Honestly, this is the worst hotel we've stayed at in Cancun. I'm extremely disappointed with both the atmosphere and the service. The entire hotel has a noticeable sewage smell, and the food options are very limited and of poor quality. We are here for five days, and unfortunately, on the very first day we realized this was not going to be one of our better vacations. In my opinion, this hotel is a 3-star property at best. We did a lot of research before booking, and social media made this resort look amazing, but our experience has been very different. We've stayed at four other hotels in Cancun, and all of them were significantly better. The wildlife around the property is one of the few positive aspects. However, I was disturbed to see an employee attempt to hit one of the animals with a bag right in front of me. That was upsetting to witness and made me concerned about how the animals may be treated when guests aren't around. Based on our experience, I would recommend considering other hotel options before booking here.

How to put into words how horrible this stay was at the ocean Riviera paradise in Playa Del Carmen. First at the airport it was very difficult to find the car service that takes you to the resort once we got to the resort and checked into our room, our beds were incorrect. We asked for two double and received one king. On day two, we were able to move rooms with double beds. Upon entering the rooms they are in desperate need of an update. The bathrooms have rings around the tubs streaks on the walls cracks around the bathtub. In the room the cabinet that holds the refrigerator and space for storage has woodrot. The couch in the room is supposed to be white leather, but is stained with so much rust I wouldn't even sit on it and our sheets were stained. On top of all of this the floor was filthy one day wearing house shoes in the room only the bottom of them were filthy. As far as the customer service it was horrible. Workers are rude they don't answer questions. The ones that do want to talk to you want to sell you something. Every five minutes you have to tell somebody NO you don't wanna buy anything. You don't want a massage you don't wanna take an excursion you don't want to take a picture with an animal. I have never been to an all-inclusive where it is so segregated between privileged and regular guest. We had friends in the privilege building and were told that we could use their pool with them we just couldn't use the amenities which was fine and then a bartender at the swim up told us to get out of the pool because we didn't have the right color band on or we could pay an additional $180 to spend the day in that pool so two workers in the same area don't even have the same information. As far as the steakhouse restaurant absolutely hundred percent do not recommend they cannot cook a steak to save their life unless it's burnt and that's what you like and the steak is so thin it's not even worth it. The Japanese restaurant Sakura was the best place on the whole resort you do have to stand in line the day of to get a reservation. The buffet was OK. I would say food is a 6 out of 10 across the whole resort now for the beach if you think you're gonna get white sands and blue ocean you are sadly mistaken. Their beach at this resort is so rocky and the water is murky. It is not worth even going down there also while at the beach, you will also be flooded with people trying to sell you things absolutely 100% save your money. This resort will never get another dime of my money for the lack of amenities, the lack of service, the lack of a beach and the lack of cleanliness.

We went as Priviledge status for 2 week. We arrange great transfer in and out with Tantum , google it , they are great , on time and clean private van The resort is aging but better than average , we had Adrianna as our butler , she was constant help with reservations and activity info I don't recommend the steakhouse and the Mex theme restaurant , menus were poor , and slow . t bone steak was fat and tough and had that fibre ( poor ) Mex has a crisp menu . We did the Blue Moon ADULTS restaurant 2x as it was generally relaxed and quiet as no KIDS RUNNING AROUND SCREEMING ! The pool for Priv was nice , cool but it was hot out , I think the bottom surface needs resurfacing , there was rough spots and neigh patches where the blue was long gone ( but that's a big job in a tourist operation ) Maybe it was a poor week in March to visit but so many families with out of. Control kids and parents GLUED TO THEIR CELLPHONES . The feee WiFi worked well all Week ! The beach was nice , sandy , not much seaweed , red flagged and yellow by natures waves . Bar service out there too , friendly waitresses everywhere Booze seemed light in all drinks Lots of good free house wines and cocktails Mexico must think quietly we Tourists are messy , loud and as it's all inclusive we waste SO MUCH FOOD ON MOST TABLES , we think we are taste testers or food reviewers . If it cost for meals I think we would eat and waste much less Last info : get up EARLY to reserve a lounge chair w a blue towel , and sun umberella

