He has yet to accept responsibility for his crooked thievery actions. What a shame? Shame on Shawn for taking advantage of people while grieving. Who needs additional stress in their lives. Avoid the stress, lies, and trips to court and do business with another funeral home/director in Rochester & Syracuse, New York. I'm writing this review on behalf of an immediate family member; I have witnessed the lack of transparency and communication on part of Memories Funeral Home staff and the owner. The only communication that existed was when I initiated contact. I've been lied to on several occasions. A local Faith Base Initiative was willing to provide financial assistance. The Faith Base Initiative told me that the funeral and burial could occur while Memories was waiting for the payment in the form of a voucher. Memories was unwilling to wait and offered to conduct the funeral, and hold on to my relative's remains until they received the entire balance. I managed to secure the payment and paid the balance in full. Memories has been overpaid, and I'm still waiting on a refund 10 months later. Please do your research, there are other funeral homes that provide professional and less stressful business dealings. If you decide to do business with Memories, have all your documentation together. Get everything in writting. If it was possible to rate them 0 stars, I would have gladly done so. Unfortunately, 1 star is the lowest you can rate them. I will add pics later on. UPDATE reimbursement check finally received on 10/14/25. I thought this day would never occur!

Don is a typical sales person and tells you what he thinks you want to hear. He doesn't care about your loved one and will show no respect to you. I have an email from Don dated May 23rd and he states mom's stone will be placed "within the week"...her stone was finally placed September 9th, just 3 days shy of a full year since she passed. Don blamed the cemetery and Don blamed me but never once took responsibility for the fact that he dropped the ball. If you call and leave a message Don will not call you back but when you call him again he will tell you "you're on my list to call". McGee had mom's stone sitting there for over 20 years, she passed away September 12, 2022. It took McGee almost an entire year to put her end date and set her stone in the cemetery. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
