Choley rice with saag and nasn
    Gaurav B.

Having decided to move to maryland, looking for apartments, we ran into this place while checking out over crowded dutch market next door. Late afternoon and being extremely hungry we decided to eat here. Place was empty and but i was craving for kebabs . Wife being a vegeterian was not happy with choice of place. She noticed choley bature but turned out it was weekend special only. but they had veggie plate with saag , chholey ,naan and rice . So we decided to just eat here . The wait was very very long for an empty restaurant , we were getting hangry . After about 45 min we seetwo streaming hot plate being brought to our table . OH my ! The food was so fresh and delicious just blew all our irritation away. We had nice conversation with owner and told him we were moving to the area . As we were ending meal, owner brought over freshly prepared chholey batura on the house . We were shocked , excited and really thanked his gesture. Definately a must try place ! There may be wait but well worth it.

Waittttttttttttt timeeeeeeee ! First timer . Saw some reviews and dropped in here . Came to order lunch at 1 pm and went out at 2.30 it's too much of wait time . I would have given 1 star for the service , but gave 3 - because of their goat curry . It was really really good. Chicken kebab was ok. May be if we ate it there, it would have been good, but the delay in service , the food almost became cold.... Veggie was very average. There were so many customers who were kind of frustrated with the wait time ! Certainly unacceptable. They just have a small grill and do the kebabs , like we do at home . Hope they upgrade their kitchen and also have enough help and improve their service .. non-veg food was good.. overall a very average experience.

This is not a new location for the *real famous* 'Kabob and Karahi' in Silver Spring as we thought. We thought this was a second location in Laurel that just opened up. The Silver Spring location near us is overrun on the weekends and is so tiny inside that we were excited a bigger and newer location opened up. We even considered hosting a party here so we went today to check it out. Oops! Our mistake. This is NOT in any way related to the notorious 'Kabob & Karahi' in Silver Spring that's been around a while. The menu says that this establishment was formerly named Bano Kabob but now known as 'Famous Kabob & Karahi.' Why would they use that name?! Can I open up a fast food restaurant and call it 'The Famous McDonalds?' What a misleading name! Anyway, we went in on a Sunday at 4 pm. The place was empty. Clean large interior with fans on, well lit, great ambience, but empty. In the one hour we were there, I think I saw 2-3 customers. Two paid and left and a couple ordered to-go. We ordered 2 bone-in chicken kabobs that took 30 minutes to prepare. There was only 1 person who took the orders and made the food too. The food was good. The chargrilled chicken Kabob was delicious. The exterior was a little over grilled and tough, but it was still decent. The rice and chickpeas side had been sitting around for a while but that's expected for a place that wasn't overrun with customers. It was still tasty, even though the chickpeas were a little on the salty side. The bread was hot and fluffy and delicious. We let our kids run loose since the place was empty. The trash was empty too. There was no paper towels in the women's bathroom. I heard the men's bathroom was not clean so I took my kids to the women's bathroom. Overall, not bad for a one time experience. I don't know how this place will survive. We won't be back since it's a little far for us and not as good as other places closer to us.

The owner of this place also owns Bano Kabob 5 mins away off on Cherry Lane so you know the food is fresh and authentic. This is a mom and pop shop so quality is the owner's number one priority which means you will find him behind the counter of his open kitchen cooking your food 7 days a week. Thats quality control for ya. With that being said, I recommend you to call ahead to order if your appetite cannot wait! I've been here twice with my co-workers and enjoyed both meals very much. I've ordered their lamb chops and chicken kabob from there and both were delicious. Meats are fresh, tender, and succulent. Their fresh naan is exceptional...pipping hot and pillowy soft just how I like it! Don't get me started on their chickpeas...**drooling** definitely helps my fiber intakes. My co worker one time ordered chicken curry and it was not on the menu that day but the owner went out of his way and made it for her. What a pleasant establishment!!! And they support our nation's heroes in uniforms!

(4.5 stars) So happy to have found this spot. Then to find out the owner also owns Bano (on Cherry Lane). Every order is cooked to order, so if you have an issue w/time, I'd suggest you call ahead. I had the Kabob Combo w/rice, spinach, cabbage, salad, naan & chai tea. All of the meats were flavorful & perfectly seasoned! 1/2 star for the slightly over cooked naan. Luv the location, friendly customer service & great food. Will definitely return!

