So grateful for this place! Our trip to kernville started out rocky when we originally booked at another spot, but when we saw coral creek had an opening for us immediately I was so grateful. They had a room ready for us when we showed up at 11pm that night. The room was clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable. I love that they also have a kitchenette inside. Once we stepped out the next morning it was a picture out of a postcard, the view is stunning. At the end of our stay, we accidentally left behind the card my husband wrote for me for our 1st wedding anniversary. We called that evening after getting home and even after they cleaned the room, they went out of their way to find it so they can mail it to us. This is a gem of a place to make a base camp OR destination as we did. It's a clean, cozy, well-run establishment operated by family. Tina is the host and is very kind and helpful. Our room was fresh and clean upon our arrival. The AC made it great because it was in the upper 90's during our stay. The hot water and shower was nice as well. You can tell that the owners put a lot of work into this place each day. The grounds are clean with no trash or hazards. It's nestled in a beautiful valley with lofty peaks and the beautiful Kern River across the street. I love this place and will definitely be back. Clean and nice staff. A great location - close to my son's hiking trip / trail. Thankful for good wifi and a kitchenette which was fully stocked with dishes, fridge, stove, microwave, etc. Cozy and warm - everything was great! Simple, not fancy but perfect for a mountain trip. For future reference, I woud reccomend letting guests know that a stove is included in the kitchenette. I would have planned more "cooking" but I thought it was just a fridge, sink and microwave. read more

So it's a great hotel so that's why I gave it. A four star, only things I can change is the inside of the hotel. I feel like it would be way cuter if it was more like a cabin style to match the outside of it and maybe a little cleaner Was up that this is amazing hotel for kids. It's hard to find hotels in Kernville because most people like to camp, but for people that don't need to camp and want to go to a hotel, I 100% recommend this place although it does need some changes. You can't beat the price for this place. It's located on Mtn Hwy 99 in a remote area, about a 10 minute drive from Kernville. I would say it's an okay stay for 1 night or maybe 2 if you need a cheap/warm place to crash and shower. Any longer I don't think I would recommend it if you want to relax. Pros: The pros are that it's a good value, it's clean, the linens were clean and the parking lot has ample parking. Spacious rooms, pet friendly. Free (and somewhat fast) wifi (You get no cell reception in this part of town). If you need cell reception you'll need to book a stay in Kernville. Cons: The place is old and the inside is outdated. Also, the AC/heater was full of dust. The bed and pillows are highly uncomfortable (hard and squeaky). I didn't mind the old fixtures (since it was clean) or even the bed since I was there for 1 night but the one thing that really bothered me was the noise. The walls are paper thin.... Really thin. I could hear my surrounding neighbors talk, their TV going and their walking around the room. It kept me up really late. read more

When we pulled up in the evening the place was all lit up so pretty. We went to the office and rang the doorbell and the owners/managers came out to meet us. Super friendly, explained the wifi and after some signatures we were given an old school key. Don't see those anymore. Our room was upstairs, no elevators so if you have trouble with that make sure to request the first floor. Room was clean, nothing fancy but comfortable. There is a kitchenette if you need one. Refrigerator had some waters in it. No signs up mentioning if they are complimentary so we just brought up our own. Bathroom only had towels for two and there was three of us. It was really early morning when I saw that. So we just dealt with it. Biggest complaint was the neighbors next to us were so loud, I was getting a little irritated because we had to be up at 5 am. We kept the air conditioner on all night and it kept the room nice and cool. Check out was a breeze. I would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. I didn't realize it is 20 minutes from the rodeo grounds in Kernville. Little far for us when we need to be there so early. Affordable and nice employees. read more

I decided to bring the wife up from OC to do a little fishing in the river. Made the reservations online for this place. Showed up at 3 pm or so and was greeted by one of the employees here. Very nice people. The rooms were very nice for the money. Even the wifey was pleasantly surprised and she's not easy to please! The beds was comfortable, bathroom and kitchenette was very clean. They even have dishes and utensils to prepare our sandwiches for the next day of fishing. There is no cell phone reception and the internet was a bit slow. There is not much as far as swimming pool or jacuzzi but if you want a nice, quite, clean place to stay, this place is it. I'd definitely stay again read more

Location is awesome, and if the lodge happens to be empty, it's great, but if you have neighbors well....it's hell. Walls are paper thin, in all directions. You can hear your neighbors chewing, breathing, spitting, and every bodily function there is. Don't even get me started on TV noise, or fan noise! The manager is nice and helpful but this lodge needs a strict policy about TV noise (or noise in general) past a certain hour. That's the least they can do! It's insane. read more

Nice location in between the town of Kernville and Johnsondale bridge. For those looking to fish the Kern river across the street or head up 12 miles to the bridge and hike into some pristine wild trout area... Close to town to pickup supplies, yet further up the road towards the fishing spots that are less travelled. Good service, clean rooms, and well maintained. I'm giving it a 3-star review because it was satisfactory in general. However, there were a couple of things that make it lacking: 1. The personnel walks around without a mask, even at the reception, which in California is mandatory by law; 2. The room maintenance leaves a lot to be desired, the bathtub faucet leaks, the WC requires jiggling to avoid permanent dripping; 3. Overall there are signs that the guest is not really welcome, including a warning that if dishes are left dirty in the room, there will be a charge of $25. I have 2 problems with this: guests are expected to wash the dishes and dishes from the previous guest were not professionally cleaned; 4. Any streaming service on the internet, from Nextflix, to Amazon Prime, to HBO, to Youtube is blocked, and the remainder of internet access is extremely slow. This while the hotel advertises free wifi. Next time we travel to the area we'll look for something else. read more

