We first came to Tuan at Family Auto Care to service our 10+ year Nissan Versa. We were looking for competitve pricing to service the car since all the shops around seemed a but overpriced. We saw Family Auto Care and decided to visit. Tuan is a very amicable and a straightforward about pricing and service! He was able to give a full breakdown of the services we requested at a pricepoint that beat out other shops in the area! He also serviced the car quickly for the amount of maintenance that was needed, and it ran great afterwards. Tuan also shared his many years of experience under Toyota and Honda, and he openly displays his certifications and achievements from his career before sending us on our way. Now I am taking the Versa back another round of maintenance and Tuan was able to take me in at sudden notice. Still offered a great price and timely service! If you're in the area, I'd highly recommend giving Family Auto Care a try. From Tuan's experience, Japanese cars seem to be his specialty, so I would keep that in mind. Another visit at Family Auto Care. This time i went in for replacement shocks and struts, along with some converting parts from OEM to the new shock n struts. And also alignment for after suspension parts replacing. Tuan, & his team got my car done in about 1 and half days. My car was already done an hr before noon the next day. Tuan called, and told me my car was ready. When i arrived there for pickup, they even washed my car for me. I was suprised coming to a clean car too. Tuan is absolutely amazing and incredibly knowledgeable, with top-tier customer service!!! I called in looking for a 4-wheel alignment for my 2017 Lexus GX460 after getting new tires from Costco. Tuan was able to give me a clear breakdown of price, steps he'll take, and how quickly he could get the job done, which ended up being immediately. I was able to bring in my car 15 mins later and was warmly greeted by Tuan. He showed me all his credentials (see attached) and shared his background; it was clear that he is genuinely super passionate about cars and really cares about his work/customers After completing the alignment, he showed me all the data and explained everything thoroughly. The entire passenger side had significant camber misalignment. On top of that, he caught that Costco failed to properly inflate my passenger-side tires. They were sitting at 17 PSI instead of 32 PSI. When I originally asked Costco about this, they claimed it was just the TPMS needing calibration and told me to drive on the freeway for a few miles for it to go away. That clearly wasn't the case and was pretty disappointing on Costco's end. Tuan was also able to identify issues related to a leaking ball joint, which he advised some follow up/next steps with. Overall, Tuan did an incredible job and sets the standard for quality auto care/customer service. I brought my Tesla Model Y in for a tire rotation and balance service. Toward the end of the appointment, I was informed that the rotation could not be performed because the front and rear tires are different sizes, something that should have been identified before any work began. Despite the rotation not being completed, I was still charged the full price for both the rotation and balance. A reputable shop would have recognized the tire size difference upfront and adjusted the charge accordingly. Tuan is the NEW owner of this business. Tuan is an empathetic, kind, honest and no-nonsense mechanic. My steering wheel on my Tesla was vibrating at higher speeds, thinking I need a wheel alignment I arrived to his shop. Even though he closes shop at 3:00 p.m on Saturday, and I arrived at 2:45 p.m, he still provided me an estimate and suggested he needs 1+ hrs to fix the problem. So instead of sending me away, he asked me to wait in his waiting room and took his time and correctly fixed the problem. He rotated the tires, wheel balanced it and suggested a wheel alignment is warranted once I replace the tires. His advise was sound and warranted. He also mentioned that I can come back to him next week in case I feel the vibrations on the steering wheel again. His price was also reasonable for the service he provided. Called and got quoted $140 for an oil change and $140 to check the "check engine light". Never had an auto place tell me they'd charge me to check what's wrong before even fixing anything lol. Went down the street to another place and got an oil change for $100 and when they checked the light, they sold me a $12 gas cap that fixed the check engine light (needed a new one). So not a review on service, but they definitely seem to be price gouging. Take with that what you will. read more

HANDS DOWN the best service in town! My car had a detached rear bumper, some paint scratches, and pieces that fell out of place after a minor accident. Although David's shop does not work on body parts, he took the time to look at the pictures of my car that I sent him, and gave me a ballpark estimate to work with. I was so impressed and thankful that he got back to me so quickly, despite it being past closing time and that I contacted him so last minute. Fortunately, he said that this was something he could fix, and when I brought it over to his shop the next morning, they had it ready by the afternoon. David quoted me a very reasonable price, and even offered it for lower than what he initially said. His work was quick, honest, flawless, and customer focused. I've been coming here for all my car services for the past 5 years without any issues. These guys are fair and honest and they do good work. Yesterday I picked up my car after the normal maintenance, paid and left. David the manager (owner?) called me back to say that he charged me for a cabin filter replacement that the mechanic never did it. I went back and he refunded me the money. The owner was so professional and helpful! I gave a call and he squeezed me in right before Christmas. He was super understanding and gave me extra tips about everything. Definitely a car shop you