Beautiful hotel, very clean and modern. However, during the night everything was so loud. Below me there was always noises like someone was dropping large furniture, vacuuming, etc. Although the service was nice I would hear them in the halls early in the morning and it was so loud. I did not get good sleep here. The wifi for the rooms is not free! 14$ per night! Considering how much I'm paying per night for this room and that it is the year 2017 I think this is ridiculous. I was here on a work trip and could access the internet in my room to work on things. The food provided at the conference by the hotel tasted good, but I became nauseated after each meal and so did my colleague. The location is okay, not too far of a walk anywhere. If I were to do it over, i don't think my stay would have been any different at a less expensive hotel. read more

We stayed here last year for a funeral at Arlington Cemetary. Since it's a high end hotel, it's pretty nice. Georgetown was neat to walk around. It's at least a $15.00 cab ride to go anywhere fun towards the National Mall. Maybe less if you take Uber or Lyft. read more

Finding a place for high tea during the holiday season can be challenging. Most of the well-known, go-to places are booked months in advance. The Fairmont was a great choice for high tea mostly because they don't seem to widely advertise their tea service. The tea service takes place in the Fairmont's lobby area. There are couches and Queen Anne winged chairs situated around a coffee table for each party. The lobby overlooks a beautiful outdoor garden area and the setting is simply gorgeous. The Fairmont just released their holiday high tea menu (posted under my pictures), and the menu seems to change seasonally. The service was excellent and the staff was accommodating with dietary restrictions etc. You can purchase items ala carte or participate in the $40 high tea experience. Tea Service - The tea service is absolutely stunning. The Fairmont provided lovely individual teapots and accoutrements. We chose from a variety of their 18 loose tea selections - black, green, white, herbal, and wellness teas. Everyone at the table ordered something different from black tea to a berry-berry herbal tea, to a Montebello apple spice tea. I had the Montebella apple spice tea and I highly recommend it. It's an herbal decaf tea that tastes similar to chai and the Fairmont says it smells like apple pie. Not sure I noticed the smell, but it was quite delicious and a favorite among our group. I added a sugar cube and some cream but it really did not need the extra sugar. I should note that the honey was provided from the bees that live on the rooftop of the Fairmont - nice touch! One thing that was missing from the tea service is a tea cosy to keep the tea pot warm throughout the dining experience. The hot water can be replenished to maintain the tea temperature. A tea timer is provided for the various tea types. To start - The first course consisted of warm crumpets with honey bourbon butter, and fresh berries. I found the crumpet to be a bit dry. The berries and whipped cream were delicious. Scones - Next we had cinnamon spiced scones with Devonshire cream and house made preserves. The Fairmont has gone out of its way to find the best quality Devonshire cream. While they do purchase locally for most items as a way to support small businesses, their standards for the cream are high and they did not want to compromise on the quality. The women at my table raved about how decadent the cream was. I on the other hand, found it similar to how Crisco might taste. Savory Creations - We each received a three-tiered display to share among two people which contained 1) pimento cheese and spinach puffs - quite delicious, 2) ham, deviled egg salad, cranberries and pecans - okay, 3) smoked salmon, cucumber, and American caviar - the caviar was not a table favorite, 4) prosciutto, salami, manchego cheese, tomato and olive tapenade - this was the favorite item and everyone raved about it. I suggest substituting this sandwich for any item you might not like. Unfortunately, I was not able to try it because I had vegetarian substitutions and they did not include this sandwich sans meat. The vegetarian option included the pimento cheese and spinach puffs, two cucumber and tomato sandwiches which were just okay, and a mini olive and tomato salad. Sweets - each person received 1) milk chocolate caramel pot du crème - okay, 2) old fashioned Christmas Stollen - I liked this one the best, 3) ten layer chocolate cake - okay , 4) Chai tea donuts - a table favorite, 5) eggnog mousse cup - too sweet. Personally, I thought the desserts were mediocre. Extras - You can add alcohol - Moet Chandon or champagne paired with a caviar canapé for $18. They also provide a children's tea with scones, cucumber sandwiches, pigs in a blanket, peanut butter and jelly, vanilla shortbread, éclairs, and red velvet Madeline's for $20. There is also a doggie tea available and I did see a nicely dressed dog sitting on the couch enjoying his organic rice milk, house made turkey and pate, meatballs, and peanut butter cupcake for $10. The service was excellent and professional. The setup and ambiance were beautiful. The food was decent. I recommend making a reservation. Parking in the garage is $25 for three hours. There was plenty of 2-hr metered parking available. read more

