We come to Myrtle Beach, SC about two or three times a year. So it is unusual for us not to have eaten here before. There are a lot of pancake houses to choose from and we have not gotten to eat here before today. When we got there only one car in the parking lot. It was eleven am. In the morning and the sign said they were open till two in the afternoon. When we went inside we were seated right away. The staff was quick But not friendly. I looked around and saw no other customers in the building. We decided to stay anyway and ordered breakfast. The staff was just walking around and not very pleasant and just seemed to need something to do. Soon after a few other groups of people came in and sat down to eat. When we got our food it was hot and fresh and tasted pretty good. When the bill came I noticed a surcharge on there of two percent to offset the extra charges for credit cards. When we finished our meal and went to the register to pay I asked about the surcharge since I was paying cash. I was told everyone had to pay the surcharge paying cash or credit. The food was Ok the service so-so I am not sure I will eat here again the next time I am in town.

Amazing breakfast!!! Every time I take a vacation to Myrtle beach I make absolutely sure I eat several breakfasts here. They have the BEST French toast I have ever had- and I've had a lot! The service is great and everyone is very friendly. The prices are great. There is nothing negative I could say about all of the experiences I have had here. I can't wait to visit Myrtle beach again just to come here! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

This is one of my boyfriend's favorite breakfast spots in Myrtle Beach. If I was basing my review on the food alone, it would be a solid 4. However, the service needs major improving. Our waitress was nice enough but she was a little forgetful and slow. I scanned the room and many of the tables were clearly out, as we waited to order so she didn't have a lot of tables to cover. I ordered a Belgium waffle with strawberries and whipped cream (on the side) and bacon. My boyfriend ordered a steak with eggs, a pancake and potatoes. We really enjoyed our food. The strawberries were fresh, which I loved. (Some places have the frozen strawberries that are still cold or hard in the middle). Everything is reasonably priced. I like how they electronically put the order in as you say it--this leaves little room for error when inputting it into the system.

Honestly came here because the reviews were better than ihop and I made a mistake. First off, walked in to see a line of people with a 20 minute wait but meanwhile there were 6 empty booths untouched. Smh. Made no sense. Staff looked tired and exhausted. Waiter wrote down our orders yet messed up on half of our orders. Pancakes tasted like corn bread made of cardboard. Bacon was undercooked, sent back for it to return over cooked. Smh. Grits tasted like watery oatmeal. Coffee was watered down - horrible. Even the orange juice tasted like Tang with lots of sugar ... do not recommend this place at all. The table behind us literally got up and left not touching their food. That should've been an indication for our party to leave.

First time visiting this restaurant. First let's start with service. The hostess was very unorganized it took about 5-7 minutes just to get on the waiting list. Then once my party of 5 was on the actual waiting the list the hostess asked us approximately 3 more times how many people were in our party. Once finally seated at our table that was just busted. The table was still wet.... not being picky however usually I'm okay with the table being a little damp, however their were actually water puddles all along the table. On the plus side the waitress came right over and took our drink order. She returned promptly with our drinks however it took her about 10 minutes. Plus this silverware was dirty. Food: I ordered their vegetarian omelette and substituted the two regular pancakes for two banana pecan pancakes and added a side of homestyle potatoes. Once, my food came out I was missing my potatoes. So I had to wait an additional 5 minutes for that to my potatoes.Food was cold. The quality of the food is poor. I came here solely based on the 4 star yelp review that they had. However, I should have actually read the reviews ‍!!! The food was bland with no flavor. The banana pecan pancakes was just that! Plain pancakes with bananas and pecans on it. I honestly, could've made this meal at home. Price: Not sure how much my food actually came up to however I got it half price because I made a complaint to the owner that I didn't like my food and she made the smart comment "Well I guess everybody else liked their food. You can give her half off since she ate half of it". In which I didn't. With that attitude and that being said I will never return to this establishment and will not recommend coming here to anyone!

