    Our little guy
    Diane A.

I can't say enough good things about ACSD. Our journey to become parents was difficult to say the least, but ACSD was truly the miracle we had been waiting for. Sarah Lanza helped us welcome our son into our family through a unique, "stork-drop" situation. Because our match happened so quickly, we needed a lot of guidance with immediate logistics, as well as that personal touch. Sarah was always available, patient, and responsive. I had a lot of questions at different steps along the way, and never hesitated to reach out to Sarah and her staff. Sarah has a way of making both adoptive parents and birth parents feel comfortable and supported. I appreciated the efforts that ACSD makes to provide the opportunity to get to know other adoptive couples and get support from them, too. I have made some lifelong friends and have seen many happy families formed. Adoption can be a difficult process, but ACSD went above and beyond to support us. If I could go back in time and tell my past-self anything, it would be to go straight to ACSD.

The gift of life through adoption

For anyone that has had the opportunity to work with Sarah and her staff, they will know the amount of time, support, coaching, education, and love that goes into the adoption process. My family and I have had the amazing pleasure of working with the Adoption Center of San Diego and can't say enough great things about this organization, and the process we went through to be blessed with our son. Sarah spent a lot of time with us, educating us about what "open adoption" means, and how as a family, we can embrace this beautiful gift. The monthly support groups not only for the adoptive parents, but also for the birth mothers shows the type of dedication and love Sarah has for her job. I could never imagine anyone giving her or her organization a bad rating because if they really worked with her and embraced the process, they wouldn't have anything but wonderful things to say. Adoption is difficult. It's emotional, sad, often times happy, and sometimes frustrating. But Sarah, and her staff helped us get through all of these emotions. She helped us at every step of the process from assisting with the "Dear Birthmother letter," to guiding us through the legal process, to helping us with our tax credits, to providing education sessions on how to speak to our child about adoption, to hosting large parties two times a year for all the adoptive and birth families. The list goes on and on and I am so thankful and blessed to have experienced adoption the way Sarah has showed us. Thank you Sarah and Adoption Center staff or making this a process that will forever be in our hearts. Your devotion, dedication, and love for all of us shows through in all the good deeds you do to bind families together. Thank you for making our dreams come true.

Glad i chose to parent my Violet Grace, avoid this adoption center like the plague!!!

I started to volunteer with this organization, and it was the most insulting experience I have ever came across. I did close to all of the work and assignments told aside of 2, we as a group of trainees were told that we would get a follow up email individually on anything lingering. As I waited for Jaimes follow up email she gaslighted me instead and made it seem as if I was not interested and then questioning my ability to follow through. I went through weeks of training giving 3 hours twice weekly, reached out to 3 people to use as for a reference, went to dmv for my printout, did 2 over an hour interviews, paid money out of my own pocket to drive to pacific beach to get my fingerprints scan, and sent emails in a timely manner to communicate. With all that said. Jamie continued to question my interest in the program. I reachedout to her direct supervior to give feed back and her Supervisor Jenna who was also condescending to me when it came to me voicing my concern about my interaction with Jamie. If she's been so supportive to others and followed up with others and did not gaslight others it makes me feel that it has to do with my race! There is no reason why she should not have shown me support or gratitude For my time and all I have done. I was one of the only Hispanics in my group and I was the only one they were treating poorly for no reason. Even more so to think that if the bigger picture is to help a child and that was something they were truly concerned for they would be going above and beyond to make that happen instead they both treated me like I was less than. My advice is to volunteer your precious time with and organization and people who value and support you. Good luck out there to all of you amazing people who do volunteer work...

The guy who brought the pup to meet my dog didn't even allow them more than 10 seconds to meet before he did not allow us to adopt. I understand that we have to look out for all dogs safety, but my dog didn't even bark like plenty of the other dogs around. The workers at labs and more seemed really pretentious towards my family and dog which is really upsetting when all we are trying to do is rescue a pup that needs a home. I would recommend to look elsewhere if you are looking for a new pup. UPDATE: So since we were treated so unfairly by Labs and More we ended up finding a pup from an independent seller. It was not ideal nor our first choice, but Labs and More and other shelters make it unnecessarily difficult to adopt a pup. Again, I brought my kids and dog an hour to meet a pup and the worker took 1 look at our dog and made up his mind before even giving our dog a chance. For a shelter whose workers are supposed to be "dog people", they are pretty judgmental and rude for no reason. Here is a pic of our dog and new pup an hour after bringing the pup home. They are best buds and our dog took the transition very well. Why would I drive an hour with my dog if I had even the slightest thought that my dog would harm another? I could have easily said I didn't have a dog and adopted, but we tried doing these the right way and were turned away by rude workers. If you already own a dog, don't bother with this unwelcoming shelter.

We decided to rescue her a few days before Hope2K9 had an open spot to start her training. When we brought Freyja home from the rescue we learned that she was part shark and part sled dog. On our first walk she was trying to pull us up the street with the force of an entire team of sled dogs. When we got home from the walk we gave her a "indestructible dog toy" which she managed to destroy within 5 minutes. At this point we were nervous about the potential challenges we were going to be facing with training. During the 3 week training process Cam kept us updated on our pups progress. The second night we received a short video of Cam walking a well behaved Freyja. The 2 in person training sessions were well organized and covered all the commands and how to leverage the training tools used to train our pup. The experience did not end with the 3 week training because Hope2K9 has been there to answer our questions.

Not only do they work very hard at training they also allow you to visit for more training if you want. This is a wonderful rescue and I couldn't be more happier with my pup!
