Farmers Choice. Bacon, Scrambled Eggs, home fries, toast, sausage (links and patties), with French toach.

We were drawn in from their sign saying "best waffles in town" as they are located right next to Waffle House. We arrived at 9:50 on a Saturday morning and only had a a couple minute wait before being seated. Our waitress was beyond friendly. She was so helpful and funny. She really made our breakfast experience so much better. I wish I knew her name to give her props! (She's a teacher and lacrosse coach! Way to go, girl!) Within 20 minutes of arriving, we had our food. We all ordered the breakfast special. Which was so much food, but allowed all of us the opportunity to try everything. The bacon was super crispy as requested and delicious! The sausage was good, links were better than the patties IMO! I loved the French Toast more than the waffles/pancakes. Our friends really enjoyed their biscuits and gravy. We loved the barn/cow decor! There was even a real (alcohol) bar that we didn't see until we walked out! 10/10 would recommend! This was by far our favorite breakfast place we had during our stay!

When I visit my mom in South Carolina, I always have plenty of time in the mornings to eat breakfast. Since I rarely use this time because I can never find quality food as good as what I make at home, I rarely go out. While searching through Yelp. I saw that this place was known for having the best grits in the area, and boy, they were right. The grits were fantastic and creamy. The eggs were over easy and perfect, and the patties had a nice spice to them. I washed it all down with a Lynchburg iced tea with Jack Daniels whiskey, and it was the best breakfast I've had outside of my own home in a long time. I hate that I only come here a couple of times a year, but every time I do, I definitely plan to stop by.

Southern Hospitality at its finest ! My grandfather and I were stranded in Surfside, Myrtle Beach, we were looking for some good Ol Country Cooking. We stumbled upon this hidden gem. We were treated like family the moment we walked in the door. Family Barn filled not only our belly's with unforgettable corn bread and perfectly seasoned catfish, but our hearts with love. We know first hand why this restaurant is called The Family Barn- special hello to Kailyn. We appreciated your kind words and keeping us calm thru our ordeal. See you again

I ordered a new special salad they were offering... it was supposed to be romaine lettuce... it was iceberg... not a fan... I noticed that also there was no black beans on it.. the waitress said oh sorry we don't have romaine or black beans... I said it's on the menu... I eat my salad... I looked at hubby.. said no cheese either.. Called her over ..ask for a menu... point out all of the differences.. She gets the manager... I said if you are going to put a special salad on a menu .. make sure you have the ingredients.. I said iceberg lettuce is not romaine.. she said no one notices.. I said wrong... I did!! She said well you are almost done you should have said something earlier... I said I did!!! They did give me a discount.. it's the principle.. you don't argue with a customer...

Kim was an excellent waitress. She kept my coffee filled and was quick to bring anything we asked for. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak was crispy. It was sitting on a bed of gravy which ended up being the perfect amount. It had good seasoning the breading and the gravy. The home fries were cut to the perfect size. They were seasoned well and were nice and crispy. My over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. The raisin bread toast was sooo good. The restaurant has a cozy family feel. My friend had the Florentine omelet. She said she gave two thumbs up and a toe. She also commented on how good the home fries were. I will definitely be back when I come to visit friends.

Shrimp n Grits (ate me a shrimp before taking the photo ;) ) and a biscuit. Yum!

Shrimp n grits was amazing! The biscuits are homemade. The service was exemplary! Sweet southern charm! We will be back!

Fathers Day breakfast for the hubster. The restaurant was very clean and the farmhouse decor was very cute. All of the staff, from the hostess to the waitresses, were so pleasant, warm, and inviting. The menu is very simple with minimal substitutions are allowed to keep the kitchen staff efficient. The hubster ordered the fried bologna with 2 sunny side up eggs - sandwich and said it was delicious. I ordered the one egg with grits and wheat toast. Our food was brought out quickly without any issues.

Hubby had Chicken fried steak and I had the Breakfast bowl with side of grits. Yummmm

Seriously one of the best breakfast in the area! Always great food and service. Definitely best grits around. Been coming here 3 years never disappointed!

Decided to stop in for some breakfast before getting the day started; last day visiting. Ordered the Farmers Special and One Egg entree that came with wheat toast & grits. Also ordered a half order of French toast. The French toast was tasty. It came out hot, but it didn't hold the temperature long. I'm learning once it gets cold, it's no longer as good when hot. The One egg entree was just the right amount of food. I requested scrambled WITH cheese and the eggs came out scrambled with a slice of cheese lightly melted on top. That was a disappointment. The grits were thick & creamy and hot. With the Farmers Special, you get a little bit of everything; two strips of bacon, one sausage link, one sausage patty, three scrambled eggs, home fries & one plate size pancake. Overall, the food was just okay. Now, the customer service received was OUTSTANDING!!!! That in itself, to me, I'll give 5 . If I had to describe the vibe of the restaurant, it puts you in the mind of a more dialed back Cracker Barrel without the store front. Not a lot, but just a tiny bit.

If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. I had some business to attend to in South Myrtle Beach and as I finished up I started to get hungry…read morefor lunch. Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.