Booking was easy through their website. Arrange by transportation to the resort was made easy by their pre arrangement. Check was not complicated although there is a cadre of people at reception whose sole purpose is to sweeten you up to purchase a time share. There is an adults only section which I had assumed if you were an adult you could go to but apparently this was a special option you needed to purchase. I'd probably suggest they utilize those timeshare people to upsell the adults only or "privilege" option at the resort. There were plenty of restaurants and food choices. They were a little tricky to get a reservation, a few needed the app and one you had to go to the reservation point at 0830. The Steakhouse was okay, the ribeye was very thin and I had asked for medium rare and got well instead. The Italian restaurant had beef medallions which were cooked much better. The buffet was a highlight and I would say more satisfying than the reservation only restaurants. The beach area was okay, a little rocky in areas and always packed to the point no seating was available unless you got done there at dawn. Would probably appreciate if at the pools and beach there was an option for reserved seating or cabanas. The staff were very pleasant and always very helpful. Overall I'd probably say 7/10. If I were to come back it would be on the adults only side or privilege package. Also the resort cats and coatis were fun to see, watch and occasionally pet (the cats only).

We checked into our room (a premium room in the adults-only Besos section) and it reeked of toxic paint. We tried to call the front desk but after getting hung up on after being transferred unsuccessfully 3 times we were informed that the front desk drops/hangs up on guest after 3PM due to being busy at that time. We were instructed by the operator to leave the room and go in person to the front desk. The hotel pairs you with an associate with the goal of upselling you to their Privilege level but after the experience we had, that does not seem likely. The hotel is gorgeous and restaurants are decent. We ate at the seafood restaurant while waiting for our room to be ready and order the California tacos. The first order was excellent but the second order did not have the guacamole that the first order had and arrived with tortillas that were different (not as good) as the first order. The view was awesome though. I feel like the resort is within their power to do better.

My husband and I were in need of a vacation. Typically, we head to the mountains since we live near the coast, but this time we decided to change it up and enjoy a relaxing getaway soaking up the sun and sand. We found H10 Ocean Riviera Paradise had some great reviews on various sites, but I regret not checking Yelp first! We booked a shuttle service to and from the airport and opted for a private shuttle instead of the standard one, which stops at various hotels. This choice made our arrival seamless--I highly recommend it! Check-in was a bit chaotic and probably should have been a warning sign, but we were just excited to be on vacation! Like other reviews mentioned, we got roped into a timeshare pitch that lasted nearly 4 hours!! I was NOT happy about that! The initial packages started at over $30k, but by the time we walked away, they had dropped to $4k. The property itself is pretty, but the service was lacking. It felt like they were understaffed throughout the entire resort. We booked the Privileged Swim Up Jr. Suite through their website and snagged a nice deal. Was it worth upgrading to the privilege package? Maybe, but it's hard to say. We could have booked a standard room for half the price. While the privilege package offered a few extra perks, we ended up eating the same quality food and didn't receive any better service. Our butler was very nice and helpful with reservations, but the room wasn't the cleanest. We had to request housekeeping to take care of a few things at the beginning of our stay. Over the course of our five-night stay, it was a bit of a struggle; they didn't replenish towels, stock the fridge, or empty the dehumidifier. The swim-up pool was a fantastic feature, and I spent a lot of time enjoying it every day. Unfortunately, the food and restaurant options were quite disappointing. The quality was far below my expectations, especially given the privilege package. The steaks were low quality, and the dining hall seemed to serve the same food every day. Lastly, the beach area was limited, with only a small section of property for beach access. The privilege status was handy here, as they had an area roped off. For everyone else--good luck! The few beach chairs available were directly in the sun.

I recently took a family vacation here, which included a party of 17 people spread out over 6 rooms. This was my 1st ever all-inclusive experience, and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The buffet resteraunt was a staple for my family for breakfast, and they offer a variety of other resteraunts to choose from. The Italian one was my favorite despite that typically not being for 1st choice for food, but I loved it. Hurricane Beryl made an appearance 5 days into our full week vacation, and the resort handled things nicely. They changed beachfront facing rooms to other locations, provided boxed lunches with a sandwich, Chips, drink and dessert for every person in a room due to resteraunts closing at 7pm for dinner and breakfast not starting until 10am the next morning due to the hurricane coming overnight. Thankfully, nothing major happened to the property, and things reopened, and the vacation continued. All in all, I would highly recommend this place!!

