To be sure, they wanted a large sum of money just to investigate the source (even though Subaru's own technical guidance referred specifically to 3 likely sources), then the repair itself. I took my car to Advanced Auto Repair for a second opinion. They were methodical in looking for the water leak. They removed the back interior panels to expose the area, then the car went through a car wash and inspected. They found the leak and repaired it. The cost to me was hundreds less the Subaru dealership. The folks here treated me with respect, kindness and really listened to my concerns. They are excellent at what they do, with honesty and integrity. I highly recommend them.

My 1992 Honda Civic VX had developed an annoying squeak/rattle in the back that I had no idea what…read morewas causing it. I listened carefully to pinpoint, plus lubricated the entire rear hatch seal with Honda Shin-ETSU silicone grease, but no luck. Finally it was time to take my car to a body shop to see if a pro could fix the squeak. I asked my good car service shop, Foreign Affair, for their recommendation, and Tim there recommended Autobahn Body & Paint in Mountain View. Peter at Autobahn was the squeak/rattle expert, and on my visit there he drove the car on a short loop over a bumpy street so he could hear the noise. Then back at the shop's parking lot, he thumped and bounced and shook the car trying to poinpoint the sound. Nothing. Then over the next several days he coached me on places to lubricate the car -- hinges and latches and what kind of oil/lube to use. One at a time, in order, so we'd KNOW which spot fixed the noise. Bingo! Spot three was the winner! The noise was coming from the center latch and hook between the bottom of the rear window and the top of the tailgate. Lubricating that latch with lithium grease quieted the car, so wonderful to have that annoying, loud squeak/rattle finally gone! I really appreciate Peter's experience and methodical approach to diagnose this VERY difficult to find noise! I recommend Autobahn Body & Paint to anyone with a mysterious car body sound that is driving them crazy. I also appreciate Peter's professionalism and keeping costs down by involving me in the diagnosis and fix.

I brought it in, and Peter immediately knew what was wrong. He fixed it and bent it back into shape in less than a minute! The office staff was professional, communication was good, and the shop was clean. In addition to changing my oil, they did a detailed overall inspection, which included a battery stress test, engine, brakes, and undercarriage. The full report, which included photos, was emailed to me and I was impressed by how comprehensive it was. If you just need an oil change and can do the minor maintenance and inspections yourself, then it will be a bit pricy at this shop (~$170). However, if you want someone else to do all that, it would be cheaper than a dealership.

It was beyond rude what they did. I am so angry and frustrated I am on the brink of tears. I feel gaslighted and humiliated. They admitted rodents got into my car during the repair (in my 30 years of life I have never had rodents come into my car), rodents bit off my center console and tore apart my back seat. My FOB key which ALWAYS worked before their repair, is no longer working. Although they fixed the center console and backseat later on, they acted like they did US a huge favor even though it was their fault. They claimed they fixed the FOB key but after a day, my FOB key no longer works anymore. The owner gaslighted me and kept insisting it wasn't their doing even though rodents bit through the car and could have affected the wiring. They admitted that rodents got into the car. How come my FOB key was working perfectly fine before you touched my car? If I paid you a good sum of money to FIX my car, I shouldn't have to come out with issues that COST ME MONEY TO FIX AFTER. I TRUSTED YOU AND I TRUSTED MY CAR IN YOUR CARE. You act like it's a huge favor to fix what happened to my car during your care when those things weren't supposed to happen anyways and I PAID you to fix my car, not cause further inconveniences and a broken FOB key. I literally had to drive back and forth so many times to their shop because of the issues that they caused after their "repair". I should have known it was red flag central when they informed me I could pick up my car and when I spent a good sum of money in lyft rides (their shop is far away from my place) and gave up my rental car early to come get my car, they told me my car battery was mysteriously drained and they didn't know what happened. I had to come back home without my car and get greatly inconvenienced the whole day because I already returned my rental and had to grab lyfts back and forth for work and errands. I had tried to let this go because I just wanted the whole thing to be over with, but that should have been a red flag from the start. Interestingly, my car battery was drained that day and I wonder why. Was it due to negligence where they left my car door open the whole night and is that how the rodents got in? Now my FOB key no longer works and the owner claims it wasn't related to their shop even though the FOB key worked perfectly fine before my car entered their shop. I feel so gaslighted and appalled by how they treated me and how they gaslighted me into thinking that me asking them to fix things that their shop caused is somehow my fault. They play mind games because they don't want to admit fault when things go wrong. I suspect they didn't want to admit fault with the FOB key because they just didn't want to spend the money fixing what they broke and FOB keys are more expensive to fix. I been looking through the reviews and there are several people that were upset with the service and More than one person spoke of filing a BAR complaint and I saw a review saying this business has a F rating on BBB. What did you do to get a F rating on BBB lol! I saw other reviews that claimed the owner threatened them for their one star reviews. I am thinking of filing a BAR complaint myself after how they treated me like it was a huge favor for them to fix what they caused and gaslight me and make me feel bad for what they caused. How dare you break my FOB key and pretend to fix it and then blame it on me when clearly something wrong happened in your shop that most likely caused it? I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was a business owner and tried to blame customers for what I did. How dare you. How dare you make me feel little and how dare you act like I am inconveniencing you when you caused harm to me? read more

