I have only gone to Falafelji a couple of times but on both occasions the food has been very good. I especially like the appetizer Mezze and have purchased two portions and filled up on it. The variety is good and the food is tasty. Plus it isn't too far from where I live and I can pick it up and bring it home in less than 20 minutes. We stopped here on our way to the airport expecting a quick bite before we flew out but what we got was so much more.... The owner and the guys behind the grill were super friendly and greeted us with a warm smile. The food was spectacular. We shared a combo plate with a side of babaganoush. The meats were tender and marinated all the way through. We had two dipping sauces jalapeno garlic and habanero that was perfect for adding that extra kick/burn to your desired liking.the accompanying salad was refreshing and colorful(far from your typical iceburg and tomatoes)The babaganoush was wonderfully Smokey and flavorful. It was a chilly 15° outside so i ordered hot tea. I warmed my hands around the brew as the aroma permeated my senses. the flavor was lightly sweetened and accented with handpicked sage. I'm happy to say that this has been one of my most enjoyable meals here in Chicago. Who would've known that it would come from such an affordable and unassuming hole in the wall.... I recommend this restaurant. Ultimately, though, I am confused. Maybe I have had bad luck or got spoiled by falafel trucks in LA/NY, but this place has been awesome for me for pretty much any dish BUT falafel. The shawarma, mezze, and Jerusalem salad are top-notch. Don't bother hiking to the city for these. The two times I ordered falafel with other dishes, they have been cold and were the blandest falafel I've ever had. I didn't even think that was possible. Went to this place yesterday and ordered falafel and tabouli salad. The food was pretty good. The service was exceptional. The manager (or owner) was extremely sweet. He welcomed us in, and had a smile on his face for the entire 15 minutes we were there. He prepared our order in front of us, so we knew it was fresh. I've been here 7 or 8 times, and I keep coming back! The food is delicious! I was hooked on the beef shawarma, but now I get the combo platter. The food is plentiful, and the prices are good. I've tried other Mediterranean restaurants, but none of them I've found are as good as Falafelji! The service is good, and the guys making your food are nice. It takes a bit longer to get your food, but that's because it's fresh and made to order. I love this place, and I'll keep coming back. Also, do yourself a favor, and get the homemade hot sauce. I've had a lot of middle eastern food from all around the world and I must say this is by far top 3 with the other 2 coming from a place in New York City and the other from across the ocean in the Middle East itself. Finally, fantastic falafel near me! This small little 4-table mini-mall restaurant offers super flavorful falafel (crunchy on the exterior and fluffy and flavorful on the inside). The baba ghanouj is outstanding with hints of lemon, and garlic? and roasted good flavor. My only quibble is with the pita bread they use reminds me more of a cross between a burrito wrap and a pita bread than a fluffy pita bread. But the flavors will keep me coming here regardless of the bread. And the staff, owner is awesome and has a real kind disposition (you can tell he loves his cuisine). read more

The owner Bilal is a big-hearted gentleman that clearly loves cooking and is committed to serving up fresh, tasty food. I loved chatting to him about flavours and recipes and memories of watching his grand father cook. Bilal serves up the most delicious falafels I have ever tasted. They are moist and laced with mint and highly addictive!! These make him THE FALAFELJI (which means falafel seller). The tabbouleh is fabulous and make sure you have the smoky baba ghanoush. Fantastic fresh and flavorful food. Prepared from scratch at the place, it may take a few minutes, but the taste is one of a kind - and I have eaten at many Middle-eastern food places. Next to AlBawadi (a full restaurant in Bridgeview), this is the best I have had. I eat there and do take outs for dinners with friends - everybody raves about it. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I live in Aurora so it's a drive for me & my boyfriend but it's worth it. Whenever we're coming from downtown Chicago, we try to stop there because we love the falafels and chicken shawarma. The Jerusalem salad is awesome! The baklava reminds me of the greek bakeries that I used to frequent in NYC. The chefs are so friendly and courteous, and are never too busy to hold a conversation with you. is it me or when people behind the counter do not use gloves, wipe sweat off their heads with their arms, use the same tongs to put raw chicken on grill and then use same tongs to put cooked chicken and vegetables in platters, lie to 3 different customers that you didn't do what we all seen you do and drop a spatula on the floor, just rinse under the faucet ( no soap ) and use again is extremely disgusting. but if your alright with that than this place is for you. i'm a little pissed off too, because i really like this place. my company has ordered here a bunch of times but, this the first time i picked up our order. what i seen blow me away!!! i told them to keep the food. i'm not nitpicking, people can die from stuff like this!!! just watch the guy making your food the next time you go for a few minutes, make your own judgements. be safe and eat good! read more
