Couldnt have asked for a better location. This is my 4th time coming down and staying in kernville and this has to be my favorite spot by far. It's super close to shops restaurants and right across the street from the river park!!! We rented several rooms since there were about 10 of us. They offer rooms w kitchenettes and family rooms however dogs arent allowed in those. We also rented rooms that accommodate up to 2 dogs per room. Rooms were a little older looking but i kinda enjoyed that it adds the whole rustic woodsy feel. They give u plenty of towels and they also have a pool and ice machine on premises. The rooms all have their own patio to chill and they have a large shaded grass area w bbq pits. I look forward to my next stay here read more

GREAT Rooms, Super Clean, Easy Checkin, local to Everything In Town with A Great Location

Extremely basic and definitely outdated facility and rooms. But nonetheless, clean and hygienic. From memory, there were a couple of bottles of water provided which I think was a nice touch. There were a little sachets of shampoo, lined up, neatly. We arrived around 7 PM and didn't see an employee even though the office was open. And a sign was on the door saying the employee is on the property if missing. Yet an envelope was sticking to the door with a singular key and my name on it. This isn't welcoming and it's not a good image particularly since 7 PM is not late. I actually never interacted with the office manager as far as I'm aware because the individual was similarly absent when I checked out in the morning. I find it very interesting that if you look at the signage in one of the photos below that they're expected check-in time is 3 PM and no sooner yet you won't see an employee there at 7 PM. Does this mean the employee only works four hours per day? Here is what you should know: there is a very bizarre, almost compulsive attention to detail that makes me feel uneasy. In multiple places around the property, one of them in the room, threatening you with all the charges you will get if you 'act out'. The is also a grotesque professional sign on the gate of the pool discussing diarrhea, which made me not want to use it. This is truly excessive. The check in person was professional and assured us the room was pet free and clean. She was right! The room was very clean and was so cute inside It offered 3 beds for our family which is rare these days. The sheets were clean and bathroom was spotless with hot water. The kitchen is a great addition. The beds are comfortable and have soft blankets. The AC worked really well in the heat. The grounds are kept well and the pool was a plus! It was super clean and offered lounge chairs and umbrellas. Lots of pretty flowers as well. It's walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Parking is free and right next to each room. Lots of shady trees as well. For the price it is a great deal. We will be back again. read more

This hotel has the best location! Directly in the center of town, across from the square, you can walk to the River, to multiple resteraunts/ bars, shopping, ect. We stayed here in November of 2024 and we booked at the Kernville in for one night on a Friday and we got a king Suite. We booked on their website and it cost us $163 with taxes included. The inn is super cute! Gave us mountain cabin vibes and we loved it. The woman who checked us in was incredibly nice and very helpful. We got room 152 and the we loved that we had a view of the square from our room. Room was very spacious and clean for the price it really wasn't too bad. I would defenitly come back again and stay here. The room furtinure could use some modernizing but again for the price can't complain. The hotel also has a pool and free parking which is appreciated. Quaint, perfectly located, good staff (especially the doggo behind the front desk that begs to be pet) - I would definitely recommend this place. They have maximized the amount of rooms available and it's a quiet place to stay. I felt warm and the shower water heated up quickly. The only complaint is the stiffness of the bed but that's a personal preference others may enjoy. I will definitely be back! read more

We had several nice stays at the Inn over the last 3-4 years. So close to everything including the River. They have done a good job of upgrading a rustic property. New AC and shower since our last visit. However, two things will have us looking elsewhere for our next stay. 1- as mentioned by another reviewer, the front desk person seemed annoyed to see us and was not warm and welcoming. I could live with that but... 2- The Sportsman bar across the way blasts their music until all hours. We love music and enjoy a good band. But if I wanted to hear their music I would go to the bar. I don't want to hear it in my hotel room at midnight. It totally kills that peaceful cabin vibe that we have enjoyed in the past. We will be moving on up the road for a quieter and relaxing stay. read more

Check in was easy and they allowed me to check in a little early but it went downhill quickly from there. Window A/C was not able to keep up and ran 24/7. I was awakened by tiny spiders or Bugs in the early morning 3 of the 4 nights! (I showered each night before retiring to be sure I wasn't bringing the bugs inside from being outdoors all day). spider webs were present in the room on light fixtures etc. Dishes and silverware were not clean. Had to wash everything before use just in case. Room service was very hit and miss, untimely and practically useless when finally provided. Very cheap bath essentials provided... and never fully restocked towels etc. Office was not open the few times I tried to let them know about issues, including check out. I provided this feedback after the trip via their email request and they responded they would get back to me but still no response almost a week later. Although a convenient location I do not recommend this Motel. read more

