Of the three companies I was considering, Ace Appliance was the only one open on Saturday. I called and left a message to find out their diagnostic fee and availability. I got a call back within a few minutes. Diagnostic fee of $30 sounded reasonable and he could be here the same day. Great! Don arrived in the time frame promised. He listened to my dryer and right away had an idea of the problem. The dryer was disassembled within minutes and after some inspection, we were told two rear rollers, pulley, idler and shift needed replacement. My Samsung front load washer broke 10 days after my son was born and those of you who have kids know that newborns generate a lot of laundry. After battling my warranty company and their contracted repair services for nearly 2 months we still didn't have a working washer. The most recent "repair" from the warranty company's repair service left most of my sons clothes trapped in the washer and the other place said it would be a week before they could sent a tech to get them out and longer for the repair. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I had to take matters into my own hands and called Ace. They were able to send Don out within hours of my call!!! He opened my machine, tried a few simple repairs, then determined that a more in depth wiring solution was needed. Realizing that I already had significant money tied up in my warranty, Don worked out a temporary solution so that I could get by until the warranty company gets their act together. He charged me a minimum service fee for opening the door and that was that. I appreciate Don's approach, honesty, empathy and understanding of the situation. This is edited due to owner response. The place was fast when they are willing to come out but the owner gave a visit range of 3-4 hours which I think I ridiculous. The owner came and told me the refrigerator condenser was broken and told me to call Lg to warranty and they only warranty the parts so I had to get ace to install it. The owner said he has a part available and I was lucky he has it so I don't have to wait. This is expected considering lg going through a class action lawsuit. So just labor alone is $650 and he couldn't do it that day and had to send someone else to do it. My guess is either he didn't know how to do it or just wasn't prepared to do it considering how often this refrigerator broken. My "review" to me is the labor was high consider the technician which actually fix it the next day was only here for 1 hour from start to finish. The guy said $50 for the initial going out there and would be credited for the job. The job was done but price was too high to me considering how long it takes. He did tell me it better to buy a new appliance better but I didn't want to buy another refrigerator around 1800-2500 at that time. He responded after but doesn't change the fact $650 for one hour of work is on the high side for me. I didn't leave one star so it technically average. read more

Honest appliance repairs are hard to find these days. I called a major repair company and they wanted to charge me $80.00 dollars just to came and "see" what was wrong with my washing machine. Our fridge stopped making ice and wasn't getting cold enough. It was only 2 years old. He spent maybe 20 minutes and found there was a buildup of ice in the back we couldn't see because of some trays he took out. He said he would defrost and change a thermometer to hopefully fix the issue. He also said if it doesn't it would have to be the main board which would be more expensive. Overall he spent maybe an hour overall. Next day it was working perfectly. He seemed very honest and straight forward. The price was reasonable. I don't understand the reviews that don't want to pay the 30 dollars for a service call. His time and experience costs money. He can't tell you what the issue is or how much it is over the phone. I called and Don came the next day. He came and it was all fixed in under 2 hours. Apparently after 10 years of usage, our water pump went out. He took it out, cleaned it and gave me instructions on how to care for our washer. Our washer dryer unit was $6,000 top of the line in the market when we purchased them. We used and abused them thru the years and they stood strong and work always, so when washer stopped working after being so reliable for 10 years, we paid happily for it. They are Maytag pair, washes literally everything and ANYTHING. it's now almost 2 weeks since the repair. It works fine with no issues. It may seem a bit louder than b4, but it doesn't bother me so much. Don not only came on time, was very courteous. The charge for replacing the water pump in the washer was $240 approx in total. Painless, smooth and all went swell. He even had a little blue book w him on all the laundry machines, looks like a "laundry bible" to me and each brand and each model and each make has a price for each parts. It said $385 for the 2 parts needed on our machine on his book and he said to me "$240 ok?". I said OK! There it went. :p Don is a Korean guy, so his English isn't perfect but his professionalism is. Very dependable kind of traditional guy as well with a happy smile on his face. Communication wasn't superb but totally fine, making appt wasn't very clearly understandably initially but also totally fine with a simple follow up if you're not sure. Besides little quirks, I must say I highly recommend Don, everyone likes a pro who shows up on time, does what he says and deliver as promised. 5 star! :) read more
