This review is for the chicken Tawa rice. This is home style, desi style fried rice. Like a spicy "pulau." They give u a thick garlic yogurt sauce which goes along perfectly with it. Amazing. We stopped here one afternoon after a day of shopping. We picked up a chicken shawarma wrap to share. Just one. That was our first mistake. I almost didn't share it with the hubby. It was so good. I couldn't stop eating it. A few weeks later, the hubs asked if I wanted him to pick up a chicken shawarma wrap on his way home from that area (we live about 30 minutes away). I said "yes!!" When he arrived home, it was still warm and it was delicious. A little of the sauce dripped onto my sleeve and I spent the next several hours sniffing my sleeve and dreaming of that wrap. He brought another home a couple weeks ago. I wasn't feeling it that night so I stuck it in the fridge. It was just as delicious the next day, reheated. The falafils are yummy too! read more

I have tried several burger places and this place has officially ranked number 1 for me. I had the spicy gyro burger and it was a 10/10. The bun, the meat, the sauce's everything was spot on. It's mostly a take out place but the lady was so sweet and pulled out a table and extra chairs to accommodate us. Highly recommend this place. read more

3.5 Stars - I can't figure out if I am a fan or not due to some things being really good and some being meh. I gave them the 4 in the rating because I know how much half a star means to businesses. This place is pretty small, 2 tables for 3 ppl each and 4 seats or was it 6? at a counter top facing the window. So if you have a bunch of people, you may want to do take out instead. Chicken and Gyro combo - The chicken was excellent and the Gyro was pretty good, it's the kinda they take off the spit and grill on the flat top before serving so it's crispier. I prefer it straight off the spit, I probably could have asked for it that way so I won't ding them on that. Rice - the rice was nicely flavored and fairly fluffy. Garlic Mayo - this was the bomb diggity sauce, I wondered why the guy kinda looked at me weird for a second when I asked for Taziki, I thought it was regular mayo. But he was very nice and gave me what I asked for. When I tried the Garlic Mayo, dang! Falafils - I am not a fan of these, they taste like this one packaged diy mix I had at home once, it was pretty dry and not that great. I would take a pass on their name sake sadly. Lamb - I tried some of my friends lamb, it was pretty good! FYI, the super combo takes like 25 minutes to make for some reason, so I passed on trying all their food today. Came here on a whim and enjoyed the food. I had the Chicken shawarma and Gyro combo platter(spicy) and the wife had a chicken and beef shawarma combo platter(spicy) and they both hit nicely. In any event, my wife and I came here for dinner recently and got the chicken Shawarma combination Plate with gyro. Both of us were impressed. The chicken was well flavored, rice was cooked well. The gyro meat wasn't dry and the Taziki sauce complemented it perfectly. We also got and order of falafel. I was shocked to see it yellow inside since we usually see Green but it was still good. Tried it recently after a lot of friends couldn't stop talking about how good the food was. Indeed! The food is pretty awesome. I've tried the falafel platter which is served with some rice, pita Hummus and salad. Very good portion size. The falafel is actually super authentic and so good! 5-6 pieces of falafil! Also have tried the chicken Tawa rice! I absolutely loves it. Requested for spicy and it sure is very very good portion size. Can be shared among 2 along with a side of falafel or chips. Both the times we did a take away order and I have personally not visited the restaurant but was told it doesn't have a lot of tables to dine in. There is no other place like this for Mediterranean food in Schaumburg. The chicken tawa rice is so delicious with perfect spice levels. Make sure you tell the chef to make it spicy if you like to eat spicy food. The garlic sauce that they serve with all items is so good that i feel like to have it all alone. Also tried their chicken tawa rice and the "spicy" one was way too spicy for me but the regular one is perfection. I called at 725 pm tonight, ordered chicken Shawrma, lamb Shawrma, chicken taawa rice. I asked for garlic and red sauce. Had no red sauce, which I paid for extra. The lamb Shawrma, literally enough for one pita split in half. They now add a mini salad, that they put on top of both Shawrmas. So you no longer get the regular portion of hummus chicken Shawrma which you use to get. Called and let them know, employee was very argumentative about what he assures I ordered. I advised he was wrong and he told me I was wrong. I asked how we rectify this(paid for extra pitas, sauce, meat) received no extras. DONT order lamb, evidently they are cutting the portion, but the cost is the same. Very disappointed. Oh and the kicker, the employee hung up on me after I said it wasn't right 6/10 Update. The owner reached out to me, advising this was not acceptable behavior. I have always enjoyed the food here and am hoping this was just a bad day. I will be back, as I have always enjoyed the food! I used to like this place. Food was always good. Today my boyfriend ordered food for us over the phone. He ordered one spicy shawarma and one regular for me. When he arrived, guy told him that by mistake he put a little hot pepper in my shawarma. My boyfriend told him to remake the dish, as I can't stand hot pepper. A guy asked to buy this spicy shawarma, saying that he will give us a discount. My boyfriend didn't take it and asked the guy to remake the dish anyways. 