Kernville Inn is in the heart of Kernville, across from Circle Patk where most of the eateries, bars, and shops are, and 1/2 block from River Park. The rooms are classic western style with beautiful wood paneled walls. The rooms are simple and clean. The staff is great. Be friendly. The staff works their butts off. We have been in about 15 of their rooms, from those with a single king bed, to those with two queens and a kitchenette. They've been upgrading from swamp coolers in the rooms to mini-splits. Most of the rooms are on the ground floor with easy access. We highly recommend Kernville Inn as a fantastic place to stay in the Kern River Valley. read more

Dear David, Obviously the pics are not the room at Kernville! I posted those from the Sequoia Lodge after hearing accusations only to show it for an example of rooms we rent! I am quite concerned how your handling this. The manager has lied about the room and I have witnesses that will attest to this! Your housekeepers, under oath would not lie as they are doing out of fear of loosing their job, to tell the truth. And David, the room WAS NOT TRASHED. There was the accident due to my husbands illness- ( did you skip that situation)? Most definite I nor he would EVER SMEAR feces on sinks, walls, doors etc. I thought I explained the accident on the bed, obviously it appears you are not considering my truths and don't care what I am saying. Ya know, I had allowed someone to use the restroom while I was packing that room. They will testify to its "cleanliness" and show you that Shea did this to cover up- deflecting her actions by stating the room was trashed. It isn't even in my wildest thoughts to do what I am accused of! Shame on her! Maybe you should call booking.com regarding Shea stating that they "took my payment from your hotel" and she did not have the room as paid- it was cancelled! Please consider my statement as a customer with much higher standards than your manager. I am so disappointed at your response. I would be happy to take a lie detector and you certainly my should give your employees one! Oh- by the way, view the receipt Shea attached to this- it says she only charged $100., yet she took an additional $50.00- separate and not showing on "your invoice". Even though she is also a thief, it is a crime to charge my card without my knowledge, I will take this as far as I am able. You may want to defend the unauthorized transaction with mentioning a policy that was not seen nor read, nor, as mentioned did I get any paperwork other than a map. Your manager should be fired for all the defamation and accusations she has done! Perhaps, like I suggest, you should be CLOSELY reviewing all the actions of your manager. Please, do yourself justice and re-read all of the statements and contact booking.com about how Shea accused booking.com of taking my room charge!!! Place seemed well enough maintained, shower in room was small, small bathroom sink for two (don't plan on bringing bathroom bags no room), bring your own hand soap room wasn't provided with any. Lovely mini fridge..~! Not. Couldn't work with it rubber around it was torn and wouldn't keep sealed to keep drinks cold so used an ice chest. Air Conditioning is preset so you get what you get durning your stay front desk asked us to no adjust it cuz they tend to trip. Back up fan is a small push fan. Roommate was sweating the entire stay so this place ain't on my revisit list if I'm ever again in Kernville. read more

We stayed at Kernville Inn August 25-28 during the French Fire. The Managers made room for us even when the sign said No vacancies. Our room was large and had a king size bed that was comfortable. Bathroom was clean, has a fiberglass shower unit/very clean. Small room connecting the bath has a mini fridge, coffee maker, closet and the Air Conditioning unit. The Inn has a nice looking pool, laundry machines, grass with picnic tables/ charcoal BBQ's. Several Restaurants within short walk and a micro brewery within a medium walk distance. A very nice place to stay, the managers were very friendly asking if we needed anything, adding the small town personal touch. Will recommend to friends and family. Thank You, Alan & Cindy read more

I was expecting much less from the Kernville Inn but was pleasantly surprised. We had 2 adjoining rooms; 2 queens for the kids in 1 room and a king for us. The beds were comfortable and clean as was the rest of the room. I was worried that there would be no AC but there was a window unit that kept the room cool and comfortable. The pool and pool area were nice to take a dip and sit around with a beer. The furniture, bedspreads and furniture could use an update. Walking distance to everything in Kernville. Will definitely stay again when in Kernville if I am not camping. read more

We came to Kernville to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. The online reservation process was seamless and easy. Upon arrival, I met with the manager, (I did not get his name). We spent 45 minutes getting to know one another, like old friends. He made a very compelling argument to change our dinner plans to the local Italian restaurant that was spectacular! We got to the room and we were mildly surprised by how nice it was. The room was clean. Several reviews have said the rooms were "dated". For Pete's sake, people, this is not Manhattan... Our only problem was the bed was really tall- and the toilet was really short. Go figure. We will definitely be back! read more

