Bob Liu replaced our FRONT LOADER LG washer Gasket. You will note comments are all over the board so let me clarify from my standpoint. Finding someone who does good work, is knowledgeable about appliances and responsive is difficult to find. Bob is straightforward, works fast, focuses on his work and is neat. He cleans up after completing the job. Labor cost is a variable and usually based on the the job. Many times the manufacturer sets a labor cost for installing a part. What do you prefer $150 labor charge for someone that takes an hour vs. $150 for someone that is efficient, knows his stuff and charges $150 and get the work done in 45 minutes. I prefer the person that knows his stuff and gets it right according to the manufacturers specs, no short cuts. The is how car repairs are done at dealers. Shop around if you want I believe the price quoted will be for the job unless they have to spend considerable time diagnosing. If you can determine the problem ahead of time it will save you some money in determining the upfront labor and parts cost. He was responsive to me in a timely manner. I was able to send pictures via text to work out everything ahead of time. He gave me an estimated date the part will arrive and when he could install it. All was done as scheduled. Parts are expensive these days especially LG parts; therefore, if concerned ask for a breakdown of parts vs. labor. Expensive parts sometimes distort the perceived cost of the installation. Some parts seem basic but require connecting a number of hoses so one similar machine may require more effort because of the complexity of the connections. In this day and age best to ask for the genuine manufacturer replacement parts. Generics might be ok but I find in many cases they will be unreliable. He takes credit cards and uses Zelle (my preferred method of payment). Bob is worth a consideration for repairing your appliances. He is also listed on the LG site as a certified LG technician. read more

We called this repair service to come to our residence to inspect and assess our dryer whichwas not working properly. The techinician told us that he charges $65.00 to do in-home service. The technician came to our home and looked at our washer and dryer and gave us some good advice on how to maintain our washer. He looked at our dryer and asked us what it was doing. We told him that the unit would start and run, but it would not heat/dry our clothing. The technician asked us where our exhaust was located and we took him outside to where our dryer exhaust is located. He told us to remove the exhaust grate and inspect it. My wife pulled the grate and found that the grate was full with approximately a 1' thick pile of lint. We removed the lint, activated the dryer and it worked perfectly. The technician, after doing nothing, charged us $65.00 for his house call. Really? Unbelievable. The technician could have told us this information over the phone and we could have done our the troubleshooting via the phone call. But No!!!! He decided to come out to make the quick $65.00. I must admit, I don't trust car mechanics, plumbers, electricians, and other repair people. Many (too many) are unscrupulous. I'm sure we can all attest to experiencing some sort of shenanigans. My microwave that I've had for years, the control panel began to flicker and not respond. I almost went out and bought a new one, but out of curiosity I thought to see how much it would be to repair. It's a mom and pop place, unassuming and a bit hard to find in the strip mall. The shop is filled to the brim with broken electronics, TV, vacuums, microwaves, everything, waiting to be fixed. There's an inspection fee, which is used against repairs if you decide to go with them. I got a estimate a day later for 1/3 of the price of a new one and went with them. Needed a new part, board was going bad. However, as it turns out, while they were testing it over and over again, it really needed two parts. They happened to have a spare lying around and installed it, no extra charge. Once I got over my suspicion, the lady turned out to be a down to earth, a real person. After having a local repairman come check out my refrigerator, I learned that my compressor was still under warranty, but it would take very long for LG to authorize the parts to an unauthorized LG technician. I had a really great quote for labor, but couldn't wait the 6-10 business days estimated. LG gave me the names of 3 authorized technicians in the area and I immediately came to Yelp to read reviews. The first one had horrible reviews from everyone and a 1-star rating. Then I checked out Fairway Electronics and saw all the great reviews so decided to give Bob a call. Just as I read from others, he was quick to get back to me and gave me an estimated time to come repair my refrigerator within 24 hrs. A big reason for that is that he keeps a good inventory of parts, including everything I needed. The quote was a bit higher than my previous quote but, with a fridge out, I found it worth it to pay a premium to get it fixed quickly. Like many others that reviewed Fairway Repair, I have an LG fridge that had the compressor go out. A common issue, but that's another review. I read horror stories of people with LG fridges waiting a month for repair, of parts being on back order and unavailable, and horrible service from LG contracted repair services. The first LG warranty repair company I was referred to initially answered the phone, then after that I could not get in contact with them. I dodged a bullet because when I called the second company, Fairway Repair, Bob answered right away and had me text him the make, model, and serial number, and proof of purchase, and within an hour he had ordered the parts. This was a Tuesday or Wednesday, and by Friday he had the parts and could do the repair Saturday. Amazing! Unfortunately, we were going to be out of town until the following Tuesday, yesterday. He came today, arrived at the beginning of our service window, fixed our fridge, and said it should be all right from now on. Awesome service, competitive labor rate, and my wife, who was home at the time, said that Bob is a really nice man. Thank you Bob, and Fairway Repair. Last week my Vizio 47" smart t.v. lost picture - we were still getting the audio, but just a dark screen with no visual. I did some research online and found that it's a fairly typical problem, usually a dead t-com or mother board. Due to these televisions running pretty high price tags, I figured