I recently learned that my car had an oil leak. The first place identified the problem as the timing cover and quoted me $2k. For due diligence I went around shopping for quotes. The second place also identified that the leak was coming from the timing cover and quoted me ~$600 to fix. Then I came here. The entire group here was friendly, welcoming, and funny to boot. They investigated the car, and found that the leak is not from the timing cover, but the timing chain tensioner. I was horribly confused and stressed out. The last thing I needed was to have conflicting results with my car on top of all the other life stress. I didn't want to end up paying and fixing the wrong thing, especially with such different price points. I had asked if there was a leak test we could run, but the cost of that would have been the same as changing the chain or even a little bit more. They told me what we can do: they can change the chain, I can drive the car around for a few days, and when I feel good about it I can come back in to have the leak double checked that it is fixed, and then I could pay. Who hands out offers like these?! It was very generous of them. I took them up on it. Lo and behold, I come back a few days later to get it checked out again and all is good. No leak :) phew!!! They even fixed this little odd whining sound that was coming from the car. At the end of this whole ordeal I was ready to pay. As I was taking my wallet out, they told me not to worry about it and that this first service was on the house. I was shocked. Who on earth does this? No one I tell you! I would have never found this place if my car never developed a leak. I look forward to having my car serviced here in the future and happy to say I finally have a regular car mechanic. read more

Well they must doing well, because I got treated poorly. First Mo, Mohamed, name is no good he's crafty and starts his relationship with a fake name. Mo. He's acting as mgr, he's not the owner so make sure you go after the correct person. The owner.April Kathryn Woods is the owner. Mo was such the nicest sales man. Then morphs into a nightmare, he literally told me I got your car now, insinuating that he's got me by the balls now.after I commented to towing it there. I told Mo my dads very old and not doing well, please fix ASAP. So I contacted him to put another working engine in a 65 classic. He does this but keeps the new carburetor from the other engine. He keeps the new carburetor because it wasn't stipulated that he had to remove the new carburetor and put it into the engine he put into 65 classic. After a year of excuses my dad dies. I m feed up of his excuses so I demand the car back or I ll write a negative review. He keeps the car threatening with a lean sale, then arrange a a notary for me to sign before he will release the car to me. He forced me to sign that I will not write a negative review or sue him as the family classic car as hostage. Mo is the shadiest shifty eyed guy I ever had the misfortune to run into. I recon I was fooled by all those great reviews. Soon as our relationship went sour he pulls car out of the building and right two major storms. So the classic is a 65 convertible with a torn roof, I got the car back soaked minus a carburetor. This guy had me sign a contract under duress. That's this place that's my 100% truth and experience. My 81 corvette needed general repairs and maintenance (change fluids, AC not working, squeaky noise coming from rear wheels) since it's been sitting for a long time and I was planning a road trip when the weather warms up so it needed to be in top shape. I called De Anza Auto because I read the reviews and they seemed to be very knowledgeable in a variety of cars including older ones. I spoke with Mo who was very professional and honest, gave me a reasonable quote and laid out a clear timeline as to when it should be done so I brought it over. After initial inspection, it turned out that it needed a few more items to be addressed (worn out bushings, deteriorated vacuum hoses) so without being pushy, Mo clearly explained the extra repairs and why he felt that they're important to get done specially since I was planning to drive my classic car for a long trip. I authorized all the work and patiently waited for my car to come back to life. About a week later, and on schedule, Mo calls me to come and pick up my corvette. He walks me through all the work that was performed and gave me recommendations for future work needed. I felt very comfortable dealing with him. Driving the car home was such a treat because it felt and drove so much better. They did an excellent job reviving it and I felt that they took extra care of it as if it was their own. This place is awesome! Their method of providing information is done in an organized and user-friendly way, making everything a breeze. You receive detailed estimates and inspection results complete with photos, giving you a clear picture of your vehicle's condition. Moreover, the staff members are incredibly professional and accommodating. Recently, I encountered a persistent issue with both my battery and alternator. After the inspection, we found ourselves stranded as we weren't sure how to move the car, and we were about to resort to just pushing it with three people. However, considering it was rush hour, pushing it all the way home posed a considerable risk, despite the short 8-minute distance. I explained my situation to the manager, who showed immense kindness by allowing a skilled technician to accompany us. They attached a battery jump starter pack to my car's battery while we drove it, because it was the only way to start the car and safely bring it home without paying for a tow or for the storage fee at their shop. These reviews must be fake because I had the worst experience in this con run "repair" shop. They must be on drugs if they think their store repairs anything, because the moment you leave your car here, say goodbye, because they are going to wreck it harder than any damaged condition it came in. They will damage your car and pretend it was damaged before their "repair". I hope they get sued. They have a F grade rating on BBB, and if you look deeper into the one star reviews you will see deep red flags. They will not take accountability. Don't let these con artists touch your car. It makes sense they have a F rating considering that I am now questioning if they even KNOW how to fix cars since they will RUIN your car instead of fixing it, and on BBB you can see they don't have the proper licensing! This repair shop is by far the most honest and well respectable repair shop I've seen around town. I mainly talked to Mike about my car repair (brake master cylinder) and he was extremely friendly and super willing to help out. I felt like I was talking to a friend instead of someone trying to do business with me. He did not try to make excuses, but was very up front with all that was wrong with my car. He even gave me a mini lesson on how brakes work and why I need some parts. This is definitely different from the services I have been receiving from other repair shops. They were also extremely on schedule with the repair. I needed the car by the end of the day and although I saw a lot of cars in the shop when I arrived, they were able to meet the schedule and have my car finished in time. I took my Lexus to deanza auto repair for noise under hood and after 1 hour scratching their head under hood the owner told me power steering pump is bad and I asked him r u going to install a new one?? And he said yes but after a month noise started so I took it back but becous I didn't have the receipt w me he loaded me w bunch a f words and I took it to another shop they told me only the seal was replaced not even the bearing, so he will deal w law on that one. But please do urself a faver and don't take ur car there unless u want to pay for bunch of lies, very bad experience since the owner is changed and shop is like pigsty. read more

