This place has been a secret gem of mine since 2003 . Been coming here for a long long time and everyone here is like family to me from Billie to Tina. These ladies have been taking care of me and my family and friends for years and I wouldn't have it any other way. When I want to escape the city and the loud noises of traffic and neighborhoods and LA itself then I come here. Look don't expect to see marble floors and fireplaces. This is our 3rd-4th time staying here, love the cabins they're so spacious and have plenty of amenities. You can literally pull right next to the room and unpack and ready for the pool or river in minutes. From our cabin it was a 2 min walk to the river, about a min walk from pool. They have little bbq pits that you may use, also an ice machine in between the office and pool. Dogs are allowed for an additional charge. My family rents out the whole back block and have a great weekend. Definitely recommend this spot! read more

This place was full of cockroaches. When we first got to the room, I saw one in the shower, but didn't make a big deal of it since it was just one. I was wrong. We kept seeing them pop out of nowhere throughout the whole night. Neither of us could sleep that night. Thinking about it makes me sick. I spoke with the manager Tina today who justified that the cockroaches were just water bugs and they spray every 6 months. Um okay?? How is that acceptable? I suggested to her that they need to warn their guests since she made it seem like I was supposed to know and be okay with that. So absurd and rude. She said the owner would give us 20% back and that was final. I told her to call him back and give us 50% off, but I never heard back or got a confirmation. I don't even care about the money. It's the principle. So unfortunate that businesses like this exist. read more

We come up here when we want to get away from the kids but not too far away. Rooms are very clean and old fashioned. We have had several rooms now and each have had a deer head in it with a gas fire place that is hooked to the heater. There is a little kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator and a sofa. The grounds are rustic and fun to walk through. There are plenty of trail heads within a couple of miles and all fun to walk. Some of the rooms are right on the river while others are behind. Very quiet , you can only hear the water and the road noise--which is not too bad. Not much light pollution at night so the skies really open up and are full of stars. read more

We have been coming here for about 9 years and have usually found things clean and well kept . It's very close to the river so my husband can throw his line in right away. This time was a bit disappointing. The rooms along the river are getting so run down and there was a huge cobweb in the kitchen that had been there for a while. Because of Covid they don't clean your room while you're there and I get that, but at least come by to see if guests need anything. For the price per night I guess I expected a little more service. Price is a little high with no amenities other than the pool. Hopefully they can do some updating to the riverfront cabins soon. read more

I'm back again because I love being out of the city and this spot is very relaxing. I got the river view cabin . It's a cool cabin the staff is awesome here billy is amazing she's always so nice. I spotted 3 deer near the cabin that was pretty cool I admired them from a distance. The river is nice but it's very low :( ... We need water for the river. Tried fishing but no luck. We love this little getaway the rooms are very nice nothing special but kitchen and bathroom are completely functional and the owners and receptionist folks are very nice. I love the pool very relaxing and very nice and cold so refreshing just like the river which is about a one minute walk from the rooms. All the rooms have a nice little outdoor patio for a picnic. Lets start of by saying I had been coming to Kern for years (and I always stayed at Falling Waters River Resort) and I was recently pushed away from this place because of the extremely rude service provided by 'Janet' there so call employee. Her customer "service" or lack there of was so bad this time around I couldn't believe my ears!!! If Billy knew who was answering their calls this person would not be there. Such a shame that this "establishment' is being portrayed so negatively by such a rude individual and incompetent person. read more

I had high hopes for this resort given the reviews I read, but they were dashed almost immediately upon arrival. I don't have a problem with a property being old, but I do expect it to be maintained in a reasonable manner - especially for the price they charge. The pictures are deceiving to say the least. The cleanliness level was average at best. The silverware and glasses in the kitchenette were dirty and most things seemed a little grimy. You would be hard pressed to prepare a meal with the supplies that were provided unless it was a sandwich. I'm not sure what was going on with the kitchen sink but they had a small mini-fridge wedged under the sink to keep it from falling down. The first morning I had a large roach in my bed and the bathroom was crawling with ants. The location is wonderful, right next to the river. Would I ever go back? Not likely. read more