Disgraceful!! I don't typically write reviews but could not let this pass. I travel extensively for business and have flown over a million miles so hopefully you will think my opinion valid. I have stayed at many, many hotels (of all types). For some time thought that the Fairmont chain of hotels was quite good. However my recent experience with the Fairmont in Washington D.C. has caused me to take them off my list and I will make sure to tell everyone of the terrible service I have received. We stayed for a few days and on the way home, realized that we left an iPad in the room. It was not "somewhere else" as was later implied to me. It was in the suitcase upon arrival, was used in the room and never left the room and did not return home with us - in other words.... stolen. I reported this to the Fairmont and received a call back stating that they checked the logs and only the housekeeper had been in the room and "she doesn't have it". I asked for the hotel manger to call me - which did not occur, so one week later I called again. I spoke with the head of security Mr. Glover who repeated to me that the room was checked and no iPad was found. I persisted, recanting the entire story, and that I was sure we left it there. His answer was "well what do you want me to do -it wasn't turned into security". Not only am I disappointed in the lack of diligence or concern but the general "oh well" attitude well below what I expected for a high end hotel. The iPad didn't evaporate - someone stole it. Other lesser chains and have had much better treatment and actually returned items but the Fairmont failed on every account including reasonableness and professionalism. read more

A nice, decent Fairmont. Newly refurbished, great West End/Georgetown location. The staff has been really friendly - great catering staff, great front desk staff, great business center staff, great reservations team, great A/V team. . . . the catering managers however are a little hit or miss. Nice, but a little scattered perhaps, and intensely focused on deadlines like no other hotel I've worked with. They were super accommodating with all of my millions of changes and last minute requests though, so the end results are high. The food has been decent, and as mentioned, because the catering staff is so fab, my team stayed happy. Even when they were being demanding little nightmares (and breaking the law), the staff stayed calm and friendly. I'm recommending them for sainthood. Maybe the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had (yes, I had two in one day, South Beach be damned). I had the best sandwich of my life on Thursday - a portobello mushroom/veggie/goat cheese number, which was totally not as good when I got it again on Friday. However, for those of you that typically shy away from crummy box lunch options, you don't need to worry about that here - they were some of the best I've had. Walls between rooms are super thin though- I can hear my upstairs neighbor peeing and dropping things on the tile floor in his bathroom, and the kids of my other neighbor yammering on well into the night and watching tv at a volume that can't possibly be good for them. Such is hotel life though, and all in all, I'd recommend this as a solid option for a meeting or event in DC. read more

My experience to fairmont was via wedding reception. So... as for pay... I didn't really pay just "experienced and enjoyed the royalties" that Fairmont had to offer. Located a walk from Georgetown so you can't beat that. As for a place to have a wedding reception... I have no idea how much the host paid but there was a time where i was totally confused where i was... I was thinking am I in Hawaii? NYC? oh wait i"m in DC due to it's upscaleness. THe staff was very friendly from trying to open everybody's doors, oderbs, gladly serving up alcohol... and the host... doing their best to make the guest happy. ie. friend was walking unsteady secondary to intoxication and the hostess came and politely offered glasses of water for my friend. The courses were really spaced out... (i guess they gave us time to drink). The bathrooms were awesome!!! (the ones in the hallway not the room) ( had cotton towels with mouth wash all supplied)... ok... I guess now it shows I usually stay at the level of holiday inn express so.. I attended an all-day retreat at this classy hotel. The service was great! The muffin, muesli, yellow watermelon, and chive cream cheese were great as was their signature tea selection. The lunch was also yummy - with fajitas, shrimp, and other such things. Best was the happy hour afterwards with mojitos and sugar cane sticks, peking duck, mushroom stuffed dumplings, and tuna tartare on the outdoor patio filled with impatiens. I enjoyed the ambiance. But, I am sure this came at a great cost. read more