This is a great place to stay with wonderful hosts! Mona was wonderful and so accommodating to our needs. She really made our stay the best! Thank you, Mona!! We had room 15 with 2 queen beds on the second floor. It was roomy and had everything we needed, including a fridge, microwave and a full kitchenette with pots, pans, dishes, and silverware. Kernville is just a few minute's drive south and to the north is the amazing and beautiful country including the Johnsondale Bridge, tons of fishing along the Kern River, Trail of 100 Giants and the Ponderosa Lodge & Restaurant, Needles Pint Lookout Trailhead and so much more! read more

We arrived at 12AM but fortunately they were able to do an early checkin for us over the phone hours prior to our arrival. They had our room key already prepared in an locker box and they gave me the password over the phone so we were able to get into our room without any problems. But when we were about to shower, we noticed that we didn't have shampoo in our bathroom nor a hairdryer. However we were able to get shampoo and a hairdryer from the front desk the next morning so to us that was not a big problem at all. The staff were also very friendly and we always felt comfortable during our stay. When we first got to our room, we were amazed at how big it was. This was the first time I stayed in a room that included a kitchen, so we brought groceries to cook for breakfast. Checkout time was at 11 but they didn't seem to mind when we checked out a little late. Also, the lodge is located in a pretty good location, all you see is mountains so it really feels like a nice getaway from the city. There are many activities to do around the lodge and the front desk offers many brochures for that. We are planning to return when it snows! read more

Owner still doesn't realize he's automatically charging you for and applying "travel insurance" from the day reservation is made and that the insurance only applies to certain enumerated situations, not cancelling within hotel policy. He thinks that this "insurance" will allow him to keep your funds and you will be reimbursed by the "insurance." It's amazing that in this day and age people have no idea how their own business works - if I ran my business this way, I'd be out of business! Then, on top of it all, the guy has to stress me out and harass me via emails, and still he can't just admit he was simply wrong. read more

Just what we were looking for! Far enough away from town, quiet and secluded, however not too far from conveniences. Perfect escape along the river. The rooms are very clean with kitchenette. Very comforatable sleep. Best part was the hospitality of the management, Tina and Jeremiah, who made us feel so welcome and part of the family there who openly share details of the surrounding areas with a sense of humor..."very cool" as one reviewer states:) The saloon steakhouse is just 7 miles up the Kern River. Kerville less than 10 minute drive. PERFECT for one who want peace and quiet. Always good to bring some food, however, guests there offered us some of their barbecue. This place has everything and if I didn't have such high expectations this would be a 4-5 star. But for a lodge is very good. The decor was very plain, it was not rustic nor traditional. There was however plenty dressers, lots of storage space. The room was clean and extremely roomy. Rooms have kitchen with all utensils, dishes and pots. Kitchen table for 3. The mattress was comfy, sheets were good but the bath towel were so soft (better than Hiltons). The provide generic shampoo, conditioner and body soap but they have plenty in the room. Plenty of outlets. A/C worked good. Room had a small 32' Tv that had about 4-6 stations. No wifi or service but your in the mountains to get away from everything so you don't need it. The breakfast is not so grand. They offer juices, coffee, frozen burritos, boxes cereal and oatmeal, bagels and toast, fruit is cheap small apples and oranges (no bananas) prefect for teenagers or men that don't eat real real food. This lodge is much closer to the Sequoia then the rest of the lodges in Kernville. Across the street is the river that is breathtaking. You're surrounded by magnificent mountains. Many folks were catching fish from the river and cooking it. The hotel offers two grills and a sink in the patio area. read more

Enjoyed or stay. It's an older site but everything worked. Liked having the kitchenette in the room. Staff was competent. It's a little ways from town but we didn't mind, it's right across the road from the river. Would stay here again. We stayed off season and it's was super quiet at night. This place is family friendly with a cool BBQ area with two gas grills and a fish cleaning station. There's a dirt area that could accommodate campers or RVs. read more

We had a chance to use their bbq and sat around their picnic area to eat our dinner, that also was very clean! Booked a camp site nearby for the family but it turned out to a be a bit too rough and hot for my parents so they got a room here last minute. It's run by nice people, prices were fair especially considering it was last minute. Rooms were nice and clean with a mini kitchen with fridge. The river is just across the street. The mountain setting could not be more stunning. And the grounds are so beautifully maintained. I came here with my 93 year old Mom, whose mobility is very limited. It was so wonderful for her just to sit on the deck and take in the views. So peaceful. The rooms are spacious, clean, the beds comfy, and the kitchenette very convenient. And the Kern River is just a stroll across the road. And the location on the river is ideal - there's an area great for wading. Nature abounds, trees, mountains, birds, a great place for a reset!