10 minutes ago I tried my food. It is spicy. My mouth is on fire. I couldn't eat it because i got allergy. Im hungry and mad. By the way, they also put much less meat in my order. Did you guys do that on purpose, because my boyfriend made you to remake the dish? It was your fault! You were told No SPICY! Listen to your customers. This place is fire. Wish I lived closer. When I come I always get the chicken shawarma. I had my sister and mom try it. They both think it's really spicy. I love spicy though so it's normal to me but I guess if you don't like spicy I wouldn't recommend this dish. Always call your order in. They take a really long time to make it which is kinda good. You know your food will be served to you fresh. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is twice I placed togo orders and they gave my food to someone else so I had to wait for them to remake mine. One of those times they gave my food to a lady who started eating in there and noticed it wasn't hers. They tried to give me that exact same box. I always died from the disbelief. KNOWN FOR - Spicy Chicken Shawarma (10/10) I ALSO TRIED - Falafils (8/10) While I can proudly say that I've been eating shawarma long before the 2nd secret ending of The Avengers, I'm still not head over heels about it. That's why it's taken me a while to stop by, because out of all the weird things I get cravings for (554, pho, Pok Pok in Portland) shawarma never really gets called. Luckily enough, I decided to stop today by while taking my little shortcut home. Back when this place first opened, I was rushing home from work, and needed some kind of sustenance because I was about to engage in an 8 hour battle with internet dragons. Call me a nerd, whatever. Anyway, I bought a chicken shawarma, because that seemed easy, and I came home, scarfed it down, and threw away 8 hours of my life. I do remember it being very tasty and that I should write a review, so...better late than never, right? I'm pretty sure either the owner or head chef changed, because the food does look different. I'll explain... SPICY CHICKEN SHAWARMA When I first came here, there was a menu with 6 items on it, that's it. I also remember I wanted beef shawarma, but they only had chicken. Looking on their menu today, they definitely now have beef, and they definitely have a lot more than 6 items! Moreover, they are now also "The Home Of The Spicy Chicken Shawarma." Well, I'm a sucker for "Famous For" type of things, so I had to get it. They shave some chicken off of the broiler and then throw it on the grill with some onions. I seem to recall it used to be served in a pita, but now it's served in a pita tortilla kinda thing. They take the tortilla, smear it with hummus, then yogurt sauce, some lettuce, tomato, and onions, then the chicken-onion grill, and then generous amounts of some other sauce, which I assume is the "spicy" part of it. Then they wrap it up. The thing is messy. The way they roll it up, it's very non-functional, as it's completely open on both sides. They need to get some practice from Chipotle or even Taco Bell. But other than the messiness, this thing is awesome! All the sauces and the juices from the chicken make everything so tender, and the sauces really get around, because every single bite is just bursting with Mediterranean herby flavor and an absolutely perfect amount of seasoning. I hate raw onions, but the flavors of everything else really trapped the raw onion taste that I hate, and only let the very tail end of that linger as the flavors of the whole bite started to trail off. Even better, the lingering of the raw onion sort of enhanced the flavor, and made it last longer. The chicken was great, it never tasted or felt dry, and even if it was, it was in the company of so much juicy goodness that you wouldn't have known anyway. This also comes in regular, extra spicy, sweet & spicy, and tandoori. All flavors I will try, now that I know how good this is! FALAFILS The place is named for them, and I guess they are pretty good, but 8/10 might be the best I could ever give a filafil. I can't imagine what could happen that could make me like a filafil any more than that. They used to serve these in the shape of a White Castle chicken ring, but now they're traditional ping pong ball sized and shaped. They had just taken them out of the deep frier and into the paper bag so the paper bag was practically transparent after I got home. The crunch was definitely there, although I'd probably have to call it a crisp, more than a crunch, because it's a bit lighter. It's about the same as most falafils I've had. FALAFILLING! Messiness aside, that Spicy Chicken Shawarma is hard to beat! I definitely see myself getting the craving for it and, being so close to home, will probably be stopping by all the more! read more