I have stayed at the Kernville Inn over many years. The current couple running the Inn for the past few years are just the best, by far. Ever since they took possession, the property, website, policies, and cleanliness have continued to keep improving. They know how to run the property professionally, and courteously. The rustic inn is central to everything in town, walking distance really. Rooms are very comfortable, clean, and safe. I've never found anything not working when I've checked in. Wifi in Kernville is just that, so any speed or difficulty you might have is not the fault of the property, but the remoteness of the location. Pool is crystal clear when it's open. I generally stay during the week, and noise has never been a problem for me. I have no idea about the weekend guests. Room prices are fair and agreeable. Very comfortable accommodation in Kernville. read more

If you plan to swim on the day of your check out don't count on it. Per the front desk you are no longer registered guests and may not use the pool. Like much of Kernville, the cleaning and reception staff don't care enough about their fellow citizens to wear masks and slow the spread of Covid. I saw the room cleaners going about their chores without a mask, so I was not surprised to see the booking staff without one, either. So I left, and went to another nearby hotel- same story. You could pretty much tell who the tourists were by who was wearing a mask. The Chamber of Commerce better have a talk with their merchants. I've stayed at this hotel several times in the past (3-stars) but because they can't even be bothered to wear a simple mask, I'll never spend another dollar in Kernville again. read more

Nice quaint room. Older but clean and well kept. Very friendly staff. Perfect for 2 people even though it was advertised as 2-4. Air had a hard time keeping up with the heat but not much time was spent in the room during the heat of the day. It cooled off fine at night. Loved the single story layout. It was a plus not having someone above. It is located right in the center of town. Short walk to shops and the river. In the morning I noticed a small foot locker size fridge and I thought, "Shoot, should have placed my water in here to have it cold for my ride." I found this place last minute because we were supposed to be camping but we got into kernville too late. They were the second place I called the first did not answer they thankfully had a room available for my family. She was super nice. We walked in to a clean and lovely room. My husband lived the room so much that we asked the next morning if they had anything available. We were able to get a second night and again the staff was wonderful and knowledgeable about the town and it's activities. We have decided to come back for rafting and we will make sure to stay here. Male front desk (owner manager) by the way he talked to me, Cxld our reservation because I was not passive to his way of talking to me and my family. We came from Philadelphia to visit our town I grew up in. The male who says room was not ready do to COVID cleaning was not waring a mask. If I could give a zero star I would. Holy crap!!! $99 bucks for an off-season winter rate? I was so ripped off. This place is seriously run down and just old. My mom and I visited in winter and the little heater just wouldn't heat up the room. The snagged and holey cotton throw and polyester bedspread wouldn't keep anyone warm unfortunately. And if you're like me, that bedspread was on the floor - gross!! Who uses those anymore??? Light switches were broken, everything in the bathroom had an inch of caulk around it, but the kicker was the teeny tiny shower. It makes those RV shower seem huge - and that's sad because I'm a small person. I couldn't imagine anyone over 5' being able to actually get clean. If you visit Kernville definitely avoid this place. The staff here are incredible! My family and I stayed here for 4 nights and felt right at home. Staff are very kind and accommodating and extremely sweet. Hotel has a very cool lodge/rustic feel, very clean and well maintained. There are chairs out front of the rooms and we sat out every night enjoying the outdoors. What started out as our family only needing 3 rooms, turned into 8 and Matt was very helpful and able to accommodate our family, all the staff was very polite especially the woman that checked us in, she made it easy and stress free. Everyone loved their rooms and we're already planning our next trip. Our room had a king size bad and a cute little patio area to sit and relax after a nice long day at the river. Our family loves to go to the park on our trips so the fact that the park is right across the street was very convenient. We'll definitely be going back! read more

The inn rooms a clean, and the hotel itself has a rustic character, the rooms haven't been updated or remodeled. Fine with me the bed was comfortable, TV and wifi worked. AC was loud but worked, and cancelled out the noise from next door. Right in town easy to get to the river or walk to nearby restaurants. COVID: They do have contactless cleaning/room service during the stay, and the room was clean and I felt comfortable with the cleaning protocols in place. But the check in staff were not wearing masks, and most patrons seemed to disregard it as well. No protocols were given to guests about social distancing or mask wearing and the pool appeared to be a free for all. I was able to maintain physical distance and sanitize my room on arrival so not afraid for myself. read more