Tips: TrafficTours $59 round trip per person transport from airport through hotel. $12 traveler charge from Mexico upon check in. Many cameramen and women throughout the resort - pictures can be found in the jewelry store but my goodness they are $20 per picture (discounts for buying larger packages but only around 20-30% off). Blue moon restaurant breakfast is exclusive to the upgraded stays - meaning that the only breakfast option besides for the coffee shop, is the buffet. Reservations for restaurants, especially the Sakura (highly sought after) should be made in person (online reservation worked for us some of the time) at 8:30am for the current day. Positives: All employees at the resort are super nice and service was 5/5 everywhere we went. Sakura restaurant was the highlight for our stay both in experience and it also being our favorite meal. Many options of where to eat with us trying new places/meals even through our 5th full day at the resort. We were brought anniversary macaroons (vanilla) 5/5 on our last day which was extremely considerate. The same evening our bed was made with chocolates as well! A highlight for our stay was the Coti Mundi (little furry animals with long tails), monkeys, and the cats throughout the resort. Cons: Our biggest gripe with the resort was in regards to the food - on average we rated the food about a 3/5. Dessert is almost entirely a 1/5 across the board for the entire resort. The majority of the food is simply lacking in flavor, while presentation is very impressive. We also had a few issues or inconsistencies with the website, where almost all info can be found. For example, we went for the 11pm-6am Route 66 snack time (only restaurant listed as open at this time) yet they only had hot dogs and hamburgers out front when the website listed a full separate menu of roughly 15 items. The gym is also pretty underwhelming. At first glance, it seems decent. After working out for 10 minutes you realize there is no AC and the humidity makes it impossible to catch your breath. Machines are also rusty and old. Listed above is the picture price under the tip section but $20 a picture is absurd. Also small note, if you get burnt easily.. bring your own Aloe Vera because it is $25 USD in the shop. Overall a fairly decent resort, however there is room for improvement. The staff knew our names, were kind to our kids, and went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. Our butler was attentive to our needs and accommodated every request. The drink/food service at the pool cabanas and the beach was great as well. The property is absolutely stunning. Of the hotels in the area, this one is by far the nicest, most private and without the typical commercial crowd. It felt private, secluded and quiet. We booked a Rooftop Ocean View Suite, but were delighted to get upgraded to the Two Bedroom villa. A bump from 966 to 1562 square feet of space (not including the extra outside space). The welcome drinks, popsicles (for the kids) and guacamole were great and of course the dramatic boat ride to your suite is one of a kind. The suites at Rosewood Mayakoba are amazing. Even the small suites are spacious (I think their smallest room is 788 sqft). Our suite had plentiful outdoor space, its own dock to the lagoon, a private plunge pool and also a large rooftop terrace. Truly too much space for our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids), but we happily enjoyed it. Service was stellar, which I expected at a high-end hotel. My most recent vacations have been to the Caribbean, so the combination of Mexican hospitality along with the Rosewood service really made for a nice stay. Our butler stayed in contact with us via Whatsapp, but we really didn't have many requests except for booking dinner reservations and ordering more cow's milk to the room for our baby. Our kids had their own monogrammed pillowcases, that we took home. The turn-down service also left small wooden figurines (indigenous) which was a nice touch for the kids. There's definitely an extra attention to detail that's on another level from other hotels. We were able to get a bike with training wheels and also a trailer for the kids to go on short bike rides with. The kids club was very good. Lots of planned activities throughout the day and an air conditioned indoor play area. Our daughter was 3, so one of us was with her, but I think kids 4 and older can stay alone. The staff was consistent and got to know our daughters pretty quickly. There are excursions within the property like the bat cave and boat rides which is nice (instead of just staying indoors doing arts and crafts). The family pool was just okay. There's a small shallow part for toddler to play in and also a bigger deeper pool. It's well kept, but I can see how some might say it's time for a renovation (which I believe they are doing). There isn't a very good gradual entry point in the bigger pool, so I would say it's not the most kid friendly for small children (no problem for bigger kids), since there's one step and then it drops off to 4 feet. The beach also is undergoing a lot of erosion along with the sargassum. It's narrow and slightly rocky, so I feel like if you plan on playing in the sand or spend a lot of time in the water, there might be better options. However, it's still quite scenic and perfectly fine for lounging in the recliner. Food was very good (especially breakfast at Casa del Lago), but is pricey like everyone mentions. La Fondita, the tostada restaurant in El Pueblito, is one of the better and more low-key options at Rosewood. There is a consistent kids menu at all the restaurants at Rosewood. We did not get a chance to check out the restaurants at the other hotels. TL;DR - Luxurious and family friendly resort that shines with their accommodations and service. It's relaxing, but quiet and a bit sleepy (might be too quiet for some people). Food is good, but pricey. Kids club is great, but the pool is just okay without easy entry or waterslides. Beach is not best for extended playtime in sand or water. Even so, I still loved it and would definitely return.