They quickly seated our party of five, which was a great start to our visit. The service was okay. Nothing over the top, but not bad either. There were a few times our drinks got low, and we had to look around for our waitress, but it wasn't a huge deal. One thing I did notice was that the restaurant felt a little warm and humid inside, but with how busy it was, I can understand why. Now let's get to the best part--the food! My mom ate the crab cakes and cleaned her plate. She said they were so good she almost licked the plate clean! The kids had the chicken tenders and loved them. They were just a little overcooked, which is why we ended up taking some home, but they still enjoyed them. My wife ordered the HUGE grilled shrimp salad and finished every bite. She left happy, but she did mention she would have liked a few more shrimp, especially considering the price. As for me, I had the Catch of the Day, which was swordfish. Let me tell you--if you've never tried swordfish before, go to Carolina Roadhouse and order it! I had mine broiled, and it was cooked perfectly. It was tender, flavorful, and hands down one of the best fish dishes I've had. My only complaint? I wanted more! Overall, my little family had a great experience, and we'll definitely be back. Next time, I'll finally be trying the famous ribs that everyone keeps talking about. Thanks for a great meal, Carolina Roadhouse! From the Griggs Family

Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.

We were promptly seated and drink orders were taken. The waiter reappeared about 15 mins later with drinks and cheese rolls and took the table's order. We settled on the Aspen family meal which consisted of 2 meats and 4 sides. We chose smothered pork tenderloin and fried chicken along with mac 'n cheese, collard greens, fried okra and candied yams. Fried chicken was awesome, crispy, with an assortment of dark and white meat pieces. We were looking for a knife because of the pork tenderloin and realized you don't need it. It was that tender. You could cut it with a fork and it too was awesome. Everyone raved about all the side items except the mac & cheese it was a bit on the bland side so it was not our favorite. There was no need for a refill of any of the food. The first round was very ample sized and everyone left very satisfied. And if I have a bit of feedback, our waiter was not attentive unlike the waitress serving the tables in our same area. He was didn't bother to come back and see if we needed a refill on any of the drinks or the food. The only disappointing thing was they no longer offer you a small sample size dessert to finish up your meal. It's been a while since I've dined here so I'm not sure how long that change has been in place. However, we understand the food industry continues to be impacted by the current economy. Overall, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms. It's a nice place to feed a large family who hates buffets.

Will say the area, the location, the draw and the atmosphere is fantastic, but not the food. Our family left disappointed by the overall quality of the meal, particularly given the establishment's reputation and the high price point. The cost for 4 people exceeded our expectations an amount that felt disproportionate to the overall experience provided. The service was adequate. Our waitress was courteous, but could have kept up on our drink refills. The food fell significantly short of our heightened anticipation. Dishes arrived at the table within minutes of ordering, far quicker than would be consistent with individual dish preparations. This is served family style with options of your main courses and sides. The okra was good, but had some very hard pieces. I bit down on one that was so hard it could have broken a tooth. Green beans were decent, but extremely salty. The creamed potatoes were the best thing in my opinion and we were able to be served both the white & brown gravy's. The fried chicken was so dry and uneatable, with extremely minimal flavor and texture that did not meet standard expectations for Southern-style preparation. We realized after the fact: you can request the chicken parts. The macaroni & cheese tasted mushy offering little depth of homemade character. The biscuits were also very dry. They looked great, but tasted bland. The fried fish & tartar sauce was probably the most memorable dish. However, not everyone in our party had it because they do not like it. There's other options for "main" choices, but you'll have to compromise as a group. You'll have to do the same as far as the sides too! I would not recommend Paula Deen's Family Restaurant based on this visit and would advise potential patrons to consider other options for Southern comfort food while in Myrtle Beach. There are many more options within this great broad-walk complex. That said, I would suggest shopping in the gift store located in the downstairs of the building, as there are lots of merchandise that represents Paula Deen far better than her eatery. * If you happen to be a Food Network FAN (like I am). Flavor Town is coming to the other side of town. Location will be at the Myrtle Beach Mall & will open in June 2026*
