I recently tried Fancy Nails and I'm glad that I did. The owner did my nails for me. She explained that instead of dipping which is not sanitary, she puts the powder on with a brush. The nails appear more natural and should also last longer. I just had them done yesterday, but I am so pleased with the results. My nails look fantastic. Walked in here on a Saturday and was helped right away, I wanted tips with gel (they don't have sns nails) and the lady insisted I couldn't just do tips with gel - I either needed to do acrylics or silk wrap then gel on top. I wrote my first review the same day I got them done, and everything I said was true. Unfortunately, the great experience didn't last. My nails started badly chipping 3 days later. Then, I recently went back, because they have such great customer service that I thought they deserved another try. This time around, my appointment was okay, but the women doing my toes filed my nail too short and made me bleed. What really disappointed me though, is that I paid for a pedicure and a gel manicure ($43) but the gel manicure, which they said would last 3 weeks, only lasted 8 days. i decided to come here today for a mani/pedi based on the good yelp reviews. no more than 5 minutes into my manicure, the lady trimming my cuticles cut me. if it were just a small knick it wouldn't have been that bad, i know little things like that can happen, but she straight cut deep into my skin exposing the flesh on my finger. the wound started to bleed profusely and all the employees stammered pour all sorts of ointments to help disinfect the area. I'm not a big baby, but damn, that shit hurt. the lady who cut me started apologizing telling me that sometimes she has a hard time seeing, and she didn't mean to cut me on purpose. WAIT WHAT? i immediately asked for her to stop, and kindly asked another employee to just paint my nails without any of the additional clean/prep. i was quite traumatized at this point although i didn't want to make a scene. after the paint dried, the owner approached me and apologized, then proceeded to charge me full price for the services. i promptly paid and left. needless to say, i don't recommend this place and i will never be coming back. 2 hours later and my wound has started bleeding again. read more

I have been coming here for 12 years and it's my salon of choice because of the friendliness of the staff (always felt like home), the skill of the workers, and because it was one of the few places who didn't try to upsell you. Today was my first less than stellar visit. As usually the mani pedi was very well done, chairs and environment comfy, but the person doing my nails was very pushy, and actually kept discussing the poor condition of my toe nails and calluses. I was mortified! I don't think my get are perfect but I religiously get pedicures every 6 weeks. No one has ever said anything like this to me before - I think it was her way to suggest more services. At this place I always wait 10 minutes to let my nails dry. No joke I was there for 7 minutes when same person and around saying " turn around" and proceeded to put my shoes on and "shoo"me towards the register. Wow. There was no one waiting lots of empty chairs and two hours before closing time. I've never been "kicked out" of a nail place before. I would give my experience a 3 and if it was my first time I would not be back. However because I have lived this ace, I'm hoping this visit was a fluke and not reflective of a change in management. read more

This place is great! I came in for the first time today to kill some time and the ladies here were really friendly, I was greeted right when I entered and as I was beginning to get my gel manicure. First impressions were, the place is very clean,professional and the ambiance was great too. I dont live in the area, which is why this was my first time here but for being a customer that isnt familiar with the area or nail salon, I felt very welcomed and comfortable. Tina was the lady that did my nails, and let me tell you, she was great! Very friendly and attentive. She asked me how I wanted my nails shaped and she did exactly what I asked for. Another thing I liked was that she made an effort to have a conversation with me which is rare for me at nail salons. Usually its quiet and akward but not here. Customer service here is amazing!! I called same day and asked to come in as soon as possible. The women said to come in in 30 min. I was so excited they took me in with little "uh, well, umm" and she even made sure I knew where they were located. I usually get the "ok bye" as they rush me off the phone barely asking my name for the appointment. I arrived 5 min before my scheduled appointment and they took me in right away. She immediately introduced herself and I though that was such a personal touch. She called me by my name the entire time and made so much conversation (which is also different from previous experiences at other salons). Sad to report a very disappointing experience. I made an appointment because it's Friday and the beginning of the Christmas weekend. I thought with an appointment, I'd have someone available to me for the mani-pedi I requested. NOPE. Was shuttled between the mani-pedi chair, the a regular chair, received a less than stellar manicure (what part of short and round wasn't understood and BTW, I expected my cuticles to be done, but that was ignored), then I asked for paraffin, which wasn't done until I agreed to have my eyebrows waxed. Nothing more delightful than hot paraffin leak out of the bag, on my hip and onto my clothes...with that apparently my eyebrow wax was over because that wasn't finished either. I showed the manager who was waxing my face the manicure and that isn't wasn't good at all (my nails were cut straight across with no curve to the points - a far cry from short and round.) She agreed that she'd fix it, but instead she sat me with the same woman who did a mediocre job the FIRST time and now she made it worse! I kept trying to stop her, so she finally understood to stop. AND THEY CHARGED ME FULL BOAT. I didn't want to make a scene, so I paid, left my usual generous tip. I called when I got home. Got hung up on. Finally spoke to the manager. There's no way I'm going back for a 'free' session since this one went so poorly. JUST AN ALL AROUND UNFORTUNATE EXPERIENCE. I'm now back on the hunt for a decent salon in the Tustin area. Recommendations welcome. Just make sure that the woman helping you understands you. read more

I have always had wonderful experiences with all of the nail technicians. The ladies are inviting and nice! Tina does my gel manicures, and I always get compliments on how pretty they look. :) They have a nice selection of gel polishes with regular polishes that match. Once when I wanted a mint green gel and they were out of the polish, Helen went out and bought the regular mint polish before I came back for my pedicure! The customer service here is outstanding. Tina suggested that I try a different gel combination -- OPI Bubblebath and silver glitter on the tips -- and it is my new favorite! It's simple yet pretty. I really like how small this place is. It's nice from the inside and everyone who works there is very polite. I made an appointment for a mani pedi and I was seated as soon as I got there. Other places will put you down for a "mani pedi" but when you get there they only have one person available to do both.. But not here! I quickly had my manicure and pedicure started within minutes of walking in. My manicure was greatly good, and the Polish has lasted for a few days. The pedicure also ended up being good, but I think the woman who did my pedicure was in training and she didn't seem too sure of herself. She actually scratched my skin a bit because she didn't realize the edges if the buffer were too sharp... she did an Ok job and the owner made sure to inspect everything after she was finished. I've seen a big decline in cleanliness of this nail salon and in paying attention more, it doesn't appear that they clean their nail implements in between customers -- forget autoclaving! The last time I was there, the chairs were filthy, the trays attached to them were disgusting, the floor was dirty ... yuck. Additionally, one time I was being worked on and I got the distinct feeling that they were talking **** about me (in another language, of course). I've been happy with how my nails have looked, but I think I'm going to take my business elsewhere for the reasons listed above. read more
