I had a medium to dark roast that was out of this world from Guatemala. The Barista was so helpful in helping me select the perfect blend after I explained what I like in coffee. The blueberry and chocolate chip scones where delicious and they had other bakery items such as muffins and breads. They put them on a grill when we asked if the scone could be heated so good. The icing on the cake or should I say scone was Brittany singing and Gabe playing his acoustic guitar. They were so talented and humble. Just the coffee alone was an amazing treat! I am such a coffee snob and there coffee is by far the best I have had in CT what a wonderful treasure. A great way to spend Sunday Funday!

There's broken or unplugged machines littering the room, and, as another reviewer pointed out, very unfriendly locals. We ate there when Butch was out of town, so I'm unable to judge the food based on his cooking but her cooking was absolutely horrendous. She had no clue how to even salt and pepper things properly - let alone even applying spices to make home fries... This was the absolute worse breakfast that I've had in the state. There is a doorbell which you buzz to be let in, although there is signage outside, so you can easily find the place when driving by. I think my sister and I were a little put off and might have turned around and walked out, but that would have been too obvious and rude. (We also had sign-in to the guest book upon walking in and be approved by a paying member). Turns out, the owner Butch himself, was on site along with his sister, aka the cook. He apparently has been running the place for 40+ years and opens it every night starting at 11 pm through the early afternoon hours of 1 pm (he is a self admitted insomniac). This place clearly does not follow the standard rules! Jukebox was pumping with Elvis hits and other various songs from the 50's and 60's (Mr. Sandman, etc.). Food was surprisingly good...had a pancake (for $1.95!) and corned beef hash. My sister had a egg/bacon/cheese on a hard roll with a side of home fries. They also have a pool table which probably gets a lot of use in the late night hours of operation.

We had a few hours to kill before our flight, so our local friend wanted to show us the cute little town of Chester. She recommended this spot for brunch; It's small, cute and incredibly charming. The prices were cheap and the food was great. They have a few tables inside or a couple outside, and sits right in the heart of the town. The Villager is awesome... I'd gladly come back here in a heartbeat when I'm back in town!

Things got a little heated and we exchanged "pleasantries" after I told him to cancel my sandwich. I was told that he said that "I could go F**k myself" after I left the store and then told the other people waiting to place an order that he didn't have anymore bread....when he definitely did. Again, maybe he was having a bad day or the heat was getting to him but this kind of attitude and service a little shocking. Even though I told him to cancel my order he still made the Deluxe Italian combo sandwich. After the exchange in the restaurant I really wanted to hate the sandwich but I have to admit it was very good. 4 stars for the sandwich, minus 2 stars for the attitude.
