Front desk ladies are rude and inattentive (scrolling their phone) but they have always been that way. Not being called back for your appointment after 25 minutes waiting and not being updated or checked on in anyway is unacceptable. Dr. Henne has given me the best eye care over the years. Recently, he saw something change on my retinal scan and obtained an emergency appointment with a retinal specialist. Fortunately, the specialist felt the change was unremarkable, but I appreciate Dr. Henne's proactive care. He doesn't "let things go" like some other eye doctors. Lisa, the optical manager, has given me and my friends excellent care. I went in yesterday to use my vision insurance before the end of this year. She explained my benefits and brought me about 2 dozen pairs of frames to try on. The pair I found exceeded my expectations since it came with polarized sunglasses and a double case to hold both. She is always patient, knowledgeable and willing to teach me how to get the best value from my insurance. I highly recommend them both read more

At first I really liked Family Eye Care. The staff is courteous and helpful. Dr. Henne is very professional and a very likeable doctor. They tried to make glasses for me; they worked with me for several months, but in the end were not able to make glasses that fit my particular condition (profound astigmatism with monocular double-vision). I left their office with glasses that I cannot use, and Family Eye Care is no longer interested in helping me. I am going to have to find another company to make glasses for me. read more

Drs. Henne, Schneider, and Beissinger are, in my opinion, the best in global eye care. Your eye health MATTERS to them and they are all incredibly kind, caring; attentive human beings. My most recent visit, March 2023, I was so impressed by the beautiful, upscale renovation of the office. However, it is the doctors and staff make Family Eye Care, Winter Haven, worth flying from to Atlanta to Orlando, renting a care and driving to my appointment. I will do it EVERY year. read more

I am disappointed in my first experience with Family Eye Care. Everything seemed great at my appointment- Dr. Henne's new associate, although young and a recent graduate, seemed competent. The optician staff was very helpful in selecting frames. The front desk was very efficient with acquiring payment for services rendered and the 2 pairs of prescription glasses I ordered. Fast forward 2 weeks later, and radio silence on picking up my new glasses. I initially stopped by after a week and they said there was an issue with the lenses that would be corrected by the end of day. Nearly a week after that, when I called- they initially said they had no record of me as a patient. I called back and spoke with another person- who looked me up and immediately said, "oh Dr. Sonni, They are here and ready, I don't know why you didn't receive a call".... Probably because I paid the $1000+ up front. I will update this review after I have spoken with the office manager and picked up my new glasses. Updated: 49 degrees outside and the office girls did not have the courtesy to open the doors a few minutes early for patients (including several kids) waiting outside. When I made a comment that it's common courtesy to open the door when parient's are waiting in the cold, the office manager's response was "Well no one died by waiting outside". Only 1 of 2 pairs of glasses ready for pick up. The optician did not realize the 2nd pair was delayed, and there is no estimate for when they will be ready. I have asked the manager to cancel this order and refund me, and I hope she does so. I am never returning here after this experience. read more

I have recently moved to Winter Haven and was nervous about having to reestablish at a eye physician. I continued going to my old one an hour away and received poor care. I looked online at a few reviews and found a new Dr but they did not do contact exams and the gave me Dr.Henne office number. Best decision EVER!!! He is kind, and very thorough. Dr. Henne took the time to explain to me things about my eyes I never knew. I have not been able to see properly for some time now but today walking out of his office I was filled with joy. It took me a while to add my review as I have been busy and had to take my mind off regarding the incident that happened at this location. I was battling to get a pair of trial contacts for my son and it turned out to be an embarrassing situation regarding some balances that the location decided to bring up from 2021 and 2022. Every time I have gone to an eye care location, you will not leave the location without being asked for payment. Somehow, the staff was not doing their job properly and I kept going since 2021 and was never told anything they decided to straighten their billing system and decided to charge me since they could not get payment from my insurance. As far as I know, everything is taken care of during the visit and they have time to ask again when you pick up your orders (glasses or contacts) I was told that people leave without paying and that I had a balance and was not allowed to order contacts for my son until I pay the balance right in front of every customer that was in the office. Needless to say, I was FURIOUS and told them I was not going to pay a thing from almost 3 years ago. I left the place knowing that I would never go back there. However, I wrote an email to Dr. Henne explaining the whole situation and that I would like a call back from him to let me know how it was going to be handled. However, he sent (Debbie) the same person who accused me of not paying my balance to let me know that the balance would be taken off. I already knew that was going to happen as I was not going to pay for the errors their staff had made. I was shocked that Debbie did not even apologize for the way she handled the situation and Dr. Henne did not even bother to acknowledge my email or apologize for the incident. That was even more proof of their lack of customer service and perhaps should look into improving that. This time around somehow everything started wrong as Summer rushed us to get our glasses as she had to leave in a few minutes. Then, the first year I visited there they gave my contacts to someone else, and I had to wait until they had time to bring them back for me to pick them up. I decided to give them a chance after that incident as I know mistakes happen but not after the last fiasco I was submitted to. The intention of this review is for customers to be aware that they might try to make you pay for past balances but know that you can fight it, the way it was put to to me is that the front desk is afraid to ask for payment, then they should not be hired to work at the front desk if they are scared to ask for payments. It was not even about the money it was just the principle and how it was handled. To be honest I would of continued going there as I really liked Dr. Allison Schneifer and Dr. Kendall Beissinger both of them are great but the location Staff needs to learn on how to handle situations and provide better customer service. read more

I'm a fairly new patient to Dr. Henne's office (about 1 year). I was recommended to see him by one of his own employees and on my last visit, another employee spoke highly of him also. It says a lot when your employees speak so highly of you. My own personal experience with Dr. Henne has proved everything his employees say to be true; friendly, personable, thorough. His employees are very friendly also. Not just with me, with every patient that walked through the door. Last week I went to Cheapmart for an eye exam. As soon as they finished their 2 minute eye test and handed me the script I knew they were incompetent. I was referred to this office by my mother and I am so glad she did! From the moment I walked into the office the staff was nothing but pleasant. The appointment started on time and each staff member I interacted with treated me kindness and compassion. Every procedure was explained to me in detail which I really appreciated. I Used to love this facility until the COVID19 outbreak; this is very stressful time for a lot of people. And people like myself don't have the luxury of sitting home and getting paid during this Pandemic. So I have to risk my life everyday to come into the office to make sure the people of the US have their groceries delivered to the stores in a timely manner, this being said my schedule is not flexible and my daughter who is 6 and currently home schooling is having the hardest time because her glasses broke and she did not have a spare we ordered some last week from Family Eye Care we were told we would be contacted when they came in- I was contacted 5/4 at 1pm and told they were in but the facility closes at 2 I had no time to get there since then I have been trying to get a hold of them via phone and no matter what time it is they don't answer the phone. The yahoo mailbox isn't being monitored either because you have to wait forever for a response. I have called 15 times between yesterday and today and still no answer! They wont even provide a message of what their restricted hours are. We have been patients there for 4 years. nonetheless I am taking her to a Optometrist that's open during this time and want to help their patients, if you don't want to work why don't you just close your whole office down permanently!
