tossed in the car and took to the beach. I was pleasantly surprised with these condos. We had a one bedroom next to the pool. It was very clean and well supplied with amenities. It had full size washer and dryer and full kitchen. Buyer beware. Not only do they have a ridiculous cancellation policy, their customer service has been HORRIBLE. They enriched themselves with about $2000 of my hard earned money because I canceled within 24 hours of booking. They get to keep that money AND rent out the same room to someone else. When I tried to see if they could still honor the reservation or allow me a travel credit, they did not even let me finish my sentence.The general manager HUNG UP on me. So I stayed at the Maui Schooner for a week and this was not the best hotel but also not the worst. Well first off, the place was under construction the whole time we were here! yeah, so annoying and inconvenient. We had asked for ocean view rooms but were told that was not possible due to the construction but people were still on that side of the resort. what?! Anyways, another thing that was not pleasant was how thin the walls are! you can literally hear everything through the walls. That's why the pool closes so early and you're constantly asked to be quiet. Besides those two things, the place wasn't too bad. The rooms have washers and dryers and complimentary soap to wash. They also provide you with beach chairs and ice coolers. Overall, my experience with the hotel itself wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. read more

So very disappointed. I traded my world property for Maui Schooner which they said was wonderful. The property is not in the most desirable neighborhood. Not really local to much. Usually in a timeshare when you're there a week you get it cleaned one time here not at all. They will not even exchange your towels. Before I came I called and asked if I should bring my own coffee or laundry detergent and they said no whatever you need is available. They didn't bother to tell me there was a charge. Two dollars for a package of coffee and laundry soap is a dollar. There is also a charger if you need more body soap or hand soap. Absolutely ridiculous. Especially since they told me when I called it would be included. The property is OK, old. The pool is very small with a very small Jacuzzi. They did have three barbecues which was nice and a short walk to the beach. Overall would not-recommend. Also. There are a lot of homeless people around. I went to throw away the trash and there was someone going to the dumpsters. Remember if you don't take out your trash at the end of your stay they will charge you $75 read more

I just spent a week at Maui Schooner and it was absolutely amazing! Before my trip I emailed Maui Schooner with a few questions and Vicki answered quickly and put my family and I at ease. Vicki is very professional and will do all that she can to make your stay comfortable. We were greeted by Anu, who checked us in. She's a wonderful asset to the resort. Anu suggested places to visit, things to do, where to eat, and beaches to see. Kihei, we discovered thanks to Anu, has everything we needed from Costco to Longs. The Condo was cool, clean, and comfortable; a home away from home and the kitchen had everything we needed for the week. The washer and dryer in our unit made it easy to do our laundry and towels. Beach chairs, beach towels, and a large cooler are provided and are inside the unit. We rented a beach umbrella from the front office for $5.00 for the whole week. Sean and Paloni are in the front office always ready to help so you can check out equipment when you need it. Devin, the security guard, was also helpful and polite young man. The grounds of the resort are well lit at night and decorated with beautiful tropical plants and gorgeous plumeria trees. The pool and jacuzzi area is lovely place to relax, sit, and even bbq. They even have a fire pit at night which I enjoyed with my husband. The best thing from our condo was opening the balcony doors and being able to watch and listen to the ocean. The views are spectacular! Having the beach just steps away was a definite plus. We will definitely be coming back soon. read more

My husband and I stayed at this location that my aunt and uncle shared their timeshare with us as a wedding gift for our honeymoon. Reading one previews review, that actually gave this place 2 stars, seems like management did what they could to upgrade this place. It even sounds like we stayed in the same room as she [Kim S.] did. Pros: comfortable bed, more than enough pillows, blankets and towels (both bath towels and beach towels), included beach chairs to take with you on the beach, and a cooler (Items that we were not expecting), fully operational open concept kitchen, washer and dryer with one box of complementary laundry detergent, great access to the swimming pool and beach, provides tennis rackets and golf clubs, even board games, and friendly staff. Someone complained about it being too hot and that the AC was only in the living room. But we turned the AC off and only used the ceiling fans (which are in the living room and bedroom), which was perfect for us. Cons: the traffic is a bit noisy where our bedroom is located. The staff does have a sign that says "shhh guests sleeping", but no one is paying that any mind. We didn't like the fact that we weren't able to choose our room especially when we booked this trip almost a year in advance. We requested building B, which faces the beach, and on a high floor. We got the complete opposite. We got building A, first floor, facing the pool. Luckily, we were off to the side and not directly in front of the pool, or else that could have been very noisy. Their wifi is terrible!!! It does not reach all the way to the bedroom. So you must sit in the living room to get the best access. Because the pros outweigh the cons, I'll give them 4 stars but I would suggest to them that those who book their rooms far enough in advance should have a choice of which room they want AND please get a better and bigger wifi router so it can reach throughout the entire suite. read more

