However we weren't too disappointed as we saw Denali the day before on a beautiful clear day while on the road. We stayed in a building below the main lodge. A very short walk. Had to kill two mosquitoes in our room. Talkeetna is actually closer to Denali than Denali Park Village. The property is very nice but our stay very brief. As with Denali Park Village, there's a Northern Lights notification system you can participate in with the front desk. Alas no such luck for us that night. There's a coffee bar and a sit down restaurant. A massive fireplace anchors the hotel lobby. We ate at the Bistro at the lodge twice - dinner and breakfast as our time was brief. There's a hotel courtesy shuttle into town. The last one at 9:45pm. On display is an Alaskan brown bear shot by a 10 year old.

This is a great place to stay in Talkeetna. The lodge is beautiful and has the best view of Denali…read more(on a clear day, of course). The lodge itself is beautiful with a big open entry with a stone fireplace. There is plenty of seating so you can enjoy the view, warm up by the fire or play games at a table with friends and family. There are water refilling stations, ice machines, laundry machines. We enjoyed the trails around the lodge, which were well maintained. We took advantage of the free shuttle to town that arrives every 30 minutes. The rooms are fine. The couch was pretty torn up and there is no air conditioning- which we didn't need in September. The train does come through around 4:40 AM and wakes you up. Service is friendly enough but nothing special. Food options are decent. We really liked the halibut Reuben at the restaurant.

They had great, fresh, hot food and real, legit, espresso coffee! In Trapper Creek of all places! The girls that worked here were upbeat and full of sass, just what I needed after an exhausting day of being up all the time in the midnight sun. Like many places in Alaska, I think they are also an "Inn"...and not in name only. Seems the state is littered with places with "Inn" or "Lodge" in the name that don't *appear* to offer rooms but...you'll find if you ask around, they actually do! If you're going to/from Denali, this place is definitely worth a stop to recharge your batteries and put some gas in your tank. This is local flavor you won't want to miss!

It has a small menu of burgers and things along those lines and the kids were able to find something as well. I believe they are mainly known for their burgers as they make their patties fresh and have a good taste with the spices they add. My burger happened to be a bit over done but I don't remember saying how I wanted it cooked so they may "default" to cooking them well done unless otherwise mentioned. Everyone I was with was happy with their meals and there is the ice cream to finish it off. One thing I would suggest is that you might want to leave you jacket in the car as it will smell like the "kitchen" when you leave, not a bad thing just a tip! I should also mention that the ladies working in the kitchen and taking your orders were very fun and friendly, a nice touch to a local spot.

The room was spacious, very clean, and came with lots of amenities. They had a table and chairs in the room that had an amazing view. They also had a fridge, a coffee machine in the room, creamer, a microwave (I believe), and a shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispenser in the shower. I also really like that they had a built in shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispenser rather that the sample bottles that you throw away and end up in a landfill. We unfortunately came during a heat wave about a week ago so we didn't use the hot tub or sauna, although I am sure that those staying here will enjoy them since the climate is normally much cooler and perfect for these types of things. The deck is amazing and has great views, along with lots of tables and chairs so that you can relax and take in the view! Tom and the staff were very hospitable and I highly recommend staying here. The breakfast was delicious. They had pancakes with birch syrup, bacon, and scrambled eggs. They made sure to ask if we had any allergies or dietary restrictions the night before and were very accommodating throughout our entire stay here.

We were originally going to go straight to Healy but friends convinced me that we needed to stay one night in Talkeetna. And if was a great idea because it's a cute town with a fair amount of restaurants, things to do and shops. So at the last minute I searched high and low and finally found that this place had a room available. And I'm so glad that I booked it! I was a little nervous because we'd have to share a bathroom and I wasn't sure how clean those would be and there weren't many reviews for this place. Well the lodge was awesome. It is kind of set up like a hostel/college dorm situation. There is a shared kitchen on the first floor and then a bunch of rooms that are divided between the first and second floors. The rooms range from simple rooms with just one or two beds where you have to share bathrooms to bigger rooms that had its own private bathroom. We opted to do that shared bathroom thing and it worked out well. The other guests were mindful and pretty quiet the night that we stayed. One thing to be cautious about is that the walls are pretty thin so if you do have loud or inconsiderate folks on the same floor then you may feel disturbed. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable and I was happy to see that. In fact the whole house was really clean and part of this is because you are to remove your shoes when you enter into the building. There is a nice mudroom when you walk in where you can leave your shoes and then wear slippers or socks throughout the rest of the house, this just kept everything really clean and felt really cozy. The rooms were plain and simple, just the bed, nightstand, armoire, and no TV. but that was OK because we just wanted something clean and comfortable for the one night that we were there. You're in Talkeetna to enjoy the outdoors so there's really no reason to spend a lot of time in the room anyways. The owner of the lodge is a very sweet accommodating woman and she leaves every day at 9 PM. If you arrive after that time she will leave the key with your name on the table and this worked out really well for us. We really enjoyed our stay here!