Wow! We had a private event at Famous Kabob and Karahi. The owner and his team went ABOVE and BEYOND with the food and set up. The food was delicious, and the venue was beautiful. The setup and presentation was outstanding. We will definitely be having future parties here, and dining in as well.

Street parking is free, though it's important to check the posted restrictions, and there is also a small public lot just a short walk away. Our group of 11 had a smooth and pleasant evening. Our server was relatively new but handled the large party with confidence, including separate checks, which we appreciated. She was still learning the menu, but she offered honest recommendations based on dishes she had tried herself. The food was well received across the table. The kitchen gladly accommodated two guests with dietary restrictions, and that flexibility was greatly appreciated. I ordered the Lamb Shawarma, which had tender meat and a wonderful blend of Mediterranean spices. The empty plates around the table said it all. Dessert was the highlight of the meal. The chocolate mousse cake and the layered almond-lemon cake were both rich, flavorful, and a perfect finish. With generous hospitality, accommodating service, reasonable prices, and a menu I'd like to explore further, Olive on Main is definitely a place I'd return to.

I spent every summer in this town, growing up, and I never discovered this restaurant until a precious friend brought me here a few years ago. It's a dated, though efficient, and charming, cafe with fresh dishes you might love. Firstly, if you plan on having lunch here on a Monday, make sure you are able to finish by 2:45 since they close by 3pm. All other days, they are open past 8pm. We started with the sweet potato soup despite the fact that the reviews for the lentil soup here are the highest. Yes! If it's featured: get it! The turmeric and coconut milk make this soup delightful. The herbs made it so fresh and there was just the right amount of sweetness and gentle heat. Parsley really adds to this recipe and I'm not usually a fan of this herb. The pitas are soft, thin and light. Love them. We needed to order more. I've never had such paper-thin pitas. Yum! I love love love the hummus, here. It is nothing short of divine. The flavors are fabulous and deeply complex. You can really taste the tahini. The olive oil is mild and delicious. I exclaimed, "the hummus was the best ever." And then 5 minutes later, I read a review by Yelper James H. where he says it's the best ever and, "... this hummus at Cedars of Lebanon might have ruined all other hummus for me forever." While I've had similar swooning feelings over the hummus at Lebanese Taverna in Tyson's Corner, this hummus is at least a top contender if not the metro DC area's hummus winner. The cucumber mint yogurt salad is nice, cold and refreshing. You can really taste the mint. I would order this yogurt salad with every meal. The falafel pizza is unusual and fresh. Straight away-- you can taste the tahini, parsley and couscous. The dough is grainy and natural. And there are radishes on this falafel pizza: not overpowering. For the $9 or so pricepoint, this dish is a true labor of love. To prep all of these vegetables, even with food processors, must take time. How novel of a dish! Put the yogurt salad on this pizza. You will thank me. And I only did it because I was watching someone else slather it on. There were at least 12 desserts on the menu. Meow. If we weren't so full of pita, hummus, tahini and fresh veggies, we certainly would love to taste a few of these. As well as the Turkish coffee, with an authentic ceramic and metal carafé presentation.

The restaurant has a small outdoor dining area with three four-seater tables, which was find for our two dogs. The experience overall was pretty low key, which necessarily is not a bad thing. Although there is waiter/waitress service, you will have to order your food at the cashier's counter. Actually, maybe that's only a thing if you are dining outside. The menu has a nice mix of Middle Eastern dishes. I went with a beef (or maybe it was lamb) kabob plate. The portions were fine and my meal was pretty good. It was not out of this world amazing, but it got the job done. I thought that the prices were pretty good for the area and the amount of food received. Although the food was fine, I do not think that I would go out of my way (e.g., driving more than 30 minutes) to dine here. Just be aware that the restaurant does not serve alcoholic beverages.

I got their take on flatbread pizza called Lamb Pide. Wow, the lamb and pizza as a whole was amazing. My friend got some more expensive platter, which looked good. If I came back, I'd maybe get something like what he got. My friend (& me to a lesser extent) were cogitating on getting a dessert.