This is not an all inclusive , for the quality of service we made sure to bring $USD to add tip for everyone. They all work so hard in the heat to make your experience memorable! -Spa - Splurge for this! Best way to start our days first thing with massages and facials . You can also use the jacuzzi and steam room daily without services. I frequent Burke Williams and their masseuses are good , strong too ! They did our services outdoor for couples in this serene area with a fountain running. -room - we enjoyed the premium villas, super spacious with walk in closet, shower and bath tub . All the villas are close so a short walk to the pool - There is a little bass coming from the next door resort's DJ at night, but when I closed the windows , it was very muffled and did not bother us at all. - long drive from main road - so expect a secluded spot . They will call you a taxi that gets there in 20 min. Download WhatsApp and text the same taxi will take you back. Felt safe ! We can't wait to come back someday! Definitely highly recommend this place for all couples who just need to relax.

From the welcome coconut drink and cool towels to the thorough tour ( thanks Claudia) ,check in was a great experience. Bellmen we're very friendly and helpful. And our villa was just gorgeous! Heated plunge pool, hammock, and more great you as you enter the area. You are in the jungle, so there is a lot of natural privacy. Inside the villa, you will be caught up in the romantic vibe thanks to the sweet and decadent decor. Outdoor shower brings you close to nature. Many special touches await. Poolside is another area to be spoiled- by Pepe and crew. They will get you anything you want, no need to lift a finger. And the wait staff at Coral restaurant are very thorough. They seem more like personal butlers rather than waiters, taking the time to get to know their guests by name, and learning their food and drink preferences. This area is also beautiful, with a view of the ocean. And the spa is very relaxing, access to the spa facilities including the steam room, jacuzzi is complimentary with your stay. Viceroy isn't without its flaws. The small beach is barely swimable due to the coral/rocks. And though they work to remove the seaweed, if you come from May-Nov that will be somewhat of a pain ( the whole area not just here). And there is music that drifts over from the next door hotel which at times annoys. It wasn't too bad while we were here, but was noticiable. There are mosquitos and rainforest animals around, so if you're not okay with seeing agouti while eating breakfast on your patio, this isn't your place. And yes it's pricey. Nevertheless the quality, service, and beauty of this resort make up for any issues. We didn't want to leave!

I was not approached by anyone offering to sell me anything or attend presentations. Staff were super friendly and helpful during our stay. There's a main pool and a quiet pool. So you have an option where you want to be based on your interest. Night shows were great with some fantastic performers. I wish that there was more Mexican themed shows or music but I guess they try to accommodate that the majority of guests were from Canada and USA. Some of the restaurants rotate being open for dinner. Your best bet is to make reservations ahead of time. You can always show up but might have to wait depending on the time. Overall food was good. Drinks were ok but as a social drinker, I wasn't impressed with my 1-2 drinks/day during my stay. I think I had one drink that I found really good. Beach area is not private and you might have people approach you to sell you stuff or services. A polite "no, thank you" works great. Location and proximity to 5th Avenue made it a great place to explore the area. Although filled with tourists, you also get some local interactions. I would come back to this resort in the future.