Great location, right off the beach. In between wailea, kahului, and lahaina. Two bedrooms and two baths, had everything we needed from kitchenette utensils to coolers and beach chairs. Btw... Freezer can make ice so no need to buy any. Has DVD players so we're able to rent movies. The only disadvantage is that the second room does not get air conditioning access and can get really hot sometimes. This room also faces the walkway so I could hear everyone walking in and out while I'm trying to sleep. Plenty of parking, but needs a permit. You can get that in the office. read more

My husband and I traded with this location and stayed here for a week. It has beautiful grounds, well attended, clean. We had the one bedroom unit on the first floor directly behind the office. While it was convenient access to the pool, BBQ, and parking lot, it was a bit noisy with walking traffic to the office, which is where the bedroom is. Fully equipped kitchen, lawn chairs, cooler included. The bedroom was not air conditioned, and it was very hot. You cannot open the windows to try to get a breeze because we had the office behind us, and it already sounded as if people were in our room. The bed was very old and the springs were squeaking, and not comfortable at all. The pillows, which they offered more than enough, we're flatter than a book, and just as hard. Three together wouldn't equal one. Seriously, these pillows were probably the original ones when the property was built. You are responsible to wash your own towels, as they do not do an exchange. You can pay to have your room serviced, if you want, but it is not included. The bathroom is very small. One sink and small counter top. The tub is really small. It's half size of a full tub, and not much room to even put shampoo in there... My husband said he was comfortable there, and didn't think it was that bad, but I was the one sleeping on the sofa because the bedroom was so hot and noisy. Maybe the two bedroom units are better, but stay away from the one bedroom. read more

My parents started bringing us to the Maui Schooner in the 1980's and now with my own family we have come when we can. I love this place mostly for all the memories and nostalgia. It isn't the Marriott or Westin or Grand Wailea but it is a clean, low-key, comfortable place to stay in Kihei. We just stayed here (Room B-101) for 7 days and had a wonderful time (once again). Rooms have been remodeled slightly and you are right in the heart of Kihei central to all that you need (shopping, groceries, food places, Kam beaches, etc.). With 4 kids of our own, again, you don't get the awesome pools and slides and fancy shmancy stuff, but you do get a nice and relaxing place that you can enjoy and springboard to all your Maui excursions quite comfortably. "Resort Fee" is only $5 a day (nothing compared to the big name places), the wifi is strong (each unit gets it own router), parking is free/included, kitchen is fully stocked, free DVD rentals in the main office (with some good new releases too), beach chairs, beach towels, cooler in unit, washer/dryer in unit, really not much to complain about. If you get an A unit, you'll be facing the ocean. The B units face the pool. A units are hard to get. Currently, the grass in front of the A units are not mowed and have mostly died due to some issue with the county and installation of underground water pipes (or something like that), so it isn't as pretty as it used to be. The B-101 unit leads directly out to the pool, so we loved it. Well, I could go on and on, but the Schooner has been a good place for my family over the years and I thought it was time I left a review. 5 stars for a great value, good location, and comfortable/convenient place to stay. read more

