Paid $900, supplied my own part, told him not to guess. He guessed. Misfire still active. Brought my 2015 VW GTI in for a confirmed cylinder 2 misfire (P0302). I had already done my own diagnostics before drop-off -- swapped the coil pack and spark plug to other cylinders, misfire stayed on cylinder 2, ruling both out. He quoted $600 over the phone using his own parts, which I agreed to. When I showed up, he pulled a bait-and-switch: he would only honor the $600 price if I supplied my own part. I had an OEM Bosch fuel injector at home but hadn't brought it because the original agreement was that he would supply parts. He knew this and still changed the terms at drop-off, forcing me to go home, retrieve my own part, and return -- just to hold him to a price he had already quoted. I told him directly: I do not want this injector thrown in if it isn't confirmed as the cause. I want the misfire fixed. He acknowledged this. He then told me it was 90% likely the coil or plug -- the exact two components I had already tested and eliminated. He installed my injector anyway without confirming it was the fault. It didn't fix the misfire. The quote continued to change. $600 on the phone became $650 in person. He then added carbon cleaning and quoted $900 total. Later he texted $1,000. I had to remind him of his own quote -- he agreed and admitted he didn't remember what he said. I wrote "Cyl 2 misfire" on the work order as the service requested and signed it. He called at 2:25pm saying the car was fixed. I paid $900 and drove home with the engine stumbling worse than before. Scanned the car at home -- P0302 still active and confirmed. A new fault code also appeared that was not present before drop-off. I returned to the shop in good faith and gave them the opportunity to make it right before taking any further action. They refused. $900 paid. My own part used. Bait-and-switch on parts and price. Explicit instructions ignored. Misfire unresolved. Car running worse. BAR complaint filed. read more

I believed my audi a6 was leaking oil and took it here for a quick and free inspection, and it turned out my car was not leaking oil and the mechanic (I sadly forgot his name). He showed me underneath my car that it was spotless, I paid for an oil and filter change, and it was done fast. I never checked underneath my car to verify it was oil turns out it was just ac condensation , I am very happy with the service and value I got from my visit. I generally don't leave reviews for non-food businesses but had to leave a shoutout here for Mike. Found this place on Yelp. We had an issue with the coolant leaking in the A4 (2013) for over 3 months, and our way to work around it was to top it up with water before we took the car out. When the leakage became persistent (frequent low coolant warnings), I gave them a call and Mike asked me to bring the car in for a visual inspection the very morning. He gave us a reasonable estimate (even the tiniest of parts in german cars are so damn expensive!) and we had our car back within a day. Mike is extremely knowledgeable, trustworthy, and does a great job communicating what needs to be done as well as what was done - he keeps me involved in the process of problem solving when he works on my car. This place is not good. I had taken my car in as I had issues with AC blowing hot air. There were few issues in the overall transaction - 1. He charged me for diagnosis and was unable to find the issue. Initially he had promised he would use the diagnosis fee for ac recharge but did not do it until I posted a review about it; at which point he agreed to do what he had promised. 2. He then said the best course of action is to keep re-charging the AC gas every few months. 3. So I did a few times with him. I happened to take my car to Stress Free Auto Care for a gas recharge one time and they immediately diagnosed the underlying issue. Meanwhile I realized this guy tried to make money off me by suggesting I go to him every few months and charging me AC recharge instead of fixing the issue. Would not recommend. Also the owner is quite grumpy and gets annoyed even if you ask basic questions. Also I personally do not trust the other 5 star reviews. Last time I tried to leave a bad review, he called me to offer a better price to delete the review as otherwise he said I would be hurting a small business. So this might be a pattern of his when he gets bad reviews. Update: After this review, he just called me again in an unfriendly tone as he was not happy with my review. read more

Initially sent in a quote request via Yelp! Responded quickly within 90 minutes with a recommendation to visit for a diagnostic. Went a couple of days later for a free diagnostic. I had a list of urgent and expensive repairs given from a dealership service center from a previous visit. MB raised up the car, took a look and told me that only one of the repairs was needed. He gave a quote for the repair which was 30% less than the dealer quote. I brought the car back again the next week in the morning and it was done by the end of the day. MB has been servicing cars for a long time and his experience shows. His business acumen also shows which explains why he has been at this for so long. I doubt that there's anyone out there with more experience than him in German cars in such an independent service business. He's also friendly, funny, and full of worldly wisdom. I've always felt that he's honest and reliable. I've saved a ton of money by going to him instead of the dealerships, which typically point out frivolous services and scare you into getting expensive fixes. He has literally saved thousands of dollars for us. He's also very smart and gives you great tips for running your car smoothly, for example, why you should always buy high octane gas. Called back and talked to a Tony and scheduled my appointment the day before I needed and no issues. Got my car serviced (oil change) and also Mike was able to show me some error codes while he did diagnostics when he was checking things out. I knew I had a check engine light that would come on and off randomly, but never got it checked. He explained some options, no pressure and even said just to monitor the issue, but made me aware. Time strikes again on the e90 08 328i which i will add has been fun to drive, and reliable within reason. Smelled some gasoline at the bottom and as luck had it with age the fuel pump regulator had gone downhill, I diagnosed it myself and knew that near 120k miles this thing would go out. Again, I know how to do the job and could've easily diy but I thought of staying local given the current economy so I hitup the shop. They took me in same day, ordered the parts, put them on, and that was it. They're a very busy store so you're in luck to get the same day service, which most of the time is the case, they'll hook you up. It's a shop nonetheless and with so many liars in the bay area i'd rather gamble my coins here. PS i got quoted fuel tank, gaskets, individual units, at other places none of which addressed the real issue (which i'll restate, i knew beforehand).
