I'll leave it to the true New Yorkers to decide whether these bagels are authentically New York style bagels or not. They do have a different texture than the ones I make at home. There's no real "chew" to them at all, but they are very soft. Nevertheless they are delicious. The gal who rang up my order was very conscientious and kept my Asiago bagels separate from my poppy seed bagels. That was a thoughtful gesture that I hadn't expected yet fully appreciate. Don't expect actual NYC style bagels cause that's not what you're gnna get. I got charged 10$ for a bacon egg cheese to get a tiny bit not even packed how they do it in my city. Such a disgrace to my city I absolutely hate that i've been going to so many "NY" style places here in NC and have found nothing but straight disappointment. Tried this place on the way to work one day, it was pretty good overall. I was immediately greeted when I walked in, I let the worker know it was my first time trying this place and he happily tried to help me decide what to try. I ended up getting a breakfast bagel and a smoothie. The bagel was good, I just wished I had gotten cream cheese on it too. The smoothie was alright, but if you don't drink it immediately the mix starts to separate a little so that tells you a little about how they make it. I liked this bagel place, I think the only negative that stood out to me was the sanitation score wasn't great (88 i think if my memory is correct?) and the serve-your-own drink area looked a little sloppy. I will probably be back since it is convenient for me and I enjoyed the food. read more

This is 100% house made cream cheese and it is amazing! The fiches and flavor of the bagels is right on point with good New York bagels. I got an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and it was so good! I normally go with in toasted but I would recommend getting these bagels toasted for a softer bagel with less chew. New York Bagels is a great place, in fact it's my daughter and my favorite Saturday bfast spot. The staff is amazing, friendly and courteous. I've never had a bad meal there. My only complaint is if you tip on your credit card, the staff doesn't receive the tips. The owner is keeping all tips that are charged on a cc which isn't right. I stopped tipping on my cc and now I give them cash. I think the ownership should stop doing this or disclose it to the customer that the tip is not going to the employees. read more

This brand now has 3-4 locations in the Lake Norman area and have most recently taken root in the Harris Teeter shopping center in Davidson. It's your typical NY Bagel spot that serves Bagels, Flagels, Breakfast Sandwiches, and a limited variety of Pastries. If you're like me you're probably in the dark on what a "Flagel" is. It's a FLAT bagel! Apparently between boiling and baking, they flatten it, which for flavor makes sense: more surface to mass equals more browning and a crisper exterior. Sounds cool but the Flagel for me will have to wait until next visit. Today I was seeking out ol' reliable: Asiago Bagel with House Cream Cheese. House Cream Cheese mainly consists of Bacon and Scallion which are two of my favorite flavors on the planet. Real quick note before I talk about what I got and that's what you shouldn't get. The strawberry cream cheese they have here is the exact same 'very fake' pink color that they have at the Huntersville location. Sorry, it just isn't good and has an almost synthetic taste. Just a word of caution before you get it thinking it's going to be a genuine strawberry cream cheese. The Asiago on the bagel gives it a crunchy 'shell' and everything in the House cream cheese complimented the cheese nicely. For three dollars, you're getting quite a bit of food in a nice handheld package so I'm definitely a fan. Between the good food, clean shop, and affordable prices, Davidson's newest bagel spot gets thumbs up from me! I say, give 'em a WHIRL! read more

We ordered the spinach bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, bacon egg and cheese bagel, plain bagel with strawberry cream cheese, cinnamon crunch bagel, everything bagel with the house cream cheese, and a plain bagel w/plain cream cheese. Easy to get to and easy to park it is located in the plaza of Harris Teeter. Only thing holding me back from a 5 is no Unsweetened tea. I'm not even from NY and I can tell you these bagels are a disgrace to New York! Only because we were in the area and were craving a good breakfast bagel we decided to give them a try. They were friendly which is was cool, but that's where it ends. Our everything bagel was incredibly bland and very thin. They are not generous at all with the bacon egg or cheese and the home potatoes are disgusting! I don't know if they were soaked in oil or water but they came out wet! I like this place very much and have eaten here frequently since they opened. It is a most welcome addition to the Davidson dining scene. When I came here for the first time, I was quite surprised to find that they offered Taylor Ham as one of the breakfast meat options. I grew up in New York, and while Taylor Ham is a New Jersey product and ubiquitous in bagel shops and diners there, I never had occasion to try it. I have now, and I am hooked. It is absolutely delicious! Porky, salty, smoky, and not quite like anything you have tasted before. Try it, but ask them to cook it soft, not too crispy, as it is sliced very thinly and easily overcooked. For $5.99 you can get 2 eggs, meat, either hash browns ( really a potato cake, quite good) or breakfast potatoes, which are home fries, and a choice of bagel. You can get the bagel toasted, which I recommend doing, and it is served with butter. For a small extra charge, you can have a flavored cream cheese, and there are numerous varieties to choose from. On one visit, I had the LEO (Lox, Eggs and Onions) and it was excellent. This is often served scrambled, but at New York Original, they do it as a 3 egg omelet. It was loaded with nova and quite satisfying, At $10.99, it is the most expensive item on the breakfast menu, and worth every penny. Really, really good. I have also tried the pancakes and have found them to be very tasty. They are not too big, and served with two eggs and choice of meat, Basically they are a way of having something other than a bagel with your breakfast. Good though! Now, let's discuss the bagels. I have read numerous reviews, stating that these are not really New York style bagels. I would say that there is truth to that statement. They are softer and not as chewy or hearty as the ones you will find in New York bagel shops. But I did not start coming to this restaurant with the expectation that they would be the same. This is Davidson, not Bensonhurst or the Lower East Side. The name of the place should not be taken literally. As I mentioned above, they will gladly toast the bagels (and flagels and bialys) which does give them added flavor. So if you go in with an open mind and don't expect an exact duplicate of a bagel from 'the old country', I think you will enjoy the food here just fine. I have not tried any lunch items yet, but that's coming soon and I will do a write-up about those items at a later date. All in all, I recommend this place. The people are friendly and helpful, and they offer a good meal at a reasonable price. Plus, it's a local place and it's always nice to keep the money circulating locally. Two words: mama like. We biked here this morning after seeing in the local paper they had just opened up. The location is very convenient Close off the freeway and close to town. and the inside space is large with plenty of sit down tables. Musical selection is most excellent according to me and my 11-year-old. This place has a good selection of bagels are though not as big as other bagel places we've been to in other cities. But they are brand new. There still plenty to choose from and they taste fresh. We have a five person family of all ages and palates and everyone was satisfied/happy. (We had bacon cheddar bagel warmed with butter, everything bagel with egg cheese and ham, potato knish, and cinnamon rolls. All were quite good. )Can't beat that! The customer service is excellent. There is a good selection of coffees and flavored coffees. There's also a good selection of other breakfast choices like pancakes waffles eggs and meats. They have lunch which we have not tried but it looks like plenty of choices of sandwiches to suit any taste including a yummy Cuban sandwich which we are excited to try soon! read more

Whoever is making egg sandwiches there at 11am on May 20, 2020 is an idiot. I ordered 2 egg breakfast sandwiches to be delivered to me. Both bacon egg and cheese on each bagel. One bagel only had eggs on it. One bagel only had cheese and bacon! Only cheese and bacon! Also, they did not give me one of the sides I ordered. So tons of food was missing, plus quality was very poor. I am so mad. A true bagel place in actual New York would never do this. read more