Amazing stay at this peaceful and wonderful resort. My boyfriend and I came up from Orange County to get away for a few nights and ended up staying nearly one full week. We so much enjoyed all of the amenities provided to us including the kitchenette, the beautifully tall bed, working TV, AC and an amazingly refreshing pool. Everything was so well maintained. We especially enjoyed having our own space on the patio as well as using the outdoor grill to make bbq dinners. THE STAFF was especially amazing. Tina was so sweet on the phone when making our reservations and answering any and all questions AND Billie was just a sweetheart. She made us feel like family and was always making sure we had everything we needed and that we were happy :) Additionally, we brought our two little dogs with us. They had such a fun time running around, walking through the trees to the river and especially enjoyed the AC. AND, the charge for a dog is so minimal it didn't add any stress the finding a place that accepts them. We're so glad we found this as a place to stay on all our future trips up to Kernville. Worst place in Kernville to stay. Rooms are old, dirty. There are cockroaches everywhere in the room, kitchen, bathroom. Changed the room twice. Same issue in another room. Had to check out at middle of the night and find another place to stay. Family people please stay away from this place. read more

On a good note everybody was friendly! The rooms were not air conditioned well. It wasn't that clean. The bathroom was so small. Internet connection was terrible. At night our room was infested with cockroaches. Left early in the morning and will never return! read more

This place is...quaint. It was clean, at least. However, the bedding was so old (at least 15 years minimum) and dusty that I had an allergy attack in the middle of the night. The shower was so explosive with high water pressure that it hurt my skin to stand under it. The shower door was cracked and moldy. The ammenities are bottom of the line. The TV wouldn't work correctly; I couldn't change the channel from the remote or the TV, so it was stuck on the same channel. The toilet took 4 TIMES to flush a measly peice of toilet paper. There are no phones in the room to contact the front desk. Did I mention the whole room reeked of mildew? When I woke up, I couldn't wait to leave. For the higher price tag, I would expect more. Beware if you are allergic to cats; there were literally 5-10 cats hanging out in the lobby, as well as a toilet seat cover (the plush kind) on display in a window in the front desk. Who wants to look at that??? Oh, I almost forgot-the door in the room wasn't hung correctly, leaving a half inch gap that let all the cool air from the air conditioning escape. That is why the other review said to leave the A/C on all day and night. I couldn't find any vending machines, and found the ice machine only by accident. ASK TO SEE THE ROOM BEFORE YOU CHECK IN.I still haven't "checked in", because the lady at the font desk couldn't get the card reader to work, so she had to write down our credit card number and will bill us at sone future date when they figure out the machine. They have a fireplace in all of the rooms, but they don't have firewood for sale. There is no gas or electronic ignition on most of them, so a place to purchase wood on-site would be nice. read more

This hotel is okay. I stayed here for two nights three days, and just note this, there is little privacy. The front door is an old style glass window door and anyone can see through at night time. There are no blinds on the door. Yes it happened to me. There are blinds where people can see in between, and what really bugs me is that the first day we got there, apparently the heater has a pilot flame that has to be turned off, so when the guy came, he came unexpectedly, he peeked through my door glass, saw me, my dad was in the shower, did not knock, opened the door with his key and acted like it was okay. That sucked. And one more thing, the lady told us we got the river view room......NO. We got the last room in the back lot were all you can see is the front dirt courtyard an the back dirt parking lot. One more thing, if it's hot during whenever you're staying, leave the air conditioning on all day and all night, trust me. read more

