I've never gotten a lash lift before and maybe it was my mistake going to a waxing place to get one done.... But there was n o difference in my lashes. I got the complimentary "tint" which I could tell a TINY bit but absolutely no curl. I payed $120 (including tip) for nothing which was very frustrating. I went in a few days ago for a Brazilian wax and received Brittany as my cerologist. I walked in around 2:55 and didn't end up leaving until 4:45. I know Waxing the City's Brazilians tend to take longer which I used to appreciate because I felt that they were being more careful, but just under two hours for one wax is absolutely ridiculous. Brittany was completely professional and was kind but took entirely too long for my wax. This on top of the fact that I like to relax when I go and get waxed (it can be an *intense* process) and it was almost impossible to relax because she was talking throughout the entire wax. I know many cerologists try to talk to clients to make them more comfortable/distracted but even when I would stop responding to have a moment of silence, the silence would quickly be broken. Maybe I should get better at being clear that I want a more quiet experience? The wax itself was okay, it wasn't the best I'd ever received and still had some patches of hair left but I hadn't been waxed in some time so that may have contributed. Overall was not happy, especially walking out two hours after I walked in. read more

About a month ago I was excited to return to the Golden Valley studio for the first time since the pandemic started. I booked an appointment with Sarah, the studio manager, online, and received several confirmation messages about it. When I arrived for my appointment, though, a different cerologist insisted that I was scheduled with her instead and couldn't see Sarah. I went along for it and got a reasonable waxing -- not the best I've had at Waxing the City as quite a bit of hair was still left, but reasonable enough to at least try this cerologist again. So as I checked out, I booked another appointment for today (July 5), and explained that would be right before a trip I'd be taking. On the feedback form I received afterward, I detailed my experience and received an email from Sarah (who I had booked with and who had passed me on to the different cerologist) with the subject heading "Let's connect about your experience." However, the message was sent from a "no-reply" email address, so I couldn't actually discuss my experience with her. Fast forward to the next appointment I had booked: on the 4th of July in the evening I received a text on my cell phone from this other cerologist that she wouldn't be available, and that I could call the studio the next day to reschedule. So I called this morning; no one is picking up the phone. The appointment is still listed as scheduled in my online account. I am also unable to delete my payment information in my account to make sure I don't get charged. I don't want to be passed around between cerologists. I wonder why neither of these cerologists is interested in providing my waxing service, and I don't want my credit card information to remain stored with a studio that provides such poor service. I've visited this studio for monthly waxes for several years, and have had several great cerologists. Especially Gianna and Amanda used to do a great job, cared, and were reliable. Based on my recent experience, though, I will not be returning. Absolutely lousy. read more

I just had an appointment a few days ago for my lip area. She was very nice and professional but went over my lip area like 4 times and took some skin off. I not have a cm long scab on the left side of my lips and a small circular area on my upper right side. Thankfully we are in a pandemic and need to wear masks otherwise I would be so embarrassed. Haircare is a complicated subject. On the one hand, I've always envied long tresses. On the other hand, I'd prefer to keep those tresses on my scalp, and nowhere else. This is why I wax, plain and simple. But just having the hair removed, be it from your eyebrows, lip, chin, under arms or anywhere that Waxing The City provides (see website for a full list of services and areas) can be a painful experience. That's where Waxing the City stands out: The use of "Hard Wax", a wax that when removed isn't as painful as certain waxes that salons may use. Now for the personal bits of this review: I've been getting my eyebrows waxed for over 8 years, and until Waxing the City, waxing was a painful ordeal. Not here. No wincing, no cringing, no tears or watery eyes. Just a good wax, in and out, by a professional. I relocated to Crystal some time ago, so this Golden Valley location is closest to me. I walked in mid-afternoon and asked if they had any openings available. I was set up with Natalie and we were getting to the issue at hand; my overgrown eyebrows. Pregnancy hormones caused my hair to grow rapidly, and I needed them re-shaped to fit my face after a month of tending to a crying baby instead of my crying 'brows. Love, love, love Natalie! She spent a good 8 minutes going over the shape of my brows, helping get what I wanted. Then, the waxing began. Quick, concise, she waxed until she needed to be slightly more precise, and that's when the tweezers came out. She made wonderful conversation and was SO accommodating, even when my 1 month old started fussing. Want a good wax experience every time? See the same pro. I'll be coming back to see Natalie. I have been a customer for a few years and have always seen Natalie. She has always been fantastic and super professional- but the worst thing ever happened- she left to move onto a new adventure. As for the salon- It is always clean- staff are nice and professional. One thing I have noticed is that staff change over a lot here and they are always understaffed. This is a bummer for the company. Now that Natalie is gone I saw Ashley for the first time and she was super fast and professional. I miss Natalie. She left big shoes to fill- but I know with time I will learn to love a new cerologist and will be just fine! Overall, is recommend going here. Professional, clean, friendly, good quality wax. Terrible customer service. If I could give them zero stars I would. Had an appointment set up, they called me to cancel it because that person wasn't going to work that day for whatever reason. So instead of offering to set me up with someone else they decide to just cancel it? Then the next time they cancelled my appointment right before it and the manager there refused to speak with me. I tried calling three times to speak with a manager and they insisted she would call me back. That never happened. read more

This was my first time getting my eyebrows waxed. As soon as I walked in the first thing I noticed is how spotlessly clean and calm the environment is. Tara is probably the biggest reason I have fallen in love with this place and I plan on getting all my hair removal done here. She was incredibly comforting, very knowledgeable of her job and ever single one of my questions and concerns were answered promptly and perfectly. She is funny, talented and really gets to know her client and makes you feel like a long lost friend. I tried a few visits and after two visits the gal I was seeing unfortunately left. I decided to give it another try even after a big mix up over the club orange terms which resulted in me canceling the membership. So one more shot, and they screwed up rescheduling my appointment. I take full responsibility I had to reschedule of my own fault as I had a work commitment come up but I did call and complete this. Fast forward to the day of the appointment I have been patiently waiting for and I can't even get anything done because it was scheduled inappropriately. The actual wax and services are great when it actually works. Now I'm left stuck at 2:30 on a Saturday! Good luck finding an alternative then. Thanks a whole lot. read more

I hate to be the first one to give this place a poor rating, but this was the worst waxing experience I have had. I have been to about 4 different chains of waxing studios and have always been satisfied. However, I went to Waxing the City this past week and was completely surprised at the service. I got a Brazilian (my usual), but when I returned home to inspect the job, I found there were many spots that were missed. It took 45 minutes so she was not rushing in any way. I am not sure if I will return for a wax by another person at the studio, because my biggest concern is that regardless of all of the little stuff that comes along with waxing studios, hair removal is my number ONE priority when getting a wax. read more

I had a great experience with Ashley at waxing the city! It was my first ever bikini wax, and I was super nervous about it. I'd read lots of people's horror stories & heard about how painful those types of waxes are, so I was gearing up for a lot of pain. Previously I've had good experiences with the chain, outside of being sold stuff I didn't use, but I had an appointment at one and no one was there. I waited 15 minutes and even tried calling the studio while sitting in their lobby. Nothing. So basically if you have money to burn and endless time, feel free to sit around waiting for someone to show up. But I leave for spring break tomorrow and am scrambling at the last minute to try and find a place to get my bikini done. read more
