I will admit that Family Kitchen stays true to its name as the staff is definitely a family community. That being said, the restaurant owner's young child single handedly carries the restaurant on his back. He runs around and completes all the restaurant tasks and keeps flow moving. I was unsettled by the variety on the menu, and I was right in underestimating the Restaurants's ability to excel with so many options. My pancakes were absolutely fantastic. Absolute gas. I've never eaten pancakes so good. But my friend's omelette was subpar. The homemade toast that accompanied the omelette was incredible as well. Talk about breakfast and a show... the I assume owner was talking very loud and angry about her legal troubles and it was quite entertaining. It did concern me slightly when I googled and found it had to do with past health code related issues during covid. But I cannot lie these pancakes were delicious and I would honestly come again. There's not very much seating and it's an order at the counter restaurant. They have about everything you can think of including coolers of unique drinks, soups, and premade meals. It was not a very aesthetically pleasing picture perfect looking place if that's what you're looking for but the food makes up for it in my opinion. Through, my friend got the omelet and did not enjoy it, her toast was great though. The young boy working there seems to have back issues... from carrying this establishment on his back. There's a lot of food options which is great. Lots of options for younger kids which is good for parents. Just went there today with my dad and they had no salad?... and no chilli rellenos which was the special of the day. I don't understand how that works but okay. There's kid serving tables and the little boy had brought me the wrong dish twice?.. The food was not enjoyable and you can hear people screaming to songs in the back kitchen. I don't know if this place has changed hands in the last couple of years but it is not what it used to be. The server told us we couldn't have a booth because she'd already cleaned it and they were closing soon (it was 1:15 on a Saturday). Food was terrible. Mennonite, Mexican and Canadian cuisine all in one! We came here twice during our three day stay. Day One I had the pancakes which were perfectly fluffy on the inside and golden on the outside. I don't think I've ever had such flavourful pancakes. Day Two I had chicken fajitas which were equally fantastic. We also had the chicken noodle soup which was very noodly (in a good way) with a beautiful broth. In addition to the awesome food, the staff were also super friendly. Popped in for a late bkfst, not knowing what to expect (the sign out front states "Menonite, Mexican and Canadian Food"). Menu is a mix of different cultures...there's Mennonite dishes along side of the other 2 ). Parking lot was full...Had to park on the main street....the place was fairly busy when we arrived...but the staff opened another room so we were seated right away. Let's start with the ambiance...trendy it's not...just be basics...tables and chairs. I ordered French Toast with sausages, my partner ordered bacon, eggs, toast and home fries. The food is above average, with homemade bread used in both our meals. It was deliscious. Home fries are the store bought kind...sort of a let down as you'd expect the real McCoy. Ordered a tea...got a full cup of hot water and a teapot full of water as well....nice to see a place think of tea drinkers as well. Italian sushi? French chow mien? Mennonite tacos? In an unlikely pairing Family Restaurant identifies as Canadian, Mennonite and Mexican. The decor is quaint, rural, old school, like walking back in time. Or maybe it's just a rural thing. It's a big menu. The pierogies look fat and delicious, smothered in gravy. Considering the diners in traditional Mennonite garb, I knew that would be a win. But I needed to look for a weak spot. I went for Mexican, partly because the Enchilada platter was the special for the day. Surprise! They got game! For $8, I got a chicken and a beef enchilada with a great flavour. It had a nice portion of retried beans, and a bit of a salad. I ordered a side of guacamole, but when I saw the small cup of guac, I ordered another, bigger side of guac. I ate every scrap. It was a fine meal for $8, but I still had room and considered a pierogi. But then I discovered they had Coconut Cream Pie, made from scratch, so of course I was in. The pie was everything a homemade cc pie should exhibit. I left full for $16 including a soft drink. They didn't charge me for the guacamole. If I wind up in Leamington again, I am going back for the pierogies! On another note: Heinz foods bailed on the town, moving its ketchup production to Mexico. French's foods moved in to fill the employment gap, and now makes a far better ketchup using Leamington tomatoes than the Heinz Chemical Factory ever made. On recommendation from this site we visited this restaurant. We were intrigued by the combination of styles of food. Mexican-German Mennonite Upon being seated we were offered nachos and salsa. Nice touch, the restaurant made appetizers started the ordering process. This inspired us to choose Mexican. We choose a combination of Mexican items in a single plate. We enjoyed all of the individual parts. Almost all the items were available as separately plated meals so we would know what they were but not regular Mexican feasters there was one item we were not sure of. Even this was a joy on the palate. Consider that there are a number of different types of clientele that patronize this establishment so be respectful to allow them to follow their religious practices. The restaurant has multilingual staff speaking in English, low German, and Spanish, possibly other languages but not sure. Although alcoholic beverages are available we did not choose any as we were on the go and driving about after our visit. Do not be afraid of food choices as the burger also appears on the menu. Great food, friendly staff. My girlfriend introduced me to the place and it's become our go-to restaurant in Leamington. Yelp's description of just "German" doesn't really do the restaurant justice - it does have good Mennonite food, but it also has good, authentic Mexican. Best place in Leamington for breakfast!!! As for the Homemade jam! It's the best! I don't go here often for lunch or dinner... I'm Mennonite... so I can make that myself. Best restaurant in town for a homemade breakfast. Served up is Mennonite/Mexican food that is delicious. They make homemade bread, jam, and desserts that leave your taste buds dazzled. Breakfast is served all day and they have many options for lunch and dinner. It's a little pricey compared to other restaurants but its worth it. read more

I have been looking for good Mexican food in Ontario for a long time, and I finally found it here. They have a good variety of all kinds of food on the menu, and I thought the selection of Mexican food was good. What I ordered was very tasty, the staff was prompt and helpful, and the price was very reasonable. The Family Kitchen is not your regular restaurant. They offer a variety of north american foods as well as a mexican mennonite menu. The restaurant isn't much inside but the food will knock your socks off if you get out of your element. This place is used to large parties walking off the street and has a nice booth area. read more