This Memorial wkd everything was booked so we got lucky to have found a room here. Compared to tent camping, not too bad of a price and it came with a king bed and couch hide-away bed. The room was large enough to also put an air mattress, although I'm unsure of # of people allowed. Billie at the front office was such a pleasure and she was very detail oriented in cleaning the room while we were away. Room has kitchen with full size fridge/freezer (AWESOME). Bring your own ice or trays to make some, comes with coffee and maker, microwave, electric stove and pots, dishes, cups, mugs, utensils and clean new dish sponge, soap and Lysol wipes. Bring your own napkins and straws/plastic utensils if desired. There is an outside BBQ which is Great, along with a picnic table and couple extra chairs. Benches were a bit wobbly, I sat in my own beach chair no problem. Pool was great although not heated, pleasant area to lay out in, since the river is so high now...right along the river so there was plenty of space to walk around and take great pix with the breathtaking views! Room #1 was a butterfly theme and you can see they are trying to make decoration improvements, which is nice. Oh, shower gel, shampoo & conditioner dispensers in the shower, Awesome!!! I WILL be coming back here and as long as you aren't expecting a 5 star resort, the simple beauty of the grounds and amenities inside an AC filled room was really nice!! read more

A long time ago, when Chuck Richards bought the old "Lazy River Lodge", I had high hopes that he was going to make it something really nice. But unfortunately, years later, that just hasn't been the case. Some of the rooms have tiny kitchenettes. The pots and pans (what few there are) are in such a bad state I would not want to use them. The rooms were remodeled, but much of the old charm was taken away and replaced with plastic flowers, stuffed animals and just over all tacky thrift shop decor. The bedding is not nice. Thin blankets, thread bare sheets, gym-type towels, and torn and stained carpets are not uncommon. The beds are quite uncomfortable, which is not helped by the rubber sheet that is used directly under the very thin bottom sheet. Except for the few rooms with a sofa, the other furnishings in the room pretty much leave you with no comfortable place to sit. I don't think the bathrooms were ever remodeled. They have a 50ies style sink that hangs on the wall with no vanity and tiny, old shower stalls that really need new shower heads. The last time I stayed it was cold and the 3/4 inch gap under the door allowed a freezing cold draft to blow into the room so that I could not get the temp in the room over 50 degrees, even with the (meager) wall heater on full blast. It seems every room I have stayed in needed some type of repair. How hard would it be to install weather stripping on the bottom of a door? Some of the rooms have fireplaces, which is nice, but you have to bring or buy your own wood. My husband enjoys fishing, and does not care much about where we stay...for me it's a step up from camping, but that's about all. For what it is, I think the prices are high, but then it is a "resort" area. If you just want the basics, then this place may work for you, but for me, I'd rather stay someplace a bit nicer. read more

We went in August. I work for a company that likes team-building events, so I had a group of 50 coworkers to plan for, including transportation, meals, lodging, etc (an overnight trip from Orange County). I choose Falling Waters having been there once before and knowing their set-up - and knowing they were willing to work with us last time. This time exceeded expectations. Falling Waters is the perfect location for a group; the cabins are spaced nicely with plenty of parking and the pool area provides a gathering spot, and the location is close to town. Chuck and Billy and Tina took care of us at the lodge and they allowed Whitewater Voyages (see their review) to provide dinner and breakfast for us at the lodge, which is a major convenience when dealing with a group. Its a beautiful rustic location, river nearby and woods for walking; the cabins are nicely decorated. My team spent the entire night hanging at the pool area together, chatting, playing cards and trivia. It was the best team event by far, largely due to the venue and the service. Thanks to Chuck, Billy and Tina for taking care of us. And we had the added bonus of Chuck and Whisper joining our rafting tour! read more

Stayed here for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised! The room was clean, neat, and completely stocked. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced in a motel/hotel setting, and a good night's sleep was easily attained! The full size refrigerator is an added bonus, and the kitchen comes complete with everything you might need, including dish soap, a coffee maker (with coffee), paper towels, dishes, etc. Billie is amazing; very helpful and one of the nicest employees I have ever come across. The scenery is outstanding, and although the river is low (and fishing was unsuccessful) it is nice to see Lake Isabella beginning to make a comeback. Be sure to bring your own firewood and charcoal for the outside grill. The bathroom was spotless and towels were clean and plentiful. The doe and her fawns just relaxing on our "patio" was the perfect ending to a great day. It is quiet, plenty of privacy, and even though there was tent camping right behind us, we never heard a peep. We will be back, and often! read more
