Came for dinner on a Monday night with low expectations. Chain BBQ spot was close to my hotel so I gave it a try. Walked in at 7:22pm and waited 7 minutes before an employee acknowledged my presence and greeted me! Just standing there looking at people and being TOTALLY IGNORED!!! Felt like a long time! I guess no employees cover the host check in stand! I saw servers all night but no managers either! Thought about leaving but didn't. When a server finally stopped by and greeted me I didn't get mad and was friendly to her and thanked her for helping me. My server came and he was friendly and attentive. Ordered a two meat plate with burnt ends and smoked jalapeno sausage. The sausage was AMAZING! I have been to all the famous BBQ restaurants in Texas and Kansas City so I know good BBQ. Unfortunately the burnt ends were not great. They obviously don't know what a "burnt end" is! This was just brisket in cubes with some sauce on them (and I actually liked the sauce). Dish came with two free sides. They were out of chili so I got corn on the Cobb (they call it sweet corn). It was just ok. However I absolutely LOVED the grilled pineapple. Wishes I had ordered double pineapple! Also loved the interior decor. Fun decorated log cabin! Plenty of space for a big group (if they don't ignore you and you are able to get a table!). I do not go looking to purposely demean people or restaurants, but this could be the worst BBQ food I have ever had. The food came out so quickly that it must have been cooked hours ago and kept under a heat lamp. The ribs were very dry from being overcooked, the flavor of the beans needs a makeover, the broccoli was very soggy, and the muffin was the best item on the plate. We went on Mother's Day - a party of 11. The restaurant was not even half full. We went into the bar to wait for our table - the bartender was alone, waiting other tables & was okay. He kept telling us he was busy and he'd get to us; he also kept saying that someone had to stand by the hostess area or we may miss being seated, Again, the restaurant wasn't busy. When we finally got drinks after 20 minutes, the guy kept saying we could only take our wine to the table not outside. It felt like he was scolding us. After we were seated, we waited a decent amount of time for our food, but we were a big table. When my food came, it was less than impressive - the rib tips were chewy, not tender & the flavor was not great. The chicken wings were also dry & way too salty. I have ordered from this location before & it was really good. Not sure what happened, but I won't eat here again. read more

First time here and I had the ribs. I'm from Memphis, so know my BBQ, but not a bbq snob either. I've had some great bbq in North Carolina. But these ribs were the best I've ever eaten. Large St. Louis cut ribs, lean and tender, with a nice smoke flavor. But there is something more to these ribs; maybe it's the sauce. Not sure, but they were delicious. Ribs weren't bad, but the brisket was dry. C+ from the health inspector posted at the front door was a turnoff. We ordered a few items, following the recommendation I got the ribs and the texas beef brisket combo with fries and coleslaw as sides. The ribs were good, not the best but good. The brisket however was dry and didn't look appetizing. The other combo we had was brisket with chicken, same issue with the brisket, but the chicken was good. Portion wise the two meet combo is good for an adult. Our friends got the single item sandwich that comes with one side and they said they weren't full. I walked in Jan 27th to order a take-out meal for my family. It took 25 min to get waited on at the bar, couldn't even get a drink until someone decided to show up and asked me if I wanted something. It took another 20 minutes to get a menu! I ordered 2 meals, one with a Caesar salad side, they charged me extra for the salad, then left it out of my order? I waited another 38 minutes to finally received my order! When I returned home with it, they left out the salad and all the meats were packaged DRY! No sauces and were dry as a bone! I've never received meats served like this at this location. A consistantly good, laid-back lunch or dinner spot! I've been coming here once in a while for years. I enjoy the selection of barbecue sauces. You can't really go wrong with anything on the menu, in my opinion--I usually stick to sandwiches here, but I don't remember getting anything I haven't liked. The salmon was amazing, I definitely recommend it. My mom got some chopped pork and it was good as well. They are short staffed in the kitchen so we were on the wait, but after we were sat our server was very attentive and everything ran smoothly. Great place! read more

