40 dollar rubbery unflavored ribeye
America H.

Mediocre over priced Tex Mex food. The location is excellent, the service and atmosphere was better than pier 99 but the food was mid. The one star is for my husband's 40 dollar ribeye. It was a small piece of unflavored rubbery meat and they had the audacity of placing a tomato and a piece of lettuce on top of it. Never coming here again!

Our business ordered catering from here. It was such a disappointment. The ONLY thing good was the cheese dip and chips. Period.

Surprisingly good. The food was delicious. The sauces were all great little spicy but yummy and the service was good.

Even though it was not a windy day there was a nice breeze coming off the bay which made it very comfortable.

The Gold Fish has proven this long-held collective pessimism wrong. Originally a cocktail bar only, it has now expanded into a cocktail, beer and wine outdoor/indoor bar, which makes complete sense given the city's demographic demands. It was actually one of the first businesses I was most concerned with us losing permanently during the pandemic. And I am so glad they have stuck around! It is a modern cocktail bar at its core, which makes it very unique to this city. This is an obvious adoption of cocktail bar trends from other larger cities in Texas. It is very nice, with a wide array of adult beverage options for discriminating consumers to chose from. The atmosphere is perfect, and the bartenders and staff are top-notch and super nice (the attitude is refreshing compared to what one may be used to recieving from such establishments in larger cities). I usually only come here when I have company from out-of-town, as I do not go out for drinks very often. At my most recent visit, I had just experienced a personal tragedy that I only briefly alluded to our bartender when she asked how our day was going. The amount of sincere compassion we received was not expected at all. My only regret is that I did not get her name, or else I would have gladly included it in this review.

Food orgasm. All around. This was hands down one of the…read morebest meals I've ever had. From beginning to end, everything just worked. We started with the grapefruit, avocado and arugula salad with feta--fresh, bright and absolutely delicious. Then came the smoked snapper dip, followed by the drunken clams with Akaushi sausage. OMG. The clams were served in an incredible white wine, garlic, smoky, savory broth with crusty bread to soak up every last drop. There was absolutely no leaving that broth behind. Then came the branzino. Flame-grilled with fire-roasted red pepper and garnished with Italian chimichurri. Absolutely phenomenal. Beautifully prepared, full of flavor and one of those dishes you continue talking about long after the meal is over. In fact, about halfway through dinner, the table next to us interrupted to ask what we had ordered because everything looked so good--and, apparently, our very obvious food orgasm while eating caught their attention. The service was amazing. (Holden was great) The bartenders and servers were attentive throughout the evening, the drinks were great, and the wine was good. I would love to see the wine list expanded a bit with more options, but that is truly a minor suggestion compared with the overall experience. And then there's the atmosphere. Wonderful. Sitting right on the water overlooking the bay while enjoying an incredible meal made the entire experience even better. This is what dining out should be: incredible food, thoughtful flavors, attentive service, great drinks and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. I will be dreaming about this meal--and probably drooling while doing so. Truly, one of the best meals I've ever had. Five stars doesn't feel like enough. We will absolutely be back.

Now for the food review: 1. The oysters were amazing. 2. The Yellow Curry Shrimp with the plantains was our favorite dish. 3. The short ribs were a let down. The meat was really soft but it was so dry. We couldn't even finish it. (We wished we would have just both ordered th yellow curry shrimp) 4. The truffle fries were good but get the 1/2 order if your 2 because the serving size is a lot. 5. Banana Bread Pudding was the best thing. We kind of wish the serving size of the ice cream was a little more because the bread pudding was a large serving. It was the star of the show. We would be back just for this bread pudding so please don't ever take it off the menu.

Incredibly attentive (by default) he was great at answering our questions and making recommendations. I tried out the Balacera - boasting both mezcal and absinthe, two widely hated spirits on their own which had the potential to make it disgusting...and it was fantastic! Super unique and refreshing on the particularly muggy day. We also ordered a cherry vodka soda, which came topped with homemade maraschinos and juice, which was equally tasty. We also tried out a gin daisy and ghost of greyhound (a nod to the location previously being a bus station, hence, the BUS moniker). The gin daisy was a little too heavy on aperol for my tastes, but the ghost was another hit. It was great to see a specialty menu of drink combinations you don't often find. We didn't stick around for food, but couldn't help but take in the cute decorations and details both inside and out. A fun addition to the widening "trendification" of downtown Corpus. I do believe I will be adding this to my rotation when in town!

I have a new go-to spot when Im visiting Corpus and it's Neuces Whiskey Library!…read more I stopped in recently thanks to the recommendation of a local friend that knows I'm a whiskey lover. From the moment I walked in I fell in love with this space. From the dim lighting, to the elegant ambiance, to the cozy booth, and woodpaneled bar - I was immediately obsessed. Everything I tried here was absolutely delicious both from the food menu and the drink menu. I did a tasting flight (highly recommend) and sampled a few house cocktails. Neither approach will do you wrong and I recommend doing both if you have the time. For food we went with the : -sliders -charcuterie board - gnocchi -truffle fries And you can't go wrong with any of these. The sliders and charcuterie were the top two table favorites (although we may have been fighting over the last few truffle fries as well) Add this place to your list if you're in the Corpus area!

A bit disappointed as there was no greeting from the bartender, however the couple that arrived after me was greeted with the question of this being their first time and they provided their name. Seeing this was any first time, this courtesy intro would have been appreciated. Ordered the peniccillin which was decent. I was warned it's a very peaty drink (not sure I said that right) as it has The Peat Monster in it. While the taste was strong, not overwhelming and you can taste the smokiness. Got the aranciette and they were hot on the outside and just barely warm inside. Taste was good though. Second drink was an old fashion made with Crown Peach and just as tasty as I remember.

Water Street Oyster Bar is one of those places where the story is as much about what it used to be…read moreas what it is today. Growing up and into my twenties, this felt like one of the nicer restaurants in Corpus Christi. It had a more upscale atmosphere than most places around town, and the menu was extensive. It didn't matter what you ordered because it was all good. Some of my favorite memories are sitting at the oyster bar with my parents whenever friends or family came to town, eating freshly shucked oysters while everyone else enjoyed colorful cocktails. Those days feel like they're gone. The menu has been reduced to a single page and now looks a lot like what you'll find at just about any seafood restaurant along the Gulf Coast. The biggest issue isn't the quality. The food is still consistent, and the service has remained reliable. It just doesn't feel unique anymore. The sense that this was a special destination has faded, and that's the part I miss most. That said, the location is still great, the restaurant is always clean, and the bartenders continue to be one of its biggest strengths. They've always been knowledgeable, make excellent drinks, and add a lot to the experience. I genuinely hope this place finds some of the character that made it special years ago. I'll always have a soft spot for it because of the memories, and I'd love to see it become a destination again instead of just another seafood restaurant.
