There's nothing outstanding about this business in general. There was two staff to the entire store and they were busy upfront most of the time. They didn't really check in with us to see if we needed to see a shoe and a specific size or anything. We just left to wander the aisles on her own, which wasn't the worst thing in the world. But I did not appreciate about this store was the prices. Significantly marked up and then called a sale. The sale price was also unremarkable. Low inventory, even if you did find a shoe that you really liked chances are they only had about 3 to 4 sizes of that shoe. I come here cause it's convenient, and not because I think I'm gonna find my entire family a pair of shoes here. Do I recommend this? Sure. But don't have your hopes up. read more

This Famous Footwear in Elk Grove looks very nice outside. The store size is a little bigger than most of the Famous Footwear I have visited. I did get a greeting when I walked in. But I don't feel I'm welcome. Maybe it Is because in a cold winter evening. I check out the store and try to look for a pair of shoes. The price is pretty reasonable, but I didn't find the shoes I wanted. So I didn't buy anything. The store has two ladies working in there. One at the cashier counter and one at the sales floor. When people make the infamous statement, "children are not expensive", I begin to question their barometer of "expensive." When I think of "expensive", I think of sports, private school, college, and if the child deserves it... assisting them with purchasing their first car. Another expense that flies under the radar, is the costs of clothing and shoes (especially in the period of time leading up to the teenage years). After cleaning my son's closet, I realized that he only had one pair of shoes that still fit (although his feet were slowly closing in on the front of the shoe). With my picky five year old by my side, we decided to make a couple of stops in search for some fashionable kids shoes. After an unsuccessful visit to Burlington Coat Factory, I was exhausted and my little man was in need of a nap. However, right next door to Burlington was an often forgotten about gem....Famous Footwear. I remember coming to Famous Footwear as a kid because my parents were not able to afford mall shoe store prices for my sister and I (children are expensive). However, I do remember one of my most memorable finds at this particular Famous Footwear location, was the Reebok Questions (Allen Iverson fans stand up)! When my son and I entered the store, we were enthusiastically greeted by two employees anxiously waiting to assist incoming customers. I told one of the employees that I needed to have my son's rapidly growing feet measured. The employee quickly measured his feet, suggested that we purchase shoes a half size bigger, and also advised us that there was a current BOGO (Buy One Get One) half off promotion. I instructed my son that we would be purchasing four pairs of shoes, in which he would have the freedom to select two of the four pairs. After we were done shopping, we proceeded to check out. I was prepared to spend at least $200. However, I was surprised when all four shoes rang up to the tune of $132 (taxes included). What a deal for two pairs of Chucks, one pair of Levi's, and one pair of Adidas! Although they may not have the selection of shoes offered at major shoe retailors like Footaction or Kids Foot Locker, you can walk away with some pretty decent name brand kids shoes. I went to this store at 2pm on a Friday. They were closed for lunch? I have ate lunch and worked in retail and have never seen every employee take the same lunch time. As i returned to my car, a woman shouted from her car. "We will open in an hour". She got out of her car with her hamburger. I said, "That would have been nice to know before I drive out here." Then another employee started yelling at me, "Why are you complaining to a WOMAN!" He called me other names like 'pussy' etc. Then he said, "Get the F**k out of here." I returned later that evening and he still had a job there. The woman turned out to be the manager. (But apparently because she is a woman, should not field complaints). It was brought to my attention, after the fact, that an employee had been hit the night before and that is the reason they turned off the curbside pickup. I completely understand the need to protect employees' safety but as a customer, the whole situation was not handled properly; Especially when I was told they turned off the curbside pickup, yet I was still able to select that option and received an email stating that my curbside order was ready. After waiting for 10 min and then calling, someone came out with my order (I did not give her my name, my order number, my car details...etc no identifiers) she comes out and said that they were not alerted inside of a curbside order but she had my exact order. I'm not sure how their system works but if you are able to hand me my order without me giving you any details...that leads me to believe that you did receive my information and saw my curbside order details. Someone from the store also reached out and apologized which honestly prompted me to update my review. I will still continue to shop there because of their great deals but will maybe try delivery if I do not have time to go inside. My frustrations might have been heightened by the stress of the holiday but they are valid, so I stand by them and appreciate the response from the store. read more

I saw some shoes that I really liked online and I decided to check to see which Famous Footwear had my shoes with my size on their app. While checking on my app this location popped up with the hours. So I decided to drop by, I couldn't find my shoes so I asked one of the employee to help me and they did. I didn't end up getting the shoes I originally wanted to get because it looked way better online then it did in person when I tried it on. But I did end up getting another two pairs of shoes, plus I got to use my 15% off coupon and my $5 dollar reward. It's true that this Famous Footwear is much smaller than the other locations, but the employees was friendly, helpful and quick to answer any questions I had about items I wanted to check out such as shoes protector and shoes cleaner. So since I left with two pair of shoes, had no problem with the coupons and the employee was helpful and friendly. They get 4 stars from my experience, would give them 5 stars if the shop had more selections. read more