As a wedding planner, I love this hotel! I've never personally stayed in it, but the catering services are lovely. Their little 'rotunda' room is beautiful and unique for a ceremony 'in the round'. Their lower-level ballroom space is really expansive, too, if you have a couple hundred guests to throw a party for. Of course being a Fairmont property, the food and service are top-notch. Good business location, not *the* best tourist location, though it is within a 15 minute walk to the Foggy Bottom Metro, and is close to Penna Ave and the 30 buses. Booked a two night stay for my husbands 40th. We live in the area but I wanted to have a little staycation to observe his big day. The customer service at this hotel is PERFECTION. It surpassed all of my expectations. I was in constant communication with reservations as I booked in advance and we are expecting our baby any day now. They assured me that if the baby would come before the stay that I could cancel without penalty. Our room was large and clean. Room service is a bit pricey but totally worth it. Every single employee at this hotel smiles and tries to be super accommodating. Really enjoyed our staycation and we will definitely be coming back. read more

We got into the Fairmont at a very good rate via Hotwire, which has it as a 4-star hotel. Each of these stars is earned, as far as I'm concerned. I very much appreciated the gracious service, the speedy elevators, the well-equipped gym, and 50-foot lap pool. Little things made all the difference: robes in the room, large feather pillows, good air conditioning, thick walls and floors that kept all noise but the hallways unnoticeable, great water pressure in the showers. The TVs were flat screens, but of the older variety. Nevertheless, we were very comfortable. read more

Our organization held a conference in DC and put up our conference guests at the Fairmont. The hotel rooms were very nice, breakfast at the Juniper was superb, and the location was great for out-of-town visitors (short walk to Dupont Circle and Georgetown). HOWEVER, I was VERY underwhelmed by the hotel staff's customer service--particularly the front desk and conference services staff. In customer service, I expect friendliness and a can-do attitude, but instead encountered front desk personnel with attitudes of indifference and "I-don't-have-time-for-your-silly-request." Even more frustrating was that our conference services contact was hardly ever available and did not seem to communicate our contract specifications or group needs to other staff. Perhaps the hotel staff is jaded by having to deal with one-too many entitled and demanding businessmen and government types on a daily basis, however that's no excuse for making your guests feel not taken care of. read more

I was visiting Washington DC on a business trip this week and had to check out from Fairmont around 1:30am and two hours after checking in. It is particularly disappointing since I used to live in the West End/Georgetown neighborhood for more than 7 years until one year ago and even used the Fairmont pool facility while I was living in DC. I chose to stay in Fairmont because of my communal connection. I reported the noise problem in my room around the midnight, which was confirmed by the Fairmont staff 20 minutes later and caused by the elevator near my room which was making the continuous, heavy motor noise. Mr. Jefferson Simplice from the front desk then called me, offering no apologies, and told me that the only option would be to offer me some earplugs and change me another room next day because the hotel was sold out. He insisted that earplugs were the only option after I indicated they would not work for me given the cyclic, strong motor noise and that I would not be able to sleep and/or stay in the room for the night. When I proceeded to the front desk to check out, Mr. Simplice presented me with a bill of $262.21 with no apologies at all. When I asked what this was for, he said that it was me who chose to leave and that it was for room and taxes even though I received little services but hassle at that point. I asked to speak to the general manager, and he simply replied that he was the manager (based on the business card he gave me just before I left the hotel, he was a night manager) and there was no one else to speak to. He eventually took off the charges from my credit card. However, when I indicated that I would want to talk to the manager and showed the receipt he GRABed the invoice with room charges from me and torn and tossed it immediately, and told me that the refund paper was my only receipt. I eventually found a hotel to stay around 2am that night with two suitcases in hand in a town where many hotels were booked out. I am appalled by the rudeness and snobbishness, not to mention lack of services in Fairmont, and saddened that this happened in a neighborhood I take pride and ownership (I still owned my condo in Georgetown) and in Fairmont that I used to be fond of. I reported the incident by email to the general manager using his contact on my refund receipt 4 days ago and have got no response. read more

