Either the management here doesn't care about losing money, or they just have no clue how their employees are acting. I've NEVER experienced such inconsistent hours and menu availability. From what I can tell, the employees seem to be allowed to cut corners as they mentally check out after like 2:30 pm even though they don't close until 4. They say lunch is until 3pm, but sometimes they jump the gun and turn the grill off 15 minutes earlier than that, and if that happens they won't turn it back on for you, even if you are still there before 3. Last week I went in a little before 1:45 and I STILL couldn't get a sandwich because they just so happened to be closing at 2. The lady there didn't offer to let me change my order, upsell me on something different, didn't even apologize for the inconvenience... just flat-out refused me service and then the girl had the audacity to say "maybe I could have made it work if you were here at like 1:40ish..." As if her doing her job is negotiable once she's mentally already back at home on her couch. Never mind that the lobby was empty and she had nothing left to do EXCEPT her job. I was like "that's less than five effing minutes ago, y'all have a problem here" and as I walked out this girl actually yelled after me something like "I didn't know your BLT meant that much to you" Which would be completely uncalled for even if I DIDN'T happen to be someone with a chronic condition which actually does affect my diet. So yes, eating something actually WAS that important to me. This isn't even the first time an employee here has claimed I am 'two minutes too late' to order food off the grill they shut off some 10 minutes earlier than 1 hour early. Those cashiers have the work ethic of slugs. I'd recommend literally any other place for lunch, as the Great Harvest has disappointed me several times now. The first time I ate here I actually left a five-star review, but that was before they changed their hours and I will be removing that review. Since then, I have tried to order more food, but I have not since been one of the lucky few who got there in time for the special window of their shift that the employees actually feel like working!! We visited here one weekend now that it's finally open and we're pleasantly surprised with our sandwiches. I got a basic bacon, egg and cheese and my husband got a Baja chicken sandwich of sorts. Friendly staff, sandwich was good just nothing that blew us away. I do want to come back and try the loaves of bread though. read more

I really love this place for a cold sandwich or baked treat (delicious cheddar bacon muffins and blueberry scones!!) My favorite breads are their Dakota bread and the Rosemary Garlic. So far I find all their breads rich and dense and moist, but I haven't tried them all yet :) Great chicken salad and quality meats and cheeses! Joey is super friendly, and the other staff is too. Wonderful breakfast sandwiches!! We love the breads here--Dakota bread with seeds and nuts is delicious!! We like the breakfast sandwiches--my favorite is the bacon, egg and cheese on Dakota bread or Rosemary Garlic bread. They have good coffee too. Their scuffins are a mix of muffin and scones and come in a bunch of flavors. The people who work there are so helpful. The parking is busy, I like to go for late breakfast. read more

This place is like a little piece of home for me here in North Carolina. I was so excited when I saw Great Harvest would be opening here! It's been open for a few weeks, and it still feels pretty "not quite ready to open." The first time I came here they didn't even have a menu yet. Today, they had a small printed menu and a much larger selection of their baked goods. All of the bread is delicious, as are their cookies and bars. My sandwich was delicious and I will definitely be back. It will be nice once things look a little more "open" for business, but in the meantime I would highly suggest checking this place out for your next lunch stop. read more

OK, I'm a bit bias as I have been a GHBC fan for some time now. My wife heard about this amazing bread store on Kings years and years ago. We went and they give samples and that glorious day they were sampling the Cinnamon Chip Bread... BAM!!! Life time fan. Now, they opened one in Matthews a mere 8.5miles from mi house. Every time I go in, which a bit as I said before... Cinnamon Chip Bread, I'm greeted while still in the threshold of the doorway. The staff are always friendly and helpful well with you commoners at least since I am very familiar with what they have to offer. My advice is to learn the Savanna Bar schedule because they are spectacular and somewhat life changing; let me help you... Thursday. I have yet to have anything bad and  I feel I never will. Last 4 xs I have been to the Great Harvest Bread Company they have not had any bread. I don't know if I understand a business model that keeps a store open with nothing to sell. When you ask if the store is going out of business you just get, "We are the forgotten store." We were told if we want bread go to the Paper Glen store it is only 15 mins away. I was in the neighborhood today, and stopped in for a loaf. I requested the Pesto Asiago, then did an insane double take when the cashier told me that would be $10+. Normally I would have laughed hysterically and exited, but I've been on the search for GREAT bread in Charlotte FOREVER, so $10 seemed a small price to pay to see if I finally found it. SPOILER ALERT: I did NOT find it... The remainder of this review will focus on the bread quality itself, regardless of price, so the insane price I paid is not factoring into my comments... The bread is clearly done via rolling, as the pesto was rivets throughout the loaf, so they're rolling the dough around the pesto. However the bread itself was dry. Let me repeat that: DRY. Dry, dry, dry. The crust was indistinguishable from the interior (major demerits). The entire thing is the same dry, chewy (not in a good way), bland YUCK. The pesto is basically there to disguise the fact the bread tastes like cardboard (and that's not hyperbole... the closest flavor comparison to the bread itself is legitimately CARDBOARD)... I would not buy your bread here. The cheapest, worst loaf you'll buy at your local grocery store will be far better than this, and you'll save a fortune. Kudos to the cashier though, who remarkably kept a straight face while asking me for $10+ for a chunk of cardboard that includes a small amount of dry, weak pesto to make it seem somehow less cardboardy (though it fails in that attempt). read more