it would be worth trying a repair before replacing it. I looked here for help and found this repair shop near my house - it helped that they have gotten great reviews, some of which talked about my exact issue. They will do house calls, which is great to know, but in the sake of time I brought my t.v. directly to the shop. They called me the next morning regarding the diagnosis (it needed a new mother board), ordered the part, and had it back to me in just over a day. Bob and the staff there were so nice and helpful - not only were they up front about the cost and such, but he made sure to check in with me periodically regarding the status. I'm not sure how he gets so much work done so quickly, but they made me feel like I was a top priority. Price was very reasonable - they charged me $40 for the diagnosis, but when you agree to have them fix it they will put that money towards the total repair cost. Ended up paying about $295 total. I have an LG fridge that after only three years blew its compressor. LG...that's pathetic. Called warranty service and was told to wait five days [over 100 degrees outside]. They suggested I call Fairway to see if they had an opening. I did. They did not. But within an hour Bob called back and told me he had some time, he'd be over in 1 hour. He was. He installed the new compressor and saved my food and my trip out of town two hours later. His service was to say the least punctual and in addition competent!! Somehow the LCD screen on my camcorder had busted from the inside and part of the screen was black with ink or something. Check in all items you bring them (case, extra batteries, cords, etc.) so you're sure to get them back. $18 to diagnose the problem and that goes towards the repair if you have them do it. My smart TV suffered an issue with an firmware update which resulted in leaving the systems menu and dialog windows inoperable. There was no way to reset or fix the issue my self. The diagnostic price was reasonably well priced. The final repair bill was at around three hundred. Quite pricy but definitely a result of the product issue. Next time I buy a TV I will buy at least a 5 year warranty. Will I go back to this place, sure. read more

About three weeks ago, my 2.5 year old LG, side by side refrigerator started warming up. I called the LG service center and they didn't offer much help and I was on hold for a long time. The Smart Diagnosis system build into the fridge was useless in my case. They either didn't know how to use it or for some reason reluctant to do so. This is a system that is supposed to send some info over the phone line to the service center so they can download some info to determine what could be malfunctioning. It was not used at all. Another technician came out and said it was the motherboard. I didn't trust his opinion and decided to get a second opinion. Bob was recommended by LG service center along with 5 other companies who all had poor ratings on Yelp except Fariway. Bob came out and noticed a leak in the system. He suggested to replace the compressor, condenser coil and two other parts that could be the source of the leak. They were all under warranty. He came back two days later with the new parts and spend over two hours to replce the old ones. He even charged the system after his first visit so the fridge could hold up for couple of more days until repairs were done. The fridge has been working perfectly since then. Called the guy to fix my stove and help install my dryer duct, and was told to text him my address. I did, and no response. Called two days later, and the guy came, and told me that it cost $220 to fix the stove, and $70 to install the dryer duct. Tried to negotiate the price, and was told that it was not easy for him to drive a big car even though his store was only two blocks away from my house and he said he didn't like to work for Chinese. Since I bought the part from Home Depot, it end up with $60 for him to install the dryer duct. It took him 30 seconds to do the work. So I was watching a movie on my 47 in LG LED tv and all of a sudden the screen goes black.. Googled the issue and it appears that the mother board was out...I'm not the type that will take the time to watch a do-it yourself tutorial on youtube, buy a soldering kit, and try to fix the issue myself... Our LG refrigerator died and Fairway is an authorized LG repair station. The refrigerator is 6 years old so some parts are under warranty but not covered for labor so there would be a service charge. I was pleasantly surprised that they had a very reasonable service charge . The technician came out on the first business day we called (Monday) and showed up when he said he would. He diagnosed our problem as a bad compressor (the fridge was only 6 years old, boo on LG) and because the compressor was covered under the warranty but the labor wasn't it would cost us $. I checked around later and that is a very reasonable cost for the labor, but he had to order the part from LG. Unfortunately even though LG has a warehouse near us we still had to wait for shipping (not Fairway Repair's fault) and we had to wait a couple of days for the part but as soon as it came in (two days later) the the technician contacted us and was back to replace the compressor at the time he said he would be. Unfortunately after the compressor was replaced the refrigerator still didn"t cool so we called Fairway back and he came back the very next day, again on time, and it turned out that the electronic board was also bad, the bad compressor probably damaged the board, the technician ordered the part and he was back in a couple of days again on time with the new board. Oops a separate part the capacitor was also bad, so again another order from LG another couple of days but as soon as he got the part he was back to install the capacitor. Here's the great thing, even though he had to come back several extra times and I don't think it was his fault that these bad parts only became apparent after subsequent bad parts were replaced he never asked for money for the additional installations and service calls. Now that's a great company. . Here's the deal, this company is extremely trustworthy and dependable. They don't nickle and dime you, They come out promptly and do a great job. Even though more parts were required he didn't charge us extra to install them. He even texted me today to be sure the refrigerator was working properly, he seemed to really care. 5 stars for Fairway Repair 0 stars for LG. read more
