I bought a medium ice cream in a cup, and split it between 2 flavors. The hubby bought the same, but dipped in chocolate with a waffle cone. Mine was around $5, his was around $10. While it was absolutely delicious and the portions are large, unless if you get a plain ole cup you WILL be paying a premium for the toppings/cones/any extras. This place is flat out terrible! I don't see what all the hype is about. First off, it's Fairmount and finding a parking space is nearly impossible. Second the ice cream is not that good. We arrived around 9:30 and their open until midnight. They were out of the majority of flavors. We went with a coffee and an Oreo. The coffee was flavored okay I guess. The Oreo was literally freezer burnt. Right in the trash that went. The portions are large but that isn't always a good thing. I'd much rather have quality over quantity. We ordered smalls and they were obnoxiously large. Their prices are a bit high as well. Another thing is it takes forever to get your ice cream. The last place we visited on our first day in Philly was a delight. After a long day of walking around the city, we wanted water ice and this place was close to our Airbnb. I had water ice at one other place(review incoming) while in Philly. Although Philly Flavors wasn't my favorite, it's definitely worth the cheap price. Philly Flavors fits into the neighborhood. There are 2 shops next to each other. I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind that, but it seems to work. You can also get ice cream here, but each time I opted for water ice. The first time I ordered the orange cream flavor and the second time I tried the watermelon flavor. The ice here seemed to have more sugar than expected. The medium orange cream was a bit too much. I couldn't get enough of the watermelon flavor so maybe the sugar enhances some of the flavors. It was interesting to see that they have late hours. There are plenty of people in the area throughout the day, but I was surprised to see the late hours. I'm sure the locals frequent this place ALL THE TIME! Wow this location was out of business for a little bit & personally it can go back out of business because the service was so bad. You had two girls with an attitude problem and a guy who looked higher than my student loan payments. If I'm paying this much for ice cream I want at least good service. I really hope these are temp workers because if not you all have a problem on your hands. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth which is unfortunate because I really used to love this place. I'm really just shocked how bad the service was I can't even continue to express that. I was really craving a gelati so I stopped by Philly Flavors to give them a try for the first time. The service is great and extremely quick too - not only that, but the serving size is super big, my partner and I each got a small but we really should have just split one. I got the orange creamsicle water ice with vanilla custard and my partner got black raspberry ice with vanilla custard. The custard was incredible, super creamy and delicious and exactly what we wanted. Unfortunately though the ice fell through for us - we felt that the flavors were kind of muted? I understand for the orange creamsicle, maybe that's just how it is because it's already a more subtle flavor, but we expected the black raspberry to be nice and tart and bright. The ice just kind of really wasn't that great for us. Overall though we might give it a try again just to see if it just happened to be the two flavors we got. Next time we might also just try their ice cream or soft serve, as the custard certainly didn't disappoint. Their menu has an insane selection with tons of flavors, so there truly is something for everyone. Overall I think there are better places to get gelati in the city but if you want something super cheap and super huge, Philly Flavors is the place to stop by. read more

Stopped by here after the haunted house tour in the Eastern State Penitentiary just a block away. I was very happy I got to try their water ice! Especially the passion fruit flavor was really delicious. Its bit more finely grained than our usual shaved ices and Slurpee but not so watery that you're drinking it. If you're a fan of more icee side of the cold treats I would highly recommend this place. The ice creams portions are large as well so you definitely get your money's worth. They allow up to 2-3 different flavors of the water ice depending on the size you get, I definitely think a medium cup is enough for a single person. I got so much brain freeze while eating it but its so good just couldn't stop it. Its definitely a grab and go kind of place as there's only about seating for dozen people or so. Not surprisingly, the line was almost out the door this past Sunday evening after the Fairmount Arts crawl. I opted for the shorter line which was the storefront to the right. I totally forgot this storefront didn't have the big menu. Not knowing what I was going to order, I made the switch to the other building with the menu so I could weigh my options while I waited online. It took a few minutes for me to place my order then another few minutes to get my ice cream. I opted for the kid's sized fat free maple walnut yogurt. Although it was probably just a few minutes, it felt like an eternity before I got my dessert. During the time, I got to thinking how silly it was to have paid almost $4 for a kids sized treat and got to wondering why the other storefront didn't have a large menu that could be viewed while waiting. I was almost frustrated with my choice of stopping at Philly Flavors. The moment I got my yogurt, those negative feelings instantly melted away. The maple walnut was heaven in a cup! I still have no idea how this stuff is fat free but it was so delicious I didn't even care. My concern about the price of a kid's yogurt was now moot after seeing what a large portion it actually was. The yogurt really tasted like maple and there were actual pieces of walnut throughout the entire cup. I walked home on cloud nine enjoying my perfect dessert on a gorgeous spring evening. I love Philly Flavors! My favorite part about this place is the variety of sugar-free flavors of water ice. When a person is diabetic or has blood sugar problems, it helps to have sugar-free water ice and on top of it they have more than one flavor! Most places you'd be lucky just to have one flavor. They also have "sugar-free" ice cream as well, which is truly no sugar added (I hope), but the fact that they have these options is awesome. Sometimes there is a line so I just go in the next store front then I don't have to wait. The portions are huge, so a kids size or a small is just right. I love the vanilla and chocolate twist pictured below, (sorry that isn't sugar-free). I end up here on a fairly regular basis because its the only ice cream option in Fairmount and I love ice cream. It's not bad, but if I had another option, I would probably never return here again. On warmer evenings, its always packed, especially on the weekends. The service is fine and I like the peanut butter cup hard ice cream that I have had. I am always tempted by the soft serve though, like I was last night. However, it's really not the best soft serve at all (the chocolate is borderline not good and its much more icy than creamy) and the portions are HUGE. Look at the picture I posted for the "child's size"!! It was way too much ice cream, but I enjoy that you can get it covered in rainbow sprinkles or chocolate dipped, which is really my favorite thing about this place. There are two sides to the place, one has three or four tables to sit at and the other side is just standing room for ordering and pick up. There are a couple of small tables outside but they always seem to be dirty... Ive tried a number of different options. My go to is cookie dough ice cream. Tonight I had a cookie sandwich. He argued with me, rolled his eyes and stormed into the back where I could here him fussing over a simple fix that, in my opinion, I asked very politefully and calmly. He was rude, arrogant, unwelcoming and this is the 4th or 5th time I have had the same experience with this individual. The manager should look at the security tapes to see how he handles himself. Delicious! My kids and I were driving by and decide to try it. We love homemade ice cream and water ice. It took 15 minutes to find a parking spot. My son ordered a kid's sundae, my daughter wanted the the cherry water ice, and I had the cherry vanilla ice cream. No complaint! The water ice was juicy and filled with bits of cherry. The kid's sundae was amazing. You get one topping, ice cream, whip cream and a cherry on top. It was definitely worth it. I can't imagine how big a normal size would be. My one scoop of cherry vanilla ice cream filled the whole bowl. It was sweet and very creamy. I truly believe that we will go back to try other flavors on the menu, which is very extensive. The kids are looking forward to trying the custard too! There is definitely a flavor for everyone. A simple soft serve cone was inexplicably $7. Average tasting soft serve on an average waffle cone. I can't wrap my head around these prices and the only possible explanation is that they're the only ice cream place in the area (that I know of). The service is horrible and not a single person behind the counter is remotely friendly. And to top it off, it's cash only (so annoying) and the ATM is always broken. Terrible establishment. Such a shame because it's such a great neighborhood location. Hopefully someone else opens a better ice cream place soon.