Mainly booked this hotel for the Chocolate Brunch @ The Colonnade. Service here was friendly. There is a concierge to answer all your questions for those who are just visiting. There was a sign up that said we could book MLB games here (Nationals vs Brewers) for $45 along the 1st base line. They were kind enough to tell us that it cost no more at the stadium and there were plenty of seating if we were to change our minds. To the right of the concierge is some water with lemon in it. Perpendicular to that on your right was the check-in desk. The decor is a bit outdated and is ideal for baby boomers. The rooms were sufficient, although we had to ask for shampoo. There was a coffee maker and dryer in the room at least. The water pressure was good and there were plenty of towels to go around. Don't expect any plasmas though. We had a modest 13" tube tv with cable service. I saw a 4 star diamond award plaque against the wall. I would say that's pretty accurate. At $199/night, it's not bad if you want peace and quiet. Although for $35/night more, you can stay at the Mandarin for a more upbeat nightlife. The room service menu pricing was RIDICULOUS though. Something along the lines of $24 for Eggs Benedict. Do yourself and stay here in D.C.. This Fairmont is head and shoulders above the Ritz in D.C.. It also helped that we got a really good rate and free upgrade to the club level but even still, it was a great stay and the lobby bar was one of the better ones Ive been to. We stayed at the Fairmont-DC for 7 nights. 2 adults and 1 child. Location: 5 stars. Very close to Mall activities and Georgetown. Easy walking distance to White House. The Metro is only 3 short blocks away. In the future, I would stay here, or the Four Seasons - Georgetown, or the Ritz Carlton which is 1 block away. Great area -- so much better than downtown. Property: 3 and 3/4 stars. We stayed on the 9th Floor (Gold) and that was the saving grace. Wonderful, professional, and attentive staff. Wonderful food and beverage offerings throughout the day. We changed rooms upon arrival and had a few problems with house-keeping. The room and bathroom were just not as clean as I would have liked, but I purchased some Clorox wipes and contacted the Gold staff and things got better. If you are accustomed to staying at the RC or Four Seasons (But are looking to save a few bucks), then choose the Gold 9th floor at the Fairmont. If not, then go with RC and FS. Again, the Fairmont's proximity to the restaurants and nightlife in Georgetown is stellar. The Gold floor staff is amazing. Gold Floor guests also have access to a complimentary car service-- it will take you anywhere in the City. Staff: The 9th floor Gold Staff was top-notch and friendly. Everyone was accommodating and helpful. The Gold lounge was gorgeous. An excellent respite after sightseeing all day. Overall: A great property for higher end travelers if you stay on the Gold Floor. Great concierge service for restaurants and spas. read more

This is a beautiful hotel at a reasonable price. The rooms are clean, comfortable and pretty. Nice bathroom as well. My only complaint is there is no free Wifi? Even hotels in the ghetto offer that! There is a nicely stocked bar, but good luck finding a bottle opener. So if you bring your own and be prepared Togo over your data, it's an awesome place to stay! Ok...I am a cheapskate who came down and hung out with my sister who was in for work...so knowing that, I still don't get why someone would go to this beautiful hotel when you can stay at a cheaper place and get more for your buck. Parking overnight is $40. Wifi is $15 per day. There is no continental breakfast and they say there is a charge for the pool. Now the room amenities are nice and the room was well appointed. It was convenient to the Metro. The lobby is nice, but the courtyard had a bee problem around the fountain. The staff were helpful and friendly. I still think I would go to a cheaper chain to get more for my buck...well when I am the one paying. read more