I'm so confused. Screaming across the landscape like an unstoppable wave of sound middle eastern food calls out to me. Its spiced, rich notes echoing in the fondest chambers of my soul. It was an unseasonably warm March evening when I decided my heart and body were aching for some of my good ol' fashioned soul food as I was cruising down Golf Ave and Falafil Hut appeared in my periphery. Parked and went inside and perused the menu. It's not special, but then again the best middle eastern spots never are. Shwarma, falafil, hummus, baba ganouj and all the usual players headlined the act with a few Indian specialties as well, but I was in no adventurous mood. Nay, the evening cried for the familiar and delicious. I ordered a combo plate of beef shwarma, chicken shwarma and falafel and proceeded to wait for my food to be ready. And waited. And waited. And waited. Granted I was a walk-in order but I didn't expect it to take upwards of 20 minutes for my order to be prepared. The girl making the food apologized several times as the person who came in before me apparently ordered for his entire auto dealership and it was taking longer than expected. I didn't make a stink. I had Angry Birds on my Droid and nowhere to be. In the end I got a free order of Hummus for my wait and was on my way. Got home, unwrapped this veritable feast and dug in. So I try not to compare restaurants too much. And in this case I won't do so unfairly. But Pita Inn has the best pita bread on Earth and Falafil Hut has the worst. I don't know who taught them to make pita and I don't care. Take them out back and shoot them. Their pita was flat and hard and awful. It had no bite to it, it was just terrible and I don't know who I angered to deserve such terrible pita but there it was, in copious amounts and torturing me with every bite. If it were superfluous like a bread basket in an Italian restaurant I'd forgive it but come on now, this is middle eastern. Pita is central and vital to the food and Falafil Hut served up a big stinking pile of bad. The rest of the food was decent and filling but the pita soured the whole event. I wanted it to be better. I tried every single piece they gave me but to no avail. Their pita was just no good. It pains me to say but I won't be going back to Falafil Hut. I can't. There are better local outlets for middle eastern and Falafil Hut just isn't up to snuff, sorry to say. read more

Hands down! Best Zabihah Halal, Beef Shawarma and Chicken Shawarma sandwiches in town. Both sandwiches were made to order and were just simply perfect. The beef was very well cooked on a Rotisserie and so was the chicken. Both of them were perfectly spiced for perfection and every bite reminded me of Shawarma sandwiches I used to eat while visiting Abu Dhabi, Kuwait and Saudia Arabia. Pita bread was loaded with meat and tahini sauce, they even warmed it up in panini maker. Sanitation for me wasn't a issue. The guy who prepared our sandwich was wearing gloves and was very clean. They do have sit down tables. Not sure why another helper said it was a carry out only place? In the end, I will return to this place with my entire extended family and have them try the sandwiches as every bite took me down the memory lane. People who are not familiar with the type of sandwiches made in middle east dont have anything to compare this too, luckily I do! read more

Went here for lunch with the wife. We both ordered the Lamb Shawarma Wrap, as well as a half dozen of falafel to go. We got one sandwich spicy and the other regular. The sandwiches are big, with a lot of meat, great taste, freshly made, and the spicy one is not overly kickin'...but just right. Like other reviews stated, the falafels are delicious and freshly made. We actually saw the cook scoop them and drop them into the hot oil. I would say that this is not really a place to eat in, but to carry out. There are only two tables, and 4-5 stools at the counter in the window. So it just depends - you definitely can't bring like an entire family of 4-5 here, but if it's just you and a friend...maybe not so bad if the tables are not taken. I just want to say this restaurant is unappealing walking into but has the best chicken shawarma platter that I have ever had. Their dinner portion is enough for two people. I live in the suburbs and work downtown and every time I go into the office later, my boss and colleagues ask if I can pick up chicken shawarma on my way. I stopped in yesterday after a while ( I live 30 minutes away else I would be there daily) I had the lamb shwarma and chicken tawa rice. 19 bucks seemed high but ahwell you only live once right When I got the food the shwarma weighed about a pound and when I opened it it was all lamb so Its a great deal. The shwarma gave me that juicy mouth watering taste I have been looking for enough spice to make you breath a few times more but the taste oh the taste. Next I ordered the chicken tawa ( I told the wife don't send me to restaurants hungry) its like 1.5 lbs a good amount of chicken its not biryani so the chicken is already in pieces ( love that) oh the taste I am writing this as I eat this to prepare to go somewhere else just in case the food isn't what it should be. Its spicy but not like a bunch of chli spicy but like deep spicy with layers. I mean I ordered it yesterday had it tonight and it will be lunch tomorrow not cuase I want variety but for the quanity. One of the joys and fears and joys of moving to the burbs is finding replacements for (or not) to your favorite places in the city. Rejoice, I have found my chicken shawarma go to! First things first, this is not a place that you dine in. When you walk in through the front door you are greeted to three uninviting 8 foot stacks of to-go containers. There is a counter by the window and some stools but you are better off just picking up and eating in the comforts of your own home. Secondly, the food was delicious. The chicken shawarma/gyros combo platter wasn't the most generous (more rice please!) but was it tasty. Chicken pieces had a nice crisp without being overly dry. What stood out, however, were the Tawwa (Tava) platters! Think middle eastern fried rice but tastier. This is where this place makes it name and should keep you coming back for more.