Ownership has changed, and this property is now known as Hyatt Vivid Playa del Carmen…read more My boyfriend planned the trip, and my only request was an all-inclusive resort. While the property has a lot of potential, it ultimately missed the mark, especially for a resort of this size. The biggest issue was the constant selling. I understand upselling is part of the business, but having to say no repeatedly throughout the stay was exhausting. Even after interacting with the same staff members multiple times, nearly every conversation felt like a sales pitch. We also received early morning calls to the room for non-urgent matters and promotions, which was disruptive and frustrating. Despite being advertised as all-inclusive, there were frequent pushes to upgrade to higher-end alcohol, exclusive experiences, and add-ons. I would much rather pay more upfront for a truly inclusive experience than feel harassed during my vacation. It really affected the overall vibe of the trip. The food was average and not memorable. The highlight was the coffee shop, which was open most of the day and consistently good. Poolside dining is very limited. You cannot casually order snacks like chips and guacamole while at the pool and instead have to go to one of the restaurants. Also be cautious with food near the pool, as wildlife grabbed my pizza while I was sitting there. Overall, this resort could be great, but the aggressive upselling, average food, and limited poolside service made it disappointing for an all-inclusive experience.

Rating: (4 out of 5 stars)…read more Our stay at Banyan Tree Mayakoba was overall a beautiful and relaxing experience. The setting is absolutely stunning--lush, tranquil, and meticulously maintained. The villa was private and perfect for unwinding. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout the resort and the ease of getting around via bikes or golf carts. That said, we're giving 4 instead of 5 stars due to a few key issues that impacted our stay. During a rainstorm, the ceiling in our villa leaked, which was surprising given the caliber of the property. The floor on the top deck of the pool was a bit wobbly too. There were also noticeable inconsistencies in service--some team members were incredibly warm and attentive, while others seemed disengaged or confused by basic requests. Upon arrival, Juan, our service person for the week, mentioned he arranged a golf cart and reservations at La Copa but didn't do either. We also felt very rushed at check in, our flight was delayed 40 min, but some guests received bracelets and other nice touches upon arrival we didn't get. Lastly, we ran into frustrating discrepancies with our final bill that took time and energy to resolve at checkout. While these issues didn't overshadow the overall experience, they did fall short of the flawless service we expected from a resort at this level. Still, the beauty of the property and the many highlights of our stay make it a destination we'd consider returning to--with hopes that the service becomes more consistent and infrastructure more resilient in the future. Shout out to Pepe, Rene, and all the cart drivers who were super!

Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and taken by boat across the scenic Mayakoba River to the check-in area. We were offered a room upgrade, which we appreciated. However, during our stay, we noticed several areas where maintenance and improvements were needed. For example, the light switches in the restroom didn't function properly, and many of the outdoor light bulbs were out, including the LED lights above the bed. While I understand that proximity to the ocean can cause wear and tear due to saltwater exposure, I believe that management, especially the concierge team, should ensure that rooms are thoroughly inspected before guests are allowed in. On a positive note, the dining options were excellent, and there's convenient access to nearby resorts with the option for room delivery (with a small fee). However, from a management perspective, I noticed a recurring issue with staff members frequently being on their phones. I recognize that this may be for communication purposes to keep staff informed of activities around the resort, but I would recommend a more discreet approach. For instance, hosts standing at the front of a restaurant should avoid being visibly on their phones, as it can come across as unprofessional, especially in a four- or five-star environment. A discussion between management and staff on maintaining a professional presence in front of guests would be beneficial. Lastly, when I shared my feedback regarding these areas for improvement, the management responded promptly with some thoughtful service recovery measures, which I appreciated.