Great location that is a short walking distance to Georgetown area. Beautiful hotel with very courteous and accommodating staff. The best part - everything in this hotel smells heavenly! As soon as you walk into the lobby the smell (gardenia maybe?) is so relaxing it made me feel like i was in a spa. I would definitely stay here again. We stayed there about a month ago for a long weekend. The staff was PHENOMENAL and the hotel beautiful. The location is great. About 3 blocks from the subway, got us to the Mall in about 10 minutes, and a quick 5 minute walk to Georgetown. Concierge staff was great. I stayed here for a night when I was in town for a job interview- service was great and the hotel is very centrally located to Georgetown. I called the hotel since I had come to town early and they let me do early check in at 11 am. On top of that, because I was busy in an all day interview the next day, they let me keep the room until 4 PM at no extra charge! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the amenities were great, and there's lots of cute restaurants and coffee shops. Would recommend joining the President's Club to get loyalty points and free access to their health spa. Overall, great experience and would love to come back and stay here again! read more

We really loved our stay here with the large rooms and beautiful decor. Everyone on the staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, really going out of the way to be helpful. Some nice little perks were the free NY times and in room Keurig. The late 1 pm checkout is great as well but the daily parking rate is a bit expensive at $51 per day. The location is pretty amazing with just a fifteen to 20 minute walk to Georgetown and within two miles of the National Mall (or about an 8 minute walk to the Metro). read more

My husband and I enjoyed the impeccably fast, courteous service we received when requesting anything from a taxi, towels, or restaurant recommendations. Very impressed with this hotel! The lobby/lounge area is one of the best features. On Friday night we sat in the lounge and listened to a live pianist and had dessert served to us from the waiters manning the lounge area. All while looking over their courtyard complete with twinkle lights. The entire hotel smells like fresh flowers and reminds me of the smell of the Bellagio in Las Vegas' greenhouse. So pleasant, almost spa-like. When I stayed, it was raining, so the hotel gave me an umbrella to use for the day. So helpful and unexpected. Finally, the La Labo bath products are to die for. They are only sold at select high end retailers but the scent Rose 31 was specifically created for the Fairmont hotel and is amazing. Definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again when in the DC area. read more

I was here for a conference and enjoyed my stay. Beautiful hotel and I barely noticed the renovations. Also surprising is how this upscale hotel is family friendly- crib, diaper genie, fridge, baby toiletry pack with a toy all waiting in room. And total silence too! The bed was wonderful. Bathroom was spacious. Housekeeping, concierge and bell staff were lovely. A couple of things to improve-hotter water (but I am weird like that) and paper coffee cups. even though I washed the mugs with my dishsoap, still weird. Great location too! Was a great venue, horrible service. I was part of a wedding, and we left our belongings in the Groomsmen's room. I left a $200 pair of Oakleys in my groomsmen bag (the presents they gave us for being in the wedding) Went up to his room while housekeeping was in there with the guy that was on duty who oversees housekeeping. The nice cleaning lady said "Oh yes! I found those sunglasses and sent them down to our Lost and Found" At that point, I'm happy I didn't lose my glasses or the groomsmen bag. He said, stay here while I go check our Lost and Found and check with security. Comes back to tell me that "the sunglasses are in transit and haven't arrived at Lost and Found. I gave them my cell phone number, and to let me know when they found them since I had to attend and post wedding day brunch around the corner. Well they never found the sunglasses after the lady said she had them. They said the best they could do was credit me $100 back for my 2 night stay. Bottom line, those things were stolen, but at least make me feel better about and credit me back the same amount, or maybe more so I feel like I came out a little ahead. Bad Service, told me some more lies about how they were probably in the garbage and they sifted through the garbage but it had already been compacted... Just tell me the truth, and credit me the amount back. FYI, they also lost a groomsmens tux sunday morning, and then said they found it and "returned it to him" when he got home it was some other random guys suit that was marked for laundry. He got charged for losing his tux and some poor guy didnt have a suit for whatever occasion he was there for. read more

This hotel is great. The staff is very friendly. Everyone who works there always greets you with a warm welcome and they make you feel very comfortable. They have a huge gym and a great pool/hot tub. The only con was that the pillows were uncomfortable. I had a great experience there! read more

As my boyfriend said below, way better than the ritz. wish we hadnt switched! came here for the 4th of July, and got the free upgrade to club level, just a great overall experience, and the bartenders were also super friendly!