can trust! I originally asked for all my brakes to be replaced, but after looking it over the owner said only my front brakes and rotors needed to be replaced, and to clean the rear brakes. They also have very fair labor rates and not crazy long hours either. What an amazing find! If I lived in the area, this would be the shop I would consistently come back to. I had car trouble 3 years ago. The tow truck driver from Fortes Towing suggested Family Auto, I had only one vehicle at the time, and the owner David first dropped me off at my house, roughly a ten minute drive down Mary avenue to where I live near Serra Park, and then picked me up at the end of the day, so I could drive home in the vehicle he just serviced. This all happened in one day. I'm not posting the David is a transportation platform, with his shop, what I'm trying to say, is right away, I felt like I had someone looking out for my best interest in mind, and experienced first hand, a shop owner, on a Friday, willing to sacrifice his time to help me, and every time I have serviced a vehicle with Family Auto since it has met the same parallel of ethics, trust, compassion and loyalty that you just don't see or experience anymore. He, David, and his mechanics and shop are all the last of its kind in this region. It's the comforting feeling that you are dropping your car off at your brothers house, where you have nothing to fear, you are going to be taken care of. BAD AUTO SHOP.. BEWARE So he responded.. He said When check the car I told you hose is leaking & hose come with air spring & reservoir. u didn't want to change it because u can not afford fix it right.... I did with no warranty. First of all hoses are not permanently attached to air spring - they can be purchased separately. A good mechanic will should not continue the job if he knows it is not going to work. Instead, he jury rigged the hose by putting a shop hose he can find in his shop and charged me over $1,000. I told him I will buy the right hose from the dealer and all he has to do is install it at no charge. He does not want to do it. I am not recommending this Fred guy from Family Auto Care. STAY AWAY and Bring your business else where. Pass it on and save your self $$ and frustration. This is not a fair and good repair shop. They talk nice but really it's about talking your money. Great customer service. We came in here because we thought 2 of our tires on the car needed to be replaced. We went to an auto shop the day before and they told us we needed to replace 2 tires and that it would cost us $380 and take about 1.5 hours -- even with an appointment. Then we took the car the next morning to Family Auto Care and David Chang took a look at the tires and said they were fine and there was only minor cosmetic issues only with them and to save our money. He even educated us on tires some and said that even if we did have to get the tires replaced that it would have taken about 20 minutes. First off, I have to apologize: David, I'm sorry it's taken me this long to write this review. You see, I sing David's praises whenever I get the chance and recommend him to anyone who seeks a great, trustworthy mechanic. I first found Family Auto Care via Yelp reviews back in 2011. Back then, it was located in a small building in Mountain View. My 2003 Toyota 4Runner had finally aged out of its 7-year/100,000 mile extended warranty and I wanted to find a mechanic who would take care of its scheduled maintenance without charging me an arm, leg, and kidney for it (like a dealership would). Seven years and more than 95,000 miles later, my 4Runner "Bruce" is still running like a dream and David deserves all the credit for that. In the ensuing years, I've had to have very little extra work on Bruce, and I firmly believe it is because David's helped me take such good care of him. Bruce has had a few unplanned repairs, but David is both a thorough and conscientious mechanic. A few years back, a (now ex-) boyfriend (lets call him "M"), who was very knowledgeable regarding cars and innately skeptical of all mechanics, grilled David when David informed me that my catalytic converter had died. M asked questions of David for a good half hour, and David fielded those questions with patience. In the end, M gave David his stamp of approval, and lamented that his own car was still under warranty; he added that if it wasn't, he'd be taking it to David for service. Another time, I was on the Wolfe on-ramp to 280 and alarms I had never heard before, started screeching. There were warning lights all over my dash and I pulled over. I immediately called David and he advised me to drive as carefully as I could to his shop. En route, I discovered that my brakes were out; I managed to get to David's shop on surface streets and using my parking brake to help me stop. I had to get to work, and David dropped me off at Caltrain (something he's done for other customers, as a few of them have stated). Later that day, he informed me that my ABS unit had stopped (*rimshot*) working and I'd need a replacement. He informed me that a new one would cost about $3000, but that he could find me a good used one which would cost me a comparitively cheaper $1800. Four years later, that used ABS unit is still working just fine. He went above and beyond in repairs needed on my husband's 2002 Nissan Frontier...but I fear I need to wrap this up soon. (I've been accused of being a bit verbose; I know, shocking, isn't it?) My husband and I have since bought a house in Roseville (because we don't have an extra $2million lying around) and one thing I will miss is having a mechanic I can trust as implicitly as I do David. In fact, we drove to San Jose and left Bruce with David, so that David could do one last oil change, one more diagnostic look-see to make sure things were okay, and fix my windshield washers. I'm actually getting a little wistful that my Brucey will no longer be cared for by the best. But please make me and Brucey happy...and entrust the care to your cars to David.
