The place was packed and parking lot full. Beer was cold and chicken was hot, obviously staffing situation at hand but we managed to get an order in with the barkeeper for a BLT sandwich and a chicken dinner. BLT looked and tasted good. Chicken was delicious but crust was overcooked in the broaster. Should crunch not shatter nor be blackened. We'll give them another chance another time. read more

I've driven by this place for years as it sits above the falls. Prime property and they have a roof deck that looks like it would be great to sit on overlooking the falls on a gorgeous sunny day. A friend asked me to meet her for dinner and suggested we go here since she had not been here either. We met up on a Weds evening. They have a private parking lot that is small but there is also side street parking available. Upon entry... This is definitely a dive bar with a bunch of regulars, since they were all gathered around the bar, and some, or even just standing just to be close to the other locals. Wednesday night is trivia night. It took a bit for the one waitress on staff to notice us, and provide us with menus. My friend ordered up the fondue plate with the sausage addition. I ordered a chicken sandwich with Jojo's. As we sat there, we noticed that the cook in the kitchen kept going out the front door, and then back to the kitchen. It appeared we were the only ones waiting on a food order, and when it arrived the vegetables on the fondue plate were wilted and the bread was stale. My chicken sandwich, that was supposed to be a breast, ended up being a chicken fried chicken sandwich with some sort of processed, preformed chicken, fried patty. I don't do processed meat patties so I ate the jojos which were ok. The waitress never came and checked on us, so we had to just wait until she decided to come our way. She apologize for my sandwich and did not charge me, but my friend was charged for hers. We ended up, leaving and going over to McMenamin's to eat, since it was still happy hour. Falls View is definitely in our regular date night rotation. It's got a chill vibe, regulars, and great food at a good price. Typically we go up to the bar to order and if you're expecting a "sit down come and serve me" place then this isn't it. The staff is super friendly and work hard! Get your rear up to the bar and order your drinks and food! It's not a sit-down restaurant- it's a better-than-average dive bar. Read the room and enjoy it! We've always gotten a good pour here along with nightly beer specials on the cheap stuff. Broasted chicken is amazing- be sure to let it "rest" because it's screaming hot! Love the mustard boat- I combine the cranberry mustard and the spicy habanero for an awesome sweet/spicy combo. Sandwiches and fish and chips are great, too. I would describe the Falls View Tavern as a dive bar, that has a lot of regulars, great drinks, great food, and great service. My wife and I have been here numerous times for the Broasted Chick, which doesn't disappoint. Especially if you utilize the mustard boat, There's a reason why all the other pics of food on here are of Broasted Chicken. But this night we thought something different. I went with the chicken fried steak sammich. This was actually a nice cut of chicken fried steak, not the typical Sysco one. It was fried perfectly! Crispy and not greasy. The only thing I could have used was a little gravy on the sammich. My wife had the cheeseburger, which tasted great. Maybe the only criticism was too much bun for the burger. The Jo Jo's here are cooked to perfection! Whether you're here for the Broasted Chicken, a good cocktail, and a fun environment. You won't be disappointed! They served me fish Frozen in the center and then the cook lied to me saying it was precooked fish, don't worry. It was raw fish, and they gave me a cheeseburger to make up for it. The Patty was the kind you get in a bag at Safeway frozen. It was not good, I ate a third of it. The open mic with Mark was great, that's why I gave them 3 stars. The open mic was a 5. A word of advice to the owner. Buying cheap food product doesn't save you money. It will ruin your business. Buying high quality food product will make you money every time. Hire a cook with common sense, that helps as well. read more

I would hate to leave a 3 star review and will hopefully revise it in the future. The food was great and the beers were great. However, the venue does not follow any covid guidelines. Masks are not required (while away from a table), they don't follow the 6 foot rule between tables, and none of the tables are cleaned between guests. A guest actually had the nerve to sit down at my table without a mask on and talk-spat over my drink. I asked him nicely to move and yet everyone around us (the next table was 3 feet away) gave me nasty looks. read more

Not a pretty place and the crowd mostly seemed to have seen better days, but the bartender was Johnny-on-the-spot, poured a nice drink and the prices were reasonable. Some women we shared a table with got the fried chicken and it did look and smell delicious. I might just have to come back here to try that. 7/28/14 Update: Many people mentioned the broasted chicken so I went back to check it out. OMG! Probably the best friend chicken I've ever had. One of the last few Oregon City original bars. The staff is super friendly, the owner is a angel. Falls View Tavern is very community oriented. This is where the locals go. Live music often. They have a nice outdoor seating area with a heat lamp to keep the cold at bay. You will feel welcomed instantly. I have been going for years and made many wonderful friends. I have to admit I am biased because this is one of my local bars, with many of my friends. Falls has Oregon City's famous "broasted chicken". The city flocks in to grab some on the way home. I would give it five stars for friendships alone. They have a fair liquor selection, some micro brews and all of the usual domestics. The people who work here are very good people. They are easy to get to know, very friendly and don't slack. It is a smaller establishment, but for locals it is cozy and a little spot of old Oregon City. read more

