I had to give it three stars based on the sanitary conditions of their restaurant and NOT on the quality of their food. I've been here a couple of times because the food was amazing, and it still is especially the chicken Shawermas (my all-time fav). However, I only became more disappointed every time came when I seen them preparing my food... the two men preparing it were not wearing gloves!!! Hello!!!! I did not notice this at first when I first visited maybe they wore them when they first opened or they never did but this was a major health violation for me. The man who was preparing my Shawerma actually held the whole thing in his bare hand. I was pretty disgusted..who knows if they go to the bathroom and come back without washing their hands? If you are going to prepare something that I am eating please have the decency and respect to wear gloves. That is all I ask please. To Falafelji..Your food is delicious and I wish I can go back again but just the whole "glove thing" bothers me. read more

Well maybe this place will be a go in Lyons but not in Lagrange, Lets start with the cold decor,very unwelcoming, and looks like you just walked in unexpected,no smells, no warmth,nothing to make you say "wow this might be good" now for the food, we ordered the chicken Kabob plate, the portion was good, But that's where it stopped, everything on that plate was so overloaded with the same HOT spice (not mid-eastern),our mouths were on fire for a hour after, and we love spicy, this was like a cayenne hot, and the rice, I know you make it ethnic style but whats wrong with trying to appeal to more people with just a nice mild Basmati, the salad, eighter chop it or don't , this in between is not working, and another word of advise, go to the dollar store if you have to and buy some REAL plates, those plastic/Styrofoam might work in a school cafeteria or prison but I certainly don't want to have my DINNER on those, and if you have to do plastic ware get some a little sturdier, we could hardly get a full bite of of them, I do realize you just opened but 1st impressions are what makes people come back and spread the word, we have lived in Lagrange for 36 years and seen many restaurants come and go , and if you want to stay you need to try and make it more appealing to the Lagrange palate......... read more

ThE falafel is very tasty. The green hot sauce is yummy. Service was great. Only complaint is sandwich is too big and now I'm stuffed!

Unimpressed. Food lacked flavor (middle eastern spices such as cardamom, mint, cumin..), the Shawarma sauce is too heavy and can get pricey if you want to try "a little bit of everything" (averaged about $14 per plate among 3 people). Place is better for carry out than for dining as it lacks ambience and does not feel clean. I was so excited to try this as there's a strong need for gastronomic variety in the area but nope, ours was a regretful experience. I can't even believe how good this place is! I have had plenty of middle eastern food and this place was the best. You have to get the steak shewarma. I normally get chicken, but the steak was out of this world. The people are so nice and so helpful, so if you aren't familiar with this kind of food, it's not intimidating at all. Small, takeout style place with cheap prices. Having lived in Jordan for about 8 months and had a lot of great falafel and middle eastern food, this falafel is absolutely delicious and LEGIT! everything I ordered was actually really good but the falafel (their namesake) was exceptional and absolutely the best falafel I've ever had in all of America. We visited on Saturday at about 5:30pm. Omg the food here is FANTASTIC!!! My family had the falafel sandwich with extra pickles (because they are soooooooo amazingly tasty), beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, tabbouleh salad, rice and hummus. Everything was truly delightful. We were greeted warmly when we walked in. While eating the owner came up to us to see how everything was. I explained how we LOVED everything and that my son was crazy for the rice. He wanted to bring us more rice, but my son told him thank you but he was full. Absolutely delicious. This was our second visit. I can't wait to go back soon. read more

We've been to Falafelji several times now, and I don't usually leave reviews, but I just HAVE to for this one. This place consistently has awesome fresh food. The quality of the meat in the chicken shawarma is so good, but my favorite thing to order is the Mezze Platter (dolmades, salad, hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, and pita for less than $10)! It's super cheap but high quality and oh so good and fresh. The guy who I'm assuming is the owner because he's been there every time I have is helpful. They have dine-in, although we normally carry out. The dining room is clean and no frills, which is fine. They have a slightly more exciting beverage offering than some places (Izze sodas in addition to Pepsi products and bottled water), which is nice. We'll definitely be back again and again. read more

Love the Lyons Falafel Guy!! Everyone I've recommended Falafelji to loves the place! Excellent food, great customer service (I've only done pick up or carry out). My personal reason for frequenting them is the falafel recipe. I buy uncooked and bake them in my toaster oven at home, I don't often eat fried foods. I have tried the fried falafel, this guy knows what he is doing. I work for a corporate Mediterranean chain, and I absolutely love their healthy food but when I want the best falafel that I often crave; Falafelji is my guy! read more

I work in the area and have been going here at least once a week for about 2 1/2 years, I have tried as you would expect quite a few items on the menu but my favorite so far is the Mezze sampler with Pita. They certainly have the best falafel around. Far, far from dry, which is a miracle I think. It's hard to find that. Don't ever leave without getting some lentil soup. And I don't think I have a complaint in general about the place. The first visit I had some really chewy bread that I could not eat (my husband could.) It was a fluke because it hasn't happened again. They just opened, some things, understandably, have to be worked out. The owner is so personable and is proud of his restaurant. The food is made to order - old school style. Yes, it takes awhile to get the food out but that's a GOOD thing (play with your iPhone or something.) The prices are quite reasonable. So here's my summary: the MOST MOIST FALAFEL I'VE EVER, EVER , EVER HAD. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT BUYING THE LENTIL SOUP. Practice a modicum of patience in our hectic world. SMILE! This is the best falafel anywhere! Everything is fresh and delicious: lemony lentil soup, creamy hummus, delicious shawarma and tasty salads. The Mezze platter is wonderful. I am so glad they decided to open this type of restaurant near my home. I absolutely LOVE this place. Whenever we go on vacation we look for middle eastern restaurants to try and this one is our new favorite. The falafels are great, the Kifta, the Beef Shawerma platters and Red Peper Hummus are excellent as well. We ten blocks from this place and are very happy to have found it. We went there tonight for the first time and were very pleased with the freshness, the guality and the preparation of the foods. The menu has your usual mid-eastern or Mediterranean selections, but very well done. Perfect for take out or delivery. Well priced. Large portions. We ate there and it was simple, but very clean. Food was ok.. very dirty inside ..stuff on the floor.. and what I found very disturbing was that as the cook was making my food he licked his fingers and then continued to handle my food without gloves or even washing them.