We are owners, every two years, two bedrooms. We have stayed in many different rooms and always prefer Building A as it faces the ocean with a great view across the grassy public park. Nice small complex so pool and hot tub are never crowded. Units recently updated so they are nice and well appointed. Includes everything you need. If you are unfamiliar with timeshares you might not understand why the maid doesn't make your bed and no one is going to bring you room service. It's more like home away from home. The room was clean upon arrival, but housekeeping was not included so we were constantly washing towels. The bed in the bedroom is actually not that bad, but the fold out couch bed is absolute torture (safe for children or people without spines only.) the kitchen was great and the air conditioning worked well, in my opinion. The pool was nice and the location (central coast of Kihei) was private and secluded without being too far from great food, fun, and shopping. I would definitely not get trapped into the orientation "continental breakfast" thing. It is sales pitch for rip off excursions that can be found cheaper elsewhere and the breakfast was bad coffee (without real creamer) pineapple, and pastry loaf. read more

We enjoyed our 2 bedroom condo for a weeks stay at this resort. We found ourselves pressured however, by the unit manager from the first day we arrived. She laid down the law and repeated herself throughout or stay as to remember (so help us God) that upon our discharge we WILL be out by 10:00 AM sharp or pay $100 per hour. AND do NOT leave so much as a gum wrapper behind. Did Nancy (oops - did I mention her name?) make herself CLEAR?!!! No she reminded us again the day before we left. Leave the place clean or else. GET OUT at 10:00 sharp or else. She gave examples of just what other people have left behind that was NOT acceptable. OMG - someone left a brochure behind! (They are dammed to hell in her mind and just do NOT commit such a crime....... sigh.) She was wound so tight that it really put a damper on our vacation. We are not returning. PS. When we requested something for our unit, before my husband finished his sentence, she said "NO!" The property maintenance man was within ear-shot of us and he answered, "Sure, I'll help you with that". Of course, we were all rolling our eyes at her. That woman is such a control freak - she really should NOT be in the hospitality business. One bad apple! read more

Was able to get a great deal on this place through Goldrush Getaways. I got the two bedroom condo on the first floor right by the pool, room B101 it was a perfect location. It wasn't noisy at all. The condo was very clean and organized and well stocked. The living room and both bedrooms had air-conditioning which worked very well and was nice and cool to sleep in. For a two bedroom two bath condo however it did not have a bathtub to bathe the children in which was a little disappointing. The pool area was wonderful with a warm pool and a hot water hot tub, which was really wonderful to relax and unwind in. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In the front office they have lots of games and books and children's toys and movies that you can borrow. They have a little shed outside that has items people have left behind to borrow like boogie boards and snorkeling gear, etc. There's also tennis courts with tennis rackets and balls available. The location was close to shopping, food, shave Ice, and grocery stores. Overall I was very happy with this place it's a great place for family with children. read more

We stayed here for a week and loved it. The location was excellent for all our activities and the views are spectacular. It is an older condo resort, needs updating, but it is super clean, has immaculate grounds, along with friendly & helpful staff, and EVERYTHING worked in the condo! Kitchen was well-equipped, plenty of towels & pillows, furniture was dated but comfortable & clean. We had a nice view from our lanai and it was very quiet here. My only complaint is the bed was much too hard, my back & hips are still not happy and we have been home 6 days. We would stay here again with no qualms. read more

Was a former owner several years ago and Maui Schooner at that time was an OK place for a timeshare but nothing great. Roll forward to June 2014 and wow what a difference!! I'm an owner again and glad I am!! The units have been renovated to higher standards than when Maui Schooner was originally built. The kitchens have nice amenities and are well equipped for cooking at home. The grounds are well maintained and manicured. The office staff are friendly and have services for booking various tours and activities on Maui. Makes me want to live here as I am so glad I bought my timeshare week again at Maui Schooner. Well maintained resort and rooms were very clean. The main issue was the air conditioning (we went in Aug). There is only 1 AC in the living roon, NO A/C in the bedroom. I had concerns about this when I made the reservation and was assured that the bedroom would be cool. Well, it wasn't. It was a sauna and sleeping was extremely difficult. When I called to complain, I was told maintenance would be up the next day to try to resolve the situation. They never came. No portable ACs were available. Also, the entire staff leaves at 5:00, so unless it's an emergency, you're on your own after 5. Staff was generally friendly and other than issues described it was fine. read more

My wife & I have been coming to the Maui Schooner for the last 20 years. The rooms & grounds are better today than the first time we came. They really keep the maintenance & up-keep at the top of the list. Lots of the employees that were there 20 years ago are still there & call us by name each time we come.