They have created an amazing outdoor area for live music or just kicking back to enjoy some food and drink. Whenever I take pictures of the bands playing in their back patio, friends always think I'm in someone's backyard, and that's exactly how it feels. But it's the best backyard because there are these lovely people who will bring you food and drink in exchange for plastic or cash. This is the kind of place I really don't like to review - I prefer to keep gems like this for myself, but that would kind of defeat the purpose of Yelp, so. . . That said, this place is a KEEPER! I came for the chicken and left with the opinion that it was, by far, the best chicken experience I've ever had. I say "experience" because everything from the service to the seating was excellent. Then comes the chicken - five pieces totaling a full half of a chicken, perfectly broasted and seasoned with a very light coating, some hand-cut jo-jos, and garlic bread. They have inside seating, as well as a nice patio (as long as no one is smoking), and good parking. Be prepared to fight your way out of the lot, though - it empties right onto to two major traffic venues. read more

Just like the Tavern on Denver, Falls View Tavern is nothing pretty... then again, it's not trying to be. Came here on a whim as I noticed the neon Hamm's sign in the window. Little did I know it was $1.25 for a Hamm's tall boy inside. With a pool table in the middle, a surly bartender out back, this place is exactly where you should go after a good day of boating on the upper Willamette. I didn't take time to look over the menu as my eyes zeroed in on a bag of nacho cheese Corn Nuts for a $1 in a large candy jar. Other offerings included beer nuts and peanut butter & cheese sandwich crackers. I appreciate a place like the Falls View Tavern. It's authentic. It's gritty. It's stubborn. Kudos to the bartender as I watched him convince a patron to not drive home after having a few too many. Extra kudos as the bartender for flinging coasters through the air at rowdy customers and cussing loudly (f bombs left and right) at the entire bar after someone hung up the moment he picked up the phone. Next time I'm on the water, I'll be sure to end my day with a visit here. read more

Talk about a diamond in the rough. I honestly hesitate to review the Falls View and their amazing back patio space for fear it will be jam packed with people next time I venture down! Strong drinks in big glasses, served by smiling and sweet bartenders, dogs allowed on the patio and a great crowd of locals listening to live music. We had an awesome evening at the Falls View. I can't wait to return for another band and will definitely be trying some of their really yummy looking food when I return! read more

The service was fabulous, the outdoor seating area is fabulous as long as they don't let it get too crowded...but, one of the bartenders wore her mask around her neck the whole time. Coming to tables and talking away with out her mask up around her face. I want to support places like this but I refuse to if the rules are only being pretend followed. Let's assume you found a place to park. Assuming dive bars are your thing you open the door to be greeted by a mix of musty old building (I believe it dates back to the 1930's) and wet dog, which is cool since I like dogs. Order the chicken! While not as good as Reel-m-Inn it's close enough (it would be nice if they offered the six pack style condiments). This gets them three stars, step out back to an AMAZING patio often with music and it gets close to a five star dive bar. read more

Wow, what a disappointment! First. The chicken was gross. The seating and ambiance was uncomfortable. Too quiet! I spent about 20 bucks in the jukebox to keep hubs happy. The blonde server didn't move from the bar that had 4 regulars sitting there to see if we needed anything. And when I would go to the bar to beg for food or another warm beer she was totally bitchy and put out. I expected dirty, since it is a dive bar and was not disappointed there! If it wasn't Swanson chicken you served us you need to clean it before cooking. Teach your employees this lesson, If you got time to lean, you got time to clean. And locals don't make you money. Yes, it's old but it's clean (no stale beer/mildew smell), staff is super friendly and attentive. Strong drinks, great prices, and the broasted chix is excellent in both taste and price. If you like broasted chicken like I like broasted chicken, this may be place for you. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and was not over salted! The food altogether was served so hot you had to wait and savor the aroma while it cooled. Served with the chicken, good jojo's and grilled french bread. The five piece meal is a good choice, I could barely eat it all, and the price is a bargain. The microbrews on tap included a personal favorite which makes it all the better. The Mrs. enjoyed the cheese burger she ordered and liked the "not over bearing" seasoned fries that came with that decent sized burger. I enjoyed her dill pickle spear just because, and I waddled out to the car after breaking even on the state lottery poker machines. The service was top notch, the owner came by the table to chat for a few, and the bartender/server was by three times. Too bad the star rating is a 4 (this place still serves Nalley's chili, a favorite of many!) as it is clean and dog friendly older establishment. National Fried Chicken day and beautiful weather brought me here. Falls View Tavern is a Dive bar with a good sized outdoor dining and drinking area; they also serve Broasted Chicken. So on a warm July day when I had a hankerin' for fried chicken it got the nod for our evening repast. This ain't no uppity place, it is old, the outdoor tables were obviously assembled from garage sale collections and the courtyard is mostly populated with smokers. On the plus side, there are planters throughout with flowers and herbs. When you order a mojito, they pick fresh mint and muddle it, you can't get fresher than that. They also allow dogs in the outdoor area, have poop bags, dog bowls and plenty of space for well behaved dogs to stretch. Drink Prices are extremely easy on the wallet, I got a shot of Bourbon, the beer back was 25 Cents, can't beat that. The Chicken, which is delicious by the way, is 8 bucks for four pieces, with very crispy Jo-Jo's and garlic bread. Looks like I found my go-to place for a cold one in the summer. read more

The cook last night was rude and was gossiping about her customers after she got off work. She continued to glare and be rude to us through out the night. I have never had a bartender treat or do this before. Totally unheard of. My friend and I ordered two Lemon Drops. The bartender made a shaker up and poured it into one of the glasses. Then poured the remaining into the other which only filled it about an inch. She then made the comment " well that didn't turn out the way I wanted" She then took the glass that was full and poured part of it into the other glass. We were shocked. When questioning her she said it's both the same. It wasn't. We paid full price for two half full Lemon Drops. Horrible customer service. read more