BRING INSECT REPELLENT AND LEAVE YOUR HEELS AT HOME LADIES…read more IF YOU WANT SPECIAL ATTENTION, STAY AT SECRETS MAROMA. Keep your expectations low if you've stayed at other Secrets resorts. This place was such a disappointment, especially for almost $750/night with Preferred. Pros: Multiple pools, cool infinity pool, Preferred Observatory restaurant, Marketplace buffet, nice Preferred lounge, and most staff were friendly. Cons: Tons of mosquitoes (bring bug spray), even found a roach in the pool. You can't make restaurant reservations until you arrive, even if you email ahead. The app and digital room key barely worked. No fireworks for the 4th of July. No butler service. Nothing special for our anniversary besides a banner. All the pools were heated (gross in July). Slow elevators with no A/C. Rooms are outdated, smelled like sewage in the bathroom, and the A/C wasn't cool enough at night. Uneven walkways everywhere--don't wear heels. We came here because YouTube made this place look amazing. Huge mistake. We've stayed at Secrets Maroma and this didn't even come close. Check-in was just okay. No champagne when we arrived. The Preferred lounge was nice, but the app was garbage. Just ask for a physical room key. Our "beach view" overlooked mostly a parking lot. The room was spacious but worn down. Shower door barely opened, mold in places, flashing smoke detector all night, bathroom smelled terrible, and the room got hot every night even with the A/C turned down. Room service took almost an hour every time. The Preferred infinity pool was the best part of the resort. Get there early because chairs fill up fast. Service there was excellent. But why are ALL the pools heated? It's already hot and humid outside. Restaurants were our biggest complaint. We stayed only 3 nights over the 4th of July and couldn't get a single reservation because you can't book until you arrive. Ember was decent with good service. Suki completely ruined our trip. We got there right when they opened but were forced to sit outside because they said every indoor table was reserved. Within minutes I was getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. I told them I'm allergic and asked to move inside. They refused, even though indoor tables stayed empty almost our entire meal because people never showed up. Management only apologized and wouldn't even remove one Japanese beer from our bill. They later said they would, but never did. That's what frustrated me the most--not the food, but how they handled the situation. The 4th of July beach party was another mess. We waited about 30 minutes just to get seated, then had to wait in another long buffet line. We left early. If you paid extra for reserved seating, you skipped the line. The Marketplace buffet was actually one of our favorite places. The Preferred Observatory restaurant also had the best breakfast and lunch. Coco Café had good coffee and cookies. Overall, this resort felt crowded and impersonal. Preferred really wasn't worth the extra money. Between the reservation issues, outdated rooms, heated pools, poor anniversary recognition, and how management handled our complaint, we won't be back. We'd stay at Secrets Maroma again without thinking twice.

The resort is quite large and shares an inclusive property with three other resorts which allows you to go on long bike rides, go golfing, go on nature walks or visit a variety of different restaurants easily and safely. The food and drinks are quite pricey, like Bora Bora where they have to import everything across an entire ocean pricey, but it is all very good. The seafood udon at Blue Agave was especially tasty. They do give you lots of nice perks in your room, wine, chocolates, little wooden figures with the folk stories about their importance in Mexican culture, which makes up for it a little bit since you get lots of little things to take home. There's so many things to do in the area which the concierge can help you set up, again they can be quite pricey but I found they were all good quality, just don't do anything that starts with "X" - which they try to steer you away from. Make sure you go to the "friends and family" event on Thursdays if you're there, free food and drinks and all the higher ups of the resort are there to get feedback or just hang out and chat. Also if you're there for a "Mexican grill" night it's a must-do the food, live music and beach dining was probably my favorite meal of our trip!

We would have to walk by a small snack area and bar everyday that we didn't have access to. Apparently there's a small private pool too but that's unnecessary. It's not worth it. Second, from 7am till about 6pm food is extremely limited. There's a buffet and an outdoor restaurant both of which are sub par. Also, from about the same time frame there's nothing to do in the resort. Your options are the pool, spend a bunch of money at the spa, or stay in your room. There's really no activities available outside of that. Also, the reservation system for restaurants sucks. If you don't make one in advance, you literally gamble on getting to eat what you want. You're on vacation and plans change but that means having to settle for less by their standards. Third, is the service. It's very sub par. They don't care to going above and beyond with accommodations or helping you with things. You get half answered questions and unclear responses. You supposedly get a concierge but unless you listen to their time share pitch, they won't help you. No, one seemed to be attentive or care about the experience. Restaurant workers and bar tenders are outstanding, so shout out to them. With that said we're not coming back and I recommend you doing your research on somewhere else.