Ribs are your best choice here. Brisket sandwich is dry & lacks a good flavor. Pulled pork is acceptable for a bbq place. Ribs were pretty tasty. Ordinary sides. Take out service is often ignored until you get someone's attention at the bar. read more

I have been here several times, the service was good, the food was overpriced, and had depends on what you ordered it could have lots of sodium in it which made the meal not so good. The salads and chicken burgers were good from all the times that I have been there. However the hamburger was good too, a bit too much sodium but good. The hamburger however was messy and extra napkins were needed which was definitely not easy to track down the server at that point so if you order the burger ask for extra napkins up front. The restaurant itself was very nice and clean which is always nice to see when you walk in. This place has its ups and downs on their service, but if you're one of the lucky ones you may get some good service and good food. read more

Was hesitant about trying this place since the one where we used to live wasn't so good but I wasn't picking the place and I was along for the ride. We were a large party with several kids and they sat us at a big round table. Menus and rink orders were prompt. Their selection of BBQ items sounded very tasty but I was just in the mood for their macaroni and cheese. Others ordered BBQ and it all looked really good. We got food to go from here a week ago and my son requested it again so I ordered it for the family. $54 worth of food, $18.99 for the measly half rack pictured below. I've never in all my years going to Famous Dave's all over the country have seen such a pathetic rack. Basically dried jerky that they basted with bbq sauce. I really wanted to like this place but between this and forgetting my 4 ranches for my fries, which thats truly the only reason I get the fries and the well what do you want me to do about it exasperated answer from the guy when I called in, I'll be letting people know to avoid this place. Taking care of customers shouldn't be this hard. I do get it's hard to find quality people to fill positions in the Flathead Valley, so I try to be patient but this was an absolute waste of $50. I was not impressed with the fact that brisket came in sliced bread with only 3 pieces and the chicken came same way. There was a pile of French fries. For the price I would have wanted MORE MEAT. I ordered Dave's Sassy BBQ Salad. My colleague ordered ribs. The food was great same as other location. The beer list was smaller than the Portland location. it was a little disappointment. We went to Famous Dave's for dinner after reading reviews. We arrived at 6:30 on a week day and did not have to wait. We noticed they have a large waiting area so it may get crowded on summer weekends. We settled into a large table for 6 in a rustic log dining room with lots of space. The table service was quick and friendly. They brought an appetizer tray quickly so we could munch on various meats while waiting for our main dinners. Drinks were also served quickly. I had their beef brisket. It was so tender it fell off my fork. My friends also enjoyed their choices. My only complaint was when I asked for a Caesar salad as a side instead of their usual sides. The kitchen couldn't handle that change so I was served a separate Caesar salad (a menu item) instead of as a side. Their food is served on tin trays rather than large plates. I ended up with 2 of their tin trays, one for the salad. But my table did not really have room for 2 of their trays so I had to set the salad away while eating the brisket. As for quality, I won't bore you with details but lets say that Famous Dave is a meat place, not a salad place. Don't order their Caesar salad. Get all their meat items and their usual sides. We had a good time and their BBQ meats were perfection. Service was friendly and fast. Famous Dave's is a great place for anyone on a low carb diet. I'm not sure if a vegetarian should go there. What it has going for it: - nice big tables - plenty of parking - good location - food was consistent with other Famous Dave's - food was out relatively quick - no line to get a seat (Thursday during lunch hour) What it has going against it: - prices are inching up So we have been to other Famous Dave's on the east coast. Every time a new BBQ joint opens up and after we try their food I always compare what I just ate to what I get at Famous Dave's. It's the benchmark for me. All the food is never dry or overcooked consistently every time we eat there. The only negative I could find is the pricing has increased for the full slab of ribs.... but they are still worth it to me. Looking for good BBQ, this is the place.
