I wouldn't consider myself an expert on Middle Eastern cuisine, so I can't really say if this place is authentic or not. But what I will say is their falafel wrap is sooooooo tasty! I usually get my falafel sandwiches from Pita House on Roselle Rd, but I wanted to try somewhere different and closer to the office. To clarify, there is no falafel sandwich at Falafil Hut, they only offer wraps. But it's still wrapped in a pita, it's not a flour tortilla or anything. This was my first experience there, and I didn't experience the long wait times that other reviewers complained about. Everything is made-to-order, but I appreciate that and don't mind waiting. It took about 5 minutes to receive my wrap; not bad at all. The place is small and kind of a dingy, hole-in-the-wall. There are only about 4 tables, and a counter by the front window with about 4 stools. I don't think I would count on being able to dine-in here because if they got very busy there will be nowhere to sit. Everything in my wrap was delicious. The falafel were soooo tasty and all the produce in the wrap (tomatoes, chopped lettuce, and chopped cucumbers) were firm and fresh! It had just the right amount of tahini so that you could taste it, but it didn't make the pita soggy. They might have put a thin layer of hummus in too, but I'm not sure. I will definately be back the next time I'm craving falafel. Next time, I'll probably phone-in my order ahead of time so it's ready when I get there. I'm usually not so critical if something goes wrong with my order but I couldn't let it go this time as it turned out to be the third consecutive time my order was messed up by the same guy! I ordered a chicken kabob and shawerma platter but came game to find out there was no 'combination' all of it was just kabob. When I called back to complain telling him it was the third time all he had to say was 'I gave you 8 pieces of kabob instead of shawerma chicken' well in a regular chicken kabab platter there are 8 pieces anyway so there was t any favor that he did. Moreover, when I complained that why do I always end up paying extra for a combination platter when I just get a simple kabab platter, he was bold enough to say there's only a 50c difference which again is not right and there's a $1.50 difference. I don't care about the money but this is not good customer service! No doubt their food is really good that's why I regularly order from here but ever since their old workers left and they have this new Indian guy, my order is never right! I decided to give this place a try because of the good reviews on here. It wasn't the case for me. The food tasted good but was extremely salty even the hummus was salty. On the menu, it says the combo comes with falafil but my order didn't have any. The combo came with "a salad" but it was basically lettuce. Another thing, I was looking at the menu pictures on Yelp that was posted 5 months ago and the Super Combo was $14.99 but when I went to pay it was $16.99 before tax so I guess they increased it by $2 within 6 months. read more

This is a small joint that serves great food. The food is not authentic middle eastern but that's part of its charm. The NW suburbs is home to a large indian population and this food is reflective of the same. I recommend the Tava Rice with Chicken or Tava Rice with Beef. Falafel is not that easy to make right. Sometimes it can be too dry, bland or just simply not good. But falafel hut has got their recipe down! Their falafel is done correctly, crunchy on the outside and moist and blasting with flavor on the inside! The only thing that they could do better is using authentic middle eastern pickles instead of hamburger pickles, but nonetheless it was still tastier than many of the middle eastern restaurants that I have tried in Illinois. I'm from Michigan so I come from home of amazing middle eastern cuisine and so it makes it challenging to actually find a place that comes close, and this place almost does. I was impressed with their hummus as well, it's soo hard to find actually good hummus and not watered down crap they call hummus here! Overall I thought this little place has done their falafel and hummus very well! It takes awhile to make (about 10 minutes), but when I had my first bite I could tell it was fresh and made with love. I absolutely love Middle Eastern food. My girlfriend and I recently moved to Schaumburg and are always looking for delicious eats. We were hesitant about this place but decided to take a chance and let me tell you - IT WAS WORTH IT! Hands down one of the best Chicken Shwarma Sandwiches I have ever had! And the best part - they add jalapeños to it to give it an extra kick! The sandwiches are huge and we were only able to eat half each. Between the two sandwiches and the incredible humus we ordered it came out to be $16 for both, not bad! Would definitely recommend this place and will absolutely come here again. YUM!! Great Middle Easterr/Pakistani food, especially given the demographics. Being from Skokie, we have quite a few really great Middle Eastern restaurants in the neighborhood. I dragged a friend of mine here to try something new and different (given he's an all American meat & potatoes kinda guy) and after much coaxing he agreed to try it. I prayed to the Ethnic Food Gods that Falafil Hut would not disappoint. The venue is nothing to write home about, and although they really need to take a mop and sponge the place down, the people behind the counter and grill were very nice and offered suggestions to my wary companion. He complained about the unfamiliar aromas coming out of the kitchen area and the patrons in the retaurant, so we placed an order to go so we can eat in the comfort of his home. After pointing out what each item was and what was in it, he took a bite out of his spicy Chicken Shwarma combo dish and didn't resurface until he had completely cleaned out his entire take-out container. He acted completely indifferent about his first Middle Eastern Food experience, but watching him snarf his entire meal down in the course of 20 minutes confirmed that he actually liked it and might broaden his palette with some other adventurous foods. Two days later he called me and made me guess where he had eaten his dinner. He had a little bit of bad luck running into an older guy at the counter who was not very friendly or helpful since my buddy was trying to replicate the same meal he had the other night. But now he's a regular! LOL. Just about everything on the menu is amazing, and the baklava is fresh and light and a bargain for the portion and price! The beef shawarma wrap has definitely become my grab and go meal when I am around the Hoffman area. Their meat is cooked to perfection and they took aprox 25-30 mins to make your food so remember if you're ordering out call in ahead of time. Definitely will visit again. So so I have been there 2 times so far. I ordered a falafil sandwitch both times. The first time the falafil appeared to be freshly made. It was crispy and crunchy. It was a fairly filling falafil sandwitch made in generous pita bread with veggies, hot sauce, tahini, hummus (the usual works). The second time I ordered the falafils were probably not freshly made. It didn't seem as crunchy/crispy as first time. it didnt have much character - looks like I was biting into a big slab of brick or something. Just when I got my sandwitch I saw the owner in the back of the restaurant smoking and coming out (not kidding). He didn't appear to wash his hands. I wasn't too happy with that. The owner does prepare the falafil sometimes - not sure how strictly they take their hygiene .Besides you should not smoke inside the restaurant anyway. I haven't been there after that. read more

I've been on the search for great falafil for some time now, and after trying a few places on I believe I've found the only place I'll need to go from now on! The falafil was very well priced, and the staff was very courteous. I had to wait a few extra minutes as they had just changed the oil, so they went out of their way and treated me to an order of hummus for the slight inconvenience. I can't say that I've ever been to a restaurant who treated their customers that well, especially on such a small order! Everything I've had here was not only good, but among the best I've had. To start, the best Middle Eastern rice I've eaten, and I've had rice at quite a few places.
