First of all she started picking the gel polish off my toes instead of soaking it off/drilling it off. I don't know how harmful that is to my nails but i do know it's not right. The standard of this salon seems low as there is no sanitary barrier/disposable bag for the foot pools. A good thing is all are wearing gloves. There's a lot of talking but that's ok def a little dingy and dark in here. What i got- A gel pedicure and full set What my grandma got- Regular manicure with no gel What my cousin got- Regular pedi and full set 1. My tech was constantly taking phone calls to the salon and would pause for minutes while doing my nails. 2. Polish was still on my skin on both my fingers and toes. My gel toes look very sloppy. 3. The tech had to put oil in the polish because it was out. 4. She CUT me w the drill and the tech doing my cousins nails also CUT her with a file. read more

This is the first time I've had my nails done in 7 years. I have a photo shoot coming up for work and need my hands to display the product. Decided to walk-in on a Tuesday around 5:30pm as I figured it might be slower. It's right by my house so if it was crowded I could go home without much time wasted. Someone was late for their appointment by 20-30 mins so they started on me pretty quickly. Although next time I will make an appointment. I was very grateful they were able to get me in. They worked quickly, but I understand, she was in between appointments. For how rushed it was, the quality was good! They only accept cash tip, so in exchange for not having any cash at the time I thought I'd provide an elite review! After I had the gel literally grinded off my nails (after I had asked repeatedly for it to be soaked off), I have horizontal and vertical tears in pretty much 60% of my nails. Go to Twin City Nails in St. Louis Park. They take their time and listen to their clients. I will not be going back again, even for a lame pedicure in a pinch. read more

I had high hopes as one of my good friends comes here only to be severely let down. I wanted something in particular, provided the picture and she said she could do it but it was an epic fail. Terrible quality. I got a dip powder manicure and just over 24 hours later, I noticed one nails dip powder chipped off and another cracked. I went back and asked them to fix the one chipped nail and was told by the technician that she hated doing dip because it takes so long etc. Then she started making comments of how my nail bed shape was stating that the dip powder looked thick on them (mind you, another technician did my nails at this salon one day prior). Got the nail "fixed" and now three days later, another nail just chipped while I was typing on my laptop for work. Worst quality product. No other explanation for why the dip would chip off so quickly doing nothing drastic with my hands. Typing on my computer or vacuuming should not result in multiple chipped or cracked nails in such a short amount of time. read more

This is by far the best place to go to get a gel manicure. Or any manicure! They take so much time making your nails look perfect and they don't rush through it. I have problems with my cuticles and they take the time to trim them and make them look so much better. I have been to so many nail salons where they rush the manicure to get you out of there faster but Famous Nails take their time and it pays off. My manicures last twice as long when I go here versus other places! Plus! They have so many gel colors to choose from and everyone is super friendly. I will drive out of my way to go to this salon. I've been here several times before and the quality has gone down. Used to be my favorite nail spot near my parents house. After last weeks appointment, I will not be returning. The pedicure and manicure were both mediocre, had to ask the technician to fix pretty much every nail because there was either paint missing from the nail or it was not smooth. Ultimately left unsatisfied and disappointed. It is clean, and there is air flow so that's a plus. But if I'm getting my nails done and they don't even last 5 days without chipping, I'm better off elsewhere. read more

They make everyone feel like a star! Their staff is very friendly and down to earth. They know their clients and take care in making sure they are satisfied. Best Gel Manicures ever! They moved to a bigger location in the same strip in Oct; it's very nice. There are plenty of chairs. Had a mani/pedi on Fri and it was really relaxing and they did a great job. I aso got an eyebrow and upper lip wax. Not sure of the individual prices but my total (including gel on the mani, a basic pedi, and the waxing) was $77 plus I gave a 20% tip. While the "spa" clean, and conveniently located in the Golden Valley Shopping Mall, the customer service is insincere, and cliché. The discouragement of credit card usages and/or the cash only concept is insulting. In addition, the hustle to up sale is distasteful. I tried Famous Nails for several manicures and pedicures before finally throwing in the towel. The last pedicure I had, even though the color came out of the same bottle, one foot looks red, the other brown... I wasn't paying attention but I suspect one foot got an extra coat of paint that the other didn't (I know, rocket scientist!). The last manicure I had, my nails actually split down the MIDDLE... how the heck hard do you have to file natural nails for them to split down the MIDDLE??? Absolutely terrible customer service!! I had my nails done in a new style at the suggestion of the nail technician Tiffany to try Ombre nails and that's all I had done. I realized after that they charged me $$$95.00 WTH!!! When I asked how much does it usually cost she replied $60.00 they over charged me by$35.00 . I said I would be happy to show my bank receipt from the visit as proof she declined & then I asked would she be willing to make up the difference on the nxt Visit? She declined. Went in for a fill and the nail tech (assuming she actually has a license), was EXTREMELY rough and cut me in several places with the file and nail dremmel. This never happens at my regular place but I had to drop my dog off at vet and Famous nails is next door. She charged me full price to cut my hands up and leave me in pain. I think she fabricated some of the prices too, I paid 78$ total, this is outrageous!! I'm not done either, I went in to get 3 nails fixed that broke off (she didn't put bond aid on) and they were very rude and made me wait an hour to get them fixed. I was getting upset and I kept asking them when they would get to me,I had an interview right after. One of the other nail techs was talking about me and told the person fixing my nails that I should f**k off. Unbelievably horrible experience both occasions and never again!! Tiffany is the best and my absolute favorite. I haven't had a better mani pedi anywhere and she actually does my eyebrows better than any esthetician I've tried. It's clean, there are a lot of color selection, if not too much if you're indecisive like me. They have they plus massaging chairs that feel amazing. There is a nail salon close enough to my house that I can walk, but I would rather drive to Famous Nails. I recommend making an appointment. read more

They did a nice job on a gel manicure, even stayed open late for me! There's a lot of pressure to get waxing there, which can feel a little like them saying "your brows look bad, you need a wax!" Atmosphere is not classy. Owners are very nice. The manicure lasted a long time and looked very nice. Like many other MN nail salons, they pressure for cash tips. Being from the South, that's foreign to me and seems like some attempt at avoiding taxes? I'd make it my go-to if the space was a bit more upscale. read more

This is my second time having to wait an additional 30 mins for an appt that I made ahead of time. It's ridiculous. Jenny is the only tech that does my nails how I want and how they should look. She doesn't rush. This salon is clearly money hungry, by taking appts just to make us wait. There's no apology, or acknowledgement, we're just supposed to wait until they're done doing whatever. Some people have schedules to stick to. They only time they acknowledge you is when your about to walk out of the door so they can beg you to come back. Never returning. read more