Every time I come in this store I get watched by people working. They don't ask if I need help. Hey but they offered a deal... Sales or Customer service? I bought 2 pairs of the same shoes. Felt completely watched the entire time I was in the store. Overly. I have a Asset Protection background and I know when someone is watching me. I got the the register and the clerk was rude as well. Needed new shoes for work today. Drove to Davis yesterday because that was the only store with a 7.5 size that I thought I needed but it didn't fit quite right. I was told that this location had a size 8. Determined to have the correct shoes I purchased the size 8 on my way to Elk Grove. I get to the store around 8 pm and the workers seemed to not have the operation under control. Line was getting pretty long and only one worker checking people out. I am finally given my box of shoes from behind the counter and I try one shoe on assuming both would be the same and I leave.. Little do I know the box contained one wide shoe and one regular. Amazing. NEXT DAY UPDATE: Called and spoke to the store manager Michael. Explained what happened and he said he had the shoe and to come in and he'd fix it. I ask him to check before I drive there and then he says they actually don't have anymore sizes.. Instead of finding the shoe at another store for me he has me drive back here to not help me at all. This store is very small with very limited shoe selection. I came here one time (probably will be my only time) and was in and out of the store in a matter of minutes. The shoe style here is not really up to date or maybe it's just not my personal preference. I needed a small shoe horn, which are nearly impossible to find unless they're made of heavy metal or are 14 inches long. I've been all over Sacramento looking online and driving all over Sacramento looking for it and my last hope was Famous Footwear. Jasmine asked if I needed help and I asked her right away. The only other person that tried to help me was at a small shoe repair store. She searched the store, behind the register and went to the back and came out with just the perfect thing!! The short: Quite possibly the tiniest Famous Footwear location I have ever seen The long: In need of some new running/training shoes so I've been running around trying to find what works for me. I happened to be taking my wife to a business in the same strip mall so I decided to jump in and check out their stock. They were running their BOGO 50% off sale which is why I assume the place was packed full. I made my way over to the section I needed and went to work. I only found 3-4 pairs of shoes that my feet would even fit in (admittedly I have huge feet 13-14 and usually wide so I always have trouble) The issue I had was that the men's section was so disorganized and it took a lot of looking to find the shoes and size I needed. I spent about 15-20 minutes in the store and not a single employee asked if I needed any help and when I was looking for one to get some help I couldn't find anyone. if i could i would give them ZERO STARS! we go in there to return a pair of shoes. Well. we get in there and talk to the lady at the front. First of all it's been 1 day after our 30 days to return our shoes. Okay. fine. It's after 30 days, so we ask her if we can exchange it? nope. they don't do exchanges. What made us really mad was the fact that their receipts had nothing printed about exchanges or returns. The lady was rude and didn't care about you at all. Terrible customer service and the quality of shoes is not worth the price. I bought a pair of shoes on April 4th and had to return them on April 9th. After wearing the twice, the color started coming off the heel. Not the stores fault but when I went to return them they would only give me store credit because I didn't have the box. I did, however, have the receipt showing I bought them 5 days prior. The cashier and manager could care less and wouldn't bend. I am proud to work for a company who's mantra is "Driven to help others and do the right thing." If only all customer service industries followed the same north star. First off, I'd deduct as many stars as I could for this place if I could and that would be on customer service alone from their assistant manager kandyce. She seems to be the grumpy bitchy lady behind the counter. She really didn't want to be bothered even though there were no customers and she was only sweeping. I had gone up to the counter to ask if she could order me a pair of shoes online but I only had the shoe I wanted. Apparently I actually needed the box and she snapped at me for not having the box and was irritated when I told her that the employee that suggested I have the shoe ordered didn't inform me of that. Then she throws the broom on the floor so hard that it even startled me and without apologizing for it, she storms off to get the shoe realizing that I was behind her but not seeming to care at all. When she comes back to the register she starts asking me for my address so I say, "oh you have it in the right size?", and she barked at me saying "I wouldn't be asking for your address". Geez, thanks right? Also she couldn't even spell my 5 letters long street name that is a very common name. And as we were finishing I received a phone call and she actually expressed with remarks as if I was wasting her time and holding up the line when there still were no other customers. I did happen to get the managers name but he wasn't there in this day. But from all the reviews on here i would assume that they are aware of the kind of service that this sorry ass excuse of an "assistant manager" is giving and they just don't care. read more