I really love the atmosphere at this place. First of all, Mo was a great person to talk to! We were talking about my car and he noticed the bumper on my car was damaged very heavily. I have driven the car like that for about 4 years but did not bother to fix it because when I asked different repair shops and Honda dealer, all of them asked about $1000 to replace the bumper. However, Mo said even though he couldn't replace it, he could fix it up for FREE! I didn't expect it to be so great (since it is free), however, the fix exceeded my expectations. It simply does not get any better. These folks know what they are doing. My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee would not start and after doing my own trouble shooting, I had to give up. There were no DTCs, proper fuel pressure was in the injector rail, the Camshaft Position Sensor was emitting logic level pulses, but the injectors were not activating. It was towed to the shop Monday around noon. Got a call Tuesday circa 3pm that it would be ready soon, the Crankshaft position sensor had failed. read more

Beware of this shop! I brought in my 2007 Civic because of a knocking sound when turning the steering wheel. Instead of diagnosing the actual issue, they just changed the power steering fluid, which didn't fix the problem at all. To make matters worse, they charged an outrageous amount for something that wasn't even needed. I was selling a car and the potential buyer took it here to get a neutral opinion on its condition. The guys at De Anza auto repair were very honest and fair in their assessement, pointing out certain things that can be done to the car. Vu took it immediately for a test drive with me in the passenger seat. He could feel the same issue I did. He then put it on the lift and inspected it thoroughly. He wasn't sure of the issue exactly but was transparent in the discussion and thinking. Given the car had been worked on recently by others, I can understand why he would be hesitant to take it on. He considered his best recommended repair with available information but wasn't pushing it, as it's a pricey repair. Looking to get a second opinion, he then had a different co-worker take another look. The co-worker slid under the car and was able to identify an issue, which was a loose bolt from the prior mechanic. The team right then lifted the car and tightened all the bolts, then took it on a second test drive, and the sounds went away and the steering issue seemed improved. Vu spent about an hour on this work combined with another 15-20 minutes from two or three other people too. After all that, he told me not to pay anything, though I offered! He could have pushed the more expensive repair and I would have very likely gone ahead with it, but he didn't. I need to test drive it further to see how it ddrives, but Vu said if still having issues to come back then to discuss where we go from there. Even though Vu was single handed and getting multiple phone calls, Vu was still very patient in discussing repair options. Dropped off my car around 9:30am and got a call back around 2:30pm saying repair was completed. Instead of having a couple of sensors replaced (~$300), Vu said he had found and replaced a rat chewed cable connector (~$60) that resolved check engine light. He charged me for cable connector and honest labor, and car is running fine again. I know where I will be taking my car for any future repairs.

Great experience with Alirio's Garage…read more My 2018 Infiniti QX80 (202k miles) developed a low-RPM hesitation/shudder during light acceleration. After doing some research, it appeared to be related to aging transmission fluid and the torque converter. When I contacted Jorge at Alirio's Garage, he immediately understood what I was describing and was willing to do the service properly rather than just a quick drain-and-fill. He performed a full transmission service including dropping the pan, cleaning the magnets, servicing the internal filter, and doing multiple staged fluid exchanges using OEM-spec transmission fluid so the old fluid in the torque converter and lines was actually replaced. The result was immediate -- the hesitation is completely gone and the vehicle drives smoothly again. What impressed me most was Jorge's honesty and attention to detail. He scanned the transmission control module beforehand to make sure there were no codes. He even pointed out some rust around the transmission pan drain area and recommended replacing the pan at a future service, but he didn't try to upsell the repair now. If you're looking for an honest and knowledgeable mechanic in Santa Clara, I would absolutely recommend Alirio's Garage. I'll definitely be back.

Only then was I told that the repair hadn't been completed and I would need to come back the following week. I do not have the ability to return due to my travel schedule, which I clearly communicated from the start. The issue is not that the work wasn't done--it's that I was led to believe it would be. Had they been upfront about their capacity, I would have gone elsewhere to avoid being put in this stressful situation right before a long drive. Extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency and reliability. I would not return based on this experience